  • I visited a dental hospital in Nanjing China. Nanjing University Stomatological Hospital is in the centre of a big Chinese city in a working class area. I ate a sweet and it removed part of a filling and a hole appeared in my tooth. I share my experience visiting the dentist, what I had done and how much it cost me. We look around the surgery, surrounding area and at some displays inside the dental clinic.

    Hi Adam, 12rmb?! That’s cheap, works out to be $2-50 AUD . If you did the same procedure in Australia, it would cost you at least $100 AUD, and you would not receive a rebate / refund from Medicare from Our universal healthcare system. Dental services are not covered under our Medicare , but only through private health insurance. Even if you account for a lower income in relation to the cost of living in China. ,Dental and medical services in China offer better value , compared to the west. Western governments could learn from China’s socialist model of health care , but they ever admit it that Chinas system is better.

      @middlekingdomproductions  4 месяца назад +1

      HI Roger, Yeah, it's ridiculously cheap! The healthcare system here is reasonably priced. I don't know how expensive it gets for more invasive and complicated dental care but I'd imagine it's fairly reasonable still. For sure, I think all countries should have a more socialist model of healthcare, so that everybody no matter how rich or poor can afford to get treated as equally as any other person without significant financial losses.

    Also how the heck are they doing and maintaining the grass bird sculptures or whatever theyre called in a park!!!!!?? Thats Art right there!!!! If we're lucky in the UK, we get a bloke sitting on his lawnmower and we dont see him maybe for the next 2 years or something!
    Those would be destroyed within a week in a regular english park right now! if the parks arent closed off at night etc.... i have no idea if Chinese parks are closed off for the night or if people can just stroll through the park at midnight and after!???
    Seriously so much public park green spaces and all so immaculate!!!! And all you see is the odd likkle old lady or likkle old man in his straw hat sweeping!!!?

      Haha yeah, a bloke on a lawnmower once in a blue moon, sounds about right! That's one great thing about China, they have people maintaining the streets and grounds to keep everywhere clean and tidy. It depends on the park, some parks close after dark, others are open all the time. I think the park in this video closes at night.

    I couldn't stop laughing with the cost Adam it's crazy here in australia worst thing is never properly done or break it into a couple of treats so you have to keep going back wasting more time and money By the way over here for check up / cleaning $250+ if X-ray needed $300+ 😢

      Me too! I was surprised. That does sound crazy. I don't think it's quite that expensive in the UK but it's very difficult to see an NHS dentist in most places. I think visiting the dentist is difficult enough for many people without paying crazy prices too!

    Without dentis insurance not many american can afford it. $500-$1000 is their likely cost for something like that

  • @PS-383
    @PS-383 4 месяца назад +4

    That is ridiculously affordable for a dental filling. Over here in Ontario, it will set be back at least C$100 unless I have insurance coverage which I can purchase (for those who are retired) or from the employer. Can I assume that if a foreigner does not have some kind of work permit or residency permit stamped on their passport, the cost for the same procedure will be a lot higher?

    • @middlekingdomproductions
      @middlekingdomproductions  4 месяца назад

      It is surprising. I think a big filling would probably be more expensive but I'd imagine not very. How much would insurance coverage cost you to purchase?. No, I think the same prices apply to tourists using the hospital or dentist here too, as far as I know.

I learned recently that the police in China - don't remember what city, etc - are using a dog like yours..... so interesting. my trip to China is having problems. I didn't realize that it was important that my passport not expire within 6 months of my trip. now to see if I can get it renewed in time. plans are to visit Nanjing, etc., and then go on a botanical tour in the mountains of Sichuan ......
