Thank you for sharing! I'm new to carnivore after going Keto in Feb '22 at age 56 to reverse my T2Diabetes and high BP - off 5 prescription meds this year and down 30 lbs so far. Naturally have gone carnivore just as a matter of life style and health improvements this year. I never liked a lot of veggies and just don't want them. I find I have better gut health overall on a mostly carnivore way of eating. I am having to learn how to cook meats and having a better variety of spices will really help me enjoy the food more. I love listening to Cutting Against the Grain and your honest, straight forward, no nonsense style. The first few months of dietary changes had me thinking I had to avoid every little gram of so many things but like you I have quickly realized that while I need to stay away from sweets that I still want to enjoy my life and not worry about a tiny amount of this or that. I've got to find my way to make this sustainable for life. I've lost 4 close family members to complications of diabetes. I didn't want to be next. I really had to change my life style to save my own life. Now, I'm working to learn how to make that life more fulfilling every day. It's a work in progress. Your one non-negotiable of carnivore only really helped me. I don't feel hungry anymore BUT I still deal with the emotional eating. I have made it my non-negotiable that if I eat when I probably shouldn't that it will be carnivore. I haven't had sweets since I first started in February which is a HUGE win for me. I avoid Keto foods and eat mostly whole foods now. I feel better than I have in decades and my mental health is also so much better! I have added QUALITY years to my life! I'm staying vigilant while working to not be completely rigid. Please keep posting and sharing! You are truly making a difference! Thank you again and blessings to you!
I feel your story. I am 45 and in Feb'22 started keto at 315lbs and diabetic. As of Sept '22 I've lost 50lbs, my a1c is 5.5 and I only take 1 medication for my BP which is lower than when I started. My my. Is a 40 yr diabetic I've had many family members with diabetes who have hard sick lives and then pass away too early. When my friend 1 yr older than me passed in Feb I knew I had to do something or I would follow her soon. Congrats to you. I am a mostly carnivore about 80 percent of my diet is animal based. I can run up and down the stairs now when in Feb I had to painfully do 2 feet each step like a toddler. This really is a life giving not just changing diet. I have done many diets including vegan and never had such success and mental clarity and health benefits. Be well

I needed this video. I recently started carnivore and am having trouble eating a lot of meat. I have never been a big meat eater but was not sure how to season. This is great and will make the meat taste so much better.
How have I never thought to ask for a side of salt at Fogo?! The Redmond smoked salts are a current fave, I sprinkle some over some ghee and slap a hot steak on top.
We make our own spice blends. Taco, Cajun, Montreal, and ranch. We were pretty strict for the first 6mo, only salt. Then slowly started adding onion and garlic powder on occasion. My family Czech so giving up paprika forever was scary. But it's been a few months now adding spices back and no detectable health issues. We were never big fans of black pepper even before but do use some white pepper in blends. It's still 50/50 using only salt or spice blend. Sometimes the steak so good only needs salt.
I get a hickory smoked sea salt and applewood smoked sea salt from a local person and I use those almost daily! I love having a smoky salt for almost anything. I’m also able to get a chipotle smoked sea salt as well but haven’t tried it yet.
Your next trip to TX find the richest part of town (it’s only in theirs for some reason) and go into their Central Market grocery store. Their bulk seasoning section had a wall of salt. You can open, smell and see the texture. Saw $50/lb salt in North Dallas last week. #ThingsToDoOnVaca 😂
One thing to think about too in the Greek freak seasoning you mentioned, depending on the brand/manufacturer honesty and how upfront they are, the sunflower oil could be used to lubricant the machines that package the product too so it may be even less!
