Most bands were doing Black Hole Sun as it's an easy song to sing with little range. Only singers with true chops can attempt a song like this! He did this brilliantly!
Geoff and Chris both trained extensively with Maestro David Kyle, not surprising Todd would seek out the same techniques. Anyone else catch that he didn't reach for the highest note in the final chorus? Very well done. RIP Chris.
Quickly thrown together and yet they fucking nailed the spirit of this song 100%. Brilliant job by Queensryche. Beautiful speech, and gut wrenching pain in his singing. A+. "No one sings like you anymore." -Chris Cornell
Jeppoyy G Different singer. Silent Lucidity was Geoff Tate. If you want examples of his range, check out "Speak" or "Queen of the Reich". I don't even know the new singer's name. He seems more versatile than Geoff, and probably can easily rock the high notes of Queen of the Reich. Chris had an equally impressive range. I'm not sure I've ever searched for his highest note before. Jesus Chris Pose comes to mind as a possibility.
Jeppoyy G and I think people use Silent Lucidity as an example of Geoff's low end. He doesn't go very high in that song. I like "Speak" because you can hear both high and low in that one. Queen of the Reich is just high, the highest, when he was young, and before smoking had screwed him up somewhat. But again, Geoff isn't in this video. Maybe I'll research this new guy sometime.
I have been viewing all the wonderful and thoughtful tributes to Chris from all different artists and bands. This Queensryche rendition of Say Hello To Heaven is absolutely the best one thus far. Todd's voice is amazing already and then to sing this song blew my mind. Goosebumps just listening to the raw passion and commitment to sing the song just like Chris would... Queensryche you did a splendid tribute to Chris. Chris - Rest In Peace...We will miss you and your wonderful persona and incredible singing voice.
Each day I see at least 20 new tributes from such a huge range of artists across the planet, and it's almost like losing a little piece of Chris all over again yet healing at the same time. It's very bittersweet to be reminded of the tragedy of what happened to him and also be warmed by the knowledge that he had such a profound impact on so many people and is being sung to sleep in heaven by his own genius creations all over the globe. RIP, you beautiful legend.
The best tribute so far, they did a great job.. sounds almost like Chris... R.I.P. Chris Cornell, may you find peace... your music will live on.. we will never forget the music you brought to us.. and the effect you have had on the world.. We will miss you... Prayers for his family, friends and fans.. Thank you for sharing this Todd. God bless...
Damn...that's the first time I've shed a tear since the news about Chris Cornell passed, but to hear Queensryche cover "Say Hello To Heaven" so passionately just tore me up. Great video, man. Thanks for sharing it. Thanks to Queensryche for doing it so much justice.
It fucking kills me that this song was written as a goodbye to Andrew Wood, Chris Cornell's friend, and now we're singing it as a goodbye to Chris himself.
He did a great job with the cover. One of the better tributes i've seen since his passing. RIP Cornell, and to his fans, lets keep his memory alive for generations to come!
This isn't a complaint, I completely understand but man I wish there was a higher quality audio recording of this because it sounds like they really nailed it.
Take your hand out the way of the fucking microphone on your phone, dude. Thanks, though. This is very touching. I grew up on Soundgarden. Grieving hard over this shit. You're a blessing.
Thank you for honoring Chris. Great job! Wow... 3 hours to learn this. You really did well and thanks for the humble introduction. I could tell you loved Chris as SO many do.
Big props to you for this moment! This has hit home for me, as Chris Cornell with Soundgarden and whatever project he does, has been a part of the soundtrack of my life, and my musical vocabulary. You may be gone, but your music will live on.
blessed that though our one and only connection may be our attorney, Neil, i feel very connected to you in this performance, AMAZING gift to give him and the world... i hope our paths somehow intersect sooner than later. never lose hope, keep it alive as you are.
Omg .. Wow .what an AWESOME tribute .. Still cant BELIEVE Chris is gone .. Such a huge loss of a Beautiful soul ..may u rest in peace wherever you are Chris
Temple of the Dog is such an underrated album. Born out of sadness, it delivered so much healing, and so much great music. Still on rotation for me. As is Apple...
One of the most underrated singers ever and im not talking about Cornell...this dude is amazing to be able to pull off Geoff Tate every night and then Chris Cornell on short notice like its just a brisk walk in the park...
Jesse Nunley yes I love Tate cant imagine queensryche without him. Geoff has kick ass vocals as well. Very different. but video brought tears awsome job.
Beautifully done. QUEENSRYCHE is a class act and I would expect them to do this. paying respect to CC and his family and band mates. I pray that Chris knew Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. Thank you Queensryche!
Thank you, Todd, for not doing Black Hole Sun... and for choosing such an epic song as this!
rocknrollboise Agreed.
Most bands were doing Black Hole Sun as it's an easy song to sing with little range. Only singers with true chops can attempt a song like this! He did this brilliantly!
focusing on vocal range for a farewell tribute.. really? let's appreciate the gesture, and chris's songs were all tough, for standards at least
rocknrollboise Most tributes I've seen so far have not been Black Hole Sun lol I've seen I am The Highway, Outshined, Like a Stone, Hunger Strike....
Black Hole Sun is a great song so stop hating
Great tribute! Awesome voice...anybody that can sing close to Chris Cornell is impressive.
Dallas Pain and Injury Absolutely!
yeah I am impressed how similar his vocals are to CC
and this guy is several years passed his prime.
Geoff and Chris both trained extensively with Maestro David Kyle, not surprising Todd would seek out the same techniques. Anyone else catch that he didn't reach for the highest note in the final chorus?
Very well done. RIP Chris.
Still tough to swallow...there's not one bad song Chris ever wrote no matter who he was fronting. Gonna miss that dude!
Jeff Fry his Scream album was actually terrible. But everything else was great
Colby Perry guess I never heard that one, I stand corrected. There was a time in my life where I spent a while in the desert eating peyote.
Jeff Fry definitely not some music you would want to eat peyote to, it's like if Chris tried to make some one republic/maroon 5 poppy shit
Colby Perry
The songs were good, just the
production sucks. There's some
"Band" versions of some of those
songs on youtube.
I still respect Chris for making the album even if it wasn't for everyone. It showed that the man did not let genres limit him.
Quickly thrown together and yet they fucking nailed the spirit of this song 100%. Brilliant job by Queensryche. Beautiful speech, and gut wrenching pain in his singing. A+. "No one sings like you anymore." -Chris Cornell
very respectable cover... Good pipes on him. Nice tribute. edited to thank the uploader for sharing this.. RIP Chris
Yeah, he sang extremely well. What a nice speech and what a wonderful tribute.
I never really gave this new singer a chance. Totally impressed. Doing Chris Cornell justice is not something many people can do.
They blow.. barely a professionals... this band is crap
nice troll
Dude..... silent lucidity?? :)
Most tributes I saw are really struggling to reach Chris' notes... dammnnn such an amazing talent!

