I have learned to embrace fizziness as a normal part of the natural hair journey. Once the hair is moisturised I just brush and tie the hair down and accept whatever results I get.
Yay!! Mini twist for the win! They are the easiest for maintenance and adding moisture for me. I've tried braids and it just takes more time than I'm willing to give. Flat twist makes my scalp feel dry and itchy even when I grease and oil. I've learned what my hair likes and don't have to keep trying different things to see anymore. Team mini twist!😉
I'm glad you are going back to wearing mini twists🎉🤗! I also watched another one of your video dated 11 months ago (Stop Using Water On Your Hair. Updated Moisture & Hydration) & I noticed "no spaces" on your scalp. I also like keeping the same sections when re-doing my twists, but over time I had to change my parts because I noticed some spaces (bald spots). It took some time for my hair to grow back. I had mentioned to try not to do a lot of hair parting down the middle to avoid hair loss too. Continue enjoying your mini twists. My hair is still going through transitioning. I just started rocking a new hair color for my young age 😊...
Thanks for sharing your experience and your hair journey! my hair was thriving then but I know the spaces aren’t due to recycling parts. haven’t had those for most of the year gone
hi girls, i am in mini braids. for the next year i will do my best to stay 3 months with mini braids and relax for 15 day. i am 3 years to my 40th and i desire to arrive there with long (mid-back) hair. God bless all of us
@@lataniamccook3618 oh yeah her styles are lovely but her hair is so thick that you don’t really need much effort to make them look lovely. My hair is much finer and less dense
Yes, she does some fabulous elegant styles. I am a lazy natural so I just look and admire, knowing FULL WELL I'm going to just plonk on a wig and be on my merry way 😅😂
Living mostly as a twisted natural and watching your content is what helped my hair grow so well this year. I blowed dried it for the first time this holiday season and immediately a week later put my twist back in😂. I will stay the path.
I was doing medium twists, right now I’m doing smaller ones to style more. For the frizz, slightly less leave in, and seal with an oil. You could do avocado, olive, jojoba, or argan oil. You could mix or do them separately. You could also seal the ends of your hair with a slightly heavier oil like castor oil or Shea butter. Once you start doing this, go lighter on the oil application to see how your hair does, and if you feel like you need to, add a tiny bit more. The oil/butter will seal in the moisture and hopefully combat the frizz. For washing, yes a great idea is washing in sections, downward motions and squeezing the product into the hair. You could also dilute your shampoo if it has sulfates in it a little water and add a little oil to it as well. While drying after washing your hair, if you air dry, while it’s slightly damp or close to dry put a satin scarf over your hair. This will allow any frizz to flatten out under the scarf. You can do this for 15-20 if you have to go somewhere or before bed, so the frizz has a chance to smooth out mostly by morning. I also have the same issue with the lint collecting in the back so I unravel those and redo them too, to remove the lint out. Hope these tips help! 🙏🏾🙌🏾🤗
Thanks for sharing your tips. 👍🏽 am an “over moisturizer” and don’t do less product at all. am also a die hard castor oil chick. that’s all I need and that’s what keeps my moisture in for 2 weeks straight. so whatever I implement for frizz has to factor in certain things that won’t be changing in my routine. will try the scarf idea and maybe a styling/ defining product
Thanks!Hi Coili , I just learned this tric for micro Twist, so not 100% I wash then I do medium twists air dry cover, Next day I unravel each twist and make smaller ones, careful not to mess up the curl pattern, I did this without water/ moisture products to maintain length, just a smidge of shea butter oil mix , so Happy with results because you cannot see the scalp, No Tangles and wonderful touch, Im keeping them dry so it won’t be difficult to take apart at next wash! 😊
I like to shampoo and DC every week and retwist every 2 weeks, so frizz is unavoidable for me past 7 days. However my twists look perfect all through those 7 days before wash day and I could honestly stretch it longer if I wanted because of how i layer my products, I get max moisture retention. I rinse my deep conditioner out with pH balanced, diluted ACV rinse. Then, layering products on wet hair: 1. liquid spray leave in BEFORE I leave the shower (hi-po hair dries FAST😂) 2. After shower, light cream leave in (mielle pomegranate and honey leave in) 3. strengthening (protein) serum that has a little silicone in it to lock in that hydration (Giovanni repairing leave in/styling elixir) 3. oil (the camille rose honey hydrate leave in acts as an oil for me) 4. If its twist day, camille rose almond jai twisting butter to finish. (I alternate with The camille rose castor oil and chebe strengthening buttercream for when I feel I need a little more protein. That product has CRAZY good hold for a BUTTER. My hair feels soft and flexible yet FORTIFIED ) Finally😭I finish with a TINY amount of Softee indian hemp hair grease. A little goes a lonnnnng way. I know that was a lot of steps, but it’s finally something that works for me. Maybe you could try some of these products? Maybe in a different order that suits your hair needs, If you haven’t already ofc 😭love your videos❤
thanks for sharing. might try almond jai but definitely not looking to add more steps. maybe playing around with the order or amount of products applied etc
Thank you for your transparency. Yes, although twists are lively, I’ve found it difficult to let them last for at least a month, hence why I’ve reverted to extensions. I would love to know how you maintain your new routine to make your mini twits last longer in a stylish way.
I've started my mini twist journey, and I love it😊👌🏾 I wash and retwist every 4-6weeks. I moisturize regularly. I am so over detangling my 4z hair! This style allows me to enjoy wearing my hair down, run my hands through my hair and do simple neat styles❤
Yes! The twisted natural life is undefeated. I’m trying to have less frizz with twists and learned that using a braid and loc gel at the roots, combing it at the roots with a fine tooth comb, and using minimal product on strands is key!
