    This is why RUclips is great. P.S. 14mm deep socket was fine for me (original valves) as the spanner on spanner or grips on spanner can be tricky to keep the spanner jaws on the flats.

      Done the exact same with a 14mm deep socket. Shifter was going to turn hex into a circle as valve was very tight. Video was very handy through thanks

      A socket won't remove the cartridge shown in this video.

    Great video. I can't understand why all the other videos for this are about 15 minutes long! Do they stop for tea in the middle? I don't know, because there's no way I'm going to watch them!

    Really important to note he says use a 2mm Allen key, if you use a larger one then it feels like you are doing something but it will jusr turn and turn

    One of the grub screw heads had been stripped. New tap handle £20 and a junior hack saw, good as new.

    Amazing. So easy I done it myself and I am no plumber.

    Is the thread also anticlockwise to undo on the hot tap?

    How do I find out which cartridge is causing the leak, sorry if a dumb question 👍

    • @colinmote846
      @colinmote846 2 года назад +2

      Turn the supply off to one of the inputs, if the leak stops it’s that tap if it doesn’t it’s the other one, simples !

      We now have a removal tool for this tap (especially helpful if you have the old cartridge with no hex nut) tapmagician.co.uk/NSManufacturersShoppingSelect.aspx?MV02=Franke+Ascona

    This method didn’t work for, spanner just kept slipping off. This is a replacement for a previous one of the same model. The valves are rubbish, always end up leaking. The new taps now have hex nuts, so use a socket wrench. My language would have been a lot fruitier if the guidelines allowed.