It fucking kills me that this song was written as a goodbye to Andrew Wood, Chris Cornell's friend, and now we're singing it as a goodbye to Chris himself.
Thanks for uploading Todd's complete speech, man. So touching. One of the best tributes from all of them so far.
living colours was GREAt as was the band LIVE
and myles kennedy because chris had 4 octaves myles did a great job he sang blackbird but this guy is really good
the worst megadeth BUT all their hearts are in the right place for sure!!
Agree, Live and LC's were awesome too
All were the very same great moments of music history. Topped by Pretty Reckless moving performance, in my humble opinion.
Only metal singers can hit those notes! Kudos Boys! Do that song justice!
The speech alone was so perfect. But to lay that great cover behind it.. Man you guys totally brought it.
Sorry to hear about your dad.
By far, the best tribute to The Great Chris Cornell ..You guys nailed it!
one of the best tributes I´ve heard,not seen,heard.Musicality.Great voice,it is true.Thanks
Thanks Todd & Queensryche! A superb tribute to a legend lost far too soon... RIP Chris...
so hard listening to the song that Chris wrote for Andrew Wood is the song being sung for him.
ANDREA HICKS Freebird dedicated to Duane Allman and is now a tribute to the singer-songwriter Ronnie Van Zant of Lynyrd Skynyrd
I thought the same thing. Now were singing it for Chris. 😢😢
The best tribute ive seen yet!!! You gotta have pipes to belt this out.
This heartfelt speech of Todd truly touches my heart. Man was he emotional during his talk.....Seattle-music family love!
Wow! Nice!!!! Best tribute for Sweet Chris yet!!!! Great job!! RIP Chris! Heaven must be having one hell of a show!!!!
He did a great job with the cover. One of the better tributes i've seen since his passing. RIP Cornell, and to his fans, lets keep his memory alive for generations to come!
Rock in peace Christopher... God damn legend.......
What a great choice for a tribute ! Great vocal cover.
There will never be another Chris Cornell.
This isn't a complaint, I completely understand but man I wish there was a higher quality audio recording of this because it sounds like they really nailed it.