I love mini twists! They grow my hair best Unfortunately, I end up with single-strand knots after 2 weeks, and although they are not done in very fine twists, I am not patient in taking them down and always rip my hair off {my hair is thin and naturally soft and 'mushy'}.
I can't wait to watch! I don't have any product suggestions. My hair is short, and I'm wearing cornrows right now. I shampoo and re-style weekly. I enjoy trying different patterns and improving my cornrowing skills. I just added the Camille Rose Brown Butter Melt to my routine, but I don't know if it helps with frizz. Probably not. My goal is to always look put together wearing my own hair, too.
Threading your hair can give you the look of twists with less frizz. If I'm in the mood for mini twists, I just thread my hair instead. Melanin haircare twis elongating cream or 4c only curling cream work well for smoothing twists.
It’s quite the coincidence that you posted this. I recently tried the knotless, human hair boho braids, but the hair we used ended up being sub par and began shedding and breaking. Well, my stylist went on a vacay, so I was forced to figure it out myself. All I’m good at is mini twists and it has been years since I did them, but I did it. As I took each braid out, keeping the parts, I twisted each section, then once my entire head was twisted, I went back through and broke each twist into two. Now I’ve got my cute, short minis back and I’m so happy! I definitely relate when it comes to the frizz; these were my staple in the military out of necessity, but I embraced the fuzziness back then, and retouched the perimeter every week or so. Being able to moisturize properly and see MY HAIR is great! Can’t wait to see your journey!
Loved the video. I too have tried so many things, none worked like mini twist and I’m going back too. I can’t wait to see what happens to my hair next year.
grease won’t fit into the whole routine because of how tricky it will be to re introduce moisture once grease is applied and using stronger shampoos to remove it is not something I’d want to do
Twist with cream while wet. That gives me neat twist. I like TGIN butter cream, As I AM double butter cream, Camille Rose almond jai or aloe whipped cream. I was weekly.
Hey Missy! Nice to hear from you again. I am still on my tailbone length journey with braids and twists every 2-3 months. My hair grows slow, but following your methods is really keeping my hair from being dry and my hair has truly strengthened!! Thank you so much for sharing your videos! Happy Holidays!❤
Washing one's hair also depends on the lifestyle you have. If for example, you're more of an indoor person, never make much movements (which translate into probably not sweating a lot) or don't have any scalp issues (such as psoriasis, dandruff, oily scalp or other conditions) you won't necessarily need to wash your hair often. You only wash it when it become greasy, lot of build up which can go from 2 weeks to a month depending on one another. But in the case of someone whose job is outdoor, mostly expose to the sun and environment elements, for certain you need to wash your hair often. Bear in mind that even specialist advice is to think thoroughly before executing it cause at the end of the day we are all different (different genetics, lifestyle, health issues, food habits, environment which include different climate depending on where you live). So such advice won't be suitable for everybody neither give the same expected results because of the above reasons.
Hi, thanks for ALL the info and passing on of knowledge. Your moisture routine has been a real blessing to me. What I discovered helps keep my twists (after I’ve done the whole glycerin, leave-in, castor oil genius routine), is I put in (a lot) of Cantu Protective Style Set & Refresh Foam. Then let it dry naturally under a silk scarf. Frizz gone!
Merry Christmas. I wish I could share some tips I fortunately I have none. I am a braided natural, washed my hair yesterday and it's frizz central. I am going rebraid the very front and nape then unravel it all next week when I wash again.
Camille rose iiiisssss bae!!!! Lol you’ll love the algae deep conditioner; the curl love moisture milk; and the almond jai twisting butter! Camille rose has never failed me. Like ever! I loved Mielle too but my subscribers got me in a chokehold with the controversy. So I just retired the products I was using. And to be honest, they did not perform like when I first tried them. They just sat on my hair for the most part. Looking forward to the elegant styles. I actually cannot wait for the styling options when my hair gets longer.
@@CoilyDiaries I think you may really like the Almond Jai. It has a smoothing emollient effect in my hair and it's not sticky or greasy imo. It seals my hair beautifully. I tried the other 2 popular Cam Rose Butters and didn't like them as much: the Aloe Whipped was too lightweight for sealing and the Curlaide felt more greasy.
Use a silk or satin scarf to tie down your hair to help with frizz. Use the sides of your mini brush to smooth out hair gently. Make the twist st the base taunt then the rest of the twist tight for a smother affect. Stretch hair as you twist. (Rev 21:1-5) 🙏🏾💜😀💐
It feels like you're talking about my hair when it comes to twists, i only do medium twists and my hair is thriving in it actually. I see all the benefits of twists.
Putting my minis in right now as I watch. For me, doing small as possible twists and neatly braiding at the roots are game changers for neatness. Focus on rope twisting to smooth+tuck tiny flyaways into the twist as you go. It's a tighter/snug twist but of course don't pull too hard. My products: I love Design Essentials Chebe leave in followed by Camille Rose Almond Jai Twisting Butter rn. As I'm retwisting smaller twists from larger today, I'm remoisturizing using aloe/rose water spritz then Cam Rose Honey leave in + castor oil to seal. Sunny Isle has a Jamaican Black Castor Oil Pure Butter which I enjoy using as a root gel substitute. Break down the project: start with your larger twist sections and do your mini twists at your leisure; 1 section at a time. When you get tired, pin your hair up into a unique updo with the different sized twists. Oh and last game changer for me was braiding the ends of my mini twists into sections post washing. This kept my ends stretched for months. When the twists look frizzy, some leave in and a headtie wrapping can help. For takedown, all you need is slip and an extra fine rattail point to undo the ends gently.
