World's MOST EXTREME Airports (Caribbean Edition)

- Watch this video to explore THREE of the world’s MOST EXTREME Airports! The best part, they’re all a ten minute flight apart from each other.
St Maarten will be our base of operations for this Caribbean Adventure. We’ll first explore the world famous Maho Beach where it’s easy to watch jumbo jets land at the nearby St. Maarten Princess Juliana International Airport.
After that, we’ll make the unforgettable 10-minute flight to St. Baarths and experience the unbelievable approach into that island’s airport. It requires specially trained pilots to fly over a hill - and oncoming traffic - before essentially diving toward the airport below. It is hair-raising and anxiety inducing, not for the faint of heart!
We’ll see more of the island before flying to Saba, home to the world’s shortest commercial runway. The approach into that airport and landing is as close to landing on an aircraft carrier as I’ve ever felt, but it was the departure that was the most nail-biting of all!
This Caribbean Aviation Adventure is one we’d recommend to just about everyone. Hope you enjoy!

Every Saturday, I look for this guy’s new video, and every week, he somehow makes it better than the last. Good job Jeb!
agree 100 percent
He is not just “this guy” he is Jeb Brooks
But yes I do agree
Skiathos' airport beach in Greece sees Maho Beach and says "Finally, a worthy opponent! Our battle will be legendary". Another neat fact about St. Maarten is that it has the world's shortest commercial international flight which is between there and the British island of Anguilla (in fact you can see a flight coming from Anguilla at 1:45). The flight takes just 10 minutes (your St Maarten-St Barth's flight takes 15 minutes). Unlike the neighboring St. Martin, Anguilla is pretty laid back and this is because of it being sparsely populated and that it didn't make the decision to develop tourism until the 1980s.
They actually used to be its own republic for a short time in the 1960s, and this is why it has three dolphins on its flag (as that was on the flag of the republic). Basically, the UK combined them with St. Kitts, they were unhappy as they preferred to be their own colony, they kicked out the St. Kitts police, held a referendum to leave St. Kitts that neither the UK nor St. Kitts recognized, held another referendum in favor of being a republic, then the UK sent a contingent of 331 2nd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment, plus 30 London Metropolitan Police officers. While St Kitts got their independence, Anguilla has remained British.
Such wise words from Mr Supreme Kim that I felt it coming inside me ❤
I'm surprised you didn't try camping out at the Sunset Beach Bar for the views😂 I'm not a plane enthusiast at all, just love watching you two enjoy yourselves.
I definitely would have!
Ah yes, an American flying from a part of the Netherlands to a French island, at an airport named after a Swedish king...Mr. Worldwide. Being able to sit right next to the pilot to get a front-row seat of the action of this one-of-a-kind flight experience is the equivalence of winning Powerball. JEALOUS! St. Barth's history is quite interesting! The island was Swedish from 1784 to 1878! France gave Sweden the island in exchange for French trading rights in Gothenburg. With that, the Swedish West India Company was established, but the colony wasn't quite successful. The islanders faced a feverish epidemic that led to the deaths of 300 people in 1840, as well as a severe drought in 1850.
Sweden no longer saw the colony as viable and attempted to give it to the US in the late 1860s. They even tried giving it to ITALY, but Sweden stopped talks with Italy after realizing Italy wanted to use it as a penal colony. So when Oscar II became King in 1872, he approached France about returning the island, which they agreed to in August 1877, and the French officially reoccupied it in March 1878.
OMG! I love Suzanne!! “You DO know that planes land INTO the wind?!?” She’s amazing!
Awesome video! I really appreciate the lengths (1312 feet) you go to get the best aviation footage.