Such great spices!! I love having the option to try something different and make this way of eating more sustainable and fun. I cannot live without Redmond’s season salt on my pork chops and Italian with my turkey. Also love some flaky finishing salt. Taco seasoning is also the best - I can’t do plain ground beef anymore, it’s gotta have some spice! Thank you so much for sharing! ❤❤❤
This is a great video! Thank you for sharing your favorite salt and seasonings. This was perfect timing for my husband. He is getting sick of burgers, steak, and chicken. While I am happy with steak every day, he needs more variety. I think this might be the trick. I would love to see videos of how you use these seasonings. I feel like that would be so helpful.

I use salt on a daily basis but every once and a while I like to have seasonings to change it up. My gut doesn't like the seasonings but it just has to get over it because my taste buds do. When we smoke brisket I have found that ground up fresh garlic and salt makes for a very tasty seasoning.
Great video! I keep it fairly simple, but like some basic seasonings. I recently added Redmond's Real salt, but have used Gator Sprinkle (from Gator Sauce Co., Felda FL) for several years, and my sister sent me some Slap Ya Mama Cajun seasoning (from LA). Both are fairly simple and I think they're fairly clean. I mainly use the Redmond's salt and accent with the other two.
@Toomuch2do From what I've read and heard, it should be free of microplastics that other forms of salt may contain. Granted, it comes in a plastic container, but everything else does, too. It also has a unique flavor, which might be worth trying. It is my belief that others suggest it for carnivore, since we are adding back in a noticeable amount of salt, after removing it with all of the processed food which contains salt. It hasn't hurt my budget yet, since I usually mix it with Gator Sprinkle, which is predominantly salt, but some other spices, too. They do offer larger refill bags that are more economical than the shaker bottle.
I enjoy watching you order food. your shorts. my only question. i had terrible arthritis and other problems. they all went away in 10 days, i fasted 21 hours a day, ate once a day, only meat, eggs and salad. its been 2 months, i eat anything that came from the earth, no bread, no fast food, no sugar, only what i prepare. all pain is gone, i feel fine, day 10 and 11 sucked, like the flu. some muscle pain in my right leg. lost 20 pounds. i don't see the need to go all meat. but the need to quit sugar and bread and fast food, processed food. i don't need ketosis. my life is forever better. i don't snack, i fast, i have been eating some breakfast on occasion. fasting is easier than i thought. just up to 21 hours a day.
Hi Laura I was wondering maybe you can do a video on carnivore diet with a twist. The twist being how to survive a famine with this diet intact. Lots of people are worried about upcoming global famine. Thanks
Learn to Hunt …. bc this was our ancestors way ….. no famine will interfere bc grocery stores are not your only source. Butchers and farmers can sell animals. But do not worry GOD says there’s enough for all for a million years. Pray against famine as ask not receive not.
Really great, informative, and fun video. Headed now to purge, declutter, and restock my spice pantry. There are probably a ton of really old ones, as well.
One of my fave spice mixes is fading in my use because of the added sugars. I just use the main spices and mix my own now it's amazing to see that they put sugar in so many things.
Just recently got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes love to cook, was surprised how many of the seasoning blends included sugar. The Adobo seasoning is already a staple. As far as salt goes, I like the pink Himalayan salt. Saw a video on how someone uses a salt slab, and cooked meat directly on it. It is on my Christmas list.
Kinders and Meat Church seasonings are my go-to’s. My wife cannot tolerate the Kinder’s taco seasoning blend so we have backed off off that one. The rest are fine.
I use pink “Himalayan” salt or kosher salt. Spices: black pepper is still usual despite its drawbacks, though sometimes I use chipotle powder instead. Probably that has drawbacks too.
I started buying pure seasoning’s just garlic, onion powder, and so on and mix my own seasoning mixes. It helps me control exactly what I want in my food. I just get it in bulk,
Old Saratoga is EXCELLENT for limited ingredient spice blends and I absolutely love his smoked salt. We met him at a BBQ festival and he grows the herbs and makes the blends in small batches. LOVE the TFC (taco/fajita). I have found some awesome stuff at Pepper Palace as well. I think both are regional to the northeast US, but they have websites to order online.
