You know, I was about to say "same", but then I remembered that the reason I had found this channel was from Cube World, and his intro to Hyper Lighter Drifter made me buy/play it. Actually, now that I look back at his videos, it seems I've played a few of the games. Guess I just viewed most of his work to be mostly horror/isometric arpg/more obscure indie stuff
Maybe I'm the only one, but ever since you posted how you were kinda bummed that your last two vids flopped I've really made an effort watching all your uploads and liking them as quickly as possible. I love your vids!
No one has mentioned that hilarious jump to a Riley Reid reference from talking about go and it is criminal. I saw that, well done sir! I chuckled quite a bit
Jacob is currently my favorite game reviewer. I can't really put a finger on why I find his videos of higher quality and more entertaining. I guess he just built different 💪 Keep up the good work man. I know for a fact you're gonna be consistently getting millions of views every video. Love you broseph ❤️
Your videos are wonderful and a true gift when you upload. The CIA bit was fucking hilarious to me. I am a boatbuilder by trade in real life ( unfortunately mostly fibreglass composite. We do have a few returning customers have massive wooden hull ships though) so I found this video hilarious on that level too. Thanks for this, as per usual it's appreciated. I Hope your family, friends and yourself are doing well!
This has become one of my favorite channels on yt. Certainly up there with the likes of mandalore and Sseth for me in the gaming sphere. I hope the channel does well and that you get back into learning game dev
Also try: Oceanhorn With none of the Minecraft, but all of the Zelda instead :) I 100%ed it a while back, something I did not anticipate when starting it up. They managed to make the world the exact right size to be able to remember all the spots you need to come back to once you get [key exploration item].
It feels like Valheim's little sister game, it has more cartoony graphics and instead of focusing on base building it instead focuses on boat building (while also making it your base), and since I liked the sailing in Valheim I might give this a try when I'm done with Valheim. 15:00 Also am I the only one who thought of Metal Gear Solid whenever Jacob mentions metal gear (gear as in equipment XD)!?
Nice to see a proper review of this. I was curious about it after seeing Lazy Peon play it but a much more comprehensive and informed video like this is really useful.
I do not enjoy the game too much, but I do appreciate your explanation of the boat’s capabilities. I’m currently on the 4th world and may use this info for now on though the thought of building multiple boats is maddening.
Best sailing mechanics I've been in a video game. With the 3rd "DLC" out, it finally feels like a complete game, although it could use more refining. And that's the best part about Windbound, there's nothing inherently wrong with it. It's a great base, and a lot more modes, challenges, or modifications can be added to it to make it even better.
About the grievance about boat designing tutorial how about they just put random shipwrecks with different design? You learn organically and there's more place of interest I don't know about the lore or if there _is_ shipwrecks because I only half watching the video while drawing R34 of Lord Shen But I'd say it's a neat idea.
I think Subnautica does really well when it comes to base-building vs exploration. The world is finite and not procedurally generated first off, but it's still pretty big. Whilst you do build static bases, you can also eventually create a large submarine that can serve as a mobile mini base, allowing you to explore further from your main base more easily. You will need to return to your base regularly though, in order to refuel and restock
this guys vids are great surprised i havnt seen them sooner, didnt even come up on my feed found one looking for a review on some other random game i saw on steam
I feel like every game you review could be genuinely improved by the developers hearing what you have to say. You give some real, good, constructive criticism, along with ways to improve what's not done as well as it could have been done.
The part where you talked about making the home base mobile to solve the "stay in orbit" problem also reminded me of Starbound. The ship expands in a similar way to fit your needs while you travel. Those sorts of features are really quite nice.
With exception to the time i got ganked by two sharks that destroyed a big chunk of my boat, making it almost impossible to use, i had a good time playing this game. And sailing at insane speed with the boost enchantment on the boat is awesome.
I've been playing windbound on survivalist for a solid year and honestly it's a very satisfying game but it's also needlessly hard. I love me some Monster Hunter, Hotline Miami 2, League of Legends, Cave Story and other "difficult" games, but the biggest problem with Windbound is like four things. 1. When you die you're set back way too far. (HLM2) 2. The combat which is supposed to feel intuitive and fluid, ends up being blocky and shitty while the monsters and enemies you're facing end up being far more fluid. (Monster Hunter Gens 1-GU have animation locks and stuff but it's assisted by being able to dodge and constantly having a high up time, something that this game does not have) That being said, it's the combat of Windbound can still be learned. 3. The inclusion of a DLC that adds an entire extra layer of combat on top of the aforementioned issues. 4. Ticking stamina bar is not a favorite mechanic of mine. I enjoy exploring the maps I'm spawned on but I don't enjoy having to constantly worry about my stamina or having to circle back to one island so that I can get the meat to fuel my exploration of the game.
Warning opinions: Dying is fun - you just need to know how to organize your inventory. The top bar of your inventory doesn't go away, so the right items can get you up and running in short order as though you never died.
check "The Swords of Ditto: Mormo's Curse" (i think in the first month of release and after year . totally revamped it structure) the devs also updated the game what made it far more enjoyable . you used to have less time before the boss last confrontation . if you did not get enough upgrades and items from dungeons before the time run out . too bad . you will fight the boss without being ready . the game used to be too punishing and stressful even when you know what to do . but good feedback from the community and devs seeing how to improve it . made it much better game .
I fee like instead of putting a half assed souls combat, they should had done boat combat. Arrows are precise and easy to use, but does piss poor damage. Cannons do huge damage but you need to rotate your entire boat and use the waves to incline up. It would make a better use of the realistic boat simulation
So it's basically Raft, except it's actually designed to be a singleplayer experience rather than having a singleplayer option in a multiplayer focused game. Sounds good to me!
Your necropolis review was one of the furrrst I’d ever seen and I’ve been here since. Your reviews are top notch, even though we aren’t the same type of gamer, you find the good and bad in games regardless of your own tastes
Can't really think of a comment, so I'll just point out that there are actually some poor souls on reddit complaining about the character being female.
I don't know how you did it but this video feels both longer and shorter than it actually is (I feel very informed thanks to you, but at no part in the video did I feel tired of listening). Kudos!
"idk if I will like this game tbh, looks like not my cup of tea..." Procedurally generated open world Rouge lite Survival Souls-like "where is my wallet."
played it thanks to epic games free game rotation but ignored it for a long time the game is pretty small but cute enough to worth a play and since it has endless mode and permadeath it has a replay value i draw oceanic trash art the water looks stylized but its nothing compared to sea of thieves waters its not realistic enough so the graphics kinda not aged well but stylized compensate for it a little bit cause i know that materials and lighting react differently in an angle and if the surface is wet but finding a lets say a floating box and how wetness reflect the sky is near impossible to find and well improvising based on skill is the only option there is cause making a render requires 3D or game engine skill that i clearly dont have if they make a sequel or a similar game by a different company the graphics would be way ahead and the closest thing i can compare this game is to that stranded deep survival game and they probably need to improve physics a bit and more events these types of sea exploration games are pretty much open and have a ton of creative freedom just like dragon games and i mean real dragon games not the ones pretending to be or asset flips without a soul what i like about the games that focus on sailing and ocean and the environment itself and randomization makes it not repetitive cause some locations gonna be different each time but not enough variants
Sail on over to GoG and buy this game to help me pay for rare collectible gremlins toys: af.gog.com/en/game/windbound?as=1678711979
Man I have not played a single game this guy reviews including cyberpunk but I still love every one of his videos
Same
Dont be sad my guy i love you
@@lukasantonwernerlenz thanks man I love you too
Same tbh

