Thanks for posting. Very pleased I saw this 😮. Was going to pay £30 to see them in May in Bexhill UK, but would rather pay a fiver to see a cover band do it. Call it a day guys and remember the good times 👍🏻
I'm exactly the same. I drove down from London to see Devin Townsend at the DLWP in Bexhill recently and then found out that the DKs are playing there in May. I was already unsure about seeing them without Jello and now also without DH. I think I might give it a miss. It's a shame, cos I've been a DKs fan since 1980 and never seen them live. I did see Jello with The Guantanamo School of Medicine in London in 2009, and they were great.

This is, by definition, a travesty. It's a joke, a parody, and a hideous defiling of the legacy. Old fat people who need money are literally playing topical songs from the 1980s. There is no new material. Their young selves would laugh and spit on them. At least Jello has formed different bands and come up with new things to say. Jello is not perfect and he has perhaps taken too much credit for the legacy of the band. However, Jello is 87 percent of the legacy. I think the song "chickenshit conformist" is very relevant to this, it criticizes this sort of lack of originality, this grasping to something gone. It was made by this great band, can't remember the name, oh wait, no, I do remember it: The Dead Kennedys.

I love the DKs, but I want my money back!! Truly sad. Recently, I was watching some old DK videos and thinking that Jello Biafra, because of his stage presence and physical performance, could have easily transformed into a Billy Idol type money machine around 1979-83. Either no moneyed backers saw what I saw, or Jello was for real. But by time Frankenchrist came out in 1985, it was too late. And that record was one I had to make myself like, much like Husker Du's Zen Arcade.
