As a lover of the games it was a very solid season, there were some minor nitpicky things that i didnt like and overall i wouldve preferred a more serious gritty action packed epic show following a badass veteran minigun wielding knight(though that would have been more expensive and we may still get that in later seasons or spinoffs) but i still liked what they did and we gamers have been wanting more Vault Tec back story because we do get a pretty good sense of what Vault Tec is since you start in a vault in each game and through exploring the wasteland come across other vaults and see what experiments went on so the story in season one isnt really surprising at all but still very satisfying and well done. The sets were great, the music was great, pleasantly surprised they used as much of the music from the games as they did, the games are usually pretty dark and the music provides a nice unique contrast while you exploring and fighting your way through the wasteland. Best video game adaptation for sure, dethrowning season 1 of The Witcher in my opinion(i know a lot of gamers didnt like that one but i didnt play the games and loved it, yall should watch it). Btw if yall play the games you might want to start with 4, that the newest main installment, Fallout 3 has a better more epic story but the graphics are a little dated, not much, the power armor for example is just like a regular suit of armor you equip from you inventory whereas in f4 they made it the big bulk exo suit you walk into like the show, the gun mechanics and customization are also very improved in F4, but if you can get past that F3s story might be worth it, Liam Neeson voices a key character, and Ron Pearlman narrates. He voices the iconic line from the game intros “war never changes”.

@@j.f.fisher5318 I agree. This is probably what led to the divorce (alimony assumption at birthday party, episode 1). I hope we get to see how this plays out and what happened to Cooper when he fled the party with his daughter on the horse. If they did get divorced, it would make sense it was a Hollywood 'scandal' and somewhat publicized so that at least the upper class knew about it. But it was interesting that Cooper had custody of the daughter (either permanent or temporary/shared) that day specifically IF his wife KNEW the bombs would fall that day. I'm sure she would make it a priority that her and her daughter were in a vault somewhere before that happened.

All the reveals in this finale were CRAZY. Ive never played Fallout, so I had no idea about the lore. However, I loved this show, and the fantastic sets, practical effects and acting by Walton Goggin, Ella Purnell, Max Moten and Moises Arias were all outstanding in this show. The twist that Hank, as well as other Vault dwellers from 2077 like Betty and what's left of Bud Adkins, was responsible for nuking Shady Sands and killing thousands, including his own wife and Maximus's family, honestly blew my mind. Not to mention the fact that Cooper's wife and the entirety of Vault Co. starting the war, which is INSANITY, to begin with, is so incredibly dark and yet sadly extremely true to how I imagine a lot of governments and businesses would use a nuclear fallout to their advantage. It is also even grimmer that you realise all the ideas that the meeting members were suggesting are all tasks that different Vaults are assigned to do in the actual Fallout Games as Vault Dwellers of the game since each Vault is tasked to do some meaningless and unethical experiments that are just a sick game for the Enclave (rich folks at the top). It was really satisfying seeing The Ghoul shoot Henry even if he survived, and Lucy having to kill her own barely alive mother just to stop her suffering as a Ghoul is so tragic, especially when all she wanted to do was to live her own life with Moldaver who actually loved her and give her children a better future. I really hope Maximus uses his power as a knight to do some real good, and I genuinely hope he can reunite with Lucy again because the two of them are too good for this world, and they deserve happiness together, as well as the Ghoul/aka Cooper. One thing I especially loved about this series is how every action in the show has some reaction or consequence at the end of the day, such as how Lucy lets all the Ghouls free, which is apparently very similar gameplay tactics to the original games that do the same thing having players's actions impact them.
    I NEED SEASON 2 NOW!

Although all the games share the overall lore, every game is a different story in the Fallout Universe. I think the fact that Maximus says he joined the Brotherhood to hurt the people who hurt him is going to be very significant moving forward. Maybe he sees that as just Hank, but he knows about the experiments in Vault 4. I think he may start a war against VaultTec. Especially since VaultTec is about ready to open the vaults and VaultTec management and their corporate buddies aren't expecting to have competition from the Brotherhood.

I'd say the only Brotherhood chapter that actually gives a shit about the people and technology equally is the east coast chapter With Elder Lyons.
Most other chapters (like I'm the show) prioritized tech acquisition over all other goals, people be damned if they got in the way or tried to deny them. Kinda like what happened in Filly. I didn't see the locals around when they occupied it.
As Thaddeus said in response to Lucy's question on if they were good... It's complicated and circumstancial. Ultimately gathering, maintaining, and keeping tech out of unworthy/irresponsible hands is their charter essentially.

