My wife has the previous model in diesel form and I know they don't make them in diesel any more but in saying that when she comes to change her car she won't need a diesel anymore due to not doing the mileage for the same anymore. I think they're great value for money.
If it was a choice between one of these, new or a second hand Clio or 208 etc, this would win hands down in my book. Just as good looking in its own way and a 5 year warranty. Job's a good'un.
Saw this review during the week and I placed my order for one today cheers for this review going from a 2015 Nissan plusar to this blue prestige version
What sells Dacia apart from their prices and supposedly good reliability reports is that they have kept them pretty simple overall to operate and maintain. It’s all very well having cars that resemble a spaceship with all their fancy pants gadgets and features but a heck of a lot of people just want a basic, simple, and intuitive to use spec for their everyday car. The money you save on a Dacia can go towards something like a 2nd hand Lotus Elise for those days when you crave driving kicks and fun.
Best value for money on the road love my Duster. A lot of manufacturers could learn from Dacia, offer value, good equipment decent build quality you have healthy sales. I understand that future Renault electric cars will also be priced sensibly Bravo! Great review too! By the way residuals are good at least on the duster.
If you just want a car to get to work or the occasional road trip this is the best car hands down. 5-year warranty on a 12k car is just them showing how much they trust their own product. This car will take you from A to B as long as you need it. imagine if Mercedes offered a 5-year warranty on their E-350 when it came out. the brand would be bankrupt.
Nice review.. but things change fast. I ordered the the most highly equipped version available in Greece, what I added extra is the alloy wheels, clima and metallic color. It costed a little more than 19000€. No electronic handbrake, no center armrest console, no rear camera, no blind spot warning and I expect it to arrive in September. Also in the meantime, Dacia has made minor changes to the Sandero for example no power supply for rear passengers, no "STEPWAY" logo on the front seats, no smartphone holder next to the center multimedia screen. Which means that you now pay more for less. If not for the LPG, I doubt Dacia would still be on the market with this model.
A few years ago a company car I had - a Ford C-Max, the least said the better of that dog - was in dock for yet more repairs and the lease company loaned me a Skoda Superb. Never was a car more aptly named. Space, pace, equipment. build quality they were all there but at a budget price. In line with what your father in laws view is my next door neighbour and brother in law thought it was a fantastic car but both said " I'd never own one - not with that badge on it. I'd buy a Passat" .... errr ok pay 30% more for less of a car......people eh?
7:57 For some, a badge gives you peace of mind. There is a big a difference between driving a car for couple of weeks and actually owning it for couple of years.
Hi Nobby, love your reviews. I'm looking at second hand 2021 Stepways for my next purchase...who knew that a few years after this review, the used prices in Ireland would go mental 😂 these are now more expensive than they were brand new....still the best value in my opinion though
Nobby I had the Duster over at home in Donegal during this week. The car is built for our lanes and bumps it was great. This is another fine car by Dacia for the money.
You mentioned residuals. Here in the UK they are rock solid, Dacia's really hold their value on the second hand market. Maybe it is different in Ireland?
Can't say it's a massive issue here either but just the fact that you can buy one so relatively cheaply, it could make people say I'll stretch to a new car with the warranty etc and skip over a used one.
Nothing is free in Dacia. In fact, LPG version costs €250 plus, and they charge €2000 for legalization and transportation fees. In 2007, I payed €360 in such fees at Toyota, for a Yaris. This hidden cost really changed the buying experience for me. Still bought it, but it still takes 2 months of waiting until I pick it up at the car dealer, while at Toyota, it only took 1 month.
It is pretty irritating how certain stereotypes persist in the public. It takes years or decades to change people's perception of a brand. Interestingly, in Poland's top ten best selling cars there is the Dacia Duster, while its parent family Renault is selling fewer and fewer cars. Thanks Nobby for your great review.
I ordered mine in November ., hopefully get it in March. I was sick of spending 10 grand on cars that were 3 or 4 years old then chasing faults round the engine after 2 years. I'm partial to a Peugeot though so that might have been the problem !
@@lordchive8944 exactly. thats pretty good for a «small» brand like dacia, it’s looking good for them. they were the most sold car this month too, even sold more than the golf. they clearly have a good product

greetings from germany... the biggest badge snobs country... Im a 23 Year old Student who needs a car. Bought myself that Sandero. I love it. Its hands down the best Car ive ever had. My friends are all like "you need a BMW" or "At least VW but nothing lower than the GOLF!" so. They cant afford that stuff cause as a 20-30 year old you most of the time are broke. But they wanted this fucking Badge so hard, they bought 10 Year old Audis and BMWs on Credit for like 13000€. I spent 16K on my Sandero Steppway wich has 5 Years on Warranty, drives LPG and is cheap because of that, and in many parts, has more features like the 10 year old Audis (for example the Media Nav, Android Auto, LED Lights and much more.)... If most people would finally notice, that the Badge doesnt say anything.... Im Pretty sure, dacia would be one of the biggest on the marked.. And i think in future they will. Renault did a great job with Dacia and is on a very good way..
Well to be fair BMW is a pretty solid car if you have an extra 100k to spare for one Before I got my Sandero I had BMW 320 for 15 years and it was one of the best cars Ive droven in my life but it was preserved so well by the previous owner that it was as if brand new
Great review. But Nobby , Sunday lunch with the daddy in law should be fun. You might find the gravy missing the dinner plate. An accident of course. Get the surfing board and go is my advice....😂
@@NobbyOnCars why 5 in Ireland but not in UK ? My next car will either be Hyundai i10 or the Dacia. Dacia Sandero has more space but with 5 year warranty the i10 is the front runner.
Good review Nobby.........But how come a 5 year warranty in Ireland and only a 3 year warrany in England ?.....Oh and spare me the tosh about the EU, that's a red herring.
This Stepway is like cheap brand white goods. It does what you need but nothing more. I agree wind and tyre noise is bad, but the handling is also poor on tight corners or roundabouts. It rolls like a 2CV and understeers. No worries, I'll just drive slower because its cheap.
Nice car but the previous model is available for £11.5K in the U.K . You have to ask yourself is it work an extra £4K . Well do you feel lucky punk? - sorry, I morphed into Dirty Harry speak 😂

That’s quite a depressing fact about car prices 😳
Good review

I'm trying to get my sister to get one of these bang for your buck. Love the idea of the the Fabia rs in your Fabia video.
I don't know about over there, however right now in the UK the basic Sandero at 1 year old is commanding a £3k premium over a new one 🤣
Great review
Thank you

That’s due to shortages, a cheaper to buy new car will be cheaper to buy used in normal market conditions though.

That’s a jump alright - here in Ireland, anything below 20k will spark interest as our prices are mad!
@@NobbyOnCars . Crazy everywhere, I remember people travelling to Ireland from the U.k back in the 90’s to buy cars!
Only badge snobbery stops these from selling multiples of what they do.
What is this male fascination with alloy wheels? As long as there’s a wheel at each corner, I don’t care what it looks like.
Dacia are sitting were Skoda were in the late 90's.
A little higher even I’d argue but yes very similar!
