I've been using most of these same combinations all month and I can attest to the success. This really is an epic terrestrial summer!

Hopper dropper has been very productive on the Euro rig for me the past 3-4 weeks. Most takes on the dropper, bun man is it fun watching that head come up and slurp the hopper!

In CO but I’ve found a lot more productivity on smaller hoppers 10-12 paired with smaller droppers 16-20 jig nymphs. Probably due to pressure just interesting to adjust tactics to now more pressured streams these days. Pink micro chubby with a cdc micro May has been good 👍

I use a stimulator x hopper pattern I tie in a size 14 and I can run a 2.5mm bead under it. But you can only ever fish 1 well, either the dry fishes well or the nymph fishes well

I’m in CO too and agree with you. Love the smaller chubbies, but the trout see them a lot and so I go to the Fat Albert and get more takes sometimes. I like to add something like a mercury midge or mayfly nymph below the beadhead.

Can someone post a link for the video Curtis mentioned with the Euro Rig and popping the hopper on the surface. I know the video he is speaking of but cannot find it...

Curtis, regarding the rigging for hopper dropper, say you have 3x to the hopper, have you found it effective to attach another section of say 4 x to the hopper before adding the final longer section pf 5x or 6x to the dropper? I was thinking that this may help turnover everything and minimize a hinge point on the forward cast. Also, I heard a famous guide recommend the more smaller/traditional hopper patterns (i.e. Dave's Hopper, Parachute hopper ) on sunny days and larger foam patterns on cloudy days. Have you experienced the same sz & pattern preferences on sunny vs cloudy days? Thanks in advance for your feedback.
