    Looks like a great setup. I'm still rocking the SR6 this year for elk in Colorado and whitetails in GA. I also built a custom Realm X riser with SR6 cams that is a dream to shoot, but 13 fps slower than my SR6. I'm sure that bow will end up in the woods with me at some point as well, but the SR6 gets the nod for elk.

    Thank you so much for running through your entire setup! I am 5' 4" and 120 getting ready for my first elk hunt next week and deer hunt in October and there is hardly any women talking about their bow hunting setups. In fact most info I have gotten has been talking with reps at the bow booths who tell me how they setup bows for their wives (which I love and totally appreciate) but I wonder about things and it would be great to hear directly from other women about what there experience has been hunting and shooting lower draw weight and shorter draw length. I also just bought the Axcel Landslide 3 pin site for my Elite Era, Tight Spot quiver, Victory RIP XV 500 spine, AAE Hybrids in 4 fletch with 100 grain IronWill broad heads coming in at just under 320 grains. I chose all the components. Its awesome to me to get to watch your videos about hunting and I can't wait for more. Oh.........and I love the target videos too :)

      It sounds like you have a rocking set up! It should work great! 😊 And yes I know what you mean about trying to find that type archery video for women! Thanks for being here :)

    Very nice set up! I prefer a 35+" ATA bow myself. Good luck to you this upcoming season!

      Yeah I shot the SS34 last year and that has been my favorite hunting bow to date! I loveddd it! This one at 33 feels okay to me too! If I go shorter then 33 I don’t like my anchor and face contact at all!

    Thanks for the peep tip. I have the same eye issues which have forced me to a single pin setup. I still have some double vision with a 1/4” peep so I’ll give the 1/8 a try.

    • @PaigePearceinsight
      @PaigePearceinsight  5 месяцев назад +1

      Try a 3/16 or a 5/32 aperture. Those are in between the 1/4 and the 1/8 and you might be able to get one of those to work without losing so much light with the 1/8! I would say the 1/8 is a last resort and I would try the other two first! ☺️

      I hunt with 60 lbs and my draw length is 27.5. For tournaments I shoot more like 55 lbs since it’s so many more arrows.

    Hey!! Same arrow and system for me. 350 spine.
    200 grains up front, Iron Will fixed blade, Q2i vanes, Pin nock bushing, Beiter nocks = Moose Arrow.
    My deer arrow is much lighter and faster

    You don't have to run any of the compensation with a Prime! Option is the hands down best sight.

  • @timbow50

    Proof positive folks you don’t NEED a 500 grain hunting arrow. Her trophies are from all over the planet including huge super tough African animals. We need your unbiased opinion of the Beast head later this year. I really hope for your sake these don’t fail you. Personally, after hunting for over 50+ years with fixed heads only I can’t put much faith in a mechanical. No reason to. 👍👍

    • @PaigePearceinsight
      @PaigePearceinsight  5 месяцев назад +4

      Thank you! Yeah I killed sable and kudu and eland and all of that with a 340 grain arrow in the past. I shot clear through an elk at 70 with a 319 grain arrow. Shot placement really is everything! But the 390 does penetrate better than those after testing which is why I’m using that. And I will absolutely give you guys some honest reviews! I’m hoping they are good too! I have shot fixed blades a lot of my life and have no complaints! But I’ve used different expandables the last few years and had good luck too! I’m always game to test something! Thank you again!

      Our ancestors used wooden sticks with knapped stone heads. Today's entire industry is simply about pretending to reinvent the wheel......for profit. And they are fueled by all the suckers who fall for it and happily hand over their $$$ for massively over-priced products.

  • @PennNative

    Paige,
    Can you explain a little about the anchor point from a shorter bow compared to a longer bow. I guess i never thought of that. I always feel more comfortable with a bow thats longer to but never related it to my anchor. But I’m not quite understanding the reason though??
    Thank you!

