Anno 1800 ~ The first investor in 1 hour ~ Speedrun ~ No townhalls or mods.

- Someone had a speed-run up on RUclips, where he reached investors within the hour. This inspired me to pursuit the same. After 12 attempts, I knew the barriers you have to prepare for; money, steel, concrete blocks and windows.

My description went way over the RUclips 5000 letters limit, so I moved it to my blog;

I gotta say, you're much better than I am at this game lol .... learned a few things just watching you, thanks!
Day 2 of playing Anno 1800:
"Nice.. I'm almost not losing money anymore, I've built a schooner and I think I can risk building an Artisan building, I hope I my town can cope with the changes."
Looks at this video:
"Ahhhh..." *throws PC out window *
Haha. Shame of your PC, did you even open the window first?
Welcome to ask questions, or take a look at the more sane playthroughs, I shot a (second) tutorial at my channel recently, seems a lot of people appreciate it ;) > ruclips.net/video/jeWmADvjRGk/видео.html
I love this comment so much cause this me so me the first time I played Anno XD
Me : using cheaty mod 😢
legit blew my mind when you copied the potato+distillery pattern and it was a perfect fit
It was not my first time using that build ;)
Agreed. That was epic.
So Damn true
Agreed. I’ll definitely be using this pattern and many others you did throughout this build. My heart rate was through the roof watching this intensity. Haha
yeah i say "ohhhhhh" when i see it
Investors in 1 hour?? I get my first workers in 1 hour. You are amazing
It's always incredibly awestrucking when a veteran Anno player does his stuff at such speed with such precision - it's very enjoyable to see and admire. Kudos to you.
Thank you.
+++Does it work on windows 7?
@@volepadni Support for Windows 7 ended on January 14, 2020.
@@volepadni I'm playing it on Windows 7.
No real opponents. What was the challenge?
Bloody hell. Just learned a few new things to play this game within 2 mins! Thank you
5:02 when he copied, flipped and slotted that shnaps setup in like a jigsaw i creamed.
I feel like a moron now. I’ve never had an investor. Haha
I have several more sane playthroughs. Check my playlists, to find hints, suggestions and choices.
I utilized your city planning and industrial technique and implemented it on a multiple island venture. So far I am not losing money but I am getting a pick me up with quests to keep me building to keep from the red.
holy moly.... you've surpassed my 9 hours in 40 minutes
HA! Amazing! I just started playing a few days ago; takes me an hour to set up a couple of neighborhoods and some Schnapps distilleries...then most of it burns to the ground because I didn't build any firehouses! :D
An Anno 1800 masterclass! Helped me a lot in getting to the New World before the AI
Great job! I learned a couple new tricks and techniques! I liked your comments once in half an hour :)!
there are really levels on how to play this game.. this guy is Top G of Anno 1800
I played thru the campaign ages ago and then got distracted with other games. I am just about to com eback to the game. I didn't even know there was a resident after engineers lol. Amazing stuff.
Glorious to behold. One of my new favourite games. Lovely to watch your quick play style . I picked up a few tips I would not have considered before. For instance upping the production levels at the cost of happiness to your citizens. Very useful in a pinch.
I tend to focus more on beauty and relax while creating a sprawling metropolis. But this has helped me for when I want to play against more aggressive competitors. I need to change my play style.
Thank you for his video. And well done!
Thank you, take a good look at my more rational playlists for more in depth strategies and gameplay choices.
Every time I restart this game I learn a new way of doing it, figuring out the proximity of each building helped me build five different districts for each citizen: farmers, workers, aristocrats, etc . Watching this was fun! Ty
I watched your video a couple of days after you posted it but it was so impressive I had to watch it again (today) just to appreciate your skill and expertise.
This was in my recommended for the longest time with that tempting thumbnail, finally I've finished it
Nicely done m8
Watching your video made me realise... speedruns or just being quick are about preventing waiting, in this case - by generating the construction materials quickly; another thing that for me makes a huge difference is using modular (rectangular) designs and knowing that Copy+Paste is your best friend... Copy+Pasting with roads blew my mind - either for industrial or residential blocks
i learned so much from this video. Thanks bro
Congrats man, after a dozen tries, wow. Will have to attempt this myself one time.
Thank you.
I thought that I finally learned how to play after building a city who didn't go bankrupt. After watching your video, I can officially say that I don't know how to play. lol
Lmao, where you are in 15 minutes took me 2 hours 😂
You are a wizard! Please hold a master class so I can become your apprentice.
WOW!!! Took me like 40 hours to get there 😳
Impressive!
wow, literally 59 minutes and 59 seconds since the game loading, absolutely perfect gj!
I always restart my game after getting artisan ( and bankrupt), and I never knew how to achieve this. I am using this video as a loose guide. I didnt know how to plan for town layout.
The potato farm lining up really good. liked and subbed.
Your income mostly comes from the amount of residents/people, you can hover on their needs to see how much someone is paying per item.
Happiness goods like schnapps, beers etc also gives you a nice income so keep an eye to fulfill them, if you're going bankrupt on getting to Artisans that means you either upgrade too fast, or build too much industrial buildings especially iron stuff, they're expensive to keep up so try to build them according to your needs and to your income.
Literally what the 1800's and 1900's were...produce, produce, produce....fuck feelings, everyone's angry...but society is moving forward...
Jokes aside, awsome vid.
Extremely mind blown 🤯
Amazing video, congrats also I noticed you and me build cities with same layouts :D
Thx.
Within the freedom of design, there is a certain logic for optimal easy usage of these free design decisions, which over time will lead to a big change of equal outcome.
i was a bit disappointed when i realised that you can increase the ingame speed, but STILL, this was amazing
so beautiful, goed bezig!
Really amazing to watch
I've bought the full game with dlcs a year ago and built 2 huge cities on Story Mode. I never finished exploring all the DLCs but I fondly remember the Import and Export functions from that one DLC that fixed my huge issue that was the lack of coffee in my supply chain. I sold watches and bought tons of coffee. Good times. Maybe I should start over with your efficiency and see how I'll do.
I forgot time when playing this game.. Lol..btw Insane way to play mate..
Wow that was a thing of beauty! Good job sir!
Thank you.
@@jasperwillem You were so methodical, it was like watching an AI player fast expanding, must take hours and hours of experience to play that quickly :)

