@@v22u Same here. He paid a lot of money for row 26. It probably took him 15 minutes to board the plane, and at least that long to get off the plane. Small seat and no leg room, either. He's lucky he didn't have to sit between to fat people and gate check his bag.
Terrific video! Wow, I don't think there's enough coffee in the world that would sustain me on all the flights you took. Amazing! I was on many flights when I was active duty Navy and Navy Reserves. So in March 2003, I had a two week annual Navy Reserve training in Honolulu Hawaii. I live in Wisconsin. In Minneapolis, my flight was delayed about one and a half hours. All I knew was that I wanted to get the hell out of Minneapolis. It was 7 above zero Fahrenheit. It was soooo cold. The flight out of Minneapolis was about eight hours to Hawaii. It was a really long flight, United flight. Coming back home, it was a red eye out of Hawaii to Minneapolis. It left at 11 PM out of Hawaii and got to Minneapolis about 7 AM. I was so tired. My connecting flight was about one and a half hours from Minneapolis to Wisconsin. I recall having a coffee and then instantly falling asleep to Wisconsin. I was just totally wiped out from jet lag. I never sleep on planes, so when I woke up on final approach, I was shocked. I was glad to be home, but not happy about the cold wet weather.
Hey Jeb, I was on both your Charlotte and ORD flight. I wanted to say high but you were in the middle of filming so I decided not to bother. It was nice to have the MIA to ORD gate right next to the CLT to MIA gate. Glad to see the rest of your trip went well. Cheers 🥂
Great video Jeb! As a fellow Greensboro native now living in DC I agree I love DCA! I can walk into the airport, check my bag, go through security (no pre check) and get to my gate in 20 minutes or less. Super easy airport layout too, and the new E terminal is great! For Southwest, maybe try to see if there is information available that shows which airports Southwest rents the most gates at to consider those airports like a “hub.” Another idea would be to pick an airport in each time zone, like DCA, RDU, Memphis, Dallas, PHX, Denver and LA to do your hub hopping. Anyway looking forward to your next adventure!
Best part about your channel is you’re an AvGeek too. Most other channels don’t understand different fleet types, airport operations, or airline operations for that matter. They just see a plane with wings and expect them to all be the same.
You could do a hub hopping video for Alaska Airlines. All on the west coast, but some short flights and a couple of longer ones. Another idea that might be interesting from a planning perspective, and possibly seeing some more out of the way places is seeing if you could travel from coast to coast and not booking a flight on Boeing or Airbus planes.
He got out of the northeast quickly and did it first. That helped. If he had started in Chicago, then DFW, and points east before making his way to the northeast and then cross country JFK to LAX it would have been delay after delay.
@@JeanClaudeCOCO Agreed. One of the big reasons the Northeast is so challenging is that even when the issue is weather, or maintenance, the congested airspace means there are no shortcuts to be found, and speed restrictions are common to maintain spacing. Same with Florida, actually. It's much easier to make up for delays out west. Source - I make the flight plans
Love this series! Please do Alaska Airlines next(I know that it wouldn't be to hard but still fun!) Maybe Southwest, Spirit, Frontier is next. Keep up the good work Jeb!
I am blessed to arrive in and depart from every one of these hubs on American except for PHX, which was US Airways' (which amalgamated with American soon) hub back at the time I flew from / to there. Great making!
For Southwest, I think you should sort by routes served. According to SimpleFlying, it looks like these were its top airports and routs as of July 2022: Top airports and Routes: Denver 86 Chicago Midway 77 Las Vegas 63 Baltimore 69 Dallas Love 62 Phoenix 57 Houston Hobby 59 Nashville 54 Oakland 31 San Diego 25 There's such a drop between Nashville and Oakland that I think that makes the easy cutoff for 8 hubs.
American is definitely my airline of choice when I fly into PHX. Granted, it’s always just a short flight from my home airport, SNA, but still it’s far more enjoyable than Southwest. Thanks for taking the time to make this great video.
As someone who flies out of Philadelphia airport frequently, this is the cleanest I’ve ever seen the airport look and I’ve left on an American airline flight at 5 in the morning.
Thank you for your great videos. I'm curious what you you think about AA CEO said no passengers want the tv screens since they have there own laptop, phones etc. So they took them out on domestic. Dl and UA are adding them. You should have a video about that.
Having not been to DCA or LGA in over 30 years, I can’t say how nice they are currently. Phoenix and PHL are the hubs I’ve spent most time in. I like them both because I can get a long walk in without leaving the secure area. I find this very helpful, especially after longer flights.
DCA is like a breeze now, in and out. Once you’ve cleared centralize security you can roam most of the gates. Plus the distances are shorter when disembark to your luggage and then get a train, or Uber. With only a carryon you can get out of the airport in 5-10 mins.
Absolutely love your hub hopping video series and please try WN "de-facto" hubs. One point of constructive criticism I really wish you would have included JFK as a red eye flight at the end.