Glad you chose what's best for your hair. One of the advantages of twists in general to me is it helps me be consistent on moisturizing my hair, because my hair easily frizz so I have to re-do it max 2 weeks (in summer weekly). Second advantage is they're easy to install unlike braids. I love the fullness it gives to the hair, but unfortunately for me i have to stop doing it, because it causes me strands knots
@A_Wilson yes I am still doing braids but now I changed my LCO method to L now I use flaxseed jel or chia seed jel and aloe vera jel. And inside of using oil I am using butter, this way my hair stay moisurised for day's and I barely see knots and because of the jel the breakage reduced so much.
@rukayyaibrahim2800 That’s an interesting combo, very nice. Glad you found a way to cut down on the knots. I was in plaits the majority of the year but had to switch to loose twists in October due to a setback. But braids will get you to your length goals quick! 😊
The frizz is what I wanted to combat and I did it! I’m finally home❤ I followed your RUclips video 6 weeks maintenance mini twist. In that video you mentioned to stay away from any products that would cause your hair to frizz. Well…I nailed it. I wash every 4 weeks and I have not had to redo any (medium twist). Mini twist takes too long for me to install and take down. On wash day I start off with prepoo warm distilled water with 1/8 tsp apple cider vinegar and I use qhemet biologics Castro serum and flaxseed oil Makes detangle a breeze and I only use my fingers. (I do not use coconut oil to prepoo, it dries out my hair). Put my hair back in medium twist (only way I wash my hair is in twist) Then put a cap on for 1 hour and do some type of workout to add some heat to my scalp. Then I use warm water to rinse and massage my scalp to remove all the oil. Then I proceed to shampoo (once)with Thank God I’m natural shampoo that I put in an applicator bottle with several drops of tea tree essential oil. I let that sit while I wash up. Then I rinse it out and my hair is clean. No need to wash 2x’s. My hair does not like to be squeaky clean. That leads to my wash day not being successful. But dry and frizzy. On to my conditioner Camille rose Moroccan pear conditioner custard it’s very thick to get out….i put 1/2 cup in those applicator bowls and I add 6tbsp of Green Beauty protein treatment, 5 drops of rosemary essential oil and 2tbsp of qhemet biologics Castro serum. Mix it together and store in the refrigerator. I do take down each twist when applying conditioner but I do not have to detangle that was already done in the prepoo. Put on a cap let it sit 30 minutes. Rinse with distilled water. Quickly add qhemet biologics pomade to scalp and add qhemet coco ghee leave in and I add Whole Foods brand aloe Vera gel mix those 2 together in another applicator bowl that I store in the fridge. Now my cuticle are closed and the moisture is locked and sealed in. Then I proceed to the moisture max by qhemet biologics (heavy cream, Castro serum, pomade to undo each twist and redo them nice and neat. I cover my hair with a cap while I redo each twist starting in the back. And seal my ends with my homemade flaxseed gel and I add the aloe Vera gel to it as well to balance the ph. I make sure all my hair products I use is in between 4-5 for pH. With this method I do not have to re moisturize my hair for 2 weeks. And at the 2 week mark I use the moisture max routine I mentioned above and seal again with my homemade flaxseed gel/aloe Vera gel and add the pomade to my scalp. Do not have to undo twist. Use the praying hand method when applying products. And style my hair in a French roll in the back with my twist and the front to one side. I use mielle honey & ginger edge gel to lay down my edges. It doesn’t take out my edges and it lays them down. I know this is a lot but this is why I do not do mini twist and only wash my hair every 4 weeks lol I’m all about combating frizz and not having to redo any twist within wash days. ❤ I have high porosity type 4 hair and it’s all about moisture and length retention for 2025 for me. Wishing everyone an Happy New Year 🎉
Wow that's a really detailed routine! Thanks for sharing it with everyone! 😊 I particularly resonate with over washing messing up the entire routine. once the hair is too stripped it’s a nightmare for me too
Hey sis! Love the plan! The Lord brought your channel to me last year 2023 when I began my length journey. Thanks to you I discovered glycerin how to properly moisturize my hair. Your tips are so practical and helpful. Thank you!! This year I wore my hair in mini twists the first half of the year then transitioned to mini braids. I moisturize with glycerin, hair teas, rice water for scalp (does me wonders for shedding!), some diy deep conditioners or I jazz up store bought with herbs. I’m loving mini braids. It takes longer to install and take down but considerably helps me retain more length and is less frizzy. I keep them in 2 months at a time then reinstall them again which works for me! Looking forward to watching your new routine and thanks for all you do. Jesus bless you 💐❤️🔥
Is Mielle even safe for us to use anymore these days? I feel scared to even try the products now with the experiences of it making hair fall out... Idk 🧐
I love Mielle products, but I’m scared of them now. I don’t want to take any chances of my hair falling out. So now I’m slowly replacing them. The only product I keep using is their protein free deep conditioner because I haven’t found another good deep conditioner.
I feel the same. most of their products are probably all good but yeah I’d rather stay away till further notice even though I haven’t had any problems with the brand myself, there are just too many sisters experiencing problems
I apply Mielle Honey Pomegranate Curling Mousse after installing my mini twists on blow dried hair. I apply flaxseed gel at the very ends weekly. This mousse prevents frizz and is moisturizing. I cross wrap my twists at night.