Wow you can copy a complete selection?
This was really the best tip ever :D
wow 3 seconds to spare!

meanwhile i've been building a city for weeks, then later realize that i don't have any space for trails
Dude this is amazing.
Man .. it was incredible ...what a great run..

really great job but not gonna lie, im triggered by the fact you dont use hotkeys :D
*standing ovation*
Он за час построил столько, сколько бы я строил неделю 😁👏👍
If I ever seen an efficency this must be it xD Great job man. And since you are Anno focused player I had to subscribe :)
Thank you.
All those bricks and no paved roads :P
The investor was like ''how the fuck do I spawn around the bumpkuns !??''
Damn, he is not even using shortcuts and have a time to choose between one building orientation and the mirrored one.
Sitting at 15hr to artisans
Tom me 6
This is amazing.
astonishingly
Im blown away to the point i didnt know you could upgrade fishing huts.... if i find out that you can upgrage schnaps and clothing im gonna be mad, ive got 10,000 people in my city, still loosing money and can never seem to get them supplying enough goods for the demand, so i keep building more then needing more people...4th time ive started again, going to try again today
I guess you must consider that people is also a resource and houses aren't full until it has all needs satisfied, so at first you need extra houses to have enough people to work your buildings to provide them the goods they need to be there.
You might find this useful: simon-uhrmann.codes/Anno-1800-Calculator/#/demands
What do you mean by "upgrade fishing huts"? I must be missing something. How do you upgrade fishing huts?
Ive just started playing anno on campaign right now. Just look at your video make me want to start over but spend 20H in single savegame just cant take it another all way around.
As someone who has started over about 60 times now, I understand your feelings ;)
But your setup are awesome optimal space wise.
@@akukuat101 Check some playlists with some more sane playthroughs, to see how the choices displayed here came to be ;)
@@jasperwillem ohh definitely will.
I see how this is possible now. Sacrificing beauty and no aesthetics or museums. Also no happiness production chain. But job well done! I've been playing this for like 12 hrs now and i'm currently stuck at engineers. I shoul prolly stop building happiness chains now.
To grow safely into Engineers, I recommend building up a maximum of 40 houses of Engineers, without supplying them, or building any infrastructure related to Engineers, safe up to 2.000.000 Gold. Reach this by supplying all Luxury needs to Workers and Artisans. Then start boosting your liquidity with income from; Beer / Schnapps (sell to Anne), Soap (Sell to Eli) Gardens, Zoo's, Museum visitors. Sell Weapons to Isabel (even between Jean and Isabel, with profit). Balance your production streets by optimising them with items from Eli. Remove your vulgarity to a secondary island, same with heavy industries, then welcome visitors in your capitol (income). Do not build a lot of steam ships, only do that when your investor islands go up, not before.

