Book your Food Tour with Angkor Street Eats → angkorstreeteats.com/ While in Siem Reap I went on an epic food tour with Angkor Street Eats, led by local guide, Kun. Throughout the duration of the evening I tried dozens of new foods and drinks that completely exceeded my expectations. The tour provides a bevy of unique, authentically khmer dishes as well as a few adventure eating courses that will really test your palette. These are foods and places that you will not find on your own near any tourist areas. Beyond the amazing food, my guide Kun, was a beacon of knowledge. Since he grew up in Siem Reap, he is literally a part of its history. He told stories about conflicts within the country, the ways Siem Reap has changed over the years and of course, all about the food. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone going to Siem Reap. You will not find an experience like this anywhere else.
I was born and raised in Long Beach, CA and I was surrounded by Cambodians. My best friends and uncles and now my cousins are all Cambodian and introduced me to Cambodian food and I love it all! One of my favorite foods and yet it is so slept on. Cambodian culture in general is slept on! My family and the families of my friends are very weary to speak about the Khmer Rouge and I don’t blame them. They suffered a lot but I see them beginning to come back!
I agree with what he said at 0:42. Because of the war, Cambodian tradition with food, music, etc has been lost! It's so sad but we're slowing making a comeback.
And yet people still want to try socialism because they are told "that wasn't real communism/socialism/marxism" and that "real" communism is a paradise of plenty. Better dead than red is still the best policy.
I’m foreigner from Czech Republic, living in Cambodia 3 years and I love to watch these videos and to just see how Khmer people are awesome, happy, laughing ❤️❤️❤️❤️🇰🇭🇰🇭
Kudo's to the camera man!!!!! I wish this was a 30 min or 1 hour show on Netflix or the Food Network. Much better than the "other" travelling food shows!!!
The quality of your production from video to audio is top notch man. I was thinking you should make longer format videos and you come out with this. You read my mind. Dope.
I’m Cambodian American, disclaimer not all of us eat bugs, frogs, or drink raw egg with beer. It just depends what region each citizen was born and raised in. My parents were born in the city. One was wealthy tho other not. One eats prahok the other mostly fried fish. I myself have never eaten the buggy snacks when visiting. You should have tried the Somlar Kreung. Lemon Grass Soup w/ beef or chicken. Or Cha Kreung. Stir fry. We have so many amazing options in our cuisine, that aren’t so “exotic” but the flavors are BOMB. Thank you for visiting and making a mini series on Srok Khmer. I hope you find your way back.
The Pol Pot regime killed off anyone who could read and write. I know several survivors of the Khmer Rouge Holocaust who told me and my family all the horrific things that happened to them. God bless the Cambodian people.. i spent 2 glorious years there and they are such loving genuine people. Kindness goes a long way there and the food is AWESOME!!!!!! I miss my Nom Pang delivered to me each morning!
@@youlovesrey My father told me that there was a news article about Cambodia saying that they were the next idk Luxembourg or Switzerland or something.

Not going to lie. But when I first seen your channel 5 years ago. I was like who is this over confident food reviewer. But you got me hook on your style. Your energy and style is one of the original in RUclips. Your my top 3 food reviewer. Keep up the amazing work.
i'm starting to like this show and this guy. he's full of humour but still respecting the culture of countries he's been to. amazing show, amazing work. i'm a fan. subscribed.
An interesting tutorial on Cambodia while enjoying good eats. Very encouraging to hear that the people of Cambodia are finally regaining their former way of life. Thanks.
I love your food guide, he's funny, wise and honest . Your channel is the best out there, it's endearing and charming and funny. Your going to reach 1 million sibscribers in a year 👍🏼❤️😍👏🏻
Absolutely love you Sonny! Hopefully I can meet you when I go on my Asian food adventures. Mad respect for this Cambodian tour guide but he was so uptight about showing Cambodia in a good light he wasn't fun at all.
1:54 that's sticky (glutinous) rice cake. We always have that kind of cake when it comes to lunar new year in Vietnam. it's like something indispensable on this occasion. the filling could be bean with pork but I know southern people also use salted duck eggs to make it. my family make the cake with no filling though since some are vegetarians, we just mix the sticky rice with boiled groundnuts. still tastes good!
hmmm...I might find Kun when I go to Cambodia. And Sonny, good luck on your health by eating all those kind of food. Nice watching the video while you eat the frog etc. Cheers! I love the guts ;)
Hot damn man, making me wish I had done more SEA travelling while I was in Korea! Another one out of the park my friend. I particularly liked the look you shot at your camera operator when the Amok was about to be unwrapped. It was like "Your getting this, right?" lol!!!
2:32 that rice cake thing is something Lao ppl eat too, we have a lot of the same foods. It starts out as a big roll of rice n I think coconut milk in a banana leaf filled with mung bean and fatty pork. You can slice and eat as is or deep fry like they did here. I’ve pan fried it but never deep fried it, yet. Go to Laos sunny you’re literally next door or to a Lao American neighborhood.
Amokk fish is like the korean one? Is it the same name? Just happy with Sonny because he introduced us with some culture that still in develope. Really nice to see others country food culture...
Ayy Khmer gang 🤙🏼 tbhh I feel like when it comes to people exploring new countries and there foods Cambodia is like the least explored I hardly see any RUclipsrs explore Cambodia and there culture and there food
I love your videos! Especially the Cambodian ones because I'm Cambodian lol where will you be in July? We are travelling there and we should totally grab a beer and you can show us some great places to eat! 😄
Your show gives me the same feeling as when watching any other food travel show hosted by the best. MB. Thank you for the fun show and excellent feeling
Another great video mate! I'll surely contact Angkor Street Eats if I visit Siem Reap. The more I watch your videos the more I get tempted to visit Vietnam, Indonesia and Cambodia. You're great.
He is basically saying that you don't know a place until you've been there and that your experience may be completely different from what others have said
We Asian are gifted with so many natural resources, we love planting, no matter how many times they destroyed our small country we will rise up and can still cook all kinds f foods....our food is the healthiest food cause we cook and we have all kinds of fruit bearing trees.
