Black hair is fragile! Nothing is a quick fix not relaxers not naturals. Naturals and relaxed girls have the same routine and that just goes to show that Black women really need to take extra care with their hair.
I’m so glad to see you say that because I’ve been both natural and relaxed, I hear people talk about all the “work” it takes be natural, but routine literally the exact same 🤷🏽♀️ Everything she said is my exact routine, and I’m natural
Relaxers permanently chemically destroy your hair’s texture and it makes your hair even weaker. Idk why people are still relaxing when lace fronts and weaves exists🤦🏽♀️
@@AbianahTheGemini a lace front leave half of ya'll with no edges, relaxers exist because for the people that understand the science behind relaxers you can have healthy relaxed hair. It's lack of knowledge. If it was soooo harmful it would not still be on the market literally decades and decades later. Hush with the foolishness.
@@AbianahTheGemini Some people don’t like fake hair. They want to wear their natural hair. I just relaxed my hair after 4.5 years natural. I’m happy I did.
Oh my goodness talk about nostalgia. I started watching your videos when I was 19, ten years ago. You changed my whole philosophy on hair care back in those days. I went from nape length to bra strap length and then to waist length all because of you.
I'm so glad you remained relaxed and didn't jump on the natural hair bandwagon because many people did. Glad you chose to stick to what YOU like for YOUR hair! I'm currently starting my relaxed hair journey again and honestly wish I stuck to it when I was mid back length and didn't big chop to go natural :(
I am 15 months post relaxed, but not planning on big chopping even if I proceed in no more relaxers. Even if I decide no more relaxers, I have no beef about anyone who decides to continue relaxing. For me, it is not about coming to hate relaxers, I once watched Kim Cash Tate, I forgot how I came across her, but she felt a spiritual conviction to no longer relax, so, I was thinking, just in case, no more relaxers for me, but Kim sent and chopped off. Myself, no plans for chop. But I will accept and support those who continue to relax if no more relaxers becomes permanent for me. My main thing now is learning to get smooth roots without a blow dryer, since my dominant shoulder is screwed up and it takes not much to put too much stress on it doing certain small things, so, I need to air dry my hair until I can afford to buy a soft bonnet dryer. I did find out earlier this month that Tresemmè flat iron spray is awesome for me to go with my one month old Red By Kiss Straightening Comb. I got to buy a new one, as it stopped working, or may try Asavea brand, since I saw if I use the right things, straightening combs are dynamite! Plus, Red By Kiss, I was able to use on my roots without feeling the burn. Would like to try Argan Oil spray see if that can help. But I gave up Argan Oil ( never used spray version before ) when 4 years ago I got diagnosed with eczema ( Keratosis Pilaris) and my scalp came to hate Argan Oil. But hearing of silk presses and the oil has me begging to try the spray version of the oil! But when I tried the non spray version, it was 5 years ago when I got a Conair Infiniti flat iron that had One'N'Only brand Argan Oil with it, and I love how it made my hair smooth. Works better than Paul Mitchell Super Skinny..... Bless the spirit of those who read this book! 😂😂😂😂😂
Same here girl i was just so confused when i went back natural because thats what everyone was doing so much so when i relaxed and everyone was natural i didnt know wtf i was doing so i went back natural but i really dont like it....i am 1 year natural and waiting until i hit that 15 months mark and i will relax again
Same here just relaxed yesterday after years of fighting with trying to find products and people that can tend to my 4c hair Had to cut 3inches of bad natural ends. Starting over at chin length with relaxed hair
I'm natural, but your relaxed hair maintenance is on point! It's funny because your regimen shows that whether you're processed or natural, a lot of healthy hair habits are universal. I do many of the same things that you showed in your wash day routine and your approach is so sensible. I also love how you demonstrate braid/twistouts on relaxed hair. Our hair is so versatile when healthy and it saddens me when people think you have to be 100% kinky/coily/curly or 100% bone straight. Great channel and your hair is gorgeous!

Thank God I found you!!! I’ve been subscribed since last week Thursday and now I am confident about relaxing my hair in a healthy way. There’s been so much stigma put on relaxers that it’s become a taboo to relax ones hair, it’s become a battle between the “naturals” and the “relaxer girls” but it shouldn’t, relaxing your hair is a preference and a choice!!! People speak about chemicals yet they will wear makeup 💄 as if that doesn’t contain chemicals. What people don’t seem to get is that everything has chemicals, it just depends if those chemicals are toxic or not!!!

