    As a leather worker who has made a few watch straps (mostly for myself recently) it was pretty interesting to see that they used a sewing machine to place the holes for hand stitching. Pretty clever and clean as doing that in such thin leather can be problematic with a pronged punch .

      What's amazing is how many personalities you can give a watch just by swapping out the watch strap! It literally increases the versatility of a watch 5x! And for women (using my wife as an example), it is even better! One watch can have 10 watch straps!

    • @kirbyallison
      @kirbyallison  9 месяцев назад +2

      They have an extensive selection of already-made straps that are much less expensive. Between the sueded crocodile and the gold thread, this was by no means an ordinary watch strap, and it's priced accordingly. But, yes, all of my other watch straps from Jean Rousseau are much more reasonable.

    the lining is NOT stitched to the strap??

    • @kirbyallison
      @kirbyallison  9 месяцев назад +1

      The reason that they did this is because the gold thread is quite rough (it's metal) and would aggravate the skin if sewn through the lining. On my other Jean Rousseau watch straps, the stitching goes through the lining.

    This is NOT a Quality strap, this is a 'cut edge strap, the cheapest and easiest way to make a strap.
    A Rembordé is a quality strap and shows craftmanship and skill.
    Extremely disappointing that Kirby does not know this and would even consider advertising such trash.

    • @kirbyallison

      Criticism seems to be a bit out of line. The Rembordé edging technique is very nice; I couldn't imagine Jean Rousseau not being able to employ this technique should it be requested by the client. It wasn't something we discussed. But I'll certainly ask about it the next time I visit the boutique! Thanks for sharing!
