If your starting with short hair twists deffo grow your hair at a quicker rate but once it’s long enough to braid then that’s the best option
👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Twists are easier, but braids stretch more and i love that.
True!🌺
If I ever wash my hair in twists, oh my god, it would be one hell of a disaster with tangles and knots. Medium braids and mini braids for me all the way no problem. I rather spend the time putting them up and taking braids down. Last me longer, less time in my hair and I find it very versatile.
love that you have found your sweet spot 🌺
Elastic bands
Braids are the best for keeping your hair moisturise, enlongated, tangles free, last longer.....
True!!🌺
OMG! You are giving us nice contents back to back. May God bless you sis. Happy Christmas in advance.
That’s sis🌺 Happy holidays to you too!
Plaits/Braids are easier for me. Once installed tuck the ends inside the base of the braid. Stays moisturized longer under wig cap and plastic bag.. Take down is easier after a month's time.
Btw CC you remind me of a mix of Tatyana M. Ali and Zoe Saldana 😀
Thanks for sharing 🙂

thanks gorgeous 🌺! you are not the first to see that resemblance 😅! flattering! about the hair, it’s lovely when you can keep the hair moisturised and discover a month later that all went well❤️💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽
I love them both, but i prefer mini braids.
❤️❤️
This is a great contrast. I love both mini twists and braids. New Subbie 🇿🇲❤
Thank you so much 🤗! you are welcome here!!
I tried mini twists for 6 months and mini braids for 6 months. My days!!! When I call myself a twisted natural, I mean it. I hate the knots mini braids left in my hair and the lack of volume. Nonetheless, we all have to do what works for us.
Hahaha love it 🥰
Great breakdown. Thanks.
❤️
My hair gets locked up with twist. Mini braids is my to go💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻.
Nice 👍🏽
Great video!! I love the length of braids, but the time involved both in the install AND the takedown means I do mini braids very rarely. (Chunky braids are a staple and I generally wear anywhere between 1-5 braids on any given week.)
Chunky twists don't work super great in my hair, so I tend to default to minitwists, and I've gotten them down to just under two hours! 🙌🏼
I still can't go more than a week with either style, but I find they're equally versatile for me when it comes to creating secondary styles.
Your hairstyle is really pretty in this vid. ❤
wow! wish I could take down safety in two hrs! if my twist only lasted me a week I think I’d cry 😭
@@CoilyDiaries That's why I don't do them often. It's a lot of work to undo so quickly. 🥲
Thank you for this video! I’ve had mini twists in for two weeks, but my hair is at an awkward length where it’s too short for all of them to get in a bun, and my strands are fine so they won’t lie down lol. Moisturizing my ends and my hair just makes the frizz worse
I’m going to wash the mini twists and turn them into braids and see how it looks, maybe the thinness wont be too bad.
I find braids make your hair look even thinner😭. maybe add in a little hair extensions.
@@CoilyDiariesI’ll try that, thanks!
I do twists. They are fuller, the take down is easier, and touch ups don't take long. It's also easier on my older hands🙂.
I hear you 🌺
Agreed, I have fine strands and i don't appreciate the scalp look when I do braids, and yes the take down is easier for me and less manipulation, at this point I'm just singing to the choir... have a good day everyone!
@@kwilliams5728 it’s ok to sing to the choir 🌺😅
I’m 66 and I now gets cramps in my old hands so that why I prefer twists, easier take down but I also like individual medium braids, just takes longer to take down. Somehow, I feel twists can cause hair breakage more than braids cause of how the individual twists moves around.
yes twists for an easier installation. and yes if not looked after well you could see breakage even the ends
Good afternoon. I love your videos so much. Sometimes, I just wish I could subscribe to your channel more than once.
Wow, thank you sis! You can help by continuing to comment and sharing the videos! That will be equivalent to subbing several times I think😅🙈! Really appreciate your support
@@CoilyDiaries You are always welcome. I really love your channel ❤️
Good Morning. Twists are easier for me to take down. Blessings.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
The way she pronounced every word was perfect, I loved that
ahahahh you are funny 🤣
I love chunky twists but I prefer braids due to their benefits

Hi Pililo! Love your content and so far doing well with the strategy for hydration and moisture retention you talked about in your last video. I feel like this is going to be a real game changer for me! Just wondering: where did you source your headband wig from? I’m in Canada and thinking about getting some right now as we are heading into height of winter now. Love the one you’re wearing in this video.
Thank you! So glad the routine works for your hair too!!! Am actually just wearing a head piece in this video with a knotted stand alone head band. Here is a link to an affordable but good quality kinky straight headband wig I own