Your mini-twists always look good. I’ve always loved how your hair looks in twists, not surprised that you’re back to them 😊. Will see if I can try them once my hair bounces back. Trying to get it back to normal as I have some breakage from mid-shaft splits and maybe other hair habits, and hope will deal with the hair issues am currently facing by the end of the year. Let us know when you find your ideal twisting product 8:35 11:04 I experience that with mini-braids too. My solution and redoing the braids on my nape once in a while to avoid crazy tangling. I wonder if there is another solution to that. I’ve tried light products coz was thinking heavy products like shea butter caused that but I still experience it Thanks for the video. BTW, just out of curiosity, do you have plans of doing smaller twists on your hair at this length?I remember you did smaller twists when your hair was shorter
I love my twist while I was pregnant and while my baby was young. That’s how I kept my hair. Only way I’ve survived and kept my natural hair healthy with little time. Plus loveee that it’s no tension helped when I had a little postpartum shedding. Love how easy it is to refresh. I have no negatives on it really.
Hun ...don't forget that mini to medium size twists are very easy to tangle up our hair strands. Then there is the frizz that comes with twists. Then there is the lint issue. Mini twists are hard to detangle. It's why I gave up on mini twists and looking for a non tangle hair style. Braids don't work for me either because my hair is thinning from post menopause and my strands are fine and low porosity. Other than those 2 issues 2 strand twists are great. Gurl I don't know what the answer is either. My hair is so fragile as a mature woman. My hair density is disappearing too and I loose so much hair on wash days and from finger detangling. Another process that takes forever. I daren't use any hair tools and no heat either. I'm sure if I did I'd go bald real quick. My length is about 16-18 inches without stretching. I never blow dry my hair. However blow dried hair is much easier to deal with. It's a nightmare to do my hair. But I don't use hairdressers so I suffer and do the best I can do..I'm also very tender headed and always have been. So I know hairdressers are not for me. Detangling 4d fine natural hair strands wet dry or damp is stressful. I don't like short hair on me either. So I have a hate love hate relationship with my hair. It is stressful and oftentimes I really dislike how my hair turns out. I want smooth and fully detangled well groomed hair. Instead I have the opposite.
For post menopausal women Karen from Curl House channel recommends to take Vitamin D. Iron intake also helps. I feel ya pain, neighbor (Matt 22:38 🙏🏾💜😀💐
I feel your frustration. thanks for being honest in a time were people demonise frustration with our hair. it’s a process and takes some time to master. I commend you for your effort. I have no worries about mini twist tangles because I found a method that works for me. I detangle on freshly washed, dry, stretched and well moisturised hair. it’s a game changer. check out the video I did on “detangling dry mini twists “
I feel you. However, there is hope ❤ My doctor was as helpful as a chocolate teapot in a dessert, so I found my solution through prayers, which led me to RUclips channels. Alopecia and hormonal hair loss reversed with combination of vitamins (iron, zinc, saw palmetto, MSM, collagen, etc) and ayurvedic haircare. Selina Zinchuk is among several former alopecia surferers. I keep my routines simple. Ask for bloodworks to see what you're deficient in and take the supplements. If they offer natural hormonal patc8, trial it and see how it goes. I'm so thrilled and grateful to God how thick and long my hair has grown in 12 months. All the best 🙏
My secret to frizz control is Mouse. Any kind. Apply it, wrap your hair in a silk scarf for a few minutes, unwrap. Perfection! It's never hard or crusty, but I actually wash my hair pretty often, like 2 times a week (I work out and stuff).
You’ve helped me with so much and my hair is flowing long and healthy. Now I need to know if there’s any sisters in your country could become my surrogate. You have such a large following that I decided to just come out and ask. Thanks & be blessed
@ I understand. Here in the states were told that women (feminists I think); are helping others with infertility by becoming surrogates, and this is because of the booming expense in the medical field just to have a baby. Many church friends, neighbors, and even colleagues at the job are doing this as Good Samaritans but they aren’t advertising-lol. They do this act of kindness through by word of mouth. So if you can spread the word, I’d appreciate it. Thanks for all you do in making a big difference in the lives of many! Be blessed
My twists are not mini . About 20. I usually undo them every 7 days, moisturize them and re twists. I use to moisture them in the twists, but that gave me tangles on wash day( 3-4 weeks) with so few twists,it only takes 30 min to unravel and remoisturize. I tried washing in twists. Disaster. Tangles!!!!
I am with you. I did the cornrows which was fine but I am a mini twist girlie. I discovered my hair is low density and super soft so cornrows and braids make my hair weak really fast! I am back to doing more of a medium twist and I am sticking with it for 2025. I am frizzy all day but embracing that is part of my hair! Camille Rose and Strands of Faith products highly recommended.
Sorbitol is a good substitute for glycerin. Glycerin causes serious frizz in my hair, so I don't use it as much anymore. For moisture, try moisturizers from brands such as Curl Origin, Soultanicals, and Camille Rose. To curb the frizz, you need gel, so try a natural gels like flaxseed, okra, or chia seed gel.
great ideas but no DIYs for me at this stage but definitely loving honey hydrate from Camille rose and will look for something to help with the frizz that doesn’t need me to make it 🙏🏽
Sounds like you have a good game plan! I know some people who wash their hair in twists, then take out each twist, comb through and then retwist. You can also try starting the twists on stretched hair to try and reduce frizz. When I do minitwists I really like the Design Essential avocado & Honey curl forming custard. You can use it alone as your final styler (atop your leave-ins/oils) or in conjunction with a twisting butter. A little goes a long way. I've not had it flake on me with any of the product combos I've tried, and although it can feel the tiniest bit crunchy if used alone, simply sleeping on it will break the cast and my mini twists feel so soft and bouncy, and have so much shine. The custard also has glycerin in it (the second ingredient!) so it's great for keeping your hair supple.