Pro Anno Gamer !!!!!
Greetings from Lima, Peru.
Saludos desde Lima, Peru.
Thx.
5 hours in to my first save and managed to get nearly 800 artisans made sure to make everyone happy and not go overboard with industrial to keep a stable income made a massive defence around my islands everyone hates me atm.
Im a long time Annoholic and it is pretty hard in the beginning to not go bankrupt but over time you learn the mechanics of the game and learn to tweak it. This video in particular shows you the power of overproduction and propaganda. That's the way I do it at the moment. Gives you major benefits. I leave even the hardest AI way behind doing it this way.
@@kushpush2724 yeah luckly am not bankrupt yet
i find it funny that i found your channel, cuz my first and second name are Jasper Willem xDDD
best tutorial for the game on youtube...cheers
sir, what do you need? A,LOT,OF,WOOD!!!!!
Yes, Timber is always needed, a lot, but also bricks.
wow, cool, in one hour, amazing
damn. that's amazing.
Baas!!!! Hoewel het was 1 uur én 23 seconden xD Heel sterk gedaan!
Thanks for this video my friend. 👍
I think can build residents on different islands for every class. Example: Farmer island, worker island, artisan island, engineer island and as the last one investor island. Also can build for agriculture or industry island with a pear.
anno, the competitive FPS game.
What kind of meds are you using because mine does about 40% of your current building speed? ~~(00)~~sorry I need to go for treatment now you blew my mind =/ !
He plays as oiled as his money income :P
He does! :D
i don't build enough fire departments i think.
When you are used to Expert games, the anti fire grid covering, gets ingrained in you.
The RTS-way to play Anno 1800
like timelapse but its not :) very well work :)
lekker man bro
I play anno casually and this is great way to learn optimal plays thanks for the quality upload and clean play :) can you tell how you know when to expand production chains w/o looking at cntl Q?
Thx.
After a lot of gameplay runs, you start to know from experience how much resources are needed for how much houses. So, 100/200/400/600 houses you know from memory.
I settled 900 island, say 1/3 of those were island with houses, then you build up a town 300 times already.
Nice, earned a sub.
Awesome video, do you also do multiplayer matches? Would be very nice to see your techniques in action against others! :)
Just a small note: You used 25 influence on the first newspaper although there already was an article that augmented the hapiness in the first place.
Setting the newspaper, is a reflex action, most of the time I don't read the newspaper, nowadays I have set it on automatically.
In multiplayer, it is a race on 50 min to attack first with a spearhead attack and then extend the timer until you bankrupt the other, it is a very broken mechanic. So, I do not like playing that. Only for build challenges.
I didn't know that and I understand that on your level it is not that interesting anymore. ;)
But maybe it would be cool to have a video where you explain how to build an army as quick as possible during a competitive round? Just an idea...
And do you play Anno 1404? I like it more for a quick multiplayer round than Anno 1800...
thanks, now I know what to do in my multiplayer games
MP games are about having three gunboats at around 50m and then pinprick the enemy harbour building, extend the timer until the enemy goes bankrupt. Then repeat it with the other guys. I find it very boring and repetitive.
@@jasperwillem well yes kind of, but I just wanted to point out, that some of your strategies (like building soo many lumber jacks) inspired me and I realized what made my progress so little when I played mp with my friends
It won't win any beauty contest, and might break some human rights, but damn is it cool :p
This guy is obv top tier in his knowledge of the game, but it is incredible how much easier things are without the AI breathing down your neck constantly.
Have a video up that has an Investor up in Ultimate Expert in 4h43m, what is your time?
