Good detailed review on all of these headsets except one of the two in the title. You barely touched on the HS65 Wired Surround headset 😞 I need to know if there's a way to bypass the USB plug and use a Y-splitter (like the HS50 uses, I believe). My motherboard has amazing onboard audio and I prefer it to the USB dongle that comes with the wired HS65.
Well, for some reason I was having problems getting the Y-splitter from my HS50 to work. I dunno what was up, but yeah... it works fine, now. BTW, anyone looking at the HS50, take a hard pass on those. Most uncomfortable headset I've ever worn. Well, that is, unless you want a permanent dip in your skull and not being able to game for more than 20-30 minutes until your "head" breaks in to them. In all reality, it took 4-5 hours for the "dip" in my head to go away, so I had to plan events where I'd see other people around my gaming sessions lol. I wanted to use the onboard audio on these HS65's vs the USB dongle because I love the features the B550-F Gaming Wi-Fi II has (the non-II and the B450 Gaming II has them, also). These all use the S1220a codec, whatever that means. I've had no issues whatsoever out of my B550-F and that includes sound. Be it quality, crackling, popping, etc. Zero issues. You download the drivers, use the Realitek Audio Console, turn your "dual OP aps" up to Extreme, use SSIII and choose the "Deep and Bright" equalizer and you've changed your $50 headset into a $150 set. Headphones are NEVER loud enough, but the amps in these boards can really crank up the power. There are three settings... Performance, Powerful and Extreme. In that order is the order that it cranks the amps up. I always use Extreme and just adjust via the volume toggle. Now, if I didn't own Dolby Atmos and DTS:X Headphones for my spatial sound options, sure, maybe I wouldn't be doing this, but I have them all. So, I wanted the extra loudness plus the ability to use a higher quality surround sound. Unless your headphones have 7.1 speakers, it's all emulated. Well all know that, right? So, instead, I use Dolby Atmos (the most) for the 3D sound. It truly works. And if I want to use "7.1", SSIII (Sonic Studio) has that option to virtualize 7.1 surround sound. Plus, it gives me control over my microphone and I always tend to add a +10 gain boost. The microphone on this headset? Amazing.
Hi, I saw this review because I was looking for solutions on bad Bluetooth and WIFI connections because I just bought the HS65s and although I love the sound through them, the bluetooth is unusable I'm getting constant drop outs when I turn my head and I'm sat 3 feet from the BT device. I wish the WiFi side was better too but I'm getting constant dropouts and I'm 3 feet from the PC and total disconnection If I walk into the bathroom that's in the next room. I'm having to revert back to my old wired headphones. The only WIFI I have is a router in another room with a wireless printer that works flawlessly.
The wired version of this or the G335 wired? Noise cancellation on the mic is important to me and I prefer the sharper sound mix that you mentioned, for competitive games.
@GadgetryTech could we get a video of a review of the new Audeze Maxwell Wireless Headset? Would love it, you deserve so many subs man, your so thorough.
Hey, I really like your videos I saw another video of yours about the Turtle Beach Recon 500. Which would you recommend/prefer? Turtle Beach Recon 500 or Corsair HS65 Wired? Thank you
Hey! I recently bought the HS65 Surround for playing on Xbox Series S and I think it was not a great choice. In my opinion, you can get the most out of this headset in PC using iCUE and just using the 3.5mm jack its pretty meh on console. Thinking about returning them and maybe going for a cheaper option (Artics Nova 1?). Would really appreciate your thoughts on this. Love your reviews.
It's awful on console, I bought this expecting it to be a real steal from all the reviews I had watched but it's simply not made for console if you want to get the best out of it.
HS80 (as the VirtuosoXT) fails the toilet test. That is a huge bummer since I really like everything else those two headsets have to offer. Particularly the volume and mic mute sync with windows, as I use them for work all day long. I wonder if there is a way for them to knock the sound quality down for better range, when needed. That would be a game changer for the most versitile headset, period!
Hello, very good video, I really like your review, now I have a question, I need to change my headset (I have a razer kraken rn) and want to go for something better, my options are the steelseries nova 3 and the corsair hs65 wired, for you which is the best option? and do you have any other recommendation in the same price range? Thank you.
It's common with any headset that uses a 3.5mm TRRS plug. The audio shares a ground connection with the microphone, so at higher volumes, some of it can bleed into the chat.
I really having a hard time.. I got the barracuda x from 2021 But the volume wheel been acting really weird.. below 80% it’s only sound on the left side which is quiet annoying when you making video’s and streaming sometimes.. the way they fit is really great.. I think it has something to do with the type of headband.. not that “ new type strap headband “.. Bought the Astro a30.. way to firm imo the cushions are also like bricks.. for that insane price.. was a big no The Corsair virtuoso rgb.. really small ear cushions.. me ears were touching the drivers Instant.. also the sound I found to be mweh.. even with EQ tune.. Logitech G735 - looks amazing absolute stunning but the headband material and cushions way to firm.. but damn does it look good.. also the software of Logitech is a pain in the ass with saying the headphone is inactive so u can’t make any adjustments with the ghub without getting that fixed ( Jesus know how ) SteelSeries Arctis 7+ Sounds absolute AMAZING.. but the headband is so tight even when I loose it up.. it’s a weird feeling.. like your head is balancing on a cord but not really resting.. ( weird to explain ) but the cushions and sound damn.. also they are really bulky my head isn’t that big after all haha ! ARCTIS NOVA Same as the 7+ but men this things look really business like it looks boring as hell.. wish they made it in white to fresh it up a little bit but out of all these This is the most comfy one.. have tried g733, G735, HS80 and the HS65 wireless ( wich also looks kinda boring in white ) BARRACUDA 2022 nice tight fight.. looks absolute great.. but something is really off.. when I compare it with the older barracuda and even every other headset I can almost hear my own heart beating when I have these things on my head.. and my voice when I talk is really bassy.. to much air pressure ? On your ears.. really weird.. just a nice not over gamery looking fresh white headset with detachable mic ( prefer ). And a nice bass and sound like the steel series.. anyone idea ?
