I have been watching Mark Weins on RUclips for some 5 years and I must say this Cambodia 3-meal video is arguably the best so far. Maybe it's because Mark has taken something so unusual, so foreign (to an open western mind) and made it approachable, easy to understand and highly appetizing. Mark also has a keen sense of his surroundings, showing great respect to locals while engaging them to inject some very good natured humor. Few on TV (aside from maybe Luke Nguyen) are able to demonstrate this quality consistently like Mark. A true sign of an international star rising to great success.
I'm so happy you visited cambodia. I will be visiting the motherland next month and I can't wait to eat all the awesome food. I think Cambodian food is so underrated, it's one of the most delicious food in South east asia. Everybody needs to go try it.
Hi Mark. I am from the US and my parents really loved this video of yours. We are Cambodian and this video just brought them home. Everything that you ate for breakfast is meant to eat in small small portions that is why it is so salty and you eat it with the fresh vegetables. Can't wait for your other Khmer video's.
Mark Wiens you need to eat only small amount of prohok with more rice and more vergies it will tast better, once you know how to eat it right u will addicting to eat..it. the small fish with ginger that u eat with the rice...you need to add sugar..chicken soup artificial or powder to add more flavor to eat and eat small amount of that dish and more rice...
In Cambodia, I visited the city of Siem Reap only, but I NEVER complained about food ! I still do not know how, but the South-Eastern Asians KNOW what the good food IS. Mark, you seem to be a happy man, always a smile on your face. I love how you enjoy the food; just watching your face while eating and describing the food flavors....hmmm, there is rain in my mouth.
The sauce with the roasted fish, is actually crushed up baby tamarind mixed with salt and sugar! Btw mark, those fermented food like Prohok, and Mam (slight fermented small fish), u suppose to eat it in small little bite chasing with those veggies. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoy the food! Welcome to Cambodia.😁😁
Mark Wiens I'm glad you enjoy it. If you ever come again, you should go to some resort around the city for a super awesome food feast! Hope to see your present again in Cambodia soon! 😁😁
I have been away from Asia and I do appreciate the videos that shows friendly and hardworking people of Asia and other countries as well. The people shown in the video are the backbone of any nation needed to get to the future.
Its very refreshing to see food bloggers as daring as you Mark. I mean Andrew Zimmern is definitely the guy who started it all but he's pretty much going for all the hardcore bizarre foods. You on the other hand showcase simple dishes that usually don''t get the limelight it solely deserves. I never really thought to myself as a food blogger but seeing your videos makes me want to start chomping in front of a camera as well.
Oh my goodness, Langeach Sros is my uncle's place ! Am so glad you were able to enjoy the food Mark ! I really wish I was there to meet you . I am your biggest fan 😭
Mark, that green sauce is crush green tamarin. It goes well with grill fish. I agree, banana leave grill Prahok is definitely one of my favorite Khmer foods. My mouth is watering watching you eat it.
Hi mark my name is sandy . I love your show and your family. I was born in Cambodia. But raise here in the Us since I was 4. I love what your doing. I love watching your show. Keep it up. Your rock. My dream is to travel like you. Cause i love cooking and food .
Mark, Prahok and all types of Cambodian sauces should be eaten with small bite with rice and other veggies. So they won't be too salty. Anyway, thanks for your review on our street food! 😁
Mark you are an amazing person. Thank you for sharing you're adventures and endeavors. For those of us unable to travel or cannot afford to like myself, I feel as though I visited this world through your eyes and experiences by watching your videos. Continue your journey, you and your family stay healthy and safe. One day I'll do a Southeast Asia tour consisting of Cambodia my motherland, Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam.
My mom use to make that a lot growing up it's the egg with pork and parhok but when you have it fresh when it's first made it soooo good with fresh vegetables but my mom also made all of those dishes miss her so much!!!!
Taking my first international trip this December! I have always loved your videos, so I knew I had to review your Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam videos. I wasn't interested in traveling before, but now I really want to TRAVEL FOR FOOD, thank you, as always, for the inspiration!!
84 cents for breakfast?! When I retire in America, I moving to where the living is cheaper and the food is great. Show us how to make that pork meat breakfast Mark....or Ying.....wanna make and eat it. (purty please with sugar on top)💙
