What have you changed since you originally posted this video & used the closet for a while?
You are one of the most relatable influencers on YT Liz. It’s refreshing, thank you.
AGREED!!!
Option 2 for folding maxi dress over hanger bottom… a pool noodle on the hanger prevents that crease from hanging on hanger.
Liz , At Home, is a franchise big home & garden store used to be Garden Ridge, just like TJ Maxx and HomeGoods not just in your area lol
I like option 1. I also do the colors coded method. It looks very pleasing when I go into my closet.
Hello Debbie
Greetings from Johannesburg South Africa. I LOVE your videos - watch them for hours!
Hello Lauren
Welcome to another God Given Day! Thank you so much for the Closet Organization video! I choose Option 1 on the dress folding, as that is a more secure option especially for dresses that the shoulder appearance is important and needs to maintain it’s structure on a hanger. This video could not have better timing as I believe, like myself many people in cold weather climates like we both appear to be are itching for Summer weather! And what is better to do to get ready for summer than to spring clean so you can spend more time enjoying the sun! The motion detector light switch is amazing, however for people like me whom have no lights in some of their tiny closets I have attached a pic of the option we chose from Amazon that has served us incredibly well. I pray the Lord continues to bless all you do! In God’s Grace…. Sybella Grace
My husband said I was weird to color code my closest. 🤣 I color code my closet and I organize my shirts by short to Ling sleeve and its the same with my dresses.
Perfect video! I have been working on my closet for a couple weeks. When you live in a climate with four seasons, that’s a lot of clothes and shoes. I figured out that the perfect solution for me would be if my husband would take his stuff out and give me the whole closet 😂
Perfect solution! 👍🤭
Well, I am a widow, and if there used to be space where hubby put stuff, I have long since filled the void. There's a rule I saw somewhere: When you buy something new, something old has to go out. I've also heard one in, two out. I just can't get rid of my raggedy old favorites, or my favorites that no longer fit.
Good luck with that! I’ve been trying that for years…..🤣🤣
I Agree totally!!!!
I love it. I don't & never have had that 'issue' but I still like ur thought. ha ha
At home is in Michigan too
We have an at home store in Augusta Georgia. I like the small velvet hangers, but I have a feeling people will be replacing them in the future. Eventually the velvet kinda dry rots and falls off. The shedding is horrible. I had something in velvet that did that, and I just had to get rid of it. Instead I bought the plastic hangers with swivel heads like a lot of department stores use. I bought all black ones from Amazon. I love these kind of videos.
I color coordinate and love it, and I love my costco velvet hangers, omg, and I only like one color, the same color, for those plastic hangers: white was for me, pink for one of my daughters, blue for my other daughter, and black for my son. Ha
Yes Liz, Louisville KY has a At Home store finally! Great store too!
OMG you have no idea...I have been obsessing about my closet lately and trying to figure out an organization system. Thank you for this! Some things won't work for my apartment closet since it's awkward but I'm going to try! Thanks for the extra push! =D
I color code my clothes and long sleeve to short sleeve to camisoles
I like the option one. This is a really good helpful useful video
Glad it was helpful!
I could never do this in a day. Actually taking everything out of a major space causes anxiety and stress.,.. too many decisions in a day. In case there are others like me - Dana K White has another option that is doable and doesn't make me feel like a failure
Hey! Don't be so hard on yourself. Failures are just opportunities for learning. If your friend got into a pickle pulling too much out at once, you would probably comfort her...not call her a failure. So treat yourself like a friend....ALWAYS
Looks amazing !if only I had a walking closet! I have to side by side closets super frustrating to organize . Been looking for a video that has closets like mine 😔
I like option 1
Where did you get the stackable bins that you used for your laundry? I need something like that in my laundry room. Thank you for your informative and creative videos.
Option 1 looks like it won't wrinkle too bad.
Love your videos! I’m in the process of doing a complete makeover in my closet. Can’t wait until I finish it! Love your hack videos and Amazon product videos, too!
At Home here in Florida and back home in New
Jersey
I wish I could do so great on my closet
Option one.
We do have the At Home store in Illinois
We have At Home here in Houston, TX
We have AtHome in NJ
option one 👍
It was a very informative video, thanks again :)
Option 1
Hello Liz, I liked option 1 for the long dress. Do you have any suggestions for people that use dressers?
#1 dress nice thank you
Las Vegas has an at home store.
….”I don’t know. There’s some fake hair here…”😂
Great ideas
This is amazing
Opt.2
Where can I get the last bins.. please
Number 1
How long is this going on for? I have sooooooo many clothes to donate!!
Hello Leah
@@richardtaylor1468 hello 👋🏼
@@leahgolden7242 How are you doing?
