  • In this video, I wanted to share the latest updates regarding my Toyota Tacoma. I finally got my truck lifted and put 33" tall tires. 🤩
    I highly recommend ARB Old Man EMU lift kit if you're in the market for one. I really love the way how the truck drives and performs both on and off-pavement with this lift kit.
    If you have any questions please feel free to leave them in the comments section below. Thanks for watching!
    Here's a link where the lift kit can found:
    yotamafia.com/...
    The setup I went with was as followed:
    Front coil setup 886 Heavy load (200lbs+): Provides 2.5-3″ lift
    Front shock configuration OME-90000 - Nitrocharger Sport Shocks - Firmer Valving
    Upper Control Arms SPC: Fully adjustable to set your own caster while allowing more down travel
    Leaf pack configuration EL112R Heavy Dakar Leaf Pack - Heavy load (300lbs+) Provides 2.5-3″ lift
    Extended brake lines 100% USA made, uses stainless steel fittings, DOT coated, use stainless steel braided hose, 3000 PSI tested, 24” long

    I lifted my 2019 off road 2.5" inches. I used bilies 5100 with a 2 inch eibach coil and spc uca's. I ended up close to a 2.5" lift. The spc uca's started making klikin and klaken noises in less than month after. I contacted spc they said that defective uca's were the problem. They sent a replacement set and paid for the work. Now about a year and half later the uca's started making those same noises again. I'm going to change out the uca's for a set of jba, hopefully the quality is better.

    This is a great video, you have exactly the setup I’m looking to get. So thanks for posting.
    A few questions:
    1) Which exact OME front springs did you get?
    2) Which shock valving did you get, firmer or softer?
    3) Did you get the diff drop kit? If no, do you have any of the weird grinding noises coming from the driveshaft?
    4) Did you get an actual 3” of lift all around with your front/rear springs?
    5) Have you experienced any sag or loss of lift with the truck unloaded over time?
    Thanks bro, this package is kind of out of my budget, so I’m trying to see if it’s worth going with this over the billies 5100 or 6112/5160 setup. I don’t like that the Bilstein are digressive springs, so they are more firm at slow speed and softer and high speed.

      Hi. Thanks for watching. I purchased my lift kit from Yota Mafia. Here's a link where you can find this lift kit:
      yotamafia.com/product/ome-old-man-emu-2-3-lift-kit-3rd-gen-tacoma/
      My answers to your questions:
      1) Front coil setup 886 Heavy load (200lbs+): Provides 2.5-3″ lift.
      2) Front shock configuration OME-90000 - Nitrocharger Sport Shocks - Firmer Valving.
      3) No, I did not get a differential drop kit. No, I don't have any grinding noises coming from my driveshaft.
      4) Frankly speaking, I did not measure before and after heights of the truck. Nonetheless, I'm quite certain it gained at least 2.5" if not full 3" of additional ground clearance after installing this lift kit. It certainly looks taller and it can be felt too when getting in and out of the truck.
      5) I don't think this suspension lost any clearance over the course of 6 or so months since the kit has been installed on the truck. My rear setup is rated for a heavy load as well (leaf pack configuration EL112R Heavy Dakar Leaf Pack - Heavy load (300lbs+) Provides 2.5-3″ lift). Thus, I still have yet to see the rear of the truck sag. I towed with it about 1,000 lbs. (2 fireproof safes and the trailer) and it barely sagged then. The rear of the truck is quite stiff and it rides much firmer than it originally was. I was told it'll soften up as I start adding some weight to the truck (steel bumpers, sliders, roof racks and etc). So we'll see how that runs out. :-)
      Overall, I'm quite happy with the outcome. Of course, it hasn't been long enough to give my full assessment for this kit, but so far my experience has been positive. Sorry for this long response, I figured I'd provide as detailed answers to your questions as I can since this isn't necessarily a cheap upgrade. Feel free to ask if you have any additional questions. Have a great one!

      I actually only bought the rear extended brake lines and I bought it from them as a whole package. I believe this is the one that came with my kit. It looks awful lot like mine by its picture.
      yotamafia.com/product/2005-2020-toyota-tacoma-rear-extended-brake-lines/
      My front lines look fine with the kit and Breland from YotaMafia said I should be fine up front with my OEM lines but for the back I’d need extended lines. But I guess it doesn’t hurt to upgrade your front lines as well if you want to, but I don’t think it’s as necessary as for the rear lines.

      Thanks for that assuring comment. It’s been well over a year now since I had it installed on my truck. As a matter of fact I recently had it checked to make sure that everything is still in tact and no abnormal wear or changes have been taking place. It passed the check with flying colors. So I’m sure it’ll do fine for rest of the time as well while I own the truck. If anything truck actually rides even more smoother now than it did initially when the kit was first installed. I think everything (shocks, bolts, springs and etc.) settled down to its place now. I wouldn’t hesitate to run this setup again. It does everything I’d expect from it to do. Cheers!

    Ended up getting the OME 3" Heavy Lift earlier this year. I went with SPC UCA's to accomadate the 33" Falken Wildpeak AT3W 285/75/R16 with a CMC. Loving it so far. It was a bit stiff but after hitting a few trails it's settled and isn't as stiff anymore. Definitley stiffer when compared to the stock Bilstein 5100's it came with.