Guys, let me say - it was a pleasure rewatching the series with you (as always) 🙏
I'm a fan of the franchise (played 1, 2, Tactics, 3 and New Vegas) and I tell you - watching this series, I felt like it's a gem even for those unfamiliar with the games, this was cemented by your reactions.
And for those familiar with them... Well, I'll say this - as someone who has ~800 hours in New Vegas on record, some moments in this season caused some serious goosebumps, others brought me dangerously close to tearing up. Not a complete fan of the NCR, but seeing what happened to a budding nation with all its hopes and noble aspirations was really heavy.
I consider this to be a shining example of fan service done right, as well as a supreme TV show on its own merits. Very happy that the franchise went in the direction it did, maybe we'll get an influx of new people to some of the most thought-through and (if I do say so myself) best games ever made.
I normally keep my emotions well bottled up, but seeing the ending made me actually squeal; if the showrunners keep up this approach in the second season - this is bound to become a classic.
Can't wait to watch it with you 🤗

Something to remember. The creators have gone out of their way to have evidence in multiple games of MULTIPLE possibilities of who started the war. There have been hints at vault tec being involved. The town of megaton in Fallout 3 has an unexploded bomb in it. If you look close there is a vault tec logo on it. In Fallout 4 There is a chinese submarine stuck in boston harbor/bay (not sure the right phrase) that has a Chinese sub commander ghoul who believes he ended the world because he fired his missiles thinking he did a first strike.
Also in 4 the railroad have an A.I. named P.A.M. that pre war it's purpose was to strategize and predict battle outcomes. Much like the W.H.O.P.P.E.R in Wargames. There are terminal entries that seem to point to P.A.M. determining that it needs to fire nukes first and may have been the one to do it. Other games and lore have other evidence of other possibilities.
Heck Aliens exist in The Fallout universe (so do Cthulu like ancient gods who may have also influenced the war) and there is some small evidence that THEY may have started the great war so they could come in and take over after.
Just because Coops wife PROPOSES dropping the bombs....doesn't mean they actually did it.
What is more likely is that they were very politically influential and kept seeding paranoia and fear to sell vaults.
As many have pointed out, you can't make money if the world ends, but you can sell anything if people think it will "any day now".
There are a few Vaults that were never finished that you can explore in the games. If Vault tec knew, then they would have finished all construction.
Sure the show MAY show us at some point in a flashback that VT did indeed drop the first bomb. But I prefer it to stay as vague as possible because 200 years later it doesn't really matter anymore who destroyed the world.

(Unless I made any of that up in my head and connected dots that weren’t claimed aloud, at least. So, all of this is technically **ALLEGEDLY** ).
Ultimately, Vault-Tec or its subsidiaries did “make” it, but before they did, they destroyed society and any judicial body that could ever find them guilty/call them out on that mess. Vault Tec would have reasonably _hoped_ that anyone they had stolen such intellectual properties from, would have also been taken out by The End, and so any failsafe would be internally considered “redundant” by the company.

@17:00 “She didn't take out Lucy's mom, she didn't take out a civilization”.
No. What she did instead was refuse to give her friend (possibly romantic interest) a humane opting-out and a decent burial once Rose started turning into a ghoul. Kept Rose-Ghoul chained to her dinner table for 20 years. Waited patiently until a perfect opportunity presented itself. Collected a group of most foul and heinous criminals, she had at her disposal. Entered Lucy's home under false pretenses and married Lucy off to one of her henchmen. Lucy did not consent to being married to a surface-dwelling raider, ergo their marital consummation was in fact a r*pe. Moldaver got the Lucy - daughter of her dearest friend-possibly romantic partner - R*PED. Also, almost killed by her r*pist. The rest of her friends and family got brutalized and or killed. Norm - Moldaver's dearest friend-possibly romantic partner's other child - only lived because he was hid by the r*ped daughter. Hypocrisy.

As Fallout fan since the first game I'd say that they definitely nailed the tone of Fallout. How it can be brutal, thought-provoking and outright silly.
As the series is supposedly canon it does have some major lore impacts on the series, from Shady Sands being destroyed, the new drug that Coop uses to stop going feral to the real bombshell (pun intended) of how the apocalyse started - it was always left as "no one knew who dropped the first bomb". Even the true purposes of the vaults was always vague in the games.

@2:04 "I don't know what he thought was gonna happen, but..." I suspect Maximus fully expected to die when he returned to the Brotherhood without the real head. He knew what the cost of failure was, and he had to know that they would quickly figure out it wasn't the right head. But I think when they actually put a gun to his head and the reality of his impending execution hit him, his survival instinct reasserted itself and he started bargaining. One of Maximus' biggest character traits through the whole series seems to be that he is an idealist who consistently falls just short of living up to his own ideals, so I think this explanation makes sense.
As for the Elder's complete 180, given the way Maximus always flashes back to his rescuer in the Elder's presence, I suspect that particular Elder was the one who rescued young Maximus from Shady Sands in the first place. If so, then he seems to have been playing the long game with him all along, trying to groom him into the perfect minion. And now, with Maximus humiliated and shamed in front of the rest of the Brotherhood, he would be completely reliant on the Elder's goodwill to keep his position and his head. Well, at least until the end, where Maximus seemingly redeems himself and earns the respect and acclaim of the rest for "killing" Moldaver.

