  • Johnny Thunders - Born to lose 1984
    That's the way it goes
    This city is so cold
    And I'm, I'm so sold
    That's why I know
    I said hit it, born to lose
    We're born to lose
    We're born to lose
    Oh baby, I'm born to lose, oh
    Nothing to do
    Nothing to say
    Only one thing that I want
    It's the only way
    I said hit it, born to lose
    I said hit it, born to lose
    I said hit it, born to lose
    Oh baby, I'm born to lose
    Baby, I'm born to lose, oh
    Livin' in a jungle
    It ain't so hard
    Livin' in a city
    It will eat out, eat out your heart
    I said hit it, born to lose
    I said hit it, born to lose
    I said hit it, born to lose
    Oh baby, I'm born to lose
    Baby, I'm born to lose
    Baby, I'm born to lose
    Baby, I'm born to
    I said hit it, born to lose
    I said hit it, born to lose
    I said hit it, born to lose
    Oh baby, I'm born to lose
    Baby, I'm born to lose
    I said hit it, born to lose
    I said hit it, born to lose
    I said hit it, born to lose
    Oh baby, I'm born to lose
    Baby, I'm born to lose
    Baby, I'm born to lose
    Baby, I'm born to

    Johnny was always underdog regarding to music industry, so don't judge him too hard, his band as well. At least, he was an original, in every way..

    • @nothx962
      @nothx962 5 лет назад +20

      He wasnt an underdog. Motley Crue was getting famous around this time and worshipped him (along with many of the BIG rock/glam bands in the 83-89 era), and Johnny was also an ex New York Doll...who went their seperate ways literally right before they were thrust to super fame and become the America answer to the rolling stones (early to mid 70's.) Then the Heartbreakers blew up but didnt last because they were mostly junkies (Richard Hell left and that hurt them too). Walter Lure was a badass though and kept it together it seems, but they still flamed, fizzled out, and died due to drugs (late 70s). Jerry Nolan (piece of shit but good drummer) and him were inseperable, but a toxic duo. If Billy Murica never died things for Johnny could have been so so different. Big labels wanted to sign him 80% of his career... but they were weary of his addiction issues, which followed him for his entire life post NY Dolls. Johnny was a legend/original and your right about everything else you said...but if Johnny would have put together 2 or 3 years of sobriety (or even just stayed on a low dose of methadone) or ditch some of the toxic women & ppl around him (easier said than done) in any of the years between 1976 and 1988 he would have been signed and likely a millionaire, but writing songs about heroin and playing a show with a heroin needle loaded w dope as a hair accessory didnt help his cause. He unfortunately couldnt (or didnt want to...he played up his image and then he would dissassociate himself with it, he did this a couple times in his career but always went back to drugs). He was a victim of bad timing, drugs, his ego, fame, hype & attention at a young age, women, hanger-ons, and most importantly...himself. But then if he did go sober and gotten rich...would he have been the original that we know and remember? Would he have stayed hungry and written the stuff he did? Would he have been better or worse without all the motivation and creativity that comes from struggle and pain? Maybe he would had achieved the level of Bob Dylan and died of leukemia at a much later age in his mid or late 60s? Endless possibilities. We'll never know, but we still remember him and always will...and I wasnt even born until 88, so hes obviously reaching different, newer generations. ;) Just some food for thought. This was him RIGHT BEFORE his obvious physical decline started to be really noticeable...definitely caused by the combo of drugs (heroin, pills, coke and methadone...sometimes all 4 but always atleast 1) and his undiagnosed leukemia. Yes...I am a Thunders fanatic :P RIP JOHN GENZALE aka JOHNNY THUNDERS.

    • @nothx962
      @nothx962 5 лет назад +5

      I still gave your comment a thumbs up too ;) Cheers! Wish there was more clarification and less rumors about his death. Too Much Junkie Business for us ever to know the truth. I think it was just advanced leukemia due to the non lethal levels of drugs, and then Dee Dee Ramone and all the street people in NOLA made it messy with all of their stories...but I could be wrong. I hope he didnt meet foul play and his room was just ransacked after he died naturally, that it wasnt a robbery/murder or a robbery that caused fatal wd seizures...and I hope he wasnt scared or feeling any pain. But it does have some strange vibe to it (that he was dead within a day of arriving in NOLA, the missing stuff, and the sounds people heard the night before sounding like a brawl or he was trashing the room).

      @@nothx962 I would hardly call Jerry a PO'S compared to some of the other cats around then. He could be very charming, and Johnny could be a jerk. I did not know them well, just enough to chat at parties and um, other places.

    Saw him at the Whisky in LA a year after this and he was so strung out on junk the show almost didn't happen. He finally got on stage about an hour late and they only did about 6 songs and left. really disappointing. Plus, the performance was truly bad. he was stumbling around and could hardly play.

      @jessiecantor4299 5 лет назад

      "Every artist"? Hmm....That's a generalization.
      The Rolling Stones, yes, definitely. They had been doing that since the mid-late 1970's to out punk the Punk rockers. They didn't really succeed.
      But not every artist. The Cars didn't. New Wave bands didn't. Most bands started doing that crap in the 90s.
