I really appreciate you checking it out! Indie and lesser known comics are defiitely what I focus on since there are so many other great channels talking about stories from the big 2 and also because that's what I personally like to read. Any indie titles you've been loving this year?
@@bunkmastab i just started reading "Outer Darkness", artwork by afu chan is vibrant and aesthetically unique. And I recently finishe Elecboy by Jacquen Salaun, stylistically polished and beatiful artwork, although the story could have been fleshed out more. got a few interesting recommendations from watching your vids, so I'll be set for quite reading for the holidays. Looking forward to your next upload.
@@alih611 Both of those look great! I didn't know either of them but just looked them up. I like John Layman, the writer on Outer Darkness, and I don't read enough European comics so Elecboy seems like an awesome way to change that. Thank you for sharing those!
So I'm watching this on Black Friday, a couple of hours before I head out to my LCS's 3 for 2 sale. I picked up the first 2 issues of Bear Pirate Viking Queen but didn't get the last issue. Might have to check if it's there. Life is Strange and Seven Years in Darkness intrigue me so I'll see if they're available. I've been picking up the deluxe Ice Cream Man so I'll get there soon. Ultimates is already a pull list item for me and I've been enjoying it. I love that Marvel put out something so good that you had to include it. Curious to see if you're getting any of the current Absolute line from DC as I've enjoyed all 3 and will probably check out the rest as they come out.
I would love to check out the new Absolute titles ... but my LCS has been selling out before I even get there. Heck, for Absolute Supes they only had enough to cover people subbed to the series beforehand. I'll be checking them out in trade for sure
I thought I was going up wait for the Hardcover, then I saw that Evan Cagle art on the cover art my local comic shop and decided I couldn't wait. I can't wait for the New Gods book to come out in about 2 weeks!
Thank you! I finally upgraded to a new laptop that should help with the editing process and get videos out a little sooner than 100 days. Appreciate the kind words, there are so many great comics out there!
Damn that brings so much pleasure to see someone just retreat to a place of solace in the bingereadings of quality comics/mangas bunk! Sounds like something that just happened to me though it was lasted for only a month and a half. I marathoned all of Minoru Furuya’s series but sadly in usa he only has CIGUATERA released in 3 omnibus volumes (2 vols in 1). As for usa comics: FINAL CUT by Charles Burns because I love all his works including his Pseudo Comic Compilation KOMMIX. Now for Eurocomics: anticipating the return of HEAVY METAL Magazine which was just successfully backed on kickstarter. May the anthology stories be excellent. Happy Readings BmB & LONG LIVE COMICS!
Long live comics! My manga reading has slowed down a ton since high school, but back in the day I used to read more manga/manhwa than American comics, used to love going through the stacks of new Tokyopop releases. I haven't read the new Charles Burns release but it's definitely on my list!
@@bunkmastab Ah it's probably only a phase brother. Maybe you need to read more Seinens! Which is like reading Adult Oriented Literature but Manga form. I do highly suggest you eventually make your way to reading CIGUATERA since it deals with so many emotions from our everyday lives while still containing slices of extraordinary events in conjunction with that of the mundane ordinary.
Some great titles on this list. Death Ratio'd, Bear Pirate Viking Queen and Precious Metals were all highlights this year for me. I'll have to check the other ones out.
Thanks for checking this out! Glad to see you checked out Death Ratio'd, even though though Mark Russell is a big name I feel like his AWA stuff tends to get overlooked. Death Ratio'd and Not All Robots were two of the comic series I've laughed hardest at
Always showcasing the series not close to my radar! From this list the only thing I read in full was Man’s Best and you know I had a good time with it! I admitted to Jesse that I needed to reread it as I was sick with a fever when I read it the first time and damn was it super trippy, an actual fever dream come to life. He got a good chuckle out of that! I’ve also read the first issue of Helen and really liked it. From the others, I think the ones that intrigued me the most were Bear Pirate Viking Queen and Seven Years in Darkness! Those are now officially on the radar! Thanks Bunk!
Thanks for checking it out! Bear Pirate Viking Queen is the kind of book you could read in perfect health and wonder if you weren't actually in the midst of a fever. That one's such a trip
Death ratio sounds like it needs to be ongoing. Cant wait to pick it up. Also BPVQ was hard to follow at points and some art too messy. Reminded me of pretty deadly
BPVQ is definitely a fever trip of a book and I totally get what you mean about the art being hard to follow at times. I kind of liked the utter chaos of the story and the shifting art style but that's for sure a book that won't land for some people.
Yeah, Biliquis Evly is amazing. I walked 10 miles all over chicago, trying to get a bopy of Helen of Wyndhorn #1 while visiting. I've been looking for #2 forever. Uuuggghhhh gunna have to get TPB to read it, regardless of having the rest.
Dang, sorry you had so much trouble finding the series! Good news is you won't have to wait long for the collected edition, the Hardcover is coming out at the end of February and you can get all the issues all at once!
@bunkmastab i honestly enjoy yours since I never really know what to expect. That Supergirl team book and Ice cream man where the only ones I heard about
As you probably saw, it's not but I got a subscription to GlobalComix specifically to read all the Mad Cave titles. If this video had come out later, I'd definitely include Spectrum by Mad Cave, only one issue so far but that book is wild!
This man right here is the only reason I know the name Joseph Schmalke at all. I'm having a lot of fun with 7 Years. The story, while nothing mind blowing, is really fun and the whole series is just Schmalke doing stuff he likes. It's worth tracking down the Year 1 Progress Report, all 4 issues of the first year for just $10. Definitely worth it
It could have used a few more issues, but I actually liked the way it ended. It definitely sort of peters out, which is surprising for a book that had been so big and bombastic before that but I think it kind of comes to a satisfying conclusion. As always, I appreciate you checking out the video, I feel like we have very overlapping comic tastes.
Schmalke teamed up with CEX after self-publishing the first run, you should be able to get it from your comic shop. The Year 1 Progress Report reprints the 4 issues that make up the first year and it's only $10!
This all sucks. Read some real comics like frank miller
This might be my favorite comment I've ever received.
I agree, bunk needs to take lessons from you on how to be a real man! Can you please offer him some advice?
Have you read Dark Knight Strikes Again by Frank Miller? I highly recommend it
watched for your thoughtful takes, subscribed because you mentioned you focus on indie works. stumbled on this channel randomly and glad i did.

