I've just started lure fishing on my stand up paddleboard. It's a great way to get to areas where you can't from the bank and it's stealthy. I am not much of a fisherman, which is why I watch your videos for tips and information. If you want to give it a go off a paddleboard, give me a shout. When you catch a fish it makes for some fun 😃
For the life of me why do modern lure anglers insist on standing 12 inches from the edge of the water, maybe they like offering fish huge silhouettes to look at maybe this distracts the fish from the lure, who knows. Best tip I can give new lure angers is stand back only the last 12 inches of the rod tip needs to be over the water and lower you silhouette a little.
On well trodden canal paths I have seen many pike and other fish that don't spoke by our presence. So it's one area you can benefit from seeing what you are going to catch
Where I live it's riddled with them. Most of my zander have been caught right underneath my feet just slowly walking and bouncing the lure off the bottom.
I caught my first oxford canal Zed on a fox rage spikey shad . Caught it in the middle chanel with no features about just as the Sun was going down . Got the bug for it now and looking to catch a bigger that the 3 Llb one I landed.
Nice few tips on there bud nice 1. Tell you what we need some z's bringing up north, sick of the 1 1/2 hour drive to be within a descent chance of having a few "/
Haha no course I'm not lol would be nice to just pop down for a couple of hours catch a few zander go home job done may suggest relocation to the wife lol
jonny jones it takes a bit of practice, when starting out id definitely recommend a trace, if you are fishing with a treble hook fish a trace unless you are 100% sure there are no pike present. If you play a pike delicately on flourocarbon of 6lb+ you should be get it in
thanks for info" iv just order some of those thick hard wearing Regenerator traces that are thick mono of 20-25kg test but lot more soft than wire traces"
or you just a bit thicker fluorocarbon, a 0,40mm fluoro, is safe, i never lost a pike with this diameter. another advantage ist that this "thick" leader increases the "droptime" of the jig, so you can fish a bit slower. in my opinion this "thick" leader doesn`t decrease the number of bites.
top reply my friend" how long a thick fluoro leader you use? and do you put this onto thinner length of fluoro then onto your braid" or just onto your braid"
Fox rage makes some of my fav spinning stuff really cool
Nice few tips there, I’m still yet to go after zander but can’t wait.

Would be great! South of Cheswardine as well.
Great video top tips could you give a nod to location tips I’m up in Leicester arm of grand union canal cheers
FYI the bridge number is on the bridge in the video so it most likely Bridge 68, Galleon Bridge, Grand Union Canal
I struggle with the canals locally, always so weedy, makes it impossible to search the bottom

How come UK Zander looks like giant Ruffe, while on the continent out looks like giant Perch? I mean the skin pattern of course.
Zander is fighting :))) big zander maybe. Over 5 pounds. They are not fighting fish. Hard to catch and awkward in feeding pattern.
Great video, with the most annoying music I've ever heard, lol
good video that" how do you know if you should use wire trace or not"" most canal hold pike so do you get bitten off much"

Yeah if you are going to use a trace when targeting zander you're better off with a very fine subtle wire like the 5kg fox stuff or 6lb knot 2 kinky

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🙂
😂😂😭
Don't you realise you should NOT release zander and other non native species once you've caught them? Stop it!
Please don't return zander to the canal - it isn't legal, and for good reason.
