Had my largest perch of the year at 2lb 10oz on a creature bait, today! I was inspired by your video. unfortunately not an FR lure, my local tackle shop hasn't got them yet! 4" brown bait clear river Kennet, literally inched across the bottom. Might have to start using 4.5" or 5" creatures to beat it...
Another great video, I am in my 70s and have been a fly fisherman for all my fishing life, since the present situation with covid I have been looking for fishing venus close to home so I joined the local fishing association who have rivers, lakes and canals on my doorstep so I am getting into lure fishing and loving it and your videos are helping me to learn a new skill and fishing style. Thank you
Great video Sam, thanks for the tips. I remember you helping me at Farlows regarding pike fishing all your tips have been really helpful..thanks mate 👍
Great video. Just one question, can you fish the Texas style on normal jigs as well, that don't have the ridge on the back to mask the hook, like creature baits.
When using the texas rig, it can help pulling the hook eye inside the bait put one of the FR red glass beads and the sliding weight, tungsten is best but a brass weight is just as effective. The clacking noise of bead and weight can add extra attraction. If you're casting further, using a floatstop 2 inches above the weight will stop the weight flying too far up you line. Also, ever tried a Carolina rig?
Hi, I’m just getting in to this style of fishing. The hooks I’m finding most use seem really big, I’m guessing this is simply because of the creature baits size and needing a hook size to match? I’m fishing my local canal so far and biggest perch I’ve had is around 1 pound so nothing major, size 6 hook still okay for these? I’m hoping to catch bigger
I don't doubt that these work, but they are hardly realistic, do crayfish really move like that? no. a bit of multi coloured climbing rope a bit frayed with a treble in it would probably catch predators as well.
LMAO - You just watched a video of someone using creature baits and catching 4 species on a small river and you still have an issue with them. Now I have a new definition of an idiot. You tool.
Caught my first perch on a creature bait last Sunday, 2lb on the canal, I was well chuffed. Thanks for a great video, very informative.

This video should help with creature baits. ruclips.net/video/1X_3MDQsV2Q/видео.html
How does the cone weight stay put!!???
It doesn't, it's supposed to be free running on the line allowing the taking fish less resistance than a conventional jighead setup.
Does anyone know if creature baits which imitate crayfish work in waters where there are no crayfish?
grant1133 they will work but obviously not as well
Even better
What rod and reel are you using
He tells you at the end of the vid.
Are these New FR lures??
They are available in our Texas Critter Ready Rig kits, David
