I threw that iron flask at the spectator in the underdark and they actually fought eachother...for a turn.

Beholders hate each other as much as they hate everyone else. Every beholder thinks they're the absolute pinnacle of the species and sees all others as inferior given them a bad name.
Imagine stealthily pickpocketing a HUGE CHEST out someone's pocket, lmao.
A Strongbox doesn't have to be huge (just think of those little safe boxes that people use at car boot sales...)
Target is 20 so it's indeed very hard

For me I saw the chest, opened the chest, saw the creepy flask, saved game, opened creepy flask, panicked and load past save

I have a little story that makes this hit me differently.
In my current DnD campaign Descend into Avernus my character is a high elf sorcerer with amnesia that party found in hell (since my previous character died permanently).
Yada yada yada, we save Elthurel, and as we ascend from Avernus the curse is lifted and my memory is back. Now where fun part comes in. I remember being a noble in a city we know, about 30 years ago. Even more, I was an important lord of waterways and canals, and I married the girl from common folk. My name was Lord Basset Vanthampur and my little son is called Thurstfel. Well... at least he was before the party murdered him and my wife. To make things even funnier it was my previous character who dealt killing blows.
Now we officially ended the module... but the campaign is still going and I am very excited to see how the story will end

@@demogorghon I DM a game of DiA currently. The Paladin ended up Jojo walking into the room, getting hit a tonne and just kept going. Ended up backhanding Thurstwell with a shove out of the window and fell to his death 😂
The Paladins reaction go just straight up yeeting him to death was phenominal, left the party in creases.
Attempting to imagine a campaign that thurstwell survives is impossible for me.

i accidently killed scratch when i opened it in camp luckily i saved right beforehand
I knew it was sketchy when I first saw it. I just thought it was a potion. And I don't usually use potions. Until the final big fight my mouse was having issues and wasn't clicking properly. And I was trying to throw a healing potion to gale for heals. But instead I clicked on the iron flask and threw it. Needless to say gale was toast. But the spectator killed a lot of the enemies as well as my allies.
I double clicked it and it opened, wanted to examine it, managed to kill it while completely panicked, this happened in the underdark because I'd only just noticed it in astarions inventory
@@Skilful_3751Same. The thing that killed me is that I re did the fight 5 times because the dang spectator literally HUNTED for scratch. It even opened the doors to the room I locked Scratch in, just to kill scratch!
And I had thought that it would be a genie.
I did it in camp as well, thought scratch would respawn... He never did.
Yeah. I just kill them, take the flask, and throw it from the steps into cazadors ritual. The trash mobs will encircle the spectator and when one turn has passed, you should upcast fireball into the encircled mob. Then it's just you and cazador.
BTW, if you stay on the steps, your team doesn't get pulled into initiative until the fireball is cast, and Astarion can stay on the steps for ranged attacks.
A Gloomsassin Astarion can also straight-up gank Cazador with the right setup in the surprise round.
You can also get it during the quest to get Minsc if you give it back to the Zentarim. Just kill the halfling as she runs away during the Minsc encounter and she will have it in her inventory.
I think its super cool we get to see snippets of the Vanthampurs in baldurs gate 3, especially as someone who played through the campaign module with my group before learning about and playing bg3
I looted the chest and let them deliver it empty because fuck them for not helping more during that fight
On my first playthrough I opened the chest but then still brought it to The hideout. They attacked me for the just being unlocked lol
I tossed the iron flask at the first floor of Moonrise before starting the final battle and closed the door with arcane lock. Then I mopped up after preforming on my lyre safely outside .
Still pissed the painter won't make my portrait
Minor spoil : In fact you can get him to do your portrait if you help him you find him again later in game and there is the possibility to get it done.

Uh, but he will? Sure, you have to do an extra quest in Act 3, but you get a portrait.

Alternatively you could just steal the chest and never meet with the Zhentarium.. this does give you secret Dialogue where during Minsc's quest, with the gang war.. the Iron Flask, when revealed,makes you an auto-matic enemy with the Zhentarium.
After reading the desc. I knew something nasty was inside.
I used it as my ace in the sleeve to penetrate moonrise towers groundfloor.
Musta been low difficulty I did this and all it did was show me what happens when a spectator gets bodied I spent so much time being terrified of a spectator just to see it easily be bodied by a guard I one tapped
If you loot the chest without the two noticing you get the positive out come as well
The flask says it traps Anyone inside, i tried to trap halsin with it and boom big eye monster

The first time I broke the flask was while I was at camp. In short - a huge mess and Scratch is dead forever. Death by acid without revival.