I never blow dry and flat iron myself - leave that to the salon - But seems you didn’t have a style direction, you need to find something sustainable that looks beautiful - twists will look good. Water causes frizz so don’t use so much .Condition your hair and put mousse (I use keracare) and twist.
thanks for sharing. I was and possibly still exploring what styles work for my lifestyle and preference. and I don’t have access to a salon that would cater to my hair well so yeah tricky
Have you ever looked into microlocs? I mention it because you talked about how you felt like you were constantly doing your hair. And yes I agree it; the frizz could be because of how much glycerin you use. African Hair God mentioned that most natural women use too much product when doing their hair. I just washed my hair last night and used less product (not seeing the product ooze out and spent a lot more time working and smoothing the product into the hair strands) so I have no personal feelings on if it works or not until a few days from now when I can see if my hair still feels moisturized even though I didn’t apply the products with a heavy hand lol. I’m really enjoying the As I Am Jamaican black castor oil smoothie. I wash my hair, use the smoothie, then go over with regular castor oil, then seal with grease. That has been keeping my moisture in. I wash my hair weekly to keep my scalp happy. I also stopped using oils on my scalp because it makes my head itch. I’ve been using a serum from hair growth co instead of oils or grease on my scalp. Less itching helps me to keep my hair frizz free too.
might consider microblogs in my 40s or 50s but not now. I also love lots of products as this has always given me best results for moisture retention. it’s like my hair marinades and softens in it. styling products, scarf to control frizz as hair dies might be a good route for me
Listen.. bout to start my mini mini twist in February. They have grown my hair to waist length 2x. Once my hair got longer I to experimented with my hair being out. But back to basics I go. The longer my hair gets the longer the process. But it's worth it❤
I felt just like you. I started watching how Coily Diaries styles her FAT twists and it gave me inspiration to style with headbands. Ornaments etc. I’m sure you probably know her.
2 months ago I braided my hair in 96 small plaits (no extensions). I loved the look but the take down after 2 months took 3-4 days and my hair was a tangled mess after shampoo, condition, and deep conditioning. I had a lot of hair loss and I lost some length. I was so discouraged. This time I have 34 large braids. How can I prevent the tangles on wash day?
tangles are usually enhanced the longer you keep the style because more shed hairs will be on the loose to cause more tangles. you can remove shed hairs prior to washing, wash earlier or use the method I share in my video “ detangling dry mini twists”
Sorry, I haven't got the patience for "mini" Twists. 1. Take too long to install 2. Take too long to take down 3. I encounter more tangles and knots to cut or unravel Medium or fat twists for me. I sometimes do a combination of braids and twists because my twists would often unravel so I either start with braids and end with twists or vice versa. I love my natural hair and playing with it. Not yet wore it out loose. Hopefully, next summer. Got flaxseed, okra water and chia ready for the twist outs🙌 ❤🎉
@@CoilyDiariesThank you ❤ I MY teens and all my twenties I would spend hours and days installing braids and plaits with extensions on my head. People loved them so much they would pay me to do theirs. Then I developed an eye allergy (my eyes would sting, swell and tear up) to some of the chemicals being emitted by the extensions when braiding people's hairs. I stopped. I relaxed my hair throughout my thirties, until stress began to take its toll and I began to lose my hair. Big chopped and went natural and never looked back. Will check out your glycerin hack. I solved mine 2 years ago, using Black Magic or Sulphur 8 grease as my heavier oils like castor oil were proving insufficient to lock in the moisture for me. Thank you for the tips ❤
PS: Reason I can't bear mini twists - apart from the knots and time - is because I'm still traumatised from spending hours and days doing other people's hairs for nothing or peanuts. I also have less time and motivation to be anything other than a lazy natural happy to spend 2-4 hours at my local steam and sauna loving (from ayurvedic treatment to shampoo and deep condition) on my hair once a month or fortnight. Rest of the time, it was under wraps because I was battling alopecia due to stress and hormonal changes. Looking forward to finally enjoying my natural hair again and showing it off. I ADORE natural hair in spite of the challenges with my 4C hair.
If you watch coily diaries she did a challenge with chebe and did both twists and braids/plaits. She found plaits kept her more moisturized and less freeze. Ever consider mini to small or small medium plaits?
I felt just like you. I started watching how Coily Diaries styles her FAT twists and it gave me inspiration to style with headbands. Ornaments etc. I’m sure you probably know her. Do you think that glycerin causing frizze might cause hygral fatigue with too much moisture entering your shafts?🤷🏽♀️
do you mean klassically kept because I am coily diaries 😅 fat twists look amazing on her due to the density and thickness of her hair. wouldn’t work on mine. I love her headwrap ideas though!!! her hair is a dream! sooo beautiful
I sleep on the silkiest silk. the lint accumulates once I wash my hair and the water dirt lint seems to get stack at the nape … as I stated in the video
@@CoilyDiaries ah.. I often wash my hair upside down but I understand how that could be uncomfortable for a lot of people. I suppose a little lint won't kill us.
Small plaits for me. I can't shampoo twists without....I left plaits for two months. I want ready. When I decide next time, I'll be a stretched long-haired natural. 20 inches and just deciding to even pull up loosely in a high bun is a work- out, and the amount of product that's needed is ridiculous
"6n1" ive been using this for 2 yrs, rrelaxed and now natural for 7 months. I bought a big bottle 2 yrs ago. Still using it...maybe dry hair under a hooded dryer with a scarf on so hair wont friz
For me, mini twists would require too much work. Plus, my hair tangles more in twists than in plaits. Also, do mini twists prevent tangling at the roots . . . at all? I find I need to detangle weekly to prevent matting.