We just cleaned out our closet and built the IKEA system in January. We hung our clothes with the hangers backward on the rod. Once we wear and wash that item, we hang it back on the rod the "normal" way. Next January, if something is still hanging backwards, it means we didn't wear it and off it goes for donation!
I do this too !
Good idea.
YEP! I'm going to do that thit time too!
I would need to get rid of everything in my closet
omg, what a GREAT idea!!
Option 1
Hey Liz, are you doing this in one day? You had a helper today. I like option 1 for the long dresses. Thank you for sharing with us your closet mess and how to organize it!
This is exactly what I needed today! I’ve been putting this off for years. I’ve lost 125 pounds the last 18 months. And I have slowly been taking the too large clothes out. But realistically, I have about 5 sizes of wardrobes in my closet. I purchased a bunch of my favorite t-shirts last night for spring and knew I needed to work on it to have somewhere to put them. Since most of my closet I don’t even wear. This gave me the motivation to get in there and get all those clothes out and just put the clothes back that fit my current body. Thanks for the motivation and beautiful organization.
Congrats on all your progress. I worked with my mom and she went from a 2x to a 16 and has kept it off for 2 years. My mom took clothing to Encore where they give you cash and sent a box to ThredUp. She also selected to donate whatever ThredUp would not sell. It is a great feeling as she had 30+ bins + three closets from years of unsuccessful dieting plans. Stay healthy!
Congratulations on your weight loss! What a feat!!
Big congrats on your weight loss!!
@@TH-eb5ro THANK YOU!! I will have to look into that. Does ThreadUp just send them for rags? I’ll have to check out Encore. Thanks for the Ideas. I still have so many bins and bags around, trying to decided what to do with them all. So many of them are really good clothes. But, if I can’t find something “easy” to do with them, I will just donate to Goodwill and a few other places we have around here.
Congratulations 👏 Blessings to you!!!🙏 ❤ Please tell he how you lost the weight?
I've used option 1 most of my adult life and I'm in my 60's. Its a great! I.also sometimes use 2 hangers , the seconds holds the bottom portion of the dress. This is great for dresses that wrinkle easier because you can stretch it out wider; it just depends on the dress.
I do Option #1 and if it's especially bulky I hang the lower portion on a second hanger then hang that on the lower portion of the first hanger. Colour and item category coding is essential! I love the way my denim jackets look lined up in gradient order haha.
Hello Muhcat
Great ideas - my daughter came over and helped me do this to my closet the other day….well one of my clothes closets. One left to go 😬 Love option 1 for dresses - definitely going to do this to have some extra floor space!
One thing I have done to downsize my closet is I only put clothes for the current season in my closet and for the other seasons I put in a tub and put it in my garage. I have been able to keep my closet less cluttered. Its definitely a must do. Hope this helps too 🙂
Great Idea
Yes I finally started doing that. I have one dresser drawer full of leg warmers, soft fuzzy sock-slippers, holiday socks; ie; St patrick's Day, Halloween, Christmas, also thick socks for really cold days, knee socks, I hardly ever wear. and tights for winter....Then I have a drawer for bathing suits ,nylons, and footies.
Hi from England. I am lucky I have a huge cupboard in two separate bedrooms. Twice a year I move from the unused bedroom cupboard and its contents to my bedroom cupboard. In spring and reverse in October. So I always have the correct seasonal clothes in my bedroom.
Yep, I do that too! But I put them in another closet in the house because in SC you can't store anything like that in the garage because of the humidity !!!
Hey Liz- I do a my longer dresses a different way. I use two hangers. Hang the dress normally through the neck. Then take a second hanger and scoop up the skirt of the dress over the hanger. Then hand the second hanger on the cross bar of the first hanger. It takes a litter more space, but I feel like I won't have to iron the dress this way
I color and pattern code EVERYTHING. My closet is sorted in categories; Tie dye, plaids, patterned, etc.
You're hired! 😁 Just curious, do you included short and long sleeves, tunic, crop, dress and casual tops in your line up? I've tried every which way and it drives me bonkers.
Hey Liz, have been needing to clean out my small closet for awhile now. Thank you for the motivation and ideas for storage. Your closet looks wonderful. Our master bedroom closet is so small. I just have my clothes in there and my husband has his clothes in the guest room closet. Buying some dollar tree buckets and basket will really help out with some organization. All I need to do now is turn on some good 80’s tunes and get going.
I have categorized my clothes for years. But, rather than sort the categories by color, I sort by style (long sleeved T-shirts, long sleeved dress tops, etc). Whatever the weather or occasion, I can look at that section and decide what I want to wear. Btw, we have At Home and Home Goods here in the Dayton, OH area.
This is the way I do mine
I have always organized my closet by 1.type of clothing (summer/winter), then 2. by color. So much easier to find exactly what I want.
That's a great idea!