Whoa 😮a Cornell tribute from a band of solid fucking pros!!!!! 5 stars chaps, nailed it RIP
we were there, front row left. met Todd and his mom after the show at Beau Rivage next door, such a nice guy. glad we were part of this special show.
Damn, he nailed it. Amazing cover!
Great tribute, guys. Queensryche greatest hits should be on every rock fans' playlists.
Super tasteful and well done.
Had the privilege of witnessing the full prime Cornell (pause)several times. RIP to 🙏🏽a GOAT.
THANK YOU... we miss you Chris
seems like they did a great job. its a shame the audio quality is so bad on this recording
Big props to you for this moment! This has hit home for me, as Chris Cornell with Soundgarden and whatever project he does, has been a part of the soundtrack of my life, and my musical vocabulary. You may be gone, but your music will live on.
i think this might be my favorite tribute so far. RIP
great upload! RIP
no one can reach the tone of Chris, Every day it becomes clear that we lost one of the best vocalists. :(
blessed that though our one and only connection may be our attorney, Neil, i feel very connected to you in this performance, AMAZING gift to give him and the world... i hope our paths somehow intersect sooner than later. never lose hope, keep it alive as you are.
Awesome job chris would be proud.
this WAS the song for his departure!!!! many thanks!!!!!!
Amazing...guess I’ll be pouring to Chris again. Awesome voice and band...thank you!
Too bad the sound cuts out, but good to hear the tribute. Thanks for posting.
There is too much bass in the mix which is a common problem for major acts, even older acts such as the Rolling Stones.
I don't think so....after all, this isn't taken from the board.
Looks like the poster is right in front of the bassist's stage rig.
thanks for the upload. RIP chris
Nice tribute from another amazing performer! R.I.P Chris
I can't believe how many bands have paid tribute to chris. I don't think that I have ever seen as many for anyone else. It's really awesome.
Only band in the world that could touch this song and do it justice. Only band in the world with a voice comparable too.
Awesome tribute, great speech and very heart felt.
Omg .. Wow .what an AWESOME tribute .. Still cant BELIEVE Chris is gone .. Such a huge loss of a Beautiful soul ..may u rest in peace wherever you are Chris

Thanks for the upload.. Great tribute to a great singer/song writer..
Temple of the Dog is such an underrated album. Born out of sadness, it delivered so much healing, and so much great music. Still on rotation for me. As is Apple...

Thank you for uploading this video. Great job QUEENSRYCHE!!
Thanks for doing something other than 'Black Hole Sun.' Brilliant song, but there's so much more to Chris Cornell than just that one song.

One of the most underrated singers ever and im not talking about Cornell...this dude is amazing to be able to pull off Geoff Tate every night and then Chris Cornell on short notice like its just a brisk walk in the park...

For 1 second i thought listened to Chris...
Amazing tribute!
Chris wrote this for Andrew wood..someone needs to write Chris a song now
A lot of respect for playing Temple of the Dog, and their most intense song at that.
Beautifully done. QUEENSRYCHE is a class act and I would expect them to do this. paying respect to CC and his family and band mates. I pray that Chris knew Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. Thank you Queensryche!
Thank you Queensryche! Did a great job!

what a touching speech
perfectly done! Todd kills it every time. lungs for days absolutely beautiful!
Beautiful :'(

People seem more concerned about videoing the show than actually listening and taking in the experience.
Most fitting song to sing for Chris - He'll be saying hello to heaven. Demon-free.
Great tribute song!
great job