My relaxed hair use to be your length. I had a vicious hairdresser who said that my hair was breaking and convinced me that it needs a little trim. She went scissor happy and chopped my hair off. I stopped her several times. She didn't listen. Now my hair is just touching my shoulders and I'm trying my best to get my hair length back. I'm seeing another hairdresser now so I hope my hair will start growing faster. Plus I noticed that vitamins help with growing your hair too..
OMG! You see this is what I can’t stand about some stylists💔 So sorry hun, it will grow back and better than before. Hair vitamins help, but nothing beats a solid regimen with products and being consistent. Check out my ‘Retain Length’ video so you know how to protect your ends - which is key to growing your hair back long.

Thank you for sharing this post even though it's been 2years ago. I subscribed to your channel. I love your channel already you explain in detail on hair growth. The do and don'ts.
Hi. I’ve been watching your videos over the last few weeks, and they have been very informative and helpful. Regarding wigs, is it necessary to wear them? I’m at the beginning stages of trying to grow my hair, and I was wondering whether this would be a good place to start. I’m glad that you mentioned that you wore wigs in the past as a way of retaining growth because I feel as though some people do leave that part out! I would prefer to retain my hair growth without wearing wigs but if that’s the way to go, I’ll do it. My hair is quite short and so putting my hair into a bun isn’t possible. Anyway, thanks for all the content you put out there!
Hi Cassandra! Yes, wigs played a role in my ability to retain length. It’s not necessary but very helpful. When my hair was too short to bun, I would just clip it up. If you are able to just clip your hair up, try that and see how you like it. If not, try wigs. It’s a great place to start and you will still be able to carry on with your regular hair routine. Thanks so much for watching.
I wore wigs my first 2yrs and my hair grew so much but then I wanted to wear my hair out so for the next 1yr I did....That wasn't a good😒 idea so even tho I'm not crazy about wigs I will invest into a couple of really good wigs to start growing again...Also Thanks for the extra tips😘
Too gorgeous for words Queen. Thank you for this sis. I just relaxed after 2yrs of struggling with unmanageable NATURAL HAIR. This will help me nurse my relaxed hair so that hopefully I don't have to go back to being natural. That was A NIGHTMARE!!!!! I kept my hair hydrated DAILY and it was still IMPOSSIBLE to manage. Now, the only issue I have is weaves and wigs. I just don't like them. I wore weave braids when I was 16& never put weave in my hair since.... And I'm now 40. Is there a way to still obtain long HEALTHY relaxed hair WITHOUT the fake hair????
Hi @hairlicious! Ur hair is so amazing and you give me hope for growing long, thick and healthy hair. (i have almost the same 4c relaxed hair and low porosity). I want to ask you what you think about rice water?
Love this post, I do all these but at the end of the day I think that genetics is number one. Someone close to me pays close to little attention to her hair and don’t particularly follow any tips or proper hair care as mentioned here and her hair grows soo fast and it is very long. My hair length is bra strap and hers is close to her waist and as I said genetics is the difference between someone with longer faster growing hair no matter how much care or products are used.
Totally awesome I especially like the part about drying your hair with a t-shirt me myself I use a nylon what polyester dish towel thanks for sharing continual blessings
I notice that you don’t wrap your hair at night. I remember a old video you did on moisturizing & sealing you did not wrap then either. So would you say that wrapping is not necessary for healthy long hair?
She didn't wrap her hair around her head. That definitely is not necessary for healthy long hair. But she wraps her hair in that she puts a scarf and a satin bonnet on.
Thank you for these amazing tips! I am going to relax my virgin hair within a few days but i havent had a trim in at least 2 years , so i would like to know should i trim 'before the relaxer' or 'after the relaxer is applied ' ?. Thank you
Thanks for the video. I am always on cornrows. How do i carry out the daily hair routine like moisturizing and sealing, and also deep conditioning... My hair is at shoulder length and i really want to grow it longer...
Love this video. I noticed that my hair seems to feel rough and not soft anymore...I don't know if its breakage or split ends. All I know is that I don't use any heat on my hair, I understand your not an expert but I would like to know what would you recommend. By the way I'm a new subscriber.
Halima Halima thanks for subscribing💕 I would first start with using a clarifying shampoo. This will remove any dirt and product build up on the hair. Lather once. Then use a sulfate free shampoo to restore softness back into your hair. Follow up with a moisturizing deep conditioner for 30mins(with heat) to 1 hour(without heat). You should notice a difference. Repeat the sulfate free shampoo wash and deep condition weekly until you see an improvement in the texture and softness of your hair. Be sure to moisturize and seal daily or a few times a week.