We're you get the gray bins I have to do mind It looks like a 😞😞😞
Hello Gloria
Thank you for this awesome organization video Liz! Definitely love option 1 for long dresses. I’m a visual person who needs to see the options available…without having to remove each dress and create a pile of disaster. Must admit that I noticed a bin on the top shelf labeled Costumes and it’s created a flurry of thoughts in my mind. Is it filled with Halloween items or items for more dressy occasions like jewelry or shawls or is it filled with fun options for Mom and Dad private time or etc? Truly appreciate you sharing this organizational journey and hope you post more for different areas all around the house please.
❤️ from Shannon in Canada 🇨🇦
So much wasted space with all those bins. Bins that you'll never look in either or use because you can't see what's in them. Probably would've hung the the jeans and folded the sweaters.
Liz, I enjoy your videos, you are so inspiring. For hanging up long dresses I like option 1, I do that now and don't have problems with crease lines. Thank you and have a great week❣️
Love option #1...I do that option in my own closet and color code as well....great video and hacks
OMG! My closet is waaaaay worse than yours!!! I should do a video on it! NOT! ❤
Really nice transformation. I do have "closet envy"...Your closet is much larger than mine. Still, I could organize it better. 😉
Option 1 for the long dress. You still have a lot of clothes even after you purged things. I am a minimalist so all those clothes in my closet would drive me crazy. I do like your bins you have for your dirty clothes.
I don't think I have but two of her sections of clothes. I think I saw some of her husband's clothes too? I wore uniforms for so many years. Pretty full closet in the end.
We have an at home in Omaha and council bluffs IA! Such a fun store. I organize my shirts by tees, long sleeves, tanks, sweaters.
Hello Samantha
Believe it or not, your closet looks better than mine, even before the makeover. TFS:)
Omfg! You live in Missouri?...YESSSS!!! Finally now when people ask me why I moved from Australia to Missouri I can say cause "derr, its where Liz lives".
😂 Lisa you made my day!!!!
Option #1. I never realized you were from Missouri. I am in Southern Illinois and we also have At Home stores. Can you tell me where you got the shoe organizer from in your closet the cubbies that are white?
Hello Krissy
Great vid! I use option 1 for long dresses. I also keep all my clothes in my closet (no need for a dresser!). I keep socks & lingerie in shoe organizer pockets hanging on the back of my door.
I'm originally from MO too, but I'm in the PNW now and we have At Home stores here also.
Hello Debra
My closet is always a mess, just organized this weekend and I'm hoping to keep it that way. I love your blouse, do you have a link?
I was thinking the same thing. Love that shirt
Great video! I'm about to organize my closet again -- it's been a few years -- and I'm happy to have your suggestions. For the long dress, I like Option 1. I color coded my clothes last time, but I found that I preferred hanging clean clothes from the left; that way, everything on the right-hand side of the rack was obviously something I wore rarely -- or not at all. No electric outlet in my closet, so it's time to order a battery powered light to go in there. Thanks for some helpful ideas.
At home is around in Tulsa and Rogers Arkansas we 😍
I have an At Home Store where I live in Ohio. I would love if you would do some At Home videos.
Hello Patricia
Great tips!!! We have AtHome stores in Michigan. Love that place!!!
Hello Cori
Option 1 looked neater, the other made me think of a teenage girl in a hurry to hang up her clothes b4 she could leave the house. Lol
Hello Joan
Home Goods is a National chain, part of the TJMaxx, Marshalls group! For jewelry I took a large piece of cardboard, thick is best! Then I covered it with a dark colored fabirc and nailed it to the wall that is behind my bedroom so that it isn't seen when the door is open. I live in a very small apt. and just don't have another wall such as one in the closet (in other words, don't have a walk in closet). Then I used push pins to hand jewelry on. It is so PERFECT to see every single piece of jewelry I have so that when I am choosing what I am going to wear, I just look at the one wall and pick out my accessories! It works great! Now I have one of those things to hang on the door for bracelets and watches since they are too big for push pins. It is the smartest idea I have had for jewelry display and instead of just using 25% of my jewelry I now use it all because I can SEE it all!!!
🙂 beautiful !!! Doggie 🥰😘❤️
Option 1. I've done my closet and when I'm putting back I iron everything.
Good idea
Hummm may try that.
Option 1 …..and I love all your videos❣️❣️❣️
Hello Angie
You are inspiring me to clean my messy closet! I have color coded and grouped by type for years and it helps so much, but I am a bit OCD. My shoes are also color coded but the ones I wear most frequently are on the top shelf of my shoe rack (3 tiers) but still color coded.
You are very helpful, cleaver, and enjoyable to watch. Down to earth girl I have implemented some of the things you suggested. Thank you so much!
