Is there new Adelaide metro trains coming? If so what’s the new look like?

There will be, 12 more sets of 4000 class were ordered. There aren’t any official design changes in the order, but they’re likely to be slightly different. Especially the cab, I do believe these new ones will share the same redesigned can as the latest Vlocity regional trains

@@AussieWirraway could we see new electric trains later on down track become driverless and Also, what can we expect to see replace the diesel line trains. What’s your thoughts on that?

@@sgtransportfan2925 Adelaide’s current lines will never be driverless, driverless systems have to have zero level Xings on their routes, something we will never be able to have here. For the remaining lines the next component is electrification of the Outer Harbour line, which the current government has essentially admitted they’ll do after GREP. Belair is harder and will likely stay diesel till 2030

@@AussieWirraway, Adelaide's suburban train network currently has lots of railway crossings which interfere pedestrian, bicycle and road traffic. Railway crossings greatly limit the capacity and frequency of Adelaide's train network. If trains in Adelaide operate at a regular frequency of 5 - 10 minutes, then the busy railway crossings will cause traffic congestion on Adelaide's road network. Frequent trains with busy railway crossings will cause gridlock of Adelaide's road network. You're absolutely correct that we can't have driverless trains in Adelaide due to a numerous amount of at grade level railway crossings. Sydney Metro from Tallawong to Chatswood (36 km long) in Sydney is a standalone metro system (1500 V DC electrical overhead wires) which has driverless trains operating without train drivers. It's nice that you have mentioned the electrification of the Outer Harbor line. I would like to see the electrification of the Outer Harbor train line.
See the Long Term Public Transport Plan (30 - 50 years from 2020) link below I have proposed for Adelaide.
      www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1TmHE4P5h4IZIEyM2mrmrConOV3iyQTWp&usp=sharing
Please have a good look of the Long Term Public Transport Plan for Adelaide (30 - 50 years) (link above). This is the type of public transport system we need in Adelaide including removing excess train stations to speed up an all stations train service, a redesigned bus network (To a frequent all day grid) and a metro system (From Salisbury to Oaklands). Currently, an all stations train service on Adelaide's entire suburban train network can't simply get up to high speeds of 90 - 100 km/h due to the close spacing of the train stations of 700 m - 1.5 km. Since Adelaide is so spread out, its better to have train stations with a spacing of 2 - 6 km to increase the average speed of an all stations train from 32 - 40 km/h to 50 - 65 km/h.
A person can only walk 200 - 800 m to a bus stop, tram stop, busway station (like the O'bahn) or a train station. It's too far for a person to walk 1 km - 4 km just to reach to a fast train or any fast public transport system. Cycling increases the coverage of faster public transport systems from 200 - 800 m to 1 km - 4 km. The first and last kilometre problem of faster train services can be solved with large secure bicycle cages at major train stations with adequate cycling infrastructure on major roads and streets. A combination with a bicycle to fast trains or any other mode should never be ignored. Multi modal public transport is the future of Adelaide, not the one seat hub and spoke from our current obsolete bus network.
In addition to the above Long Term Public Transport Plan (30 - 50 years from 2020) for Adelaide, please have a look at the links below.

@@michaeleverett1479 Wow, I really cannot stress enough how cool and reasonable these maps are. Genuinely very good ideas all round. I only have small problems with it like your location of the metro depot is probably one of the worst places you could put such in thing in Adelaide due to the incredibly steep terrain.
The Bicycle and and underground train link are very good ideas, that really we should be doing already. Station removals are good ideas, so is the link between trains and trams at Goodwood. The Metro I'm a little less sure about (O-Bahn needs replacing though), as the population density required for that would be huge, and something we'll probably never have. Although TBH your bus network map leaves me personally with a far worse service then I receive under the current network. I am surprised you didn't include a Mount Barker rail service, they usually feature on these kinds of maps.
If you wouldn't find I'd love to share these maps with other transport focused people and also do a video on them - with your permission and all credit to you of course.