Best way to use that think is throwing it out in the dark part of the shadow cursed lands. Then letting it die and come back as an undead, then Planer Binding it. Lets you keep it as a pet until it dies.
There's actually another way to get this outcome without meeting the Zhentarim first. If you rescue the couriers from the gnolls, you can convince Rugen yhat he would make more money going around he Zentarim and partnering with you. requires a persuasion check, but not a terribly difficult one if you put any proficiency in persuasion and don't suck at charisma. The rest of the quest plays out mostly the same, but you don't have to steal the chest and the flask back because you already have it when you get to the hideout and Rugen is being interrogated.
I had the chest in my inventory by accident for like the entire playthrough until I was looking and wondered why I had a random chest. I lock picked it and had no clue what the flask was so I just held onto it assuming I could trap something in there. Currently at the ending and let’s just say I got myself an extra “ally”
Only used it vs Raphael 😂 I was desperate, but it actually helped as I launched it behind enemy lines, and it distracted and disrupted them quite a bit, enough for me me to clear up the battlefield a little, and gain the upper hand.
In the end I had to kill the spectator myself when it had little life left and was starting to attack my party due to too few enemies remaining standing. All of this on Balanced mode. Now I am doing Tactician, and I plan to do the same
It's also a good place to use it on the courtyard where all the Absolute enemies are (the part before the climb up past all the Mind Flayers and brains).
It sits at the back sniping off the annoying archers. Throwing the big bomb from the underdark also works as long as you lob it with a strong person off a high ledge

I found the chest and opened it before evening knowing about the note and before ever meeting the lady. She straight up fought me. Though i was going to go all murder hobo on them when i saw they were slave trading people, aka the artist. 😅
Man, I stumbled across this quest by chance. Saw gnolls outside a cave, killed them, the agents were dead. Find the flask, just opened it 😅 So you don't have to activate quest
I made the fatal error of not knowing what it was, then throwing it at the floor only to have to spend a whole day defeating it...

I tried to get it back in the Iron Flask after releasing it by frantically getting to where the flask fell before picking it up and throwing it at it…but it only made it angrier. It would’ve been a fun but dangerous summon.

I like keeping this thing on me as my own personal mahoraga. Like every time I’m bouta die i just summon it and see what happens. I usually still die but i like to think i took them with me in that timeline before going back to my save.
Or. Use illithud powers on knolls. Make them kill the 2 zhents, and then each other. Take the chest after knolls are dead. Head to zhent base. Say you have the chest. Get Harold and gold. Push or shoot Zarys off then shoot flameable
Barrels. They all die. Take chest from corpse and all good new gear from merchant. Titanbow, electric armor, giant breaker. Fun stuff
This is definitely the most efficient way, though you def want to buy Brem's stuff before you push her down there. You also need to kill her before long resting to get the chest back.
Accidentally stumbled upon the Gnolls beating the ever living shit out of the two poor souls (olly and whatshisname) and while I was mind controlling the leader into killing its own (killing itself in the process) the two guys were already dead. I never even knew any of this was possible or that any of these characters existed. And i lockpicked the chest and got the flask. So uh... Profit I guess?
I killed everyone who a between me and this wonderful thing. In act 2, Beholder just obliterated every poor soul in Moonlight Tower when we go to defeat Thorn
I talked them into giving me the chest. I felt SO BAD when I got Ollie killed, poor kid 😭

First time i interacted eith the flask it was in the middle of Ketherick's first boss battle. Needless to say i was very startled.
For anyone saying its not like Warframe.
The Ultimate Characters are literally the prime example that this game is like Warftame.
Normal = Normal. In this case i will Say Bunny = Volt.
Prime = Ultimate.
I wont be surprised if later down the line they also copy Warframes Umbral Mechanics.
And the Weapon system is very Destiny. Primary, Energy and Heavy.
Does the story live up to Warframes? That i have no idea yet.
There are actually 2 iron flasks I ve found, one was empty near the spectator in under dark I think.
yup if you listen to the petrified guy who has the memory crystal for the forge questline, he says his friend throws it at him after and argument and runs off lol
I was get this flask when I go to fight gnols, who attack two guys, gnols obey me, they get slaughter them, than themself all via dialogs, than I go search chest. Didn't steal anything
I was playing with a friend and wanted to see if I could catch em like a pokemon. I was not thinking about it being filled.
It's awesome for Honor Mode if you throw it at Dror Ragzlin from the rafters
I found it in my first play though and save it till act 3 and yeet it in middle Gortash room he single hand wipe entire room except robot and gortash but it enough for me to clean both of them
I stumbled into this quest by asking gnoll to kill dude in the cave. Kept the dumb chest until act 3 and gave it to inatra and just got a thanks. Looks like my char got something but nothinf in inventory.
Finished the game did see one uppertonity to unleash it
my first play through i didn’t know you shouldnt open the casket i didnt find the letter, so i open it give it to the lady she attacks me says i doomed them all so i reload right before that then just threw it at her and it finished most of them while i looted and killed the rest. what i didn’t know is you could steal it back after gaining favor ill try it on my next run i love fighting beholders they are so creepy and cool at the same time.

