Bohol, Philippines is known for the chocolate hills, tarsiers, and stunning beaches, but I was not expecting this in Bohol. After spending only one day in Bohol, Philippines, I have realized that it has the full package. This video from Cebu to Bohol, Philippines shows the ferry ride then a quick shuttle to Panglao and Alona beach.

hi Jonathan. when traveling alone anywhere here in the Philippines, especially the tourist spots, you must gear up yourself with lots of knowledge on how to avoid those people trying to take advantage of you being a foreigner in making the fare higher than usual, as much as possible do not entertain those people who come towards you and offering assistance because the reason behind that is for them to get more from you. it is always best to have a Filipino local that you can trust in communicating with them because a lot of them are trying to earn more in a dirty way. just a piece of advice. enjoy your tour.

This is true if you are in or within the city destination. However, if in the province, taxis going out of the city will charge more as they need to compensate the gas they have to use going in back to the city. They will have no passenger when they go back to the city.

While it is true you need to be street wise to get the lowest prices, after a time intravelling i found paying the least is not always the best.
These people are living in pretty low conditions and paying more is like helping them.
Paying a little more to a foreigner is just a little bit to them it is a lot. A difference between going to bed hungry vs full stomach
      or
Being able to pay for a months medicine or suffering without.
Many times I choose to not haggle the cheapest and feel low looking back when I denied a poor person a little more income when it could mean so much more to them that you would never know about.

Stay smart, Jonathan. See how some people seem to be so friendly at first when they're already starting to take advantage of you, especially if you're a foreigner (from a P700 fare to P400? wow). Don't ever be shy to say no. Stay safe and enjoy exploring. 🙂

Just a note for all visiting the Philippines. Always spend a little more on ferry tickets. First class or open air etc.. I was on a ferry from Surigao City to Siargao Island (not as nice as the ferry he was on) and purchased a standard ticket... we found ourselves deep down in the boat. As you probably know, every once in a while a ferry catches on fire -or goes down, so having that easy access to offload if needed might just save your life.

alona beach is my favorite stretch of beach in all the world. it isnt the most high end, it isnt the most scenic, it isnt the prettiest, but it is far and away the NICEST beach ive ever been to. the locals are the best, the business owners are the best, the tourists are the best (a very chill, family-friendly beach, instead of a party beach)... its just super pleasant, and i cant wait to get back there, hopefully early next year.
if you get a chance, take a boat to some of the smaller islands off the coast of alona, there are some virgin beaches that are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING and should not be missed... oh oh oh and dont miss the lady fingers in baclayon, theyre famous for them, if you take an island tour, just tell your driver, he will know where to go...
also, if you make it to CDO, take an extra day to pass through iligan city and get the very best lechon in all the phils (right across the street from timoga/mimar spring resorts), and make the hike to tinago falls. no kidding, you will be struck dumb at the sight of it. nearly brought me to tears. not easy to get to, but... worth the trip. if you go, reply and ill connect you with some people you can trust to take you around...

Hey Peeps, I know your intentions are good but hold your horses. Jonathan is well travelled, smart, respectful, and polite with his dealings. I am a newsubscriber and has viewed several of his videos that is why I have a bit of an opinion of him. He is doing just fine.

Try going to canawa cold spring in candijay, alicia panoramic park, danao adventure park, anda white beach, Tsedi highland and bayview park in mabini, there are a lot to explore here in bohol :) I hope you enjoy your vacation here and don't forget to watch for those people trying to take advantage of you, specially trike drivers.

Yes, Panglao has the best “nightlife” in Bohol. The beach where you were just strolling is called Alona Beach. If you ever go back there, get yourself a massage along the beach. It’s the most soothing, relaxing feeling after having a long day, and not to mention how inexpensive the cost for an hour massage!!! 😁😁😁

I'm so living for videos like this! Seeing the whole process of traveling. Kudos to you! Have you tried using a duffle bag for your travel? I recommend using the Bento Bag from Nomad Lane. I've been using this bag for months now and it is such a hack. It has a trolley sleeve feature and it fits under the seat too! makes your travel more convenient and effortless and it packs like a suitcase too!
