    It takes a lot to bring this grumpy old man to tears. But there’s something about the simplicity and beauty of the life that you are leading that makes me mourn the waste of time and resources in my own life. Be true to yourself and follow your heart.

    Hi there , if you can it would be a good idea to build a shelter over the wood pile to keep the snow and melting water off your precious heat source. I know from experience that it is no fun to half to dig your firewood out of a snowbank in January . A structure with a solid or flat roof that will shed snow is much better than a floppy tarp. Tom in Canada at the NB-NS border. Have a good day.

    It's probably just the idea of being stationary for months throughout the winter that has you feeling off . You spent all that time preparing now just sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labor as they say !!!! God bless you all !!!

    I think both of you are having smart thoughts, concerns, and “omg” scary moments but what I’ve witnessed with both of you is your love for one another and your ability to make it through a rough winter will challenge and assure you that you are with someone worthy of yourselves. I’m excited to see what you both make of it. Please remember, love is compromise, respect, & the ability to understand one another even when you don’t understand (empathy) You’ll need all of these to flourish and have the deepest understanding and love! Linnea, I was so excited to see you bonding and loving both your pups while digging out your root cellar.

    • @Linneaandakela
      @Linneaandakela  Год назад +2

      Yes, I agree, I think our compromise, teamwork, and communication is one of the reasons why things go so smoothly with one another. It has been a blast together!
      I’m confused why you were excited about me bonding with the dogs? I have done that from day one with both of the dogs. But I also respect that Kobuk doesn’t like as much physical attention than Akela. They both need love in different ways, and I will always respect that ♥️

    • @kmossuto
      @kmossuto Год назад +1

      @@Linneaandakela It makes me happy to see pups loved unconditionally. Unfortunately I’ve seen mates become jealous/mean to other “loves” in their lives. This can happen with pets, kid, siblings etc. it’s a great sign when you witness their “step parent “, sister etc treating them with the same love and respect they all deserve. I KNEW you would be that person, ensuring that everyone in your family has what’s needed. Sorry if it didn’t sound right. Sometimes I dislike this type of messaging as it can lead to my inability to communicate effectively. Lol

    You might feel a little off just because it's winter. Seasonal depression is a real thing. The long nights lack of sunlight and cold weather can make even the happiest of people feel a little funky. Just remember what the journey is all about. It's definitely not easy going through winter living up north. I live in Upstate New York and deal with it every year.
    Just remember how blessed you are to live the type of Lifestyle that you chose for yourself and it is a lovely one so enjoy.
    From me, my wife, our two dogs and three cats in Upstate New York. Thank you for sharing your videos we are new subscribers. Sending caring peaceful thoughts your way

    I have been watching your videos for a long time now and I specifically appreciate this one. it was bravely honest the way you shared how it feels to transition to the quiet of living in the woods. I wish you to find whatever this beautiful new chapter has to show you, and I applaud you for having the courage to do this, both in a sense of the hardcore living conditions challenge and also in transitioning from heavy doing to full time being all with a fairly new relationship. this is living, even when it gets a bit icky at times. good for you ♡

    I’m not living a nomadic life and I have a 9-5 job, but this video is a great reminder of how fulfilling winter can be if we embrace it and lean into it. It’s a great season for pursuing hobbies and reading, and sometimes it’s just too easy to come home and watch tv all night.
    Thank you so much!

    I can feel the off vibe your feeling through the video. Either you did a great job capturing the haunting vibe or it’s just that strong. I think your feeling that way may also just be that you’ve committed yourself to staying in one spot for a while after being nomadic for quite sometime, also you are jumping in full force breaking into a complete new chapter of commitment to each other it may be a bit heavy at first but I think you of all people will adapt. Also winter in itself is a heavy emotional season and it may have been a while since either of you experienced it. Best of luck friends sending warming thoughts.❤️
    P.S. Chris is awesome for going on this journey with you.

    That reading really hit deep with me, personally. The bear (specifically the black bear), has always been a guide that comes to me in my dreams. The bear is a guide, helps teach introspection and wisdom. I was fortunate to have a Native AK tattoo artist, put my guide on my back a few years ago. This journey the four of you are on, is beautiful. I LOVE the thoughtfulness, hard work and spirit you both put into this adventure. I have been in over 3 feet of snow, and up in the mountains, the last month, and it truly gives you beauty, challenges both physically and mentally. but, as any good adventure, that is what some of us long for. After months of prep and constant movement you find yourself suddenly "there" and you slow down and stop. So it's decompression. Can weird you out. Lol

    For all our talk of not falling into the trap of deferred living, you stepped in it, my dear. The "off" feeling you're experiencing is happening, because usually you plan and do stuff to go. Now you're planning and doing to stay. It’s backwards. The both of you are so similar, of course you're gonna feel some deflation. Try to remember why you wanted to do this and keep Chris in the loop and busy so he doesn't lose his mind, cause he didn’t really make plans for this time. You're just finding going with the flow isn’t as easy as it sounds. True isolation that seems can only come from the cold of winter arrives with it's own difficilties.
