I have also seen triangular roll bars for one-seater Caterhams. Some modified Caterhams in Japan have it installed. I think a triangular roll bar was available on the 160 Supersprint and the 250R Kobayashi.
Another informative video. If fitting a roll cage retrospectively do you need to notify your insurer? Fitting a roll cage to any road car normally puts the insurance quote through the roof!
When it comes to insurance, we'd err on the side of caution. Insurance policies often state that you must tell them of any modifications to the vehicle insured. Best not to give them an excuse not to pay out in the unfortunate event of an accident, eh? 😊
You can have the windscreen with the SLR cage - you just can’t remove it as easily as with the Roadsport cage and you can’t fit the doors with the SLR cage. Softbitsforsevens do a half good for the SLR cage with fixings for the top of the screen.
The trackday cage looks so nice and usefull. I'd probably go for that one if I ever buy such a beast of a car. BTW, how much does it weight? Would it be too heavy to install on a 170?
Hello @pablovedoble - weight wise it should be fine. You’re best checking on caterhamparts.co.uk to see if there is one specifically for a 170 though 👍
Showroom looks Amazing!! Look at all those lovely Sevens 😍
Very informative. Many thanks indeed.

Going the other way, aside from personal safety, is there a downside to removing a roll bar completely, for a more classic look?

@@turn7caterham Great! Thanks a lot
One more thing, do you know if you can fit armrests with the trackday cage?
@pablouvedoble Yep! Not a problem 👍