This REALLY answers all the questions in making meats different...while normally u add different veggies or potatoes or sauses....this was perfect and SO much variety to start...like u said one chicken can be so many different flavors...sincerely thank so much.....next would you teach us how to cook the meats differently....especially for us limited apartment dwellers please? Just LOVE ur videos Laura ..love to you.😊
I don't believe most of these RUclipsrs hocking LMNT and other stupid expensive products are truly using it yourselves. You can make an electrolyte drink yourself for super cheap and get everything you need.
I use Bearded Butchers Brock Lesnar Blend. It contains no MSG, No Sugar and is also Gluten Free for those who are unable to tolerate gluten in a seasoning. I am also reviewing many of my other seasonings. I have noticed several have sugar as one of the top two ingredients. Will decide whether or not to keep those in the pantry. They will likely not make the cut as I have seen some good alternatives on your video. Thanks for publishing!
Not sure if you can get it there but try MINGLE seasoning. They are fantastic and NO nasties or additives. They even have 3 sweet seasonings. I know it's not Carnivore or true Keto but for anyone who is lo carb, they also have a no nasty less sugar Ketchup and Sweet Chilli.
I haven't started yet, I thought you were supposed to eat everything plain and that really turned me off....thank you for making this video. We already use Redmonds, love it
Only at this since oct 3. So can't give up garlic and herbs. I also use very finely shredded iceberg, Eggs are killing me I literally gagged a day before yesterday.
thanks for this video. Lately I've been growing bored with my carni meals especially the ground beef I eat on days I don't eat ribeyes or more expensive cuts.
This video was very helpful and re-inspired me to got ahead and move to carnivore diet. I love my spices especially individual spices that I can combine. Although I really love kinders blend.
LOVE Falksalt! A while ago I followed your Amazon link to this salty wonder. Hands down the best flaky salt! Now it’s a regular subscribe & save. Thanks for your recommendation 🧂Also, totally agree that crunching on a few flakes of salt curbs the desire to snack.
Toying with the idea of carnivore. I don’t have the support of my hubby yet 😢 We are Asians and we can’t live without our rice and soy sauce 😅 Although for the soy sauce I can replace it with fish sauce 😊 But soon… (Sept 2022, today is Nov 2022)Already doing OMAD, my hubby doing 2MAD. Going to try eating more pork, hubby loves pork especially crunchy pork like chicharon, bacon, lechon or roasted pig and anything crunchy. Maybe that will be my way to introduce him to at least cut back on his carbs a.k.a. rice 😂
This is my favorite video of yours so far, thank you! I really want to experiment with spices more, in hopes that I’ll then be able to cut out the condiments that I keep holding onto. My current go-to for pretty much everything is a blend from a local butcher shop, but I just checked the label for the first time and it has soybean oil and msg 😢 I’m now on the look for something new and will look into your suggestions!
Loving carnivore I started for weight loss January 2022 and it’s fantastic in my opinion. The only thing I have just now and then is some wine or avocado asparagus berries but not very often restaurants aren’t too hard to manage or eat first etc. find it worth it I feel so much better not just losing lbs
Around 4 years carnivore and stick to salt for myself. Smoked salt was life changing! I buy it every time Redmond has it in stock. Falksalt's smoked large flake is an amazing finishing salt too. But, I use spices for my family. My household probably wouldn't function without Old Bay seasoning! My wife is carnivore and eats very similar to you for spices and I've always made my own taco seasoning as well. If it keeps it interesting and sustainable, I don't think some cumin, chili powder or Old Bay etc. are going to hurt anything.
I really appreciate all of yours and your husbands videos but the ones where you go to restaurants and give examples on what and how to order is absolutely fantastic. That has always been challenging. When needing to find a video for a particular restaurant or type of food, is there an easy way to search for it from you guys? Would I go to RUclips, enter your RUclips channel and search for that particular restaurant or food? Can you guys do a video on how to find videos on the different things people are needing information on? Thanks!
