    Step by step guide showing you how to remove the handles and change the ceramic disc cartridges /Valves / bushes on the Franke Eiger Kitchen Mixer Chrome Lever Tap. This is easy to do by following our tutorial without the need to call a plumber.
    How do I remove the handle? All you require is a 2mm Allen key.
    How do I know if require the bush? Until you remove the cartridge you won’t know if you need the bush or not as it can come out attached to the cartridge, or remain stuck inside the tap.
    Can I separate the bush from the valve? You can try using hot water followed by cold water to break the seal. You will need a pair of grips.
    If your tap is dripping out of the end of the spout then it’s time to replace the ceramic cartridges. You can buy single hot or cold if you know which one is leaking. You will need to isolate the supply to the hot /cold feeds to determine which one is leaking.

    Plumbing lesson #1.
    Always put the plug in the sink. Saves a lot of grief when the tiny screws fall down the plug hole!

    Cheers buddy great instructions, pretty straight forward, concise and very helpful! The manufacturer sent me the valves free of charge due to the product warranty, though wish I’d checked on RUclips when the first tap had corroded could have saved myself £199 for another tap (yeah this is our second tap:-) Anyhow i think I’ll ask Franke the manufacturers to send me the ‘bushes’ also before I install them just to be on the safe side.

    Thanks for video. Handle didn't want to come off, even with force! Damaged tap as you warned, however still will not come of. Yes I did take screw out with small Allen key. Hay ho.

      Same problem here, tried to protect tap with a bit of old bike inner tube then tried to prise off handle but bent the soft metal. It's fully corroded on.

    My tap leaks water not out of the spout, but from the area of the valve, so the worktop gets wet all around the base of the tap. I had a closer look and the leak is coming from near the circlip on the valve, at the join where the spindle turns inside the outer body of the valve. So, I guess new valve required. What’s the deciding factor as to whether you need a new bush? Is it solely based on whether the cartridge comes out of the bush when you unscrew it, or is it best practice to put a new bush in to benefit from new o-rings etc? I guess it’s one of those belts and braces jobs where whilst you’re in there, best to renew both, so you don’t end up revisiting the job down the line right? Really handy video - much appreciated. Thanks in advance for any advice.

    I bought the washers kit from yourselves and changed them as described but I'm struggling to get the spout back in after changing them. Goes in easily without the small washer, but I can't get it back in with the small washer on. I've tried putting the old small washer back on and it still won't go in. Am i missing something?

    I can’t get the cartridge undone, do I unscrew by turning the spanner upwards or downwards. Thanks

      You will need to unscrew the cartridge anticlockwise from the tap body.

    Are these on both hot and cold or are they just on the right hand side , my tap is dripping but don't know if it's from the hot or cold side ?

    • @tapmagician
      @tapmagician  3 года назад

      Hi, You would need to isolate the supply to the hot and cold to identify which side is leaking. If you do not have isolation valves then you should just replace both of them

    And if you are accident prone, like me, then always put the plug into the sink because as sure as eggs is eggs that grub screw is bound to end up down the plug hole and into the U-bend !