This is why people love Fallout. There's never a clear cut good guy. The NCR, the Brotherhood, Caeser's Legion, and other factions all have the skeletons in their closet. No one is ever decidedly good or evil. It's all in shades of gray. And as a player, that's the world you're thrown into, to make decisions. Every faction has its downside, that part you wish it would fix. And the only thing you can do is make what seems like the least bad choice.

Because she did it for "better" reasons, or her possible "relationship" with lucy's mom. That doesn't negate the fact that she was the leader of another murderous faction literally killing innocent people whose only sin was being born to the wrong people. Not to mention she kept Lucy's mom alive the entire time, which some might think "oh she loves her so much". Nope I see it as she kept her alive to SPITE Hank McClean. "was" run by the Mr. House, the guy with the mustache that represented (well, he also founded it) RobCo in the latest Ghoul's flashback. And I guess from the name you can guess that this New vegas was once Las Vegas, but in Fallout (at least in the game) it was represented by the poor district and the remain of the Vegas Strip, which is gates from poor wastelanders to enter. The Strip itself has couple of casinos, the Vault which was won by Mr. House from it's inhabitants and later turned into a Hotel. THe Strip also has it's own power source, so even before events of this series, the Strip had electricity and cean water.

This series is a masterclass on how to translate a gaming world into a show which is both entertaining to people who never played the game *and* remains faithful enough to the source material to please even its biggest fans.
My theory on where the Norm storyline will go....way back in episode 1, when Hank was making his speech at Lucy's "wedding" reception, he said that their projections showed that the next generation of children (Lucy's) would be able to return to the surface. I don't think that was just a throw-away line. I think that Hank (and Bud's brain on a roomba) felt that the newest generation of MacLeans represented the first "super managers" to emerge from their plan. Hank believes that super manager is Lucy, but I'm thinking that from a Vault-Tec point of view it's actually Norm. And that we're going to end up with a raging case of sibling rivalry before the series ends.
Looking forward to seeing how wrong I am. 😂

Do you remember an episode where Lucy and Maximus see Schady Sand for the first time and Lucy asks Maximus what happened, and Maximus said that whatever happens, everyone wanted to save the world, but they couldn't agree on how, that's just how humanity is, and that won't change even after 1000 years

Since Fallout is a Bethesda Studios title which created the Elder Scrolls series (Morrowind Oblivion Skyrim) there are a lot of similarities between Vaults as they are presented ingame and general dungeon crawling RPG mechanics. Most games have you start in a vault that has some kind of mismanagement or crisis going on that forces you out into the wasteland. But you will also stumble across vaults and each one will essentially be this murder mystery dungeon where you have to explore the entire vault, trying to figure out what the experiment was, and gain access to the admin area etc. and eventually receive a quest reward of some kind. Usually just valuable loot, and XP or even special companions can end up joining your journey whenever you decide to unseal a vault.

    25:44 That's New Vegas, baby!
New Vegas is the setting of arguably the best Fallout game in the series, Fallout: New Vegas.
The bomb that took out Shady Sands dropped shortly after the events of the game FO:NV, the events of show takes place after all of the games.

I really liked this show. I’ve never played the games and I was hooked from the beginning. The soundtrack was great, the characters, the story, everything beyond the expectations for me. They did an amazing job engaging people who didn’t know the game.

It was a good choice for them to expose the true purpose of the vaults in the first season, knowledge of it from the games would inevitably leak as a spoiler so it was a good idea to get it out of the way early. And I like that they didn't really change the lore of it either, they just filled in some blanks that were missing in the lore from the games in a way that I feel perfectly comfortable accepting as canon.

Great reaction as always, at 25:43 , that is New Vegas, which is where one of the games took place. So its a cool little easter egg for fans and makes me wonder what Hank is going to do there.

Okay, I know everyone likes to harp on Maximus for his awful thought processes, but honestly this time I truly feel like his logic was sound, even if the execution was still terrible. If he showed up empty-handed, he'd get killed immediately without getting close to Elder Cleric Quintus. If he brought the real head, sure, maybe he'd be forgiven, but there's no chance the Brotherhood would've been willing to save Lucy once they got their target. By switching the heads but knowing the location of the real one, it was the only way he could both live through his betrayal AND make good on his promise to Lucy.

New Vegas appearing right at the end was pretty cool. Looking forward to Season 2!

Pudge I love the Katara look you have going on. The blue and the braids remind me so much of her💙 This finale reaction was so good. I can’t wait for next season :)

Walton Goggins killed it as both the Ghoul and Coop, two very different characters while being the same person. Also, I can't wait for New Vegas and Mr. House, the leader of Rob-Co as seen at the meeting this episode.

Watching the Ghoul fight the Brotherhood, reminds me that in his first fight with Maximus the Ghoul could have killed him easily.

The show's story is not only based on the games. It's a continuation of the overall timeline. So bascially Fallout 5 taking place only a few years after the events of Fallout 4.

The ‘new town’ at the end is New Vegas. You saw ‘Mr House’ in the meeting. The main plot of Fallout New Vegas is getting there and finding him. It can go a few different ways so it will be interesting to see what ending the show canonises, if any.
