      I think it is so awesome that everyone's FPV experience is so different! That is what makes this hobby great, all the little things that people do differently and how that impacts their whole journey. There aren't many things that can be so varied, but also bring a community together like FPV does and it always makes me smile a bit :)

    Dude love this detailed video. Been really thinking of getting into the hobby but didn’t wanna sell one of my kidneys. This kit looks great and perfect to dip my toes into the hobby without breaking the bank. I used to be into rc helicopters and it’s been ages since I’ve flown anything because it was really expensive and I needed to stop spending so much at that time. Now I have a pretty good career that pays really well so been looking into getting into the air again and was thinking fpv because seeing the videos online makes it feel like you’re flying through the air in a jet fighter and that got my hyped. And it would also help with checking stuff in higher places for work and making home cinematic videos (but that’s for later when I get more trained with this kit to help me get better first). Keep up the great work with the videos man, liked and subscribed from me. Can’t wait to get this kit.

      well there you go!!! There are some other kits down in this price range too, this one just has ELRS rather than FRsky so it can mayyyybe grow a little longer than the others. Not a half bad quad either considering my son hasn't totally demolished this one yet, and that boy has killed at least 10 drones in the past year, lol.

    If anyone wants a kit like this, but doesn't quite have 290 dollars, the Tinyhawk 2 kit is equally awesome, extremely similar, and only costs like 200-210. Also, to Bacon Ninja, I was sad that I didn't see you at Rampage! Would love to get that greasy signature on my v2 goggles.

Once my son can share that rampage experience with me, you better bet we are both making that super long drive! lol. Plus, by then he will totally be ripping harder than I ever could.

    I got this kit for christmas and after upgrading the video antennas on both goggles and drone, I immediately replaced the radio. The radio is even worse than you stated if you want to do simulators and run Linux. Because they didn't define the usb settings correctly, it does two fun things: it only shows 7 axes instead of the 8 it does in windows, and the missing one changes at random every time you plug it in. I found their code on github, and even though I've never messed with usb hid definitions before you could see the obvious copy/paste hack job they did in the code. I managed to get them to compile a test version of my fix that always reports the 8 axes which is buried in the comments on github, but it still randomly changes the order. I'm pretty sure I could fix that too but I had such a horrible experience working with their customer support over the issue where they kept demanding that I make a youtube video showing that their code was wrong so I just gave up on them and got a Jumper T-Lite V2.

      Everyone learns differently, and some people prefer just jumping in with a quad and taking the crashes....which can get super expensive, lol. At least with something like this it doesn't hurt so bad if it gets killed in a crash, and so far this one has taken all the abuse my 5 year old can throw at it without so much as a prop change, lol. Even my Tiny Hawk 2 made me change the props every week or so from getting chipped up in crashes, but I guess these big whopping ducts are doing their job!

    I kinda regretted buying the Cetus X. There are some reasons for this, to start off, I got the Cetus X ELRS, by itself, Jumper T-Lite controller and EV800D goggles, those two work perfectly. The drone has had multiple things break, the camera isnt very durable, the screws snap off every once in a while, camera is a stack so it overheats, and you cant buy just the VTX or camera if one breaks. And they don't really sell that camera stack. There were a few good things like durability, but the flight wasn't very good, in my opinion at least. It had lots of prop was, so not good for very much freestyle, it isn't meant for a camera so not very good at cinematic, and it could have been better. I feel like it falls just between good and bad, its an alright quad, but I think getting a controller and finding what type of flight you want, such as racing, get a meteor 65/75 or mobula 6/7/8 or something, cinematic get one of the countless 2.5-3.5 or even 5 inch quads out there. Currently I have my Cetus X taken apart as a test quad, designing a new frame (not the best so far), and I feel a more niched-in drone would perform way better for ones needs, or get like a Cetus Pro, I don't see the point in the Cetus X, everyone says its amazing and the best beginner quad, but being a beginner, I very quickly leveled up from it, and within 3 months I already had to upgrade.

  • @Sugalime3D_FPV
    @Sugalime3D_FPV Год назад +1

    I'm still using all the parts of it after 6 months. The radio is good (If BETAFPV provides the radio with ELRS updates which is still not the case for ELRS 3.0 but is supposed to come soon...), I don't think you can get much better with a high investment. I will still probably switch to a Radiomaster Boxer in the long term. But the LiteRadio can last a long time until you might want a little more functionality and a bit more professional handling. Even if you switch to 5 inch and a little smaller to digital, the goggles are still good for whoops usable, since digitalization on Tiny whoops probably will take longer... And the Cetus X can be easily converted to a Meteor85 or a Twiglet toohpick with carbon frame which are better for acrobatic tricks...

      @BaconNinjaFPV  Год назад +1

      I really appreciate this feedback! :) I suspected there were a few people out there making use of the kit for a while even though more premium components are available. I didn't see any reason why you couldn't keep using it for things until the money lines up for buying the nicer things. I also see a ton of people doing that conversion to the Cetus X after they start flying other quads!

      oh man, that isn't fun at all! I haven't had any issues with the one in my unit overheating, but then again I get to test such a small sample size when I try a product out that it is totally possible I never see an issue come up in some places. I did put a bunch of packs on mine over quite a few weeks and I did wind up leaving it powered up while I went to walk and pick it up quite a few times with no issues. Must be something with how the VTX is built onto the back of the camera board. I could see that making it a tad hotter than the typical whoop VTX install.