I missed this when you first posted because I was finally wheel’s up for the first time since the pandemic, IAD-> LAX -> DCA via Alaska in first! Now that I’ve done it safely, I can’t wait to do more of it
Regarding jumping on the earlier flight to LGA, I think it's perfectly fine and clever. As Homer Simpson said (S16E20), "I saw my advantage and took it. That's what heroes do."
I find that with many RUclipsrs it is popular to bash American Airlines. However, my experiences with AA in 2024 have been exactly like Jeb's in this video. Punctual, professional crews, solid product, smooth luggage service. No doubt an airline this huge has its problems, but we can also call out its successes too.
Instead of doing a hub-hopping video for Southwest, you could do "A day on a single southwest plane", where you stay on one plane and follow it for its entire day, showing how many stops it makes and where. That would probably make more sense for Southwest's business model!
I've only been on American Airlines twice however as the Embraer ERJ-175 to Greensboro and back to Fiorello LaGuardia Airport! I plan on talking my next ride to the Ben Elbert Douglas Senior International Airport! Thanks for the amazing video!
I love how you got a splendid shot of N647AW at about 6:09. It’s a little piece of aviation history: originally ordered by Braniff, repurchased and delivered to America West Airlines, then US Airways, and now, American. There aren’t all that many planes of that age still flying and looking that good in passenger service anymore. It is a real testament to the brilliance and reliability of the Airbus A-320 series.
Didn’t know that it was the oldest, that’s cool. Those A320s that started with America West Airlines back in the 1990s when they were growing so fast out of Phoenix Sky Harbor have sure had some very impressive service histories. And even though they’re old, a it’s fantastic that some of those America West airbuses are still around. They’re still quite reliable, plus they’re fully paid off.
Another entertaining stream! You thought that the reason for the "penalty box" was a little weird? I flew AA through CLT this past July on my way home to TPA. The flight did board on time. HOWEVER, we sat on the plane at the gate for about an hour and a half. The flight crew did try to make up excuses and keep us informed until the truth was finally told. There was NO FIRST OFFICER! They made us deplane and wait in an already overcrowded concourse. Don't you think it would've been nice to tell us BRFORE boarding! 😂
I am a big fan of your hop hopping videos! I personally feel lucky living near Washington DC. Personally for me, I like Dulles more than Reagan, but Reagan is still a very easy airport, especially since they moved the Security check!
Jeb- been watching this channel for about 7 years now. Started watching because my little brother enjoyed them, and now I just watch the uploads myself. Super relaxing for some reason! I fly for PSA Airlines these days (flying the PSA CRJ-700s and 900s) and I’m always hoping to see you hop onto my flight. Hasn’t happened yet, but seeing that 700 from PHL gave me a little hope😅 Maybe one of these days! Keep up the good work.
I grew up 5 miles north of DFW, so every airport interaction I had for the first twenty some odd years of my life was just a big old loopy-loop trying to survive the roads through the airport (and they were always under construction). Getting through DFW in general, not for the faint of heart!
Idea for a Southwest video: start in the airline's busiest airport, which is Denver. With no plans ahead of time. Nothing booked. Look up the cheapest non-stop flight within the next 4 hours, and fly wherever it is. Then, when you get to that airport, look up the next bookable non-stop flight, and so on and so forth. I definitely have a city-hopping with no plans ahead of time on my bucket list. I hope to do it someday. What you could do, for finance purposes would be to book the flights ahead of time, using the same metrics (Cheapest non-stop flight) but have a loved one or a close friend do it, and not tell you ahead of time. So, you aren't paying the last minute flight fares....but you still have the "I have no idea where we will end up" part of it.
Surely the absolute quickest version of this would've been a late night LAX -> PHX, then a redeye to the east coast and all the rest of the flights in one day, ending at ORD or DFW but I can understand why you didn't attempt that even more brutal schedule. Thank you for all of your great content!
Love the videos, the amount of time and effort put in is spectacular. We need to see an Alaska one.. though all the hubs are on the west coast and Alaska.
Great hub hopping, with so many hubs I didn't even thought Jeb will need an overnight in DFW.. Anyway, this would be also cool in Canada with Air Canada, flying through (hub/large station) Montreal, Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver.
been doing nonrev for over 9 years. gotta try to do it offseason. that is all. the best part of working for a major airline in europe. you've flown with us before and made a cool video too. would be nice to have you on board again.
agreed that the new LGA is pretty amazing. I was there last year on Delta, and while it wasn't fully completed, what was completed was gorgeous and spacious!
Great videos! I’ve also done AA hub hopping as a non-rev last year. Route I have was DFW-LAX-PHX-MIA-TPA-CLT-PHL-DCA-LGA-ORD-HSV-DFW. Had to do TPA and HSV since no seats were available so need to be creative. Keep up the good videos!
My favorite hub is DFW Airport because the airport is so huge and you can walk and ride the train all you want. I also live in Dallas as well, which is another reason I like DFW. Great video!
For a southwest video it would be hard because that have a major presence in California, but here’s what I came up with Baltimore-midway-Kansas city-love field-Denver-Phoenix-Burbank-Oakland -Long Beach-sacramento-san joes sounds impossible to me but I would love to be proven wrong. Also I would love to see an Alaska hub hopping video as well!