This is a natural hair, all in your face, journey. We have been brainwashed for centuries that the european looks are superior and only acceptable. Resist those thoughts. Purge and reprogram. Yes, step up your game with new styles but it sounds a little like you are saying or leaning towards saying that the presentation of yourself/hair is not a polished and elegant look. I know you don't mean that, but wanted to make sure we are no longer apologizing for our hair and how it NATURALLY moves. I love your hair! 🥰
I love my hair its texture etc. but I also know when my frizz is out of control and I have a way I personally like to present my textured hair. that has nothing to do with European standards. thanks for checking in but we are definitely pro texture here ❤️
Thanks for being so real about this! I started doing something super close to your twist routine from a previous video, and my hair felt SO moisturized and great! I got frustrated by the frizz and have strayed from the path a little bit😅😭 But I want to get back to it. I feel like some other influencers guilt trip us for being frustrated by frizz, and I’m so over it🤣 On the one hand, I understand embracing my hair for what it is, but also, sometimes the frizz is just… like… really frustrating…? And honestly I think that’s okay. I love my hair, I’m just not always feeling the mini-twist frizz. Anywho, I’m going to try to get back into the swing of things with twists and try out some new products and keep exploring. Thanks so much for another awesome video!🩷 (and like others are saying the Camille Rose Almond Jai Twisting Butter is AMAZING😍)
I have learned to embrace fizziness as a normal part of the natural hair journey. Once the hair is moisturised I just brush and tie the hair down and accept whatever results I get.
me too but sometimes mine is really unacceptable 😳
I’ve accepted that frizz is a characteristic of my hair and I love it now.
👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Glad twists work for us!!!! 😊
I do medium sized twists instead of mini. so versatile for me and great for an active lifestyle
Medium to chunky is best for me as well!
@@Katalina_Eve great idea actually
hi girls,
i am in mini braids. for the next year i will do my best to stay 3 months with mini braids and relax for 15 day. i am 3 years to my 40th and i desire to arrive there with long (mid-back) hair. God bless all of us
You got this! 👍🏽
Try the RUclipsr Klassically Kept. She does elegant twist styles.
YES❤
@@lataniamccook3618 oh yeah her styles are lovely but her hair is so thick that you don’t really need much effort to make them look lovely. My hair is much finer and less dense
Yes, she does some fabulous elegant styles. I am a lazy natural so I just look and admire, knowing FULL WELL I'm going to just plonk on a wig and be on my merry way 😅😂
@ 😂😂😂
😂@@Rhule_N_Reyne
Living mostly as a twisted natural and watching your content is what helped my hair grow so well this year. I blowed dried it for the first time this holiday season and immediately a week later put my twist back in😂. I will stay the path.
That’s great! I know exactly what you mean 😂
Thank you so much for such detailed tips! Greatly appreciated!😊
@@kathydiaz3873 You’re welcome! ☺️🤗
Thanks for sharing your tips. 👍🏽
am an “over moisturizer” and don’t do less product at all. am also a die hard castor oil chick. that’s all I need and that’s what keeps my moisture in for 2 weeks straight. so whatever I implement for frizz has to factor in certain things that won’t be changing in my routine. will try the scarf idea and maybe a styling/ defining product
I’m happy you found a method that works for you, hair is a journey! thanks so much for the super thanks 👯♂️👯♂️👯♂️
Then, layering products on wet hair:
1. liquid spray leave in BEFORE I leave the shower (hi-po hair dries FAST😂)
2. After shower, light cream leave in (mielle pomegranate and honey leave in)
3. strengthening (protein) serum that has a little silicone in it to lock in that hydration (Giovanni repairing leave in/styling elixir)
3. oil (the camille rose honey hydrate leave in acts as an oil for me)
4. If its twist day, camille rose almond jai twisting butter to finish. (I alternate with The camille rose castor oil and chebe strengthening buttercream for when I feel I need a little more protein. That product has CRAZY good hold for a BUTTER. My hair feels soft and flexible yet FORTIFIED )
Finally😭I finish with a TINY amount of Softee indian hemp hair grease.
I would love to know how you maintain your new routine to make your mini twits last longer in a stylish way.
you are welcome 🙏🏽
I've started my mini twist journey, and I love it😊👌🏾 I wash and retwist every 4-6weeks. I moisturize regularly. I am so over detangling my 4z hair! This style allows me to enjoy wearing my hair down, run my hands through my hair and do simple neat styles❤
@@nompumeleoyedwa love it for you
👋🏾 Heyy just want to say your hair tips have been so helpful- I’ve seen amazing growth and thickness 🥹
I'm so glad!
Make your own flaxseed gel, it's natural and grows your hair. I think that will do it.
have heard great things about flaxseed gel but no DIYs for me at this stage of my journey
Yes! The twisted natural life is undefeated. I’m trying to have less frizz with twists and learned that using a braid and loc gel at the roots, combing it at the roots with a fine tooth comb, and using minimal product on strands is key!
That’s awesome, I’m glad you’re finding what works for you.
I love mini twists! They grow my hair best Unfortunately, I end up with single-strand knots after 2 weeks, and although they are not done in very fine twists, I am not patient in taking them down and always rip my hair off {my hair is thin and naturally soft and 'mushy'}.
I know exactly how you feel about the single-strand knots! 😩. gel at the end might help
That’s a great goal! Keep up the great work! short hair is nice 👍🏽 as it allows for shorter easier washdays
Threading your hair can give you the look of twists with less frizz. If I'm in the mood for mini twists, I just thread my hair instead. Melanin haircare twis elongating cream or 4c only curling cream work well for smoothing twists.