Thanks for this wonderful video! I’m ready to add spice and spice blends to my meats to make things more interesting. It’s hard to decide where to start - so many tempting options!!!

I use pink “Himalayan” salt or kosher salt. Spices: black pepper is still usual despite its drawbacks, though sometimes I use chipotle powder instead. Probably that has drawbacks too.
Celtic Salt works great for a crunchy effect.
Excellent video Laura, thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing such good advice for being able to change up the flavors and to keep from getting bored and cheating.
Just LOVE ur videos Laura ..love to you.😊
Awesome job
Sam's has different Kinder spices then Costco, just FYI 😉
I ordered the LMNT sample pack and another pack from your promo code. My husband and I are hooked! Thank you
I don't believe most of these RUclipsrs hocking LMNT and other stupid expensive products are truly using it yourselves.
We already use Redmonds, love it
Hi Laura, your channel was recommended by Terri Leist who has her own channel too. I've subscribed and look forward to watching your videos. 👍🙏
I have been using kosher salt. Yummy
Awesome video!
Thank you for sharing! 😊
Only at this since oct 3. So can't give up garlic and herbs. I also use very finely shredded iceberg, Eggs are killing me I literally gagged a day before yesterday.
You look so so healthy!!!
i love celtic grey seasalt
thanks for this video.
I find a seasoning I like then make it from scratch without the sugar, tonight I had Chinese sat and pepper belly pork
Oh that's sounds soo good
LOVE Falksalt! A while ago I followed your Amazon link to this salty wonder. Hands down the best flaky salt! Now it’s a regular subscribe & save. Thanks for your recommendation 🧂Also, totally agree that crunching on a few flakes of salt curbs the desire to snack.
Love your tee!
I love all of these ideas for adding variety to meat! Have you done a video on how you make jerky? I'd love to try that.
Me too, I will like a jerky video please :)
Yeast extract is MSG
Toying with the idea of carnivore. I don’t have the support of my hubby yet 😢 We are Asians and we can’t live without our rice and soy sauce 😅 Although for the soy sauce I can replace it with fish sauce 😊 But soon… (Sept 2022, today is Nov 2022)Already doing OMAD, my hubby doing 2MAD. Going to try eating more pork, hubby loves pork especially crunchy pork like chicharon, bacon, lechon or roasted pig and anything crunchy. Maybe that will be my way to introduce him to at least cut back on his carbs a.k.a. rice 😂
yes thank you i want to make taco meat, i hate grounded beef so seasoning is a necessity and cheese
Thank you😊
we only use sea salt and the pink malyan salt
This is my favorite video of yours so far, thank you! I really want to experiment with spices more, in hopes that I’ll then be able to cut out the condiments that I keep holding onto. My current go-to for pretty much everything is a blend from a local butcher shop, but I just checked the label for the first time and it has soybean oil and msg 😢 I’m now on the look for something new and will look into your suggestions!
This information is so helpful. Thank you! For seasonings, we have been using Pork King Good. We love the seasoned salt and the taco seasoning.
Hi thanks for the information. Where did you buy your salt and butter tower?
I like salt 84 / Pink Himalayan salt. But Redmond salt is good too.
I love spices and added flavors . Salt , pepper alone are not enough for my pallet . I’m going to buy the Adobo and give it a go ;)
How about organic Worcestershire sauce?? Vinegar, water, molasses, salt, sugar and spices.
1 carb.
Do you have the homemade jerk in a video? If not would be very interested in seeing one
Laura,
Hopefully, you haven’t already answered this somewhere but where did you get your cutting board plates at? Loving your channel ❤
Amber
Careful Laura.....Kinder's is made with sunflower oil.
Thanks!
Also can😍you do a make up tutorial someday ? You look SO pulled together I am hopeful is all..
Thanks for this wonderful video! I’m ready to add spice and spice blends to my meats to make things more interesting. It’s hard to decide where to start - so many tempting options!!!