Sky Harbor ranks as one of my least favorite airports, overall. I've been there many times, but it just doesn't impress me.
I would never give up a first class seat to make up time in economy.
@@v22u Same here. He paid a lot of money for row 26. It probably took him 15 minutes to board the plane, and at least that long to get off the plane. Small seat and no leg room, either. He's lucky he didn't have to sit between to fat people and gate check his bag.
PHX is my least favorite. Been stuck there too many times and lousy food choices.
I love the honesty with how you were feeling. Thank you for sacrificing sanity to bring us great content!
You should do a Southwest “hub hopping” through OAK, LAX, LAS, PHX, DEN, DAL, HOU, MDW, ATL, MCO, and BWI
And Memphis
Cheers 🥂
Next time! Sorry we didn’t get to meet!!
Hub hopping is so back
Best part about your channel is you’re an AvGeek too. Most other channels don’t understand different fleet types, airport operations, or airline operations for that matter. They just see a plane with wings and expect them to all be the same.
Wow, the approaches into Washington and NYC ... stunning!
right?! I don't see those views whenever I take that route 😅
Great video as always! I’m amazed you made it through this many American flights without a serious delay.
It would be super cool if you could visit the Southwest 'hubs' that are the secondary airports in their respective cities (DAL, HOU, MDW, etc)
First, United then, Delta, I think??? And now American. Unbelievable. Good job Jeb.👍🏻
This is easily one of my favourite series on the channel. Great work! 😊👍
According to SimpleFlying, it looks like these were its top airports and routs as of July 2022: Top airports and Routes:
Denver 86
Chicago Midway 77
Las Vegas 63
Baltimore 69
Dallas Love 62
Phoenix 57
Houston Hobby 59
Nashville 54
Oakland 31
San Diego 25
There's such a drop between Nashville and Oakland that I think that makes the easy cutoff for 8 hubs.
Yes, but then he'd have no West Coast airports
American is definitely my airline of choice when I fly into PHX. Granted, it’s always just a short flight from my home airport, SNA, but still it’s far more enjoyable than Southwest. Thanks for taking the time to make this great video.
Finally! Can’t wait to see this. Huge fan of the hub hopping series.
Man you can absolutely tell how physically taxing the travel started to get for you once you hit Dallas. We appreciate your dedication sir 🫡
At 27:19 Jeb got a shot of the now Demolished Fiesta Mall in Mesa Arizona. Grew up going to that mall. Great Shot Jeb!
I always love these hub hopping videos, especially seeing you in airports I've never been in or terminals I've never been in
Being South African it was very intersting seeing you flying over America. Thank you
Absolutely love your hub hopping video series and please try WN "de-facto" hubs.
Love these hub hopping videos. Would love to know if people sitting next to you notice you are filming/talking to your phone.
Instead of doing a hub-hopping video for Southwest, you could do "A day on a single southwest plane", where you stay on one plane and follow it for its entire day, showing how many stops it makes and where. That would probably make more sense for Southwest's business model!
You guys are awesome! Love your original, unique work!
As of now, that plane is currently the oldest in the fleet. It’s cool it was in the video
Jeb shouting us non-revers out was great! We are sitting in SYD after a flagship first nonrev flight!
Maybe your next hub hopping will be on Alaska, to be a bit easier (ANC➡️SEA➡️PDX➡️SFO➡️LAX) after this one
As an AA gate agent I love watching this. Most people rag on AA staff, its nice to hear something good once in a while.
Every gate agent I encountered on this trip was a STAR! They were all so professional and got us going quickly!
That is amazing! Thank you for all the awesome work you put in!@@GreenerGrass
As my dad is a Mechanic at AA for 22 years in Phoenix, he thought it was pretty cool to see you connect through all the hub airports.
Love the vids
I grew up 5 miles north of DFW, so every airport interaction I had for the first twenty some odd years of my life was just a big old loopy-loop trying to survive the roads through the airport (and they were always under construction). Getting through DFW in general, not for the faint of heart!
19:43 "that chicken was terrrible" "I know I hated it, very raw" LOLL
Always appreciate your videos Jeb!
agreed that the new LGA is pretty amazing. I was there last year on Delta, and while it wasn't fully completed, what was completed was gorgeous and spacious!
Lived in Alexandria VA for 12yrs. National Airport approaches coming home always a treat: spectacular!!
Hi Jeb, you know what they say about an early bird getting...the best view of New York. Another great introduction to American landscapes, but I am sure that Susanne would have preferred to book nine international cities....I know I would. Many thanks to both of you from Melbourne, Aust.
Jeb, seeing Bojangles at CLT made me think - what if you did a little food tour of local restaurants in airports and other dining options outside of lounges! Like Frontera at ORD, etc
Woah, what a video! Glad that the weather didn't affect you at all and that things worked out. Well done as always!
I have been to many of their hubs, I am a former ramp worker for America West, than US airways. Good on you for doing this.
As always you make high quality professional content and with some humor. Was a Pleasure to runnin into you at in DFW a year back.
Great video as always, Jeb! I’d love to see you do an Alaska Airlines hub hopping video one of these days!