Same over here!
It's downright criminal that your channel hasn't exploded in popularity yet
No one has mentioned that hilarious jump to a Riley Reid reference from talking about go and it is criminal. I saw that, well done sir! I chuckled quite a bit
Just a random suggestion, Rain World. It may take a while and you should go blind if you play it.
I second 🥈 this
This is a great suggestion.
This could be useful for losing sanity
I support this
ohhh yeah, it would be interesting for sure
I love how each animal and enemy has their own tune so that you can hear them before seeing them. Love it!
Jacob is currently my favorite game reviewer. I can't really put a finger on why I find his videos of higher quality and more entertaining. I guess he just built different 💪

"Ramzca is a Reptillian Dont believe the lie" - a roast months in the making!
doing my part to keep Jacob out of the warlock crystal! No wonder the video is this long you immediately went on a side adventure about boats haha
Gotta love the 4am video

Love your content dude. Always surprises me that you aren't a bigger channel.
Only needs "Multiple Leviathan Class life forms detected. Are you sure what you're doing is worth it?" to be interesting.
Smith Metal Gear was a top tier bit. Well done
Also try: Oceanhorn
With none of the Minecraft, but all of the Zelda instead :) I 100%ed it a while back, something I did not anticipate when starting it up. They managed to make the world the exact right size to be able to remember all the spots you need to come back to once you get [key exploration item].
Me waiting for oceanhorn 2 to go on sale -> 😭😭🥺🥺🥺😭😭😭😭
I feel you :D
That sneaky Hank Hill had me dying. Great stuff as always
Dude, your Agony stick comment is the reason i subbed to your channal! I have no idea why, but your voice cures my panic attacks!

This game is a wonderful, if flawed, gem of a game in my opinion.

I know humor is subjective, but damn bro. You're funny.

I like how your pleas for us to ring the notification bell are getting progressively more desperate and arcane. Keep up the good work!
16:34 you are a bolder man than I, to offend the Todds...
Btw, sailing sideways as shown at around 5:00 is called Gunwhale running (You pronounce gunwhale gunnel), at least when I went sailing
This is my request for more videos like this.
I think hearing that sailing theme finally sold me on triying the game
Warning opinions: Dying is fun - you just need to know how to organize your inventory. The top bar of your inventory doesn't go away, so the right items can get you up and running in short order as though you never died.

