By mid January 1991 I was 16 and my family moved to Detroit,
the local music channels were ruled by More Than Words, Wicked Game and Easy Come Easy Go
and I recall a 10 second video running in commercial breaks
showing a band live on stage with the drummer going up, 360 degrees forward and back down,
not sure if it was this video, but I find no other possible match

When this happened to me,I needed good music to help wake me,this is my true life story. Thanks Motley Crue, you saved my life, well, almost.Top of Form 1
    Bottom of Form 1
Early 1987,Racing 'AGrade 125's at the Laidley race track in Queensland,Australia.I took a big fall,so big my sub frame was broken, rear mudguard broken off,ect...
Many bikes landed on my helmet from a fast jump. There I lay in the dust, blood all over my face from big cuts, scratches on my face..I am out cold and no one can wake me.The Ambulance arrives and takes me straight to Laidley Hospital, they say I am almost dead, with massive Head Injuries. Without waiting I am rushed to Toowoomba Hospital,I am pronounched dead on the way and I am brought back to life. Once in Toowoomba Hospital,Doctors tell my parents I have bleeding on my brain and swelling. After a week in Toowoomba,Doctors say I do not have any chance of survival,I am rushed to the Royal Brisbane Hospital for better treatment.
My parents meet a Dr.Mary,a wonderful Gentleman for sure, along with all the Medical staff at the Royal Brisbane Hospital..He told my parents he might have a way to help save my life ! After being in my Come for a few weeks,I suffer from Golden Staph,a hospital bug that sunlight is the best treatment for.In my condition I could not be placed in sunlight as yet.Kidney failure,Double pneumonia,Heart failure three times. Doctors tell my parents my life support would be turned off as I was Brain Dead and on life support for Three Months.
.Doctors drilled my skull open and fitted a preasure guage. When the preasure from my brain swelling went to high, all the bells and lights would go off and I would need more medication to reduce the swelling around my brain. This worked well and after much talk with Doctors and other medical staff,I was left turned on.Every day without fail,my parents would take the Train and Bus trip to the hospital. Not knowing if I had died over night or not.Living in Toowoomba left my parents far from home and friends.Staying in a friends unit, many miles from the Hospital.Day after long day they did this to some how support me.Could I hear their voices as they spoke to me?Did I hear the music beside my bed,my favorite songs ?? This went on day after day, night into night. Then one day(after three and a half months in a coma),my eyes opened and closed again,Then my eyes opened again and people said,Look, look, his eyes are open, then I would pass out again.A few days later my eyes opened and I looked up to my father and he just said to me in a faint voice,"It did happen, you were taken out big, really big".We often talked of this day when a fall would end it all .. With this everyone broke out in tears,my parents taking support from many friends and family. After reaching for the tubes going into my throat, nurse's stopped me and told me not to touch. After being in a Coma for so long I did not understand anything.I was going to have to learn to read, write, eat and drink all over again.I could not talk,my throat so sore after having a Trackie in there for Three and a half months.Once my recovery started it was clear I did not remember anyone or anything.Oh ,this is hell when you wake up and don't know anyone, not even my own parents...People say.My brain was injuried on the
right hand side,so once I started to move,I was told that my LeftHand side was totally parayzed,No feeling in my left ear, neck, arm, leg or foot ! Oh no,will I ever recover ??Hopefully after intense work in rehab I might get usage of my left side back, but don't hold your breath.OMG,I am confined to a wheel chair for some time while I continue to recover. My parents are so upset with this news
and they start to make plans to change oue home to suit a wheelchair..OMG - this is so,so difficult. After being a fit, active teenager I am now in a wheel chair without any memory and being in another world as I do not remember anyone as yet.
Without a future to look forward to.I was moved to the Princess Alexandra Hospital to continue with my intense rehab. This was proving to be total Hell for my parents and I.Away from home and our many wonderful neighbours and friends. So alone, yet so strong together.Doing my best in walking rails and pools to walk again. Then throw a ball.I am so,so weak and my emotions smashed,I break into tears often.I am told I can do this,I will do this.Everything that was so easy once is now a big ask of myself..This must be so difficult for my parents to endure.Seeing their one son so,so ill. After months of work with hospital staff and family,I slowly started to make a recovery. At long last I am out of my wheelchair,my feeling back to my left side.I continue to push myself, knowing one day I will return to home.Home, where is that I ask my parents, they ask me if I remember anything from when I was a young boy.Only at the moment I don't.My parents would break into tears.
I want to go home so badly now.Knowing my recovery could continue at home,my parents asked the hospital to consider my release.(almost like a lifetime jail sentence)After much more rehab my parayzed side is back to life,I can feel things,I can hear, yes, yes, yes,I can use my arm,my leg,my foot !
OMG - today I walk with my father holding my arm,to the carpark,we are making ready to return home,OMG.This was the start of my returning home, once home my parents had so much work in front of them to help complete my rehab.Seeing doctors often, teaching me everything again that I once knew.I was unlucky to be injuried, while lucky I did not need any further medication for my brain injuries ! Most people who suffer massive brain injuries remain on high medication for life.
I can never thank my parents enough. From day one of my accident, they remained strong.Months later after going through hell and back every day, they continue to remain strong for myself.Super Parents does not even come close.
Today I am lucky to have no effects from my injuries and my Brain and Body continues to work well.My words will never express the Hell my family and I went through.Alive one minute, next minute ? ? Some people say they know how difficult this was for us.No,no,never will anyone understand just how difficult and nerve smashing this event was for us..Injuries like this gives one a new outlook on life.