      Agree 100%! OME is lot stiffer than the original suspension setup that these trucks come with from the factory. And I personally like it a lot actually because the truck handles much better both on and off-road with this suspension system. Cheers!

      @@johns2747 not sure what the BMC stands for but if you’re referring to CMC (Cab-Mount-Chop) then with 3” lift you should still be able to mount 33” tires without having to do CMC. However, it’s also highly recommended to upgrade your UCA’s (Upper-Control-Arm) if you’re going with 33” or bigger tires for better handling. However if you do decide to go with even bigger 34” or 35” tires or even bigger than that then YES you will have to get CMC done. And that would only be the beginning of your journey. 😅 Then you’ll also need to re-gear your truck to 4.88 or 5.29 if you’re serious about off-roading and most likely get aftermarket tuning done as well. It looks evenly balanced in my opinion. I still have the camper shell and some gears inside the bed and truck looks well balanced. Towing with this suspension setup is very pleasant. It delivers a very comfortable and planted driving experience when towing with this setup. Basically more weight you put on the truck better it handles. 😊

    Got the medium lift suspension kit from emu with the bp51 setup on today after 4mths of waiting. My guess it was sitting in a cargo ship off la for at least one of those months smh. 2021 limited longbed and it helps firm everything up. Planning for a rooftop tent and bed rack so that should put us both in the sweet spot for the leaf springs setup. Nice ride👍

    • @SOBIsHobbies
      @SOBIsHobbies  2 года назад

      That’s awesome! I’m sure you’ll love your new setup once you install it. This kit definitely helped to mitigate the wobbly and bouncy ride that long beds tend to have. I went with firmer valving with my kit so it rides a bit firmer, but I actually am liking it because it behaves like a car more or less on pavement driving.
      I’m planning to get a rooftop tent as well for my setup. I first want to get Prinsu racks across the bed and cabin. So this truck is far from being done. 😅 In my plans I also want to get a SSO hybrid front bumper with a winch and some rock sliders with kick steps. So, we can say it’s still work in progress pretty much. Thanks for checking my channel. Always feel free to chime in if you have any questions or comments. Take care!

    • @SOBIsHobbies
      @SOBIsHobbies  3 года назад +1

      I personally am very happy with the outcome. It’s been super fun driving it around. Granted at times I wish I went with softer valving on my shocks because on harsher surfaces it can really beat you down. However, on flat, smooth pavement it drives like a car. Firm, planted well balanced ride. I’ve been told as I start adding weight to the truck via various mods ride will soften up. But that will probably happen a little down the road as mods for these trucks don’t necessarily cost cheap. 😄 Overall, I think it was a decent and actually needed upgrade for this particular truck. I noticed long bed Tacoma with stock suspension had a very bouncy and wobbly ride due to the extended wheelbase. Additionally, because of its extended bed rear of the truck was having a saggy look with stock Bilstein shocks. We’ll see how long term performance will be, but for now after 6-7 months of having them on I’m quite happy with this lift kit. Thanks for watching!

    • @SOBIsHobbies
      @SOBIsHobbies  3 года назад

      Hi. Do you mean after installing the lift kit? Or in general if I have/had any issues with TSS? My radar sensor has been working fine before and after the lift kit. It's an afterthought system and Toyota didn't offer TSS when it first introduced this generation Tacoma. Therefore, TSS never really worked all that precisely on the Tacoma from beginning. Comparing my 2021 Tacoma TSS to my wife's 2021 Highlander TSS it's always been sluggish and slow to react. I believe that's because it was an added feature and wasn't meant to work on this generation Tacoma from the get go. And my lane departure warning has always been super slow to react from day one. But I'm okay with it. I've been driving small vehicles as well as semi trucks since I was 18 years old (got my CDL A when I was 19 😊). And I tend to never rely on these sensors anyway, but they are definitely a great thing to have. As to answering your question if I had any issues with TSS after the lift kit install, I haven't noticed any changes. It's still just as slow as it was prior to lift kit install.😄 Nonetheless, at least it's not throwing any error messages. From what I saw on social media and on RUclips sometimes these lift kits (not just this particular kit but any lift kit) can generate TSS error messages. And luckily, mine has done that (yet). 🙂 I hope, this answers your question. Thanks for watching.

      Well, you're already off to a good start by having the truck. 😁 Jokes aside, I went with full lift kit (shocks, coilovers, leaf springs, UCAs and brake lines). Everything together came out to be around $2,400ish and the install was another close to $1,000. So roughly ~$3,500 give or take. While it may not be cheap, but at the same time it could've been heck of a lot more had I gone with something like ICON, KING or something similar to those lines to achieve this sort of outcome. I did some extensive research (while my primary goal was to achieve no more than 2.5"-3" lift, stay under $4K for everything and find a good kit from a reputable manufacturer). This is my very first lift kit and I never done anything like this to any of my previous vehicles. With all that said I figured it'll almost be impossible to go wrong with ARB product, so I went with OME. It's been several months now and I got nothing but positive experiences with it so far. But time will tell how it'll perform overtime.😊 Thanks for watching!