Twists hands down! All of the reasons you gave regarding the not so positive side of braids contributes to why I don’t where my hair braided. Another issue for me, is that braiding and taking my fine hair down from braids can be too rough on my fine strands. Do you think that mini twists are more damaging to fine hair than larger ones?
@@rinawallace1962 I think the damage would be dependent on how you care for the hair while in twists. The nature of finer hair make it so that larger twists are gentler but smaller ones wouldn’t be that far behind
@@CoilyDiaries ❤️
Thank you for your response.
I like braids because they make my wigs lay flatter x
good point 🥰
Am actually looking forward to braiding just to see how it works for my hair. Ever since I started natural, it's been twists and the shedding turning into tangled twist is annoying. 🤦 Braids, here we go. I pray you do me good 😂
Good luck
Mini braids and medium twists are the best to my fine highly dense 4c hair :) but I wanna try mini twists and medium braids again soon
My hair prefers braids over twists, especially when a wash day is included. My ends are uneven so washing in mini twists is tedious, I do wash my hair in big twists whenever I clarify.
I love the look of twists though, braids can be skinny looking but they protect my hair the best so as my choppy ends grow out I’ll gain volume naturally overtime :)
Also, twaids!!! Are really good. Best of both world (both mini twists with braided bases for longevity or mini braids with twisted ends for easy takedown!)
Honestly twists are only good for the look and ease to install and remove. Braids have more advantages I think. A twaid is a great option but I feel like I want braids on the ends too if am braiding the roots🤣.
I have 4C hair & Im from Papua New Guinea in the Pacific. Thanks for this video as I love twists which I do myself coz its easier. HNY from PNG.🙂🥳🇵🇬
You are so welcome! happy new year!
Also, if you leave braids in TOO LONG, your hair will MATTE at the roots. This is whether you do your own hair or you have hair added.
yeah matting is a real issue with prolonged protective styles
Just spent 2.5 hours detangling my daughter’s nearly waist length hair 😢😩😭. They were in for 3 weeks the amount of knotting and tangles was insane! Taking a break from putting those in her hair for a while. Will try braids and see how it goes .
for kids I do recommend braids sis. I feel you about the 3 hrs 😭😭😭🌺
@@CoilyDiaries Braiding took about the same amount of time but I blew dry her hair first after washing it to stretch it out so that took extra time. Hopefully it will be a lot less tangles and knots when I take it down in two weeks. Keep fingers crossed 🤞🏽
Thanks so much, what about braiding your own without extensions?
what about it?🤔🌺
Honestly i love both.... but my hair easily to get frizz... i considered both are protective style.... but when i get my hair done my money gone down drain due to frizz...
yea frizz is real sis. maybe use a little gel, twisting product or add in some hair? just some ideas..
I think i might switch my hair to braids instead of the twist just because of the density and length of my hair. Right now my hair is low neck length length however my daughter's hair is a little past her neck and she has high desity hair so her twist always turn out beautiful mine on the other hand is something different. Lol, i think it's just that i might need to put my twist a little bigger because of my low density hair I'm not sure however I know twist are trial an error so I'll keep at it till I figure out which size fits me best.😊
totally understand your reasoning 🌺
@@CoilyDiaries ❤️
Twist are nice but only stay 2-3 days for me. For my twist to last longer I need to add hair...meaning afro kinky twist.
that makes a lot of sense!
My twisting and plaiting techniques suck Lol. Also, because my hair grows at awkward, different lengths, it doesn't look full or flattering to wear them 😢
can relate to this particularly with braids😅
Twist are very easy to take down because I'm very lazy when it comes to taking down my hair just that it tends to just get matted when i leave it for a long period
yeah true!
Can you please tell me how to make your oil you use to stop the itching... tea tree oil & Peppermint... how many drops of the essentials & how much jojoba oil. If you already have a video on how you make it, please send me the link.
Oops. Sorry. No idea why I could t see your comment anymore. Here is the link ruclips.net/video/ngxZAIK-Vuk/видео.html
@@CoilyDiaries thank you ❤
I love twists! But I prefer braids because they last longer and I don’t get to unravel my hair every chance I get when my hair is in twists😅 my hair is not full so putting braids is not a challenge for me but I do wash my hair in twists!!
Great reading for braids sis🌺
My twists come unraveled no matter what technique I use to do them. My hair just isnt curly enough in some spots😭 there are parts of my hair that are 2C even when it isn’t heat damaged at all. Learning to accept my natural curl (or wave 😢) pattern
multi textures can be tricky but am glad you are on the learning journey
I have a mix of 3c/4a hair and fine strands. My twists do not stay twisted no matter what i do. I have to do braids.
Braids are great
How long does it take to lock if you would leave your hair in two strand twist?
honestly the minute I wash it. moisture lubrication and stretching prevent this from becoming a mess
Thank you for liking my previous comment but you didn't answer the request... do you mind sharing it?
done sorry couldn’t see your comment as pending anymore. strange
Neither one looks good on me because I have 3b,c hair and it does not hold styles for long. I would un alive someone for 4c hair
makes sense sis! lucky we have so many other options 🌺
Same here this 3c, 4a medium density I got seems not as versatile as 4c hair😔
I am a twist girl all the way
that twisted life #twisted natural❤️🌺
Yes, the twist life. 🎉😂 100 ..
Braids ain't for me. I don't add any extension and so braiding long hair is hectic, especially when taking them down
understandable 🌺
If you use elastic bands with twist your hair will last aslong as Braids do
that’s new. can you share a video of someone who has done this
My twists keep unraveling 😢 even though I have 4c coils😂
Try rope twists
Try using a little locking gel and twisting butter, and turn each strand individually before you wrap it around the other strand.
do they unravel during washing or even just passively? also are they mini twists?
@@CoilyDiaries yes mini they are mini twists and they unravel during washing
@@bellelooks okay, my rope twist technique kinda sucks. I will give them a try