    • @PaigePearceinsight
      @PaigePearceinsight  5 месяцев назад

      Yeah of course! So with a short ATA, the string angle is a lot sharper. I am used to having an anchor point with my hand in a certain spot on my face and the string at the end of my nose. When the string angle gets really sharp, then at that same anchor on my face the string isn’t near my nose like on my target bow, it’s out in front of my nose. So I tend to actually lengthen my draw length on my hunting bow so I can have the same face contact with the string on my nose that I am used to. Thats personal preference obviously.. but it feels worse to me with my hand in the same spot and my head floating not touching the string than lengthening it just a bit and being able to have my nose touch the string. The shorter the ATA and the sharper the string angle the more I would have lengthen it to be comfortable. I also shoot a pretty short d loop on my hunting bow most of the time compared to target so my overall DL isn’t like way longer or anything crazy, just the bow itself. Hopefully that makes sense! It’s so much easier to show it than explain!

    • @PennNative
      @PennNative 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@PaigePearceinsightYeah it does. Thank you very much! My short hunting bow feels kinda long. I’m going to try and shorten the d loop. I have been noticing my shots going right. I would assume that’s because I’m stretched out and my draw arm elbow is swinging to far behind as I’m pulling through my shot.

    • @PaigePearceinsight
      @PaigePearceinsight  День назад

      @@PennNativeit could be. Sometimes if you are a right handed archer big right arrows can be from collapsing? So keep that in mind. Also could be centering your housing in your peep different. There’s so many things that can cause the same issue with archery it’s pretty wild actually!

    Awesome rundown. Loved the details and explanation. Instant subscriber.
    Couple of questions:
    Accustat 2 scope, 5-pin correct? Pin size?
    You mention some of your stats but so we better understand you better overall what’s the basics? Draw length? And poundage?
    What velocity are you getting out of those arrows?
    Rangefinder?
    Thanks for the information, putting it all together myself.

    • @PaigePearceinsight
      @PaigePearceinsight  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you!! So the accustat head I use actually has 6 pins! I order a 7 then pull a pin because at my bow speed I can’t fit 7, but I can fit 6. I swear the deer are always standing between 60-70 so I really wanted a 70 pin so I didn’t have to go to the slider till after 70.
      I’m shooting 60 lbs and my DL is 27.5 inches. I haven’t shot it through the chrono yet but I know it’s a little faster than my SS34 and it was 275. I had to bump my pins a little closer on this bow so that’s how I knew that right off the bat. Rangefinder I jump between the sig kilo 5k and an old leupold full draw. For target I use the bushnell broadhead because it’s more accurate for that stuff but I do not like it for hunting. Thanks for following along! I really appreciate it!

      @@PaigePearceinsight Awesome, thanks for the reply. I value your experience and gear selection. I’m using a AVX-41 MM Ranger Pin 0.10 green/red myself, and I’m considering the 31 MM tube for better fletching clearance at greater distances for 3D events, same colors and same pin size. I never thought of using a seven pin scope and taking a pin out. Great pro insight there.

    Is it hard to shoot a hinge when you’re in a tree stand?

    • @PaigePearceinsight
      @PaigePearceinsight  День назад

      No I don’t think so. I bend at the waist so my upper body is still in proper form. I do shoot sitting way more than I ever stand. Shooting field tournaments like I have my whole life you learn to bend at the waist properly before you draw. But it’s not like where you see people draw level then bend, that’s the rookie way to do it 😜 But it changes your whole draw length and form if you just bend your front arm down in a tree stand and don’t move your whole upper body, so I shoot it just like I would a tournament shot. Minimal movement and allows my form to stay the same which makes shot execution the same :)

    Do you not compete internationally anymore e.g. World Cup or are you strictly a hunter now?

    • @PaigePearceinsight
      @PaigePearceinsight  День назад

      I’m competing more than ever before, I’m just not really shooting the world cups. There’s not really any money in it, so when you do it as a job it takes the most time and least return. I dropped the 4 world cups and added the 6 ASA’s instead. And then I shoot every NFAA, and USA Archery event too. Then I also do the indoor world cups with world archery. And world field with world archery. So I shoot 3 full circuits each year plus indoor world cups plus the random events like Iowa and Lancaster. So yeah I have an insanely busy tournament schedule still. Just doing what makes the most sense to earn a living 😊

    being from a country where hunting and bowhunting is hard to get into, i haven't the justification for spending the money on image stabilization in my cheap shit bino's. however, just to get used to the unstable and crap image i do a bunch of burpees or some shit. i think maybe i'll get the cool binos from SIG though.

    Bought a new SS34 expecting superior tun-ability do to Bowtec innovations. I now have a bow that will not paper tune and my bare shaft hits the target at 10 yards at close to a 45 degree angle. Not happy!
