A lot of people seem to think that in the “Oh, I’m you, just give it time” bit that Cooper is talking about her becoming a ghoul like him. Personally, I think he was talking about her becoming brutal and ruthless like him. Cooper believes that his brutality was an essential part of what kept him alive this long, and I think he believes that if Lucy is going to survive, she’s going to have to become ruthless like him.
Yeah, I don't know why people think that. I guess they miss the entire subtext of the episode - do you need to sacrifice your dignity and ethics to survive? The Ghoul is tyring to 'prove' that to himself, not Lucy.
I think it's more of him needing to believe that what he has become was inevitable and if Lucy, some one who reminds him of how he used to be, succumbs to the wasteland then it isn't *him*, it isn't his fault, it's the world and the wasteland that made him that way.
Turning into a ghoul is something that takes some time usually from getting exposed to radiation. What Roger and Martha were experiencing was a transition that most all ghouls will eventually experience, and that is turning into a feral ghoul (aka zombie) which is what the other three that were released had already turned into. What The Ghoul was saying, "Oh, I'm you, you just give it time," means that if Lucy continues to expose herself to the wasteland's radiation, she might turn into a ghoul.

"Golden rule mfer" is such a great line. "What organizating principle..." cracks me up especially on rewatch. ;) I was going to say no way there will be a Ghoul-Lucy ship. But Mrs. Ghoul... "I'm you just give it some time" and later on someone has a verbal tic where they call ger "Gucy." And Ella Purnell has said she wanted to "destroy" Lucy. Probably not. But, I'd be on board for it. Lucy and the Ghoul wandering the wasteland, righting wrongs and avenging innocents like an episodic western thing. There's an interesting theory video "is the Ghoul being scammed."
The reason ghouls don't have noses is because "soft tissue" tends to rot away. Let's not go into details, but after 200 years, I'm pretty sure The Ghoul won't be shipping anyone, for.....reasons..
Fingers as metaphor. ☺ Lucy absorbs a little of the Wasteland toughness in her finger. Keep an eye out for the fate of Lucy's finger, embodying her optimism and goodness. Also, the idea of wanting Lucy and the Ghoul to hook up is hilarious. 😂 He's a hair-trigger killer who mutilates prisoners, uses innocent people for animal bait in radioactive water and has clearly been selling human slaves to have them killed for their organs. But he's 'cool', so I guess that makes him a good romantic candidate. I will never understand my fellow humans. 😆
I think when you say egocentric about Maximus, you maybe mean he thinks more about himself than others, rather than being full of himself. At the beginning, we see he doesn't have that ego, in fact he doesn't seem to have much confidence at all. As far as being more selfish, he's been living in a world where it's hard to trust people...he's getting beat up daily and accused of crimes over at the Brothehood, knight Titus wanted to have him killed...he really can't trust anyone if he wants to stay alive.
I really don't like the ghoul, can't help it ^^; For the "you end up like me", if she keeps drinking enough radiated water she might become a ghoul? Ghoul are created in Fallout by getting a massive radioactive shower and somehow turning into a ghoul instead of keeling over. Oh and the big guy gets played by the one eyed women like a fiddle XD