@@malindarayallen nice 👍🏽
That's awesome! It's great to see you embrace the mini twist again! let’s do it!
Loved the video. I too have tried so many things, none worked like mini twist and I’m going back too. I can’t wait to see what happens to my hair next year.
I’m excited for you! Keep us updated!
Maybe sealing your hair with grease might help with the frizz..
grease won’t fit into the whole routine because of how tricky it will be to re introduce moisture once grease is applied and using stronger shampoos to remove it is not something I’d want to do
Twist with cream while wet. That gives me neat twist. I like TGIN butter cream, As I AM double butter cream, Camille Rose almond jai or aloe whipped cream. I was weekly.
That sounds like a great combination to try!
Hey Missy! Nice to hear from you again. I am still on my tailbone length journey with braids and twists every 2-3 months. My hair grows slow, but following your methods is really keeping my hair from being dry and my hair has truly strengthened!! Thank you so much for sharing your videos! Happy Holidays!❤
Thanks! Glad my videos are helpful! Happy Holidays to you too!
What is wrong with frizz? It's the natural characteristic of our hair, especially if we have fine strands
nothing wrong with frizz. I just have excessive amounts mainly due to glycerin and because my twists stay in much longer before retwist
My trichologist said we need to wash our hair more often. Washing more often will help for sure
Once a month works great for me. Lots of growth and a minimum of breakage. Everyone is different though so this may not work for some folks.
So such advice won't be suitable for everybody neither give the same expected results because of the above reasons.
maybe later in my journey I might have room for washing more often but that just won’t work at this stage of my life
For the twist products, use the green beauty diy flaxseed and aloe vera leave in conditioner/gel
thanks but not doing DIYs at this stage of my journey but I think a store bought gel might work
Make chia, flax seed mixed with aloe and an oil. You'd love it ❤❤❤❤
That's a great idea! but am not doing DIYs at this stage of my journey
Frizz gone!
great tip there!!! thank you!!!
Merry Christmas. I wish I could share some tips I fortunately I have none. I am a braided natural, washed my hair yesterday and it's frizz central. I am going rebraid the very front and nape then unravel it all next week when I wash again.
Happy holidays! frizz is a struggle sis
I love a combination of the Camille rose fresh curls leave in with the aloe butter gel cream for my twists.
@@BlushingRoseDiaries nice 👍🏽
Camille rose iiiisssss bae!!!! Lol you’ll love the algae deep conditioner; the curl love moisture milk; and the almond jai twisting butter! Camille rose has never failed me. Like ever! I loved Mielle too but my subscribers got me in a chokehold with the controversy. So I just retired the products I was using. And to be honest, they did not perform like when I first tried them. They just sat on my hair for the most part. Looking forward to the elegant styles. I actually cannot wait for the styling options when my hair gets longer.
I love the brand too and all the products you mentioned except almond jai which am yet to try
Love Algae Renew conditioner and Almond Jai too. I used to love Mielle Pomegranate leave in but I got into the same chokehold as you.😆
Use a silk or satin scarf to tie down your hair to help with frizz.
Use the sides of your mini brush to smooth out hair gently. Make the twist st the base taunt then the rest of the twist tight for a smother affect. Stretch hair as you twist.

thanks 🙏🏽
It feels like you're talking about my hair when it comes to twists, i only do medium twists and my hair is thriving in it actually. I see all the benefits of twists.
nice 👍🏽
For takedown, all you need is slip and an extra fine rattail point to undo the ends gently.
great advice! thanks for sharing this!!! I will be trying out almond jai!
I hear you on everything. gel on the ends or vine wrapping would help with SSKs
@CoilyDiaries yes I watched your video of vine wrapping and it helped me very much, also gel on the end's😊
@rukayyaibrahim2800 Did you go back to braids or are you styling differently altogether? 🌺
I know this is a lot but this is why I do not do mini twist and only wash my hair every 4 weeks lol
I’m all about combating frizz and not having to redo any twist within wash days. ❤ I have high porosity type 4 hair and it’s all about moisture and length retention for 2025 for me. Wishing everyone an Happy New Year 🎉
Wow that's a really detailed routine! Thanks for sharing it with everyone! 😊
I particularly resonate with over washing messing up the entire routine. once the hair is too stripped it’s a nightmare for me too
Jesus bless you 💐❤️🔥
Thanks! Glad to hear my channel has helped you on your journey! 🙏🏽 braids are a great for retaining length
Leave in conditioner: glycerin , seamoss gel, honey, shea butter, castor oil and aloe Vera juice in a Blender. I’m loving this for my twist
Sounds amazing!
Braiding the roots of your twist also help with frizz and longevity.
I know but I don’t like the look of a braid and twist combo
I love that you're finding what works for you. 🥰
My stylist told me once that when I have frizz, I need more moisture, and get rid of split ends.🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️
not always true IMO but dry hair can be frizzy true
Your mini-twists always look good. I’ve always loved how your hair looks in twists, not surprised that you’re back to them 😊. Will see if I can try them once my hair bounces back. Trying to get it back to normal as I have some breakage from mid-shaft splits and maybe other hair habits, and hope will deal with the hair issues am currently facing by the end of the year. Let us know when you find your ideal twisting product 8:35
11:04 I experience that with mini-braids too. My solution and redoing the braids on my nape once in a while to avoid crazy tangling. I wonder if there is another solution to that. I’ve tried light products coz was thinking heavy products like shea butter caused that but I still experience it
Thanks for the video. BTW, just out of curiosity, do you have plans of doing smaller twists on your hair at this length?I remember you did smaller twists when your hair was shorter
girl am back! thanks for sharing. regarding smaller twists maybe later when life settles but the medium ones work better for now
I love my twist while I was pregnant and while my baby was young. That’s how I kept my hair. Only way I’ve survived and kept my natural hair healthy with little time. Plus loveee that it’s no tension helped when I had a little postpartum shedding. Love how easy it is to refresh. I have no negatives on it really.