JUST A HINT! LEARNED FROM.YRS OF TRAVEL...Roll ur clothing! (After folding to to so...Fold and Roll.. Takes up So Much Less Space!) Keeps them neat, wrinkle free and takes up less space! Folding is a pain... and often wrinkles items...Roll to your hearts content! Saves Time, space and keeps things organized and wrinkle free! Let know what you think!?!
Dress hanging option #1 for sure because then the shoulder area of the garment is still visible when you look down the row of hangers. Method #2 hides the garment entirely - out of sight, out of mind ..
Oooh I love those acrylic dividers
Hello pretty
I find Option one works better for me. Love the target bins better than the wicker ones because they don’t click things in them and are also much easier to clean/wash out. I find things stored in bins are easier to manage and keep tidy.
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. ✝️(Romans 10:9)
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
(Ephesians 2:8)
Hi Liz! I love your closet.
Just found your channel! This video is really helpful. I'm looking forward to watching your other videos!,❤
I bought the same hangers at Costco. The only problem is I cannot use them. They shed some black dust and it is staining my clothes and leaving a mess behind. I bought 150 of them. Please help! I dont want to throw them out. How do I fix this problem? Can I wash them? Any suggestions, anyone? I can’t return them I shipped them overseas!
I love all of your hacks and ideas. Hamper genius! Ceiling lights always need to be replaced and motion sensor amazing!😮😊
But I also loved all your closet organization ideas
Hello Amanda, how are you doing
That dumb thing about "If you haven't worn it in six months, toss it: What about seasonal clothes. In August I haven't worn my Christmas sweater or velvet blouse or bulky sweat shirt. In December I haven't worn my sleeveless tanks,or my shorts, or my swimsuit! Stash these in whatever storage place you have. I also have a few purses on one hanger. I have 2 or 3 cami style tops with built in bras on one hanger. My scarves are in a plastic box about shoebox size on the shelf. I DO have too much STUFF! And you are inspirational.
I can't do it all at once. (I'm 80) but I am making a dent. I don't believe in the Marie Kahlo way of pulling everything out at once. I'd wind up with everything out for months!
Hello Liz. I'm in Lafayette Indiana and we have an At Home store. I've never shopped in there yet but we have one here.
You're in Kansas city?!?! I'm in Warrensburg! Small world! Anyway, At Home stores arr regional, they are home based in Plano Texas, and have stores as far north as Ohio.
This weekend I went through my dresser and bins, ( I don't have closets in my house ) and I managed to get rid of 11 garbage bags of clothing (328 pieces) and 4 garbage bags of boots/shoes 46 pair. It is extremely mind blowing that I even owned that much, still have to much so I will continue to go through what I do have left and see if I can dwindle it down a lot more.
A year later lolol. But I'm so glad I watched it! I love all your ideas! I don't have any walk in closets (yet) but as my children have grown and married and moved out I have moved into to their closets lolol. My husband took one of our son's for his hunting and camping and fishing things (where mine go as well 😂) but the other two is mine so I have one that I share 50/50 with my husband in our bedroom although I took the middle shelf and top shelf and the other two closets none of them are walk in. And I need to reorganize them since I now have my youngest daughter's closet now! So I have 2 and 1/2 regular size closets to work and I'm getting a dresser and some store bins with drawers. love the sock bin idea instead of a drawer! I like the outfit of the day/week hanger idea! Long dresses and skirts folded I'd great for floor space. You're shoe shelves are great. And the earring displays is a great idea. I might do that with my girls. Its only us two now but I need to reorganize the 3 empty bedrooms for future sleepovers with our grandchildren and yet use them for storage. Thank you for sharing your ideas! Its going to be fun! I usually give my clothes to goodwill and also to a women's recovery program and a safety domestic violence thrift store and clothing closet for those who can't afford to buy clothes. We blessed to have these ministries on our area.
I love watching your videos, especially this one!! You always look amazing too. Could you please tell me what lipstick you are wearing?? I love the colour. Thanks very much!!
One tips from French Quebecoise: for socks: what to do with my 3 men's black socks: each wearing different size: use broiderie string for each person, I needle each new socks with the owner color. Something with boxers, etc. As I am not the one doing laundry, my 3 adult size men learn this system.
Just wanted to say thank you for your suggestions. The Day Light bulbs....Game Changer!!
Hiya,
I have a Facebook page that’s all about closets and we are always looking for great ideas to help us get organized in our closets.
Your video has a bunch of great organizing ideas and I would love to share it to our page along with your RUclips link to this video.
Of course if that is ok with you?
Love watching your videos♥️
This mess gives me anxiety....I go thru my clothes twice a yr and get rid of 4 to 5 garbage bags full of clothes every 6 months. I built my own shoe shelves in my closet and put in the closetmaid shaker style organizer in my closet and added hooks for bras and tank tops and belts. Now I can find everything