Thank you for watching! Some good ones are Scurl no Drip, Mielle organics avocado hair milk, elasta qp mango butter, creme of nature buttermilk hair milk etc.
Awesome tips I've followed you for a long time and took lots of your advise and got great results with my hair especially minimizing heat. I never tried wigs, but definitely something I'll try to step out of my comfort zone and do..tfs beauty👍🏼😘😍💖.
Hi Sunshyne, Thank you for all the videos and tips. I have been following your routine and have seen some growth since December. My question is should I just steam on wash day as my hair isn’t ready to co-wash I’m going through a bad shedding phase? Thanks for your reply in advance
Yes, steam on wash day. Shedding should decrease the more consistent you are with your regimen. Using coconut oil or garlic oil helps decrease shedding as well.

@@HairliciousInc Thank You I will check out that video.
Same! This is why people put off trims.
@@lorielolar.8858 Truth 💯👍🏾

Appreciate your advice! You are an excellent spokesperson! Very knowledgeable and informative!
Thank you, Linda🥰🙏🏾
❤❤ thank you for all the help! I'm a hairstylist and some of this information I was unaware of 😊
Wow!! That’s awesome. Glad I could help🫶🏾
I gotta start deep conditioning my hair..
My hair is shoulder length.. im working on mid back length by November.
how’s it going?
@@kleshamiddleton1 it's a slow process. I'm bout to cut it all off so I can get the results I'm looking for.. thanks for asking... I'll definitely keep y'all posted 😜
Very helpful. Basically just slow down and pay more attention to my hair. Thanks
Very valuable tips! Thank you 😊
Thank you so much😍 and for watching.
These are great tips and your hair is proof that they work. Thanks for sharing.
REACTIVE trims..love the way you just make up hair terms lol...your hair is so healthy.
Thank you so much. Lol. It’s the best way/term I can use to describe it ☺️
I like your post because you DON’T have the standard curly hair that we see promoting long hair. You have regular kinky hair like me. I am not a typical follower on RUclips but I follow you constantly. Any advice on someone who works outs 4-5 days a week and sweats profusely????
I will forever be a fan! Hairlista helped me get from mbl to wl. I’ve learned so much from you.
Hello! Can you please do a video on top conditioners that has the best slip? Thanks ❤️
Hmmm sounds like fun!!
Oh yes, please
I love ors hair masque...its like butter
I've been following you for your years!!! Still finding your information refreshing. Thank you.
Great video! I am very new to your channel, went to the hair store this morning and picked up a few products. I was reading the ingredients like it was good! I hope to see results! Thank you!
OMG it's Sunshyne!!!!!

Thank you so much for your help. Currently have very damaged relaxed hair, but I'm excited to get it healthy!
paperpirate that’s awesome! Healthy relaxed hair is possible.
I went back to relaxing 6 weeks ago! My mornings are now filled with ease...
Enjoy your hair hun💕
I’m starting this regimen now and hoping for good results for my birthday 4/12
Awesome!! Happy hair journey to you!!
Love deep conditioning with heat so lovely 😊
Couldn’t agree more!!
AMAZING KEYAH I like hair stream steaming also...👍
Be Careful with heat with ironing and flatting it too so much it will damage hair
Thank you so much for sharing your experience atleast now I found someone with a relaxed hair. I am gonna try t-shirt drying I am definitely stopping using a towel
I’ve always wanted long hair but my hair has never gone past shoulder length it’s so annoying I have spent so much money on shampoos and deep conditioners yet it won’t grow..however I haven’t had a hair trim in 5 years so I’ll try that and protective hairstyles.. thank you so much for these tips! ❤️
Thank you for the refresher, I need a kick start back into my hair care and this video helped
I truly thank you for your knowledge in educating us about our hair👍🏽❤️
I relaxed my hair after 10 years. You really helped me with reading product ingredients. And after 2 weeks relax, I deep conditioned my hair that had both moisturizing and protein benefits. When I say it brought so much fullness and moisture to my hair. Thank you for all the support 🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿
Wow!! Super happy to hear this and that my videos have been helpful💕 Keep going sis!!
Which products do you use for your deep conditioning please?
Relaxed hair care is similar to natural hair care ✨
Thanks for this! Just subbed. Always useful to learn more about retaining length. Its the major key with growing hair
. I as a High porosity stopped using heat dryer in my DC, just cap and body heat, cos I don't want to further heat-damage my already lifted cuticles.