I went from being completely disinterested to somewhat curious, which is pretty good for a video.
For 30 minute video it felt closer to 10, great video man. Also Blue fire might be a good game to review, at least it looked interesting.
Ngl that summary makes me really want this game
Seeing how fun the sailing is gives me hope for a one piece game
8:49 Can't wait for that Raft review if you like this mobile base idea.
When I actually finish my game I'm sending it to you
Stone soup man! That's the pocket game of mine to go for when internet dies or in wait for something.
This isn't a review, this is a full breakdown.
I've witnessed a catamaran flip end over end. The sea is a harsh mistress.
man perfect timing, love to wake up on a game review video
I think Valheim has the best sailing mechanics when it comes to simulation, love it.
Go review when?
You can't blueball us forever.
An enjoyable perspective and analysis as always. Thank you
Literally just a comment for the almighty algorithm because i really enjoy your channel!
Sounds like I should just go play Valheim instead.
Jacob on the RUclips sprint.Hope the algorythm is good to you buddy.
Nice video man! Love your work

Good shit man. Keep up the good work.
Can't really think of a comment, so I'll just point out that there are actually some poor souls on reddit complaining about the character being female.
Thanks for the review. Good content!
The general premise reminds me of another game I have on my wish list about walking land ships. It's not good but the idea is cool.
Oh it's gunna be a good day bois
hey jacob, i just picked up Rain World a few days ago, it feels like the type of game you would play and make videos about.
Do you have merch? I'd kill for a Sharpen Some Sticks and Get to Work Shirt!
not yet, its on the list
I don't know how you did it but this video feels both longer and shorter than it actually is (I feel very informed thanks to you, but at no part in the video did I feel tired of listening). Kudos!
He is the best pirate I have ever seen
So much wish I'd seen this before buying... such a good concept though!
I'm too stoned to keep watching this video while doing dishes, but i was enyoing it so far tbh
Man I wish my valheim longship moved that fast.
Hopefully the ships update will allow us to upgrade our ships or build faster ones.
Another good video but man I wish they didn't upload at like 4am for me. 😅
The Todd Howard meme just works.
Awesome work ethic. That's how many videos this month?
I miss my cyclops base from subnautica.
Tacking against the wind? Now that's realism right there.
I got the game for free off the Epic Games launcher, so my opinion is based on getting it for free. And yeah with that in mind it's great.
"idk if I will like this game tbh, looks like not my cup of tea..."
Procedurally generated
open world
Rouge lite
Survival
Souls-like
"where is my wallet."
Amazing world... shitty combat... I'm having Outward's PTSD
Looks nice nonetheless; nice review
Well...there's Valheim so I'm looking forward to how you feel about it.
Thank you, will have a look at this game
I'd love to see your take on Valheim
P R O D E U R A L L Y
Gotta love those prodeurally games
Great review... so i subscribed
keep up the good work my dude
good vid as usual, good job man
Hey Jacob! Could you please review pathologic 2 on ps4 on it's current state? I'm not sure whether it's been patched at this point.
How is it performs on switch? I’ve seen reviews saying it’s performing bad, but they were from around a year ago so I don’t now if its patched or not.
Your videos are a god send
played it thanks to epic games free game rotation but ignored it for a long time
the game is pretty small but cute enough to worth a play and since it has endless mode and permadeath it has a replay value
i draw oceanic trash art the water looks stylized but its nothing compared to sea of thieves waters its not realistic enough so the graphics kinda not aged well but stylized compensate for it a little bit cause i know that materials and lighting react differently in an angle and if the surface is wet
but finding a lets say a floating box and how wetness reflect the sky is near impossible to find and well improvising based on skill is the only option there is cause making a render requires 3D or game engine skill that i clearly dont have
if they make a sequel or a similar game by a different company the graphics would be way ahead and the closest thing i can compare this game is to that stranded deep survival game
and they probably need to improve physics a bit and more events
these types of sea exploration games are pretty much open and have a ton of creative freedom just like dragon games and i mean real dragon games not the ones pretending to be or asset flips without a soul
what i like about the games that focus on sailing and ocean and the environment itself and randomization makes it not repetitive cause some locations gonna be different each time but not enough variants
Hopefully they'll put this on the game pass
I’d rather have an okay game doing okay things rather than an okay game that makes you pay to do okay things *looking at you EA and Activision*
Watching this video is almost as rewarding as playing the game, perhaps more so🥰
Anything that is like Subnautica,me like!
8:54 do spiritfarer please :D
I think a video on your thoughts on terraria would be interesting now that it’s final update has come and gone.
lol they’re still updating the game fuck me I guess
Great video, but that's par for the course at this point.
God I miss worlds adrift
Love your content.
This video is amazing. Too bad I'll never play this game. Still - amazing :).
