I just returned from the Philippines 🇵🇭 yesterday after a trip to visit my fiancée. We spent time in Cebu and Camotes Island 🏝️. I love it there, such a beautiful country and people! 🥰
The interaction with the locals is what we really like in your vlogs. We can really see your genuine appreciation for the people. Jackfruit = Langka in tagalog, yes we cooked it as a veggie, but I don’t like it haha..😁 Actually Palawan is still part of Luzon. It’s funny when she said Mega sardines, it is a local brand of canned sardines😂❤
The kids are sort of the parking security. They live in the area and they watch the area for strangers, thieves and possible vandals from other islands or towns who may attempt to damage your bike or vehicle.
mybe in your country some people do that.. but here in phillipines mostly in province 95% low crimerate like stoling your bikes or damageng bikes of other..
13:32 She mentioned Mega sardines. Mega is a brand of sardines. Usually in that dish there's garlic, onion, ginger, then the basics unripe chunks of jackfruit and coconut milk. :)
Hey Jonathan! I'm enjoying your vlog, especially when you get distracted during your travels, end up somewhere unexpected, and then just roll with it. You have great laid back energy which goes a long way anywhere in the world. Kudos!
Young unripened Jackfruit (langka) is cooked in coconut milk as a side dish or main dish if meat/fish is added. In the US, it has become popular to vegans as substitute for pulled pork sandwich. Unfortunately, young jackfruit is rarely found in US stores. What's available is the mature fully ripe Jackfruit for eating fresh or used as an ingredient for Filipino dessert such as the halo-halo. Re the chicken feet, it is mostly bones, it is hard to eat it BBQ'd. Try it in Tinola just you know the texture of the meat vs. BBQ. And if Ann prepares it for you, you should vlog it.
Love the unripe jackfruit with coconut milk. Still recovering from my 4th surgery and your videos helped me going though it. Miss El Nido! Was there 2011 and wanna go back. Love ur videos wnd missing Philippines especially with rainy California now :)
Hi Jonathan, it sounds like going out of your way allowed you to see the beautiful Rice fields. The beach area looked really beautiful and the water had a nice Blue hue.
Glad to ser you again jonathan back here in the philippines you are now loved by filipinos bec you are so kind to our locals stay safebin your tour.👍😀😍🇵🇭🙏
Barbeque is a general term for anything grilled and placed on a skewer. If it's banana just add cue at the end and it becomes banana cue. Or for sweet potatoe, it's called camote cue, then pork barbq, or chicken bar b q
Kuya Jonathan, i want to say good job on your excellent work my brother! Most guys go the PI and film the bar girls and talk about their experiences dating, etc. You actually show a proper experience meeting the people and visiting all the beautiful places....even cooking the food and learning the language. I have a feeling you are doing "God's" work and you will be super naturally blessed in health, love AND your finances as well....THE KEY IS TO STAY HUMBLE. As a Filipino living here in Los Angeles, CA for waaaay too long, you make me miss home so much i am now making plans to return as soon as i can.
The Jackfruit that you ate with coconut milk is the not ripe kind . When the Jackfruit is ripe , it has a very nice sweet taste and it has a totally different flavor. When it’s unripe it is used like a vegetable and when it’s ripe it is used as a dessert, sweet and taste totally different and yummy, just like the unripe yummy with the coconut milk 😊👍
Nice episode Jonathan 😊 Isda is more general word for fish here and Sap Sap is a type of fish that we usually eat. Also jackfruit with a cocomilk mix with sardines or any meat or non meat is a good and healthy options in Carinderia in the Philippines 😊
Ginataang langka. Its a mixed of coconut milk, unripe jackfruit(langka),ginger, onion, garlic. You can put either pork (chopped in small pieces), dilis(dried anchovy), dried fish like Danggit.
just discovered your channel, and started to watch ur videos. Sap-sap is a dried fish. Isda for fish in Tagalog or Bisaya. That is unripe jackfruit. Yes, you can open the lid to see what food is inside. The sardines where already incorporated in the dish.
I loved the motorbike helpers. I tipped everyone all the time. For most places it is not expected, but it is always appreciated so much. I really loved the people there, it is Shangri la for this single lonely Canadian.
@@BillGreenAZ Hi Bill, I am back in the Philippines now. 10 pesos is 25 cents Canadian. 10 P is a lot for many people here. My return plane ticket to Canada was $3,000. If I can afford to be here, I can certainly afford helping people out in some small way. Besides, the smiles and goodwill goes a long way and it makes people here appreciate foreigners more. Win:win.
@@free2roam674 that's a great perspective! If someone can afford $3,000 plane fard, that person can certainly afford to give 10 or 25 pesos (25 to 60 cents) to someone who helped us out. Welcome back Jonathan ,very nice video ya man it’s more cheaper outside the beach areas 👍I think Sap Sap for I know is a kind of fish not Isda in visaya
Hi Jonathan! Thank you for your video! I like when you give a little tour. My mom never got to go back to the Philippines since she left. It's my plan to visit, maybe live there for a while in the near future.
Yes, you should lift the cover of the pot to see what’s inside. That jackfruit dish is from raw jackfruit cooked as vegetable with coconut milk. That dish is eaten with rice.
Yes jackfruit is hearty and delicious, when unripe is good in sautéed it with coconut milk, when it is ripe it becomes a fruit and delicious as it is or cooked with brown or white sugar.

Great tip about taking cash when you can..Also, withdraw odd amounts, so instead of 10k , take 9,950 to avoid ending up w 1K bills.
If possible yes!
Good idea bc many places cannot change a 1K bill. I always ended up hoarding my small bills and using the 1K when ever possible. I was so happy one ATM gave me all 500 P bills. That was better. Things you learn as you go. I was there in Feb and I loved it. Just like Jonathan it about the journey and not the destination. I am retiring there soon. Cam
