- Some Caterham drivers choose to SORN their cars over winter, and some like to carry on driving. Regardless of which case fits you, a thorough clean is going to present your pride and joy at its best! In this short video, we run through a cleaning process, and present a couple of thoughts on 'winterising'.

Firstly, I try and limit hibernation to only when there is salt on the roads - otherwise it still gets used (Cold dark nights make for more power and more fun!) The main pre-hibernation piece of work I do is to get the car in the air with the wheels off, and then to go round and sort any damage to the powder coat on the chassis (POR15 is the best I've found). I also use the opportunity to get rid of any built up road debris that would otherwise sit and rot over winter. Finally top up the tank, plug in the CTEK and then say goodbye until spring :(
great vid, thanks
Great video!
Thanks for posting but a little disappointed- most of the video was simply about cleaning the car. Was hoping for something such as whether to/where to spray ACF50, specific things to prepare the car for hibernation.
Hello Adam. Candidly speaking, we originally pondered that level of detail. But then we realised there are a lot of options, and recommending a definitive one over the others didn’t feel right. When it comes to anti-corrosion, we realise a lot of folks do use ACF50, but wiping (not spraying! 😱) WD40 is also a common option. And we’ve heard of customers using Bilt Hamber Atom Mac too. We are working on a Short about grot traps though, so stay tuned for that one 😊
Only just came across this channel and its great! Subscribed 🤙🏻🏎
Welcome aboard! 🫡
Jeezaloo, this is why 2nd hand ones in Caterham look so grubby especially underneath, people are using a hose & trapping all that splash in the chassis rails for lovely rust to eat away. Use bucket/sponge little water for light dirt or dry wash after each rip. I spray wd in chassis rails & never flood it with water. Its a specialty vehicle, not a Fiesta, but there again my Westie 7 is 25yrs old & immaculate
I just bought this car……throttle body heaven!
Nice wallet 😊
Any chance of putting a video up about fuel pumps and how to diagnose if they aren’t working? I have a dead K series and I think it’s fuel pump so I’d like to have some advice on how to get some diagnosis confirmation before I pull out the fuel tank and replace the pump.
Hello David. Candidly, it’s probably a very technical video that wouldn’t be given justice here. You know what troubleshooting faults can be like 😊 Give our workshop a call and see if they can help you out? 01423 575877
I wish to see all Caterhams on the Dyno
That could be a lot of Caterhams and a lot of dyno time Benny 😂 There are soooo many derivatives. If you’re in the Caterham & Lotus 7 Club, those sorts of discussions do happen a lot on the club forum 👍
@@turn7caterham I know, or just the cars you had on the Weight scale 😉
And a 620R on top please 🤗
great idea this channel, and welcome good tips.
My 485 thanks you
Premier Power appear to have ceased trading and so the link to winter engine care doesn’t work.
Any thoughts on replicating PP’s advice in a RUclips video ?
Hello Mark. The link is to the page archived on archive.org - did you try it? It works fine for us 👍
Its me!!!
We do believe it is too @ceciliafbrown373 ☺️ Drop us an email to hello@turn7.co.uk please and we’ll sort you out. Congrats for being one of the few who actually watch to the end too 😂 👏
It's winter in Southern California... I had to put my windshield back on...
😂 Temperature still in the 80s? 70s? Sun still shining Ted? ☀️
@@turn7caterham 🤣84F this Monday, then 80F... it's going to get cold by the end of the week with only 72F 🥶🥳
@tedseven1332 We can but dream of such temperatures Ted 😂 🥶
@@turn7caterhamahah I bet! And yet I'd like to take the Seven in the rain like I used to do when I was living in Belgium :-)
Love your channel!
Nice wallet
Brave to show a black car being washed…great video again.
We know John! There are some beautiful colours in the showroom at the moment, yet this black car was filthy and needed the wash before going in there (the others didn’t want to let it in until it’d had a bath 🛁 😂)
I would love to recommend some Poor Boys Wheel sealant... Not a sponsor but a product that is amazing for wheels
Top tip Luke, thank you! 🙏
Are you not afraid of getting water in the car. It is a soft top
Driving in Britain at any time of the year creates the risk of getting water in the car Grumpy Cat 😂 ☔️
Let me know where to ship that wallet 😂
Well done for staying to the end Joao, but unfortunately you were pipped at the post on this occasion 😔 Kudos for being one of fabulous watchers-to-the-end though! More Easter eggs for you fabulous folks in future 😀
Hmm, hardly very technical or original guys. I was hoping for some real nuggets of Caterham care info. 🤔
Hello! Did you watch to the end? There are a couple of tips in the wrap up. We’d also love to hear what you would’ve like to have seen? Anything we especially didn’t cover that you’d like help with? 😊
Well that was at best a very average detailing presentation...Guess I'll spend my time watching detailing videos irrespective of the car
Awww Ian, that hurt 😢 (ha! It’s fine. We’re not a detailer, and you’re spot on, there are some great gurus on RUclips. Enjoy them! ☺️)
Yeah I know - however looked at a number of your other videos also and I must say they are fantastic in presenting bite-sized, informative, enjoyable and engaging info. Still believe any washes are from the top down though! @@turn7caterham