I ran into Rugan before running into Zarys. I opened chest, took flask and kept it. Have not opened it. Still not sure exactly what it does. Trying to avoid too many spoilers.
I opened it in the camp, not knowing what I was 😂
Used during the attack on the druids grove, minthara didn’t last long 😅
This is not the only route to access all of the rewards, it is simply one of a few variations. I really get a tad irritated with RUclipsrs claiming to have the single solution to something in BG3... Its a little pathetic because it means they either have not played the game enough, or they are scamming you. Either way, its sad..

I've tried the flask to help with a few different fights but not sure the best to use it for.
I got the flask 4 times before I actually found that cellar so I never knew what fucking place he was talking about hahahaha love this game perfect example again 😅 that Caravan dude always told me their password to their hideout but somehow I never found it because I hated that burning house bullshit so I avoided it 😂
I’ll say this I was very disappointed I yeeted this into to goblin camp and just watched as they literally bodied a spectator

I found it in Act 3 after fighting the zentharim with the Guild. But I never opened it.
Or you you can open it in act 2 to kill it and have it come back as an undead for an oath breaker paladin...
I lured them out the have had Astarion steal it screw them for letting me fight the gnolls i came there to help them and they left me out to dry
Still sad that it's useless after you unleash the Spectator that doesn't even drop any loot. I thought it would work like a pokeball ☹️
don't bother saving Rugen it can prevent you from getting Harold
Ive never not gotten harold, and ive done basically every way to complete that quest, aside from killing everyone in the oupost
@@beepbeeplettuce5890 I've had the Rugen tied up scene twice, and both times it resulted in me not getting Harold, just some gold. I've also exhausted every outcome/possibility. Now I just like to sneak in the back with enhanced leap and take the chest without getting into combat, and then come back later to kill the knolls. If you kill Zarys before you long rest/leave she will still have the shipment on her, I like to push her off the cliff and blow everyone up after I've acquired Brenn's good stuff.
I didnt know what it was and opened it willy nilly right after a hard fight with voss' goons in act 1. Regret it very much 😅

Or you could do it like me rescue them without knowing its a quest, role a 13 on a 10 intimidation then roll a nat 20 on the lock pick batter bing batter boom

What's the secret shop's contents? Also, I never could side with the zhentharim. As a barbarian with only 8 intellect, I have an attitude problem. If you say the wrong thing or use too difficult words for me to understand, I will take it as an insult. So, simple unga bunga language, or die. Friend or foe?
Titanbow (str modifier to dmg) giant slayer crossbow (gives condition reeling for two turns) gloves of thievery (S Tier item for act 1, gives adv to sleight of hand) and sparks vest(if you have lightning charges while hit it gives shocked to attackers) and a rare dyes which are IMO valuable for drip early game
lol only the best bow (titanstring) in all of act1/2 and the best heavy crossbows until act 3.
I'm 8 or 9 playthroughs in, and it never occurred to me that Zarys has the chest. Normally, I just murder everyone in there for the exp, and whenever I loot her body, it's never there. Does see need to be alive for it to show up?

So, yet another quest that started in act one that fell flat in act 3.
I kept it right till the end as a distraction in the large courtyard at the end; it stops all the archers annoying you if you can throw it far enough away

What does the cross bow do
Nothing special. But earning the favor of the Zentarim let's you access the special inventory of the vendor, who has a few really nice items, including the Titan String Bow, which is arguably the best bow in the game (3 very good bows, the others being Gontr Mael and Deadshot), and the only top tier bow available before act 3.

@@user-mu8ok5xf8d You could just google "bg3 Harold", but since you are too lazy to do that, it's a +1 heavy crossbow that has a chance to apply Bane.
@@user-mu8ok5xf8d It's a +1 crossbow that inflicts Bane for 2 turns on hit if the target fails a charisma check. Actually quite useful early on if you have a ranged attacker.
@@jeremygilbert7989wrong bow. Titanstring adds your Strength modifier to the bow’s damage (so if you have 18 Dex and 21 STR from an elixir, its damage is 1d8+(1+5+4)).
Edit: I’m stupid, didn’t realize this comment was talking about Harold. The crossbow is okay but the Banshee Bow is also available in Act 1 and is better (and you could also just dual wield hand crossbows)