I totally hear you! It’s all about what works for your lifestyle.

I’m gonna have to try that! I have purchased the spiked honey mouse from Camille rose
@ hope it works for you! I just get whichever is the cheapest one form tjmaxx
After shampooing and moisturizing my twists, I put on a silk scarf until they are dry to lay down the frizz.
Love that! It really helps to lay down the frizz.
You’ve helped me with so much and my hair is flowing long and healthy. Now I need to know if there’s any sisters in your country could become my surrogate. You have such a large following that I decided to just come out and ask. Thanks & be blessed
I am honored you would think of me but I am sorry I can't help you with that. wouldn’t even know where to start
Be blessed
Camille Rose coconut water style setter is a nice cream for mini twists!
thank you 🙏🏽
My twists are not mini . About 20. I usually undo them every 7 days, moisturize them and re twists. I use to moisture them in the twists, but that gave me tangles on wash day( 3-4 weeks) with so few twists,it only takes 30 min to unravel and remoisturize.
I tried washing in twists. Disaster. Tangles!!!!
That’s a great system that works for you! 🙌🏾

The custard also has glycerin in it (the second ingredient!) so it's great for keeping your hair supple.
thanks for the helpful tips. stretching the hair sounds like an extra step but I definitely like to untwist, detangle and redo the twist
Sitting under a dryer reduced a lot of frizz for me
good tip 🙏🏽
curling custards reduce frizz a lot
good point!!
But it's worth it❤
That’s awesome! Glad you’ve found what works for you. love my twists too
Ultimately one has to do what works and is best for them. Twist can be time consuming so we stick to chunky twists approx 18 ( 9 on each side)
yeah I might do medium ones too because of the same reason. just need to find a size that I like
You could try mini braids. It lasts longer and frizzes less. Only downside is you won't have the fullness that twists give.
braids are not for me sis 🤔
I felt just like you. I started watching how Coily Diaries styles her FAT twists and it gave me inspiration to style with headbands. Ornaments etc. I’m sure you probably know her.
Check the channel name? 😂
She does have the BEST twists! klassically kept?
1. Take too long to install
2. Take too long to take down
3. I encounter more tangles and knots to cut or unravel
Medium or fat twists for me.
@@Rhule_N_Reyne I get it. I do pretty medium twists often though my preferred are mini ones
@@CoilyDiariesThank you ❤
I MY teens and all my twenties I would spend hours and days installing braids and plaits with extensions on my head.
I have to start with a braid at the root because my hair will tangle right up
I feel you
New subcriber. I am also going on a mini twists journey in the new year. Please make a video on how you wash your hair in mini twists
Thanks for subscribing! I have a few videos on washing mini twists! check them out!
❤❤❤❤ lets have a mini twist party!!🎉🎉
yeeeeeeessss!!!
If you watch coily diaries she did a challenge with chebe and did both twists and braids/plaits. She found plaits kept her more moisturized and less freeze. Ever consider mini to small or small medium plaits?
There's another coily diaries?
@@qmina1 also wondering cause she keeps on mentioning Coily Diaries on Coily Diaries 😂
She must mean 'Klassicaly Kept'
braids are not for me for several reasons despite their advantages but I know some naturals love them.
I felt just like you. I started watching how Coily Diaries styles her FAT twists and it gave me inspiration to style with headbands. Ornaments etc. I’m sure you probably know her.
Do you think that glycerin causing frizze might cause hygral fatigue with too much moisture entering your shafts?🤷🏽♀️
do you mean klassically kept because I am coily diaries 😅
fat twists look amazing on her due to the density and thickness of her hair. wouldn’t work on mine. I love her headwrap ideas though!!! her hair is a dream! sooo beautiful
Lint at the nape may be caused by your pillow case or whatever sheets your sleeping on.🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️
hoodies and scarves in winter in the UK.
Me watching this while I undo my mini twists for almost 5 hours😭😂
Small plaits for me. I can't shampoo twists without....I left plaits for two months. I want ready. When I decide next time, I'll be a stretched long-haired natural. 20 inches and just deciding to even pull up loosely in a high bun is a work- out, and the amount of product that's needed is ridiculous
I hear you! once you find your style and routine you will be home!
"6n1" ive been using this for 2 yrs, rrelaxed and now natural for 7 months. I bought a big bottle 2 yrs ago. Still using it...maybe dry hair under a hooded dryer with a scarf on so hair wont friz
thanks for sharing 🙏🏽
Flaxseed jelly
thanks 🙏🏽
Larger twists can look elegant. As I commented before…. Check out Coily Diaries!!❤❤❤
Is this coily diaries, though? Are there 2 of them ?
yes larger twists are definitely an option thanks 🙏🏽

Dear sister, concerning the lint at the back of your head, always braid before twisting!
braids accumulate lint for me too
For me, mini twists would require too much work. Plus, my hair tangles more in twists than in plaits. Also, do mini twists prevent tangling at the roots . . . at all?
I find I need to detangle weekly to prevent matting.
depends how you do the twist and the size of it. the larger the twist, the more chance of matting at the roots the longer it’s kept in.
…* lint and frizz sound like conditioning/ surface film issue… more water won’t help
what will?

@@keyofeflatmajor girl there is frizz and there is unkempt frizz out of control frizz mania😅. Off to purchase almond jai ☺️. Keep at it ❤️