i don't subscribe to anything very often but after watching your videos for years and always enjoying them i decided to finally push that button. thank you and your family for teaching me so much. okie matt
I was in Sihanoukville in 2017, I order that pork dish but luckily I had the last one...cus they run out of food cus if there's no tourist they can't buy more food... well out of that dish but I love Cambodia, can't wait to go back
Hey Mark......Thanks for all the hard yards you are putting in ! My wife and i miss Siem Reap and Phnom Penh so much.... Such beautiful folks and the food...... ...!!!! Coming back as soon. as we can. Keep healthy man and never stop ! Much love to you and your gorgeous family from Joffa and Isobel. Melbourne Australia.
These dishes especially the breakfast and dinner ones are mouthwatering! I must try them out when I go and visit Cambodia for another time. If you still like the Cambodian cuisine, try and go to siem reap in the future not only to go and see the Angkor wat but also to try out the banana flower salad beside the iconic ruins.
I'm from Texas, and your are one of my favorite foods blog on the net. The foods looked awesome...don't forget to try the fame Chinese streamed buns- Khmer language call "Num Pov" at the corner of Oressey Market. I was there with my wife last July.
Hi mark!!! You should do a video on your other channels answering some questions we post on your vidoes please!!! My question would be have you ever gotten food poisoning or sick off of eating street food?
larisa garcia, just a bit of sarcasm from me😁. If you are from first a world country, be very selective of street food in Cambodia as your stomach may not be ready for it. That said, they have many first class restaurants.
Hi Mark, the green paste that you had with grill fish is young tamarins pounded with salt and some people also added garlic into it as well. I'm hope you and your family had a good time in Cambodia.
Pizza Slut I know right -- usually those are the people who only see food as sustenance. I know it's a luxury to appreciate food otherwise, but when we are lucky enough to be able to, it's one we should celebrate and cherish as one of the greatest parts of life.
Hey Mark , great video as usual. A suggestion for your videos, would be great if you could have a preset budget like 15 - 20 $ and what can be done in the city (any city infact) for a day, perhaps it could be featured in one of your new Vlogs. Keeping the budget title could also be a way to bring in more viewers to your channel and videos.
Thank you so much Mark for showing us all around the world with wonderful own country food I like every of your video thank you again for showing us God bless you and your family too long live Mark Family and your friend who is going along with you.
I'm amazed at the cost of food there. That first meal with the pork and rice looks amazing... for only 84 cents?! You could get that at some rundown, dirty shop in the middle of town here (usa) and pay over $6 for that! 84 cents is basically a small pack of M&Ms, lol.
every time this guy eats something he tilts to the left...the tastier the food the far the distance....and after that ant or wtf was that I couldn't see him, legit jhon cena
the prahok (fermented fish) was created to preserve the fish caught during the swell of the Tonle Sap, the monsoon cycles would bring all of the water into the lake then just as fast, suck all the water back out and khmers needed to find ways to make their food last until the next monsoon cycle.
Great video as always! Just sharing, the green mixing which you eat with the grilled snake head fish is young tamarind ground with garlic, ginger and spice. I love it, one of my favorite.
Pooja Patil... Yup. People just drive all over the place. Bikes, cars and cows all in one road and in all different directions. lol. When I visited Cambodia, I was do scared every time I took the tuk tum. But it was an experiences of a life time to have visited.
Thanks Mark. From sunrise to sunset, you showed every typical daily life of Cambodians along with daily foods and fancy dining experience at night. It rains and it floods. People just keep moving.
Dear Mark Really I appriciate your good job in all the visited countries.Thank you I am an Iraqi from Baghdad and really like your videos God bless you

I have to agree with dennis. You're awesome!

So true. I was fearing for the worst when he took a serious big bite of it. Too salty and intense, needs more rice to fish ratio.
jennafox Super salty, yeah! I was like, yeah he's gonna need a big jug of water after that bite! 😂
good tips, i keep that in mind when am there soon.
Awesome, thank you very much for the details, it was an amazing sauce, loved the meal!
Mark Wiens I'm glad you enjoy it. If you ever come again, you should go to some resort around the city for a super awesome food feast! Hope to see your present again in Cambodia soon! 😁😁

I think you can combine the fermented anchovies and the green paste... dip it with the grilled fish, top it to a spoonful of rice.