I refuse to live in a world where I don’t get to watch Bunks videos!
Man am I excited to check some of these out and Welcome back my friend!
That would truly be the Darkest of all worlds. Hope you and Mrs Nerdy had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Awesome list. Definitely some stuff on my radar. I pre ordered the hardcover for Dawnrunner a couple weeks ago so I’m looking forward to that.

Nice video, man! Glad to have you back.

It's always a great day when a new Bunk vid drops
Too mind, Labrewskiii! Hope you're having a good weekend curled up with some great comics

The good thing about Bunk... Never have to hear him say "Is Calvin and Hobbs indie?" Only heard of a few of these, glad you enjoyed them though!
@@fireboy312002 Can you imagine if I made a video about books people had actually heard of? People might actually watch and what's the fun of that?
@bunkmastab i honestly enjoy yours since I never really know what to expect. That Supergirl team book and Ice cream man where the only ones I heard about
He’s back! 💪
Man, how are you everywhere?!
@ 💪💪
Man, Dominick dropping by to flex in the comments. These are the things I'm thankful for this year
@ you’re the man 💪
I hope Mad Cave's Nottingham is on your list. I typed this before watching your vid by the way.
As you probably saw, it's not but I got a subscription to GlobalComix specifically to read all the Mad Cave titles. If this video had come out later, I'd definitely include Spectrum by Mad Cave, only one issue so far but that book is wild!
Now I have something to be thankful for tomorrow
I'm thankful to have both the Brave and the Bold Boys in my life
Love We Don't Kill Spiders.....I kept hesitating on 7 years of Darkness ...it seems to have a long time between issues.

“A week before Halloween”. Checks time. Realizes time flies. Yeah, checks out.
I am pretty consistent about filming new videos. I am very inconsistent and very bad about editing the videos I have filmed
I loved Dawnrunner, but then the book just gives up. It's like Sadamoto's Evangelion manga, but incomplete.
It could have used a few more issues, but I actually liked the way it ended. Sucks you did this video now. I'm 2 months late for the Kickstarter for seven years in darkness