Also I now wonder if trimming is cos of SSK and DSK ? I now dust ' them off and stopped trimming. So enjoying longer lenght. But what causes split ends? And how do I know if I have them? You may still have a Point with trimming after all?
. Thanks for this so useful! Lots packed in! Much appreciated!
I like that you are just speaking like you are having a conversation as suppose to doing sillu stuff like some
Great tips! Also.. what happened to Hairlista? Is it gone forever?
I googled it seems like it is gone forever.
Thank you for sharing this post even though it's been 2years ago. I subscribed to your channel. I love your channel already you explain in detail on hair growth. The do and don'ts.
Awww welcome, hun💕 I appreciate the love.
I’m a natural and I love your hair!!
Are there any products that you would recommend for moisture? Or any shampoos/conditioners?
Great tips by the way ❤️
Great video!! Lots of easy but effective tips, can’t wait to try xx
I am so glad I found you...you saved my hair with this info....Thank you
Hi @hairlicious! Ur hair is so amazing and you give me hope for growing long, thick and healthy hair. (i have almost the same 4c relaxed hair and low porosity).
I want to ask you what you think about rice water?
Luv ur spirit! Very informational. But I was waiting on the types of moisturizing products you would recommend.
Thankfully information. My end are so brittle, now I know why my hair sticks me on my back. Moisture is the key.
Sooo glad I found your channel. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Thank you!
Thank you for the support 💕
This Was Extremely Helpful! I Need To Start Deep Conditioning Again! You Brought Up Some Great Points.
Thank you for the love. Yes, deep conditioning is vital!!
Congrats on your progress 👍😎
Thank you 🙏🏾
Thanks great video!Amen ur right! BLACK Folks hair is EXTREMELY FRAGILE!
Totally awesome I especially like the part about drying your hair with a t-shirt me myself I use a nylon what polyester dish towel thanks for sharing continual blessings
Thanks for the info I really appreciate it n will follow these much needed help steps thanks gorgeous 🥰
So lovely... u give me so much hope cuz honestly i neva tot it wld eva be possible to grow my hair so thank u
Thank you for these amazing tips! I am going to relax my virgin hair within a few days but i havent had a trim in at least 2 years , so i would like to know should i trim 'before the relaxer' or 'after the relaxer is applied ' ?.
Thank you
I would say, after the relaxer is applied.
Thanks for the video. I am always on cornrows. How do i carry out the daily hair routine like moisturizing and sealing, and also deep conditioning...
My hair is at shoulder length and i really want to grow it longer...
May I ask how often do you trim? And also do you clarify, or do you use only sulfate free shampoos? Thanks
Thanks for these tips hun. Love ur hair as always 💖
Aww thanks girlie 💕
Great tips ❤️❤️☺️
Thank you for watching!!
Hi, thanks for the tips, i have fine hair, and I've heard that air drying hair after washing actually contributes to breakages. Is it true?
Excellent tips!!!!
Love the video. Can u tell me how often do u relax your hair. Let me know. Thanks!
Thank you for watching. I relax every 10-12 weeks.
Hello, which products do you recommend to add moisture to dry hair, that doesn't weigh it down? I mainly need help with my ends.
Thanks for the video! Please recommend some good moisturizers ?
Thank you for watching! Some good ones are Scurl no Drip, Mielle organics avocado hair milk, elasta qp mango butter, creme of nature buttermilk hair milk etc.
Awesome tips I've followed you for a long time and took lots of your advise and got great results with my hair especially minimizing heat. I never tried wigs, but definitely something I'll try to step out of my comfort zone and do..tfs beauty👍🏼😘😍💖.
Awww thank you for watching. So happy to hear that my tips have helped you.
Hi! Your tips have helped me. Do you leave your buns overnight?
Hi Sunshyne, Thank you for all the videos and tips. I have been following your routine and have seen some growth since December. My question is should I just steam on wash day as my hair isn’t ready to co-wash I’m going through a bad shedding phase? Thanks for your reply in advance
Yes, steam on wash day. Shedding should decrease the more consistent you are with your regimen. Using coconut oil or garlic oil helps decrease shedding as well.
I relaxed after the big chop and growing my hair out. Was too much work with small kids.
But im glad to hear that i am doing well by my hair. Love ur lengtht.
I go weekly to my hairdresser for washing and conditioning and pincurl to upkeep my curls throughout the week instead of heat.
Great tips.
Thank you💕
