  • The RockShox Pike has long been the bench mark that all Trail/Enduro forks are compared to. But now the Pike has been given a face lift and Neil has been riding it to see what has changed.

    I just bought the new pike RCT3 about two weeks ago & so far it has been one hell of a fork. With three stages of adjustment, fine tuning & paired up with a monarch xx rear shock makes this fork & my bike a blast to ride. Their not cheap but I found mine on ebay new for under $700 bucks that came off a showroom floor bike.

    I'm 6'5 340 lbs and I ride the rct3 pike on a 3000w ebike. Just took it to my favorite pump track and my god its a big difference from my fox 34s. Way better all around.

      james kaye any particular cons you have with it? I'm looking to buy either the trance advanced or a stump jumper fsr

    • @OriginalAirsoftGasser
      @OriginalAirsoftGasser 7 лет назад +2

      It's the rear shock tune on the Trance, it's totally off and aparrently something that has been happening with the Trance since the 27.5 Trance was released. Look at the Canyon Spectral or YT Jeffsy you will get much better spec on those bikes than you will on a Trance or a Stumpjumper, I only bought mine because it was cheap.

    • @TallPaulswall
      @TallPaulswall 7 лет назад +1

      james kaye I've got the trance 1 and I tried a lot of other well known bike on trails and kept going bake to my trance1 it is the dearest trance before you get to carbon frames but I got mine beginning of 2016 and it's got sram XO full mech and chain and it's never missed a beat..always try as many bikes as poss before buying £3500 Is a lot of cash to spend on a bike....hope you find what you want..

    • @OriginalAirsoftGasser
      @OriginalAirsoftGasser 7 лет назад

      I bet you are running the compression on the rear shock in the stiffest setting though. The Trance is a great bike for anyone that lives in an area with smooth trails or rides like a grandad, the rear suspension is tuned to provide comfort over control and ability and that's a major issue for someone that is a fast rider.

    This "1080p" quality looks like 360p when filming moving rider, picture become blured and unclear. Please fix that if possible.

    • @404nobrakes
      @404nobrakes 7 лет назад +11

      donmlaaden It's because of RUclips compression.

    • @lukeshelmire2894

      donmlaaden No you are wrong. It's because they are so damn fast.

    • @TrailRiderMTB
      @TrailRiderMTB 7 лет назад +4

      donmlaaden you'll notice it a lot on POV videos, that their is a lot of compression from youtube. Also if the moving shots are in low light the image will blur because of the drop in frame rate so only well lit situations will help.

    • @motomehanicar459
      @motomehanicar459 7 лет назад +2

      Read comment well and try to understand what someone tried to say before commenting.
      It is not up to my internet speed or connection because I am on my PC and internet speed is 50mbps what is more than enough for watching videos in HD. It is that motion blur made by the camera when they film rider riding a bike for example, but when he stops for commenting for example the picture sharpens immediately. Just pause at 5:17 and you will see. Hope I was clear now to you.

    It's the Giant Trance 2, I have the same bike, not the same suspension set up that came on the bike.Mine came with a FOX Rhythm which is not great. I have a the Rockshox Pike on my Enduro 29er and the fork it super nice and plush and adjustable.Love it.The Giant he's riding with that set up is on point, I'd like to get there some day with mine.Anyone looking to get a Trance get it. it's the best bang for your buck bike on the market, chuck the stock wheelset and your on a great bike.

    I dunno, I have had almost every brand of fork and not a huge fan of this fork. Wife asked me what I wanted for Christmas, I told her a Mattoc fork to replace the Pike on my YT Jeffsy. Surprisingly, my Suntour Auron on my Process 111 is about my favorite!

  • @FPVSuperPersuit
    @FPVSuperPersuit 7 лет назад

    Nice to see you guys using a Giant bike....... most MTB riders would have one of these as they are the most accessible brand on the market. MOST bicycle shops in OZ are Giant specialists. It makes your videos easier to relate to, and it shows that is more about the fitness and skill of the rider than it is about the brand name. Seriously, how many people could afford to sell out $11000 AUS for a Santa Cruz?

    I would be interested in your opinion on those maxxis 2.8 tires. by December I will be purchasing a new mountain bike and I am torn between the Pivot Mach 5.5 which has 2.6 tires and the Pivot Switchblade which has 2.8 plus maxxis tires. The Mach 5.5 has the more travel but the Switchblade has Boost 157 in the rear. I just started mountain biking 6 months ago and love it and my current ride is a Trek X Caliber 9, and I am looking to develop my skills and become a better rider so I want a bike to grow into. Sorry to babble but I could really use your professional opinion. Thanks..Joe

      looks neat but for that price I'd go for a 160mm Enduro like the Canyon Strive f.e Radon is fine too.. They have a great value for their prices.. Wouldnt pay 3 grand for a 2017 Remedy 8 if there are cheaper Bikes with better/equal components I'm driving the 2016 Strive myself and I absolutely love it.. Great for uphill and even better getting down your local trails or whatever :) Hope this helps you. cheers mate

    That's funny I just did a review on this bike last week the giant Trance 2!!! Wish I had that new pike fork on it though!!! I'm wondering if it's worth it to upgrade to the new rocks shox pike fork has anyone tried it themselves ye in comparison to the now old model?

    I have a XC32 fork on my HT. That fork is definition of shit. Feels almost like I'm riding a fully rigid bike :D

      fiddle with rebound adjuster ... xc30 coil here ... no complain for the price tho

      Maybe try decreasing the air pressure and setting your sag appropriately before bashing it like that :)

      Maybe try swapping it out for a suspension corrected rigid fork from Surly or Salsa. It weighs less, and with hi volume tubeless tires, probably feels about the same descending.