@@jasperwillem I've never timed myself. After watching your video I played the game for the first time without AI competition and it was a ton of fun to play without the added pressure of AI.
@@LouieNJ good to hear 😀
Anno on next level.
I thought I was good at this game. Apparently some people have 999 IQ and are not to be messed with. My respect sir. How much gold to sign a peace treaty?
With Anne? Always request a ceasefire; it starts at 20k coins, then it slowly goes down if your military power goes up, after a while its free, then you have free peace when you have 50 political points with her.
With Jean, do this; Declare war the moment you enter the Arena (he will always declare somewhere later), then make a ceasefire for 20k (if you are out of money, consider temporary selling a share of one of your own islands to the queen.), then slowly it will diminish until it is free too.
I thought i went overkill with 6-8 sawmills early and i dont even do speed builds. Would be intresting to se how mutch profit the Royal tax is eating up.
That was a very close call 2 sec before the 1 hour mark.
When you play with patterns it’s not that complicated actually.
The main issue is that we get lost in details most of the times.
Should I produce or buy from NPCs? Which island to settle next? If this island is enough with resources and deciding how many islands to settle?
Blah blah blah
There’re so many possibilities blow my mind up while there’s no point in fact🤦♂️
Ubisoft should’ve done a proper tutorial for this game. Thanks to you tuber they helped me a lot. Especially, Tarakuza
Proper tutorial would be impossible, I've played every Anno since 1602 came out, and after playing this one since initial release, I'm still figuring out new things that can be done.
Very nice.
First investor in 27 hours
im not even an anno player.. but this is impressive
Thank you.
question about workforce
at 46:32, where do those workforces come from without residences on the island?
ty
The Expansion bonus, you can see the "Conqueror" shield at 46:33. This bonus adds 50 workforce for each tier.
@@jasperwillem does the additional workforce need to be provided with needs products?
No, its completely a gift, it goes upto 200 workforce for each tier, on the highest expansion tier.
The Workforce can also be shared with other islands with the Commuter Pier.
Did you develop this game? You are literally the master of this game
Hi, i think you are expert in this game so i would like to ask u a question since im new. I noticed you overproduce and build lots of farmers before even needing them. Is this optimal or you should build production building only when you need them?
It is a dance, I always prefer to overproduce, a little bit, so you are always safe when riots hit or there is a fire. That way you build some stocks.
Grow your cities to a maximum of about 1500-2000 farmers / workers with this strategy, after the royal taxes will disappear the income from any extra houses.
Really nice, but could have probably shaved of another 5 mins by using more shortcuts
brilliant video. especially because of it's truly inspiring effect on people! wouldn't it be more efficient to have e.g. the wheat farm closer to the mill etc? or like all the sheep farms within walking distance of the workclothes-maker instead for them to have to go through the warehouse? I always thought the individual steps of a production line should be as closest together as possible while almost only the last part of production line needs to be as close as possible to a warehouse?
Check the distance on farms, most of my farms are in range of my production buildings.
@@jasperwillem i guess so, but they have to walk quite a bit, don't they? or does that not matter much?
@@HamMobox in most of my bigger games, I try to have 1 farm extra in most supply chains, so there is less idle times, then the loss is minimal, same when you are overproducing anyhow, like in this game.
@@jasperwillem cool thanks for clarifying!
very useful
wtf ) so good graz
nice video, didn't knew u could copy layouts. How do you do that?
Use the pipet function in the HUD, next to the BUILD tab icon, which you can drag. Use shift to copy / select a single farm with fields.
@@jasperwillem thank you :)