    • @BaconNinjaFPV
      @BaconNinjaFPV  8 месяцев назад

      hmmmm, there could be a lot going on there! On the Cetus X the camera is attached to the VTX so there won't be any cables running between the two causing issues, but one good thing to start with is do you get OSD in the goggles? If you do get OSD but a black screen other than that, there could be issues with cable feeding video out of the FC back into the VTX. If you get no OSD at all and everything is black, then it could be the camera, the vtx, or the wire feeding video into the FC which gets a bit more complicated.

    • @BaconNinjaFPV
      @BaconNinjaFPV  10 месяцев назад +1

      That is a great question! So...upgrading the whoop is mostly limited to motor swaps as the radio receiver is built onto the main board and the VTX is built onto the camera. As for the rest of the kit, you absolutely can throw a module in the back of the radio and upgrade to a newer version of ELRS (the internal is limited to only 2.X) or run a different protocol. It won't be a great forever radio, but you could get by with it for a while until you got something with better sticks. The goggles will work for a while as well, they are just kind of small but will work with any moder analog quad!

It is my first drone, maybe I configured something in BF incorrectly but I don't know what, although I use an elrs 500 preset from BF. betafpv elrs superD receiver, FC mamba h743, betafpv 1w module, radiomaster tx16s. Battery 4s. What can I do so that the motors do not accelerate only when I remove the acceleration in the control????

    • @BaconNinjaFPV
      @BaconNinjaFPV  Год назад

      there could be a few things going on with that one. First one would be a PID tune that is too hot for the filters you are running. If there is too much noise getting to the gyro it can cause an oscillation loop that presents itself like a throttle run away. Usually that would happen either immediately when you hit the throttle or at mid to high throttle though. It is more likely that you either have too much KV on the motors for the pack voltage and need to run a motor output limit, or that your motor idle speeds are too high and it is causing unexpected behavior at low throttle. I would either try setting your motor output limit to 90%, backing off of your dynamic idle (if you are using dynamic idle), or lowering your idle percent by about 15% to see if that helps.

    So, my Mobula7 HDZero 2-3S died and now I looking for drone to replace it with. Do you have any sugestions? It doesn't have to be a whoop but something easy to handle. :)

      I would honestly go for something like the Darwin baby ape! It is relatively cheap, has some upgrade paths, and will probably work with the batteries you already have for the mob 7!

      If you have a phone capable of using the speedy bee app and USB OTG capability on it, then I would still go betaflight for the flexibility in the future. If not though, the Cetus version is a solid option with just a little bit more limitation. The real down side to the Cetus version is that it comes with an FrSky control link in the radio rather than ELRS and that is much more limiting to the life span of your gear in my opinion since it isn't really considered a solid control link option for bigger quads anymore.

    how does it compare to the tinyhawk 3?

    • @BaconNinjaFPV
      @BaconNinjaFPV  Год назад +1

      the TH3 is a great little quad! One thing this kit does have a leg up with though is that the betaflight version of it is based around ExpressLRS rather than FrSky. Having that compatibility with other quads (even if it does mean a module to run newer versions) gives it a little longer lifespan if someone needed it to. I would love to see Emax put out an ELRS version of their starter kits to catch up on that part of the market!

    18:20 So... Doesn't that mean BetaFPV are violating the GPL here?

    • @BaconNinjaFPV
      @BaconNinjaFPV  10 месяцев назад +1

      Their radio firmware is closed source, but does include ELRS as an open source package....it is kind of a grey (maybe not so grey) area that I really wish we could get some more clarity on from them. I wish they would just open source their radio firmware and call it a day, or implement some EdgeTX build for it that would solve the whole issue.

      @@BaconNinjaFPV Yup. Definitely really annoying when a manufacturer that's gained so much from selling open-source-running hardware keeps code for themselves, especially if it's in a GPL-violating way...

    Still pretty pricey! Wait till you start breaking things. Not sure if this is a good 1st drone for a brand fpv wannabe. PS: rear men throw out the manual...1980 tv.... 90's was the bomb! Your house is a pig sty.

    My buddy had cetus kit and the controller build quality in the ginbals was awful....like it had elbo expo. Flew great in angle mode but as soon as you went to acro, full stick deflection caused the quad to go schitzo. Tried calibrating and no dice

    • @BaconNinjaFPV
      @BaconNinjaFPV  Год назад +1

      I really did expect that a bit more in the radio, but mine seems to be a little less flexy than I had imagined. I think they have done some recent gimbal design reviews since they offer better gimbals in versions of the Lite Radio 3 now. They are still kind of gritty, and clearly plastic internals with potentiometers, but I didn't have any occasions where I felt it flex in a way I didn't expect.

      @@BaconNinjaFPV agreed. It flew well in angle mode which is fine as generally I'm not doing many Flippy flops. 1s 300mah don't seem to be designed for all that. I have done power loops but bottoming out was always a struggle. Good chat and content brother
