    4:12- Well The Question is the best for you I added it to my wishlist but Kevin O Neil I mean he”ll always be legendary for his League of Extraordinary Gentlemen partnership with Alan Moore!

      Hmm, I've heard great things about Moore's League of Extraordinary Gentlemen but I've never actuality read it myself. Need to get around to changing that

    Waid’s Captain America was fantastic. I loved his time on the character. Great video!

      Thank you! Waid's run is still my favorite run on the character, though I know a lot of that is unavoidable nostalgia. That said, right from that first issue, Waid establishes why Cap is still important in today's modern world. Brubaker's run is probably the best plotted, but Waid's run will always be the best Steve has ever been to me.

    I used to draw the pages in an x-men Pizza Hut comic. I think that was the first comic I ever got. Man, I completely forgot about that. Thanks for reminding me. Great list!

      I can't remember if I ever did any tracing of the pages but I'm sure I tried to draw Wolverine from it. I got book wet, read through, off the staples, etc. It was a simpler time. Thanks for watching!

    Dude what a great concept of a video. Felt personal. I may have to try this myself. Cap by Mark Waid is AMAZING. Well done bro.

    I picked up the Question omnibus last year, but have not yet read it. I've heard only good things, though.
    Do you still have that issue of Captain America? I can't remember if I had/have all the issues from that crossover, but it is too bad they couldn't include the full event in the omnibus.

    • @bunkmastab
      @bunkmastab  Год назад +1

      Sadly, I'm sure that issue is long gone. I have a bunch of random issues from that run that I picked up after the fact but never grabbed 8. I probably should make it to that.
      The Question is excellent, but you've already heard me yell that many times

    Thanks for this great list I transitioned to graphic novels Epic editions and omnibus vs single issues and value wise I don’t care about rarity and perceived value vs what kind of an existential impact did these artists and writers make on my life ? Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell From Hell I’m exhausted from the overhype of Watchmen and honestly the one shots of Rorsarch and Oxmandius and the Comedian blew my head off they were so good . Obscure neglected and forgotten but supreme achievement : Frank Miller and David Gibbons Give Me Liberty and Martha Washington seminal 90s work never to be outdone decades ahead of its time . Finally Chris Ware’s Building Stories - it’s so damn good words defy description it delicately and satirically but subtly brilliant documents our human condition pleasure vs pain read it back in 2014 will never be outdone . As you know Ware along with all the other great artists they can only work at a given throughput speed of production and we wait years until the next release . His Jimmy Corrigan Worlds Smartest Kid will make you 😂 and 😢 also Rusty Brown!

    • @bunkmastab
      @bunkmastab  Год назад +1

      I grabbed Rusty Brown a few years back but Building Stories was definitely not on my radar, but it is now! From Hell is a masterpiece, love Campbell's scratchy linework on the book. I haven't checked out the new colored edition and honestly I don't think I'd be interested. So much of the impact of the book comes from the stark contrast of the black on white. I'm a sucker for a good cross hatching artist and Campbell puts that on full display in this one

    At this point in my life my top 5 (in no particular order)
    Daytripper
    Daredevil Born Again
    Invincible
    Mister Miracle by King
    Batman Long Halloween

    • @bunkmastab
      @bunkmastab  4 месяца назад +1

      Those are some incredible choices and there's some real overlap for favorite/best stories (I read Mr. Miracle when my wife was pregnant with our first child and it's still my favorite book, not just comic book, about new parenthood) but they don't quite land as most important for me. Some absolute bangers on this list, though!

      I loved the Tin Tin cartoon as a kid, never did read the comics unfortunately. My buddy Torsten is doing a series of videos on Franco-Belgian Bande Dessinée and will be covering Tin Tin on one of his episodes. Really excited to see what I've been missing, thanks for watching!