Omg, what a small world, finding your channel through Dennis Bunnik’s, feeling associated with travel being a flight attendant myself, having my love living in Australia , where I will end up in the near future ,I come across you guys going to my islands and filmed it🎉❤. I am a born Saba girl, lived between there and St Maarten until my teenage years,I cried seeing you film my beautiful islands. Especially Saba. I even saw some familiar faces also. Like your taxi driver . I mean come on we all know each other there 😂. Thank you for this video 🙏
First time I went to St Maarten was in 2003. Back then the Maho beach bar was a shack doing $2 Carib’s and you had 747’s screaming in over the beach. It was heaven. Then the cruise ships turned up… and well The rest is history.
I just got back from both SXM and SBH last week. Celebrating my 55th Birthday. What an incredible trip. 😎🌴✈️
I went to Saba recently as well. That other BN Islander (PJ-WEB, another Windward Express aircraft) you can see at 10:30 unfortunately suffered some damage to its port side main gear after a presumably hard landing. It apparently encountered wind shear and is now temporarily stranded. Good job to your Winair air pilots for landing in that tailwind!
Your videos are never disappointing. I hope you consider flying on Breeze Airways soon, because I’m anxious to hear your opinion about them.
I always love visiting that beach.
I always wonder how many people on flights like these know how unique they are, and how many just need to get somewhere for work.
Wow that is crazy with the airports. Love the adventurous spirit in you and Suzanne. Keep up the good work.
How cool that you were about to pay cash and get 2 seats on a charter! Saint Maarten is definitely on my bucket list. I've always washed to visit the beach at the end of the runway! Thx for the great video as always!
I have been to St Maarten & St Barth's airports, exciting for sure..
15:48 That 727 is gorgeous!
I love plane spotting at Maho.
This video is so fun! I always look forward to your video adventures. TY both.
A few years back I flew in a Trilander from Bournemouth to Alderney and back....so amazing
I am always excited to watch the Jeb brooks video of the week!! Cant wait to watch this one
Beautiful setting. Great video. Thank you.
Fabulous video. One of your best and most interesting!
The right seat?! That's awesome!!
You are the bar Jeb! Always enjoy the videos
Another really enjoyable video. Thank you for sharing!
Per usual, awesome video footage. I am sold! Saba here I come.
Thanks for this vlog. Happy Easter. 🐇
Another great video Jeb thanks for sharing buddy
I loved this video so much, Jeb!
On the subject of Britten Norman Islanders, one day I hope to see Jeb fly with FIGAS, the only national airline with just that plane in their fleet. They're based at Stanley, but they fly to dozens of places all over the Falkland Islands, including the international airport at Mount Pleasant.
I had to scrunch up my toes to help with that landing. Excellent work!!
I think I missed this one unbelievable 😮
On my very top wishlist of airports to Visit (SBH). Fantastic footage!
Glad you got to visit Saba (I live here), but I’m from Sint Maarten. You both look familiar I might’ve seen you walking in the windward side.
Done that flight. So much fun
Feels good to be this early!!!!
My best friend went to med school on St. Martin. He loved Saba over the other islands because of the people and diving.
TNCM, TJSJ, and TNCS are my absolute favorites in the Caribbean. I need to get back. You need to climb the mountain on Saba!!
The most colourful and complete video of St-Martin aviation hot-spots I have seen!
Favorite Jeb Brooks vdo to date
St Baarths is where i recall a small plane over ran the end of the runway and ended up in the sea quite some time ago.
Watching some Netherlands footage from the Netherlands 👍🏻👍🏻
Over in Europe we have our own St Maarten airport located on the greek island of Skiathos.
Suzanne's Delta hat is on point!
Awesome video as always 😊
So much fun and scary
The Winair branded fan was great
Love the thumb! Great job!!!
First Officer JB 🤩 Another awesome video!
I think Saint Martin is where Captain Ron parallel parked Martin's Yacht in the movie Captain Ron if memory serves me right, great video.
From the lower part of the kingdom of the Netherlands thanks for the episode, Saba looked amazing, all the islands did. 😊
Fantastic footage!
WOW!!!!
Awesome video........no idea what camera you used in first part but was so clear and bright.
Well that was some good "check your shorts" kind of flying....LOL One of these days, I'll make it over that way.
