Pretty good score actually, only missed the very first squeeze. I've never hit the first squeeze before, so this is pretty alright for me. Had I hit the first squeeze, I would have tied Apethehippy, which would be a total honor.

For anyone curious about the introduction of this song via the guitar solo, this is a Wavegroup (the band that made most guitar hero 1 and 2 songs before they had more money to purchase the rights) remix of the studio version.
The Studio version contains that gruesome, but badass solo at the beginning. Other differences include a slightly faster tempo, less emphasis on drum patterns at the end, as well as that more distorted two note hammer while just screaming Pol Pot’s name.
If you are morbidly curious, this studio version does also have the word that replaces *brother* in the song, but WaveGroup did not use it for both explicit language and the complexity of the word, which lead singer Jello will currently live perform the word “brothers.” Even still, many who gave the approving of the word still being in releases note the lack of use of oppression, but to actively crap on the oppressors. In other words, Jello just speaks the thought of people who act like they loved those folks they passively campaigned for in the civil rights while in college, but decides to speak what most of those fragile boomers really think.
My opinion? It rocks like f*cking hell in this studio version. Literally crapping on the pseudo-progressive boomers who did a bunch of crap for themselves, then turned around and became both the system that oppressed the poor while they kiss their asses up to people who could care less about them. How fitting that so many idiots today will compare policies they don’t like to the Khmer Rouge when they were high as a kite and spitting on soldiers instead of blaming the government.
It kinda makes you wish the Studio was the main, give it a listen on Spotify. It’s absolutely insane, but in the best way ever.

The fact the 1987 version is their most played song and the studio version isn’t in the top 5 makes me sad. One of the best songs ever made. In my opinion
@@A_rodisI agree that the version you are referring to (off the album Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables) is by far the superior recording of the song. However, the version that you refer to as the 1987 version was actually released as a single a few months before the album was released, and probably was recorded slightly before the better version. The single version appears on the compilation album Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death (1987) which is probably where you got mixed up with the year. So, even if the worse version is played more, it is at least technically the “original” version. Just doing my part to spread musical knowledge! ✌🏻

Looking back on it (I was able to compare both on Spotify, while Listening to Dead Kennedys Vevo version with more semblance to this), I am curious how both got spruced up with the GMC/GMD and Fresh Fruit versions got such an off-balance of play. I grew up on the former, so I always noted the difference and, once learning about WaveGroup, perceived they were taking the studio version due to more complex guitar riffs.
Either way, much appreciate for the comment!!! It brings a lot of points that are both good and new to me!
I do often listen to the original, but I usually listen to the remaster from Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death bc Jello’s low vocals in that version match my singing style

@@julianvil.9754 after almost a day trying on keyboard, i gave it up and tried with a autoclicker and it worked, i set it up the second strum to right click and activated the auto with `c` (the auto was on 25 clicks per second) and after passed that fk intro i desactivated and could beat the rest on my own

The first time I heard the Fresh Fruit version I actually did a double take. I was listening with my friend, who also wasn't familiar with that specific version, and we were both like "wait a minute, did... Did Jello just say what I think he said?" and, yeah, he did.
Yeah, I'm Black, so I was a bit taken aback when I heard it. I get the point he was making fun an artistic standpoint, but it didn't age well
Its literally impossible to beat this song on Expert if you don't have the Guitar controller. The intro has notes that come at such a fast pace that you're forced to double-strum if you even want a prayer of beating it!

Now when I look back at th GH version of this song, it's so weird not hearing Jello Biafras voice. It's so different compared to the Fresh Fruit album version.
Gotta admit though, they did do a decent job emulating Jello's voice.

looking back when I was so young and naive of this song, I didn't know what it was about. Until I heard the original 8 years ago. "The Brothers feel Cold" and "Cold Hot" really did me dirty.
Fast fact about later song “Cult of Personality,” when comparing figures as cult of personalities (Mussolini- Gandhi, for example). The actual freaking song was supposed to say… uh, not wanting this comment to get removed, “guy who got rejected from high school and got mad at Europe” from WWII. To be fair, however, that is the original song full out, not just GH3.
I actually *just* noticed they use “Cold, Hot” instead of Pol Pot. That’s a wee absurd, but I guess we were still going through the “nooooo the children can’t hear this” movement of history.

Ah that was good, saw them in 1982 and saw Jello in Sydney last year.
If you didn't know this song has 2 distinct versions, one with the crazy ass intro here and one without. I only heard the latter growing up and just thought they made up the intro for the game to make it harder lmao.
I expect some people to say that this song is impossible to beat without Guitar Controller on Playstation 2 - which it's not xD
This statement is actually wrong. If you have some good strategies you can beat Holiday in Cambodia, Knights of Cydonia and One, but it will cost a lot of trials and errors, lol
I remember playing this game back in 2008-2010 near ending of my adolescence on Playstation 2 Dualshock Controller and beating both 3 songs were something that almost everyone here was afraid of. So, I just completed carrer on Hard mode to unlock all songs, trained a lot on these songs and decided to try on Expert mode joining this "suicide mission" xD I didn't even use Hyperspeed cheat... I didn't know it that time.
After a lot of training and suffering live, when these 3 songs got beaten, I went back to my home after finishing the game beating Lou (which isn't too hard as it seems) with my hands and fingers completely destroyed, but it's worthed and was so happy about it! :D I barely played Through the Fire and Flames well, even knowing that wasn't rock metered (Impossible to fail). Was almost midnight here and around 3-4 people were present to testimony it.
Days later, I played those songs again only to put my records on it and saved on memory card via Quick Play mode.

@@JuanMorales-cz3rr había un truco para que pudieras hacerte apoyo con los otros botones del mando y así pulsar dos veces el mismo color al mismo tiempo.
Pero con el verde no funcionaba.
Por eso podía pasar la primera partr y apenas, pero ya en la 2da sí que se me hacía imposible porque ya mis dedos no daban pa más xd el calambre se sentía fuerte al intentar hacer lo mismo por segunda vez. Jaja

This is probably the only cover I like better than the original version because the intro riff is more Metal-y.

@@EmersonCoelho i know that but Activision should make a dedicated remake with updated textures and animations. They should also package a new guitar or if you had the GH Live guitar you could use that as well. Considering the code for the game is most likely still in existence somewhere at Activision HQ, all they need to do is update the textures. But since it’s not Call of Duty it’ll probably never happen. Plus Activision is having internal issues atm so they shouldn’t focus on more games before their issues are sorted out

With being able to download games today I think they should have one that comes with a guitar and the physical game and one that comes with a guitar with a download voucher.

Dead Kennedys have 2 versions of Holiday In Cambodia. The one on Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables (the one with the intro) and a remaster they made for Give Me Convenience Or Give Me Death (the one without the intro) GH3 made a cover of the original Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables recording, while the Rock Band games got the master recording of the Give Me Convenience Or Give Me Death version

Guitar Hero re-recorded covers occasionally themselves with session musicians. I’ve heard both versions of Holiday In Cambodia by the different Dead Kennedys lineups, and this isn’t either of them.
