I have to give that CEO respect for letting his salesperson, the one who experiences the customers every single day, explain what’s going on while standing by for specific questions. That’s the mark of a leader, and that saleswoman really knows her stuff. That’s the mark of a great company and working relationship within that company. They’ll be around for a long, long time.
Jean Rousseau is actually a pretty incredible find. The impact a new watch strap can have on a watch is profound. And we didn’t even scratch the surface on all of the other incredible bespoke accessories they can make.
Couldn't agree more! It’s incredible how much a watch strap can change a watch. And the quick release makes it so easy to switch them out that it can be done in seconds.
Do agree. I have one timepiece and 5 straps. Each colour brings a different vibe to the watch. And the changeable straps make you more audacious, because you can dare to be bold for the day without having to commit to it forever.
One thing worth mentioning for people with small wrists is that they do straps however short you need them. I have ridiculously small wrists and they made me some amazing straps and they pay attention to the piece of leather so that the alligator pattern was also small enough to fit the strap
I used to think paying over $30 for a watch strap was nuts. So you can only imagine what I thought about Jean Rousseau straps reaching that $200 mark. Thats until I was gifted one from Theo & Harris and it blew my mind. That was my first encounter with a premium leather good and from that, I became obsessed fine leather craftsmanship.
This is why I enjoy your videos so much Kirby. There is nowhere else that I can find such a depth of information. I would have never known about bespoke watch straps. Thank you for the continued introductions.
No, try taking a shot every time he says “bespoke”. I’ve gone through ALL his videos and counted the number of times Kirby used the word bespoke. The number is 997,893 times. I have been in AAA now for one year.
@@kirbyallison She really was not relenting at all. It was a pleasure to watch her because it was clear she loved and was passionate about the business.
Audrey says ‘discreeet luxury’ in French accent…. and Kirby is sold. Blue. Sure. Suede finish. Sure. He came in for a black strap and walked out with a red, a blue and a green in stingray, sueded alligator and baby impala.
I just went through the custom process with Jean Rousseau in Manhattan. My second strap from them, without the lovely lady helping you! They really do great work and your strap is going to be beautiful. The last strap I ordered I just had them mail to me, but this time I have a trip to NYC about the time it should be ready and they’ll be able to custom fit the holes in the strap. Not truly bespoke, but high quality MTO.
I visited last Friday JR at the Piccadilly Arcade to order a custom-made strap for my wife's vintage Cartier Santos. Great customer experience and beautiful selection of leathers ❤. JMB
Mr. Allison thanks for taking your subscribers on another truly fantastic journey into the world of men's style and accessories definitely informative and knowledgeable gaining insight!
What a perfect time to release this video, I’ve just got a new watch and have been looking for different (high end) strap ideas. These look amazing. Will take a look at this place in person ☺️
I don't know how you do it. I could not care less about this subject. However, your passion and enthusiasm makes it interesting and even though I would never buy such a thing I feel like I'm learning something while I enjoy your content! Thank You Kirby!!!!
I’m here thinking about my own double standards, lack of morality or hypocrisy. I enjoy these videos (some more than others but that’s personal taste) and how they give insights into my own city which I only had glimpses of whilst I was working. I did use Jermyn Street but I never had bespoke suits or these watch straps. So, I enjoy and even take pride in these videos showing London. And yet, not a few miles away from Jermyn Street, there are areas of great deprivation; places where decent people are struggling to feed their children; failing to find safe accommodation; unable to live a life of dignity. My wife is a director on of the big charities trying to help some of these people with refuges, with safety nets and so I cannot say that we do not know about the suffering. And yet, and yet, we could do more; we could forgive that bottle of wine and give the money to the charity; we could without that new pair of shoes and give the money to charity. None of this is a comment on Kirby, on any viewer except me. I wonder at my ability to enjoy these videos whilst knowing the unfairness of human life.
Don’t get me wrong, these watch straps are actually beautiful and if you have the money go for it. I myself have bought some however if people are looking the Asian countries are doing some fine work there’s some individuals in Indonesia and Vietnam that are also making as equally good straps with top notch leather check out people like clq straps etc
No question. Great craftsmanship everywhere. The challenge, as always, is finding these small independents to work with. Benefits of Jean Rousseau are the the multiple Boutiques and the fact you can even order bespoke straps on their website.
Hmm this video felt different than most. I felt that familiar anxiety in negotiating with a salesperson over budget, scope, and options that felt like the real world of purchasing anything complex. Or even in negotiating with the craftsman himself over slipping schedules in the one all-inclusive bespoke project of my life so far (a gorgeous pair of shoes). And all for one of the lower-dollar luxuries featured on this channel. I wonder what was different about the day this was filmed? Or maybe it was different because this was a "watch thing?" I've noticed that guys tend to be either watch guys or clothes guys when it comes to self-adornment and start to flinch when it comes to a splurge on the other thing. Reflecting on this, I wonder how much of the fun of watching this channel is stepping into a fun make-believe world where cost is no object and the providers work in your unqualified best interest.
I may have missed it but i did not hear any reference to deployant clasps. It looked like most of the straps had a pin buckle closure which within the first couple of weeks of wear makes a nasty crease in the leather which you can see when you take off your watch and place it on a flat surface. Kirby, did you specify a deployant clasp for your new Jean Rousseau straps?
Kirby what a great video I've never heard of this watch strap brand before I will have to check them out. But I do have to say this Audrey is beautiful I mean Hollywood Actress material if I was in there with my wife I couldn't have had kept my eyes off of her I don't know how you did it. Wow ..
Great video Kirby! Having just gone through the process of ordering my first couple pairs of MTO shoes, I was wondering if the same could be done for watch straps. As a Londoner, I’ll definitely be paying a visit now that I’ve seen this.
Dear Kirby.. I will be visiting London in April and intend to commission a watch strap from JR. I love the crococodike suede you chose. How much did it cost?
I think this amazing green can be worn with anything dark: black, navy, dark brown. I don't think it's such a great idea to have every accessory matched. It looks like your taste has gone on holiday, promised to return but didn't go through with it. There is such thing as too perfect when comes to style.
There’s a long line of married men out there who have to explain to their wives why they keep buying Watch straps, wallets and belts from Jean Rousseau!

I was surprised to learn just how expansive the business is! I never knew that they had their own tanneries as well!
Despite being a life long Londoner myself, Kirby knows more about the local luxury bespoke market than me. It's always a joy watching these videos.

No it’s not, tbh.

Which watch was this for Kirby?... And may I ask, how much did this strap cost you?

Small price to pay when you think about it. Watches easily cost tens of thousand of dollars.
The kirbster does it again! Excellent little vid!
Thanks again!

What a choice, this deep green is just amazing! And the material, needless to say is gorgeous. So elegant, unique and not too conspicuous.
Just wait!!!! It was AMAZING!

Yes! They have ateliers in both London, New York, Paris, Japan…
The way Kirby talks and looks 😂😂😂 so much effort to appear elegant. It doesn’t feel natural at all

If she said “discreet luxury” to me in that sexy french accent and angelic smile, i’d be sold as well. Hahaa
I went with a green/grey shade personally, glad she managed to talk you into that colour!
Can't wait to see the finished strap and how the gold stitching contrasts with the green yet enhances the gold watch itself. Incredible choice Kirby.