To answer Suzanne's questions at the end, Yes, You are GOOD!
Fantastic video guys!😸
Love your videos and love planes ❤❤
Love the Delta hat❤
Fly to Lincoln Nebraska again to try a new airline this summer!!!
Ok now you guys need to do a trip to the Himalayas and fly into Paro, Bhutan and Lukla, Nepal.
Perhaps also a ski trip to courchevel?
BEAUTIFUL VIDEO !
Great flight.
Wow....
This guys vids remind of something straight from the travel channel, voice over and all.
Those are my little twin brothers name, Ryan and Bryan. .. ❤️
Also, awesome video! We visited Maho Beach via cruise ship back in 2017 and watching those planes land and take off was so beautiful!
I think that islanders and Trilanders still do the Orkney Island routes among them the shortest flight in the world if the wind is correct.
Worth a review.
Many years ago Inverness to Wick was a Trilander
That scares the crap out of me.
Amazing
Nice video!! Keep up the good work
Fantastic video, guys.
I have been to many islands in the Caribbean, union islands runway was the most memorable. It ended in the ocean.
St. Maarten is so well known for those on the beach braving prop and jet blast. I learned how to fly under the FAA's Light Sport rules, and I have taken off from grass, dirt and of course paved runways.
One of the best places to watch commercial traffic at any major airport is atop the parking garage at Sky Harbor's terminal four in Phoenix, with downtown Phoenix nearby as a backdrop. Sky Harbor is one of the closest major commercial airports to a downtown and just before the last Super Bowl, they finished the Sky Train to the car rental center.
One grass runway in PA near Stroudsburg, Pegasus airport I flew from and landed at has tall trees at each end of the runway, which requires a dive and then a sharp pull out into the flare, and I did it in a taildragger with the owner of the aircraft at the controls, showing off his ample practice at the landing..
But the grass slowed us down fast, it is easier to ground loop a taildragger on a paved runway. The plane was owned by a friend, it was a Vintage 1939 Luscombe 8A, the oldest aircraft I ever flew with an Ercoupe I flew in Texas a close second.
I love Jeb's silly hat!
Good to see the British plane represented here!
Great film, good job you have a Tech Expert with you!:D
❤ St. Barth’s 😉👍🏻
Great Video Jeb, Nice to see those take offs and landings.
very cool!
The hop over from San Juan to Culebra is also very similar to the St Barth landing 🛬
Love your videos: so much better with Mrs. B in them ! All good husbands know their role in life....
I believe Jeb was a little extra perky in this video. Beautiful aerial shots.
Awesome been waiting for this release! Great Job love the exposure for Saba!
Wake up babe, new Jeb video just dropped
You should do a visit to Roatan and Utila
01:40 Do those $18 burger include fries?
Luv Jeb's presentations!
Watching the terrific video reminded me of the approach to Nice, France airport. If you like "interestingly" siuated runways, you may want to check it out.
You have to see the one in Culebra island in Puerto Rico
OMG, you guys are so cute ❤ Loved the bloopers. Great video as always 😊
St. Maarten is fire! I've never been but want to go so bad. The Caribbean overall is a fun place to fly! Great vid and keep up the good work!
Hum.. just check the windsock. Wind from west and occur 1-3 days per year soTaking off is challenging.
So you miss my Mayday call for engine out 😂. It was around 10am.
St Maarten is gorgeous; glad you had fun there!
15:23 I am highly disappointed that Jeb didn't pull his trusty little tape measure, HAHA!
💥💥💥 Hey Jeb... How about you guys do a big trip on the King of the skies.. The A380... and show us the First Class experience.. Love your web site! Thanks!
That pizza looked amazing.......wish I could have grabbed a slice through the computer screen....
It was super delicious pizza. Thanks for watching!
Great video
I love that you are able to travel to so many cool places!
I have been on that little beach land mass above the runway in St Barthes when planes landing. Better experience than Malo Beach in st marten.
Like how you've add the airport codes. Is this a new feature?
Underrated
