Actually, you can bring a water bottle and fill it at refillable water points or even tap water. Like that, you can save more money (from buying drinks).
Can't believe you walked all the way from MBS to TPY under the hot sun and took a bus back to Chinatown... yours must be the only channel that shows sight-seeing of Singapore from top of HDB... Good job!
10 dollars a day is basically what I go by when I'm tight on cash or want to save up. With just plain water, it's easy to get by. I still remember picking mangos off trees when I was 6 with my dad. No idea if that's still around.
For your dinner, it would be more satisfying if you ordered the 大包。I think it is $1.80. Tiong Bahru Bao stall is one of my favourite. Affordable and tasty dim sum.
You could have gone to Maxwell Food Centre for $1 noodles at Rickshaw Noodles (#01-87) so you didn't need to walk all the way to Toa Payoh from Marina Bay 🤣
Thankfully I know a few good vege rice stores that give me 2 meat and 1 vege sides for just around $2.50! It's just that when you're at work, the food options around you usually are extremely expensive.
This is interesting. Maybe you should challenge yourself to figure out $100 for 5 tourist days in Singapore - sleeping in changi airport, showering at a public pool, free sights to experience singapore, exploring free shuttle buses - it might be possible?
You are genuinely interested in and fascinated with everything about Singapore, as much as I say for myself. I'm subscribing because your videos are unlike any other I have seen!
If you're a tourist, there are quite a few attractions that are free! The Singapore Botanic Gardens, or any park for that matter. Religious places of worship, or just walking around neighbourhoods to see how the locals live. If you're a local, the museums are free too.
Value dollar shop is great and all, but its best to also check the expiry dates, especially for some of their chocolates and biscuit items; most of them are cheap because they are really close to the expiry/best buy date
You have nailed it with this video. You can live happily and less expensively in this country. Yet, complaints are common about the cost of living here.
for your effort, u deserves a like from me. for the lunch, u chose the pork which be costing 50 cents more then other meat. you shld chose chicken which will be cheaper but of cos fish will be costing more than pork. u passed by Sijiake at chinatown which sell chinese foot stuff stall. inside you can easily find 1 dollar+ snack or instant noodle food. well done!
I love Changi Jewel alot but haven’t got the chance to go there yet, please go there more I know u made a few videos there but please go there more, you can just walk around or find a cafe and just sit down all day using their wifi
Ghib san, You really know how to “eat local”! I remembered the uncle at Loong Fatt taught me how to remember which is the salty and which is the sweet one. The sweet one has got sesame seed on the crust, sort of like “put powder make-up”, sweet sweet like lady 😂 Omg I’m missing that tau sar piah so much now 😭
I remember sitting on the boardwalk outside the Shoppes at Marina Bay when i was there. Brought back memories. I has a huge beer at Le Noir (I think) and had a good buzz going. It was a cool night with a light drizzle, low clouds over the bay, lightning flashing within them. It was a fantastic view.
Try the $2/- Nasi Lemak at Bedok South Road BLK 168, cheap comes with coconut rice, nuts & ikan biliis, fried chicken wing, some cabbage and chillies of course. it's Promo but available as long as stall opens for the day.
Oh dear, that lady selling mango is so rude, unfortunately there are many such people around, for me, I will just walk away even though the price is a steal.
Y'all must not have been around much older Singaporeans then 😂 She wasnt rude at all, older singaporeans (esp those who arent fluent in english) tend to raise their voice talking to emphasise their point
Respect for walking all the way from MBS to Toa Payoh. But I was laughing when I saw you had $1.78 left for dinner. Luckily you managed to find something! 😂
Walking from mbs to Toa Payoh is insane! I wouldn’t recommend standing at random rubbish chutes of hdbs though. There r some hdbs with rooftop gardens. Corn snack and 100plus not exactly the cheapest things at the value store. Loong fatt increased the price of their tau sa piah recently. Tiong Bahru pau is actually quite famous, I’m surprise u got both a Bao and siew mai at 1.60! Overall some hits and some misses but yes, sg is truly a nice place that sadly many locals don’t recognise. (If u really camped outside MBS ur wife be like “got home don’t stay sleep on the road?!”)
Thanks for sharing the video! Even as a local, I would think living on $10 for the full day for sightseeing/food hunting is too much of a stretch. Maybe a reasonable itinerary would be keeping within $20 for a full day of 3 meals hunting for good food with michelin star recommendation. The food itself might be possible to keep within $10, remaining budget can be used for travelling and snacks/drinks. The whole trip would be much more enjoyable as a tour. In any other cities, 1 single meal at a michelin recommended restaurant would likely exceed $20.
Love your videos. Well taken. Is it shot on SLR camera, or mobile phone camera? Are the shots taken only by you, or someone else helps too? Love your channel. Looking forward to more heartland topics.
Actually, if you include the bus fair, $10 is already not enough, plus your dinner, is already very little. Maybe what should have done was to Pack another packet of mixed veg rice ($2.5) total is $5, and you can use the remaining $5 for something else that includes transportation.
Shops that sell cheap items: Drinks/Snacks: Value $ shops, Minimarts at neighbourbood area (North/East/West) Food: Ananas Cafe (usually located at neighbourhood area MRT stations/bus interchanges) They sell like $2 chicken rice and etc.😆 Or Mixed rice vegetables stalls that sell meat and vegetables with rice (can be less than $3, depends). Typically, things located in the neighbourhood area will be cheaper compared to central.
Ghib San: Sure hope you will make it back to the sold out Nasi Lemak place (before 1 pm) and do a review of their food. Thanks! I enjoyed your video. Thanks! And yes, I too was dismayed at the end when you were down to less than two bucks....
I would go for 1) Lunch Any types of Chicken rice 2.20 $ 2) Dinner Any type of noodles 2.50$.. 3) Brkft 1$ cup noodles .. 4) 1 $ Any kind of drink 5) Carry own Water bottle. 3 $ left i would take public transport rather then getting tired..
Anywhere in the world one can live for under certain trashold for a day. But whether you can live under trashold fpr the same amount for 30 days in a row or 365 days in a row is another story
Keep up with the quality content. only 2 points which could improve this video, sleeping on the streets is a grey area in terms of the law and changi airport is only good for sleeping in the transit areas, outside they make it abit more difficult for obvious reasons.
@@jayngcheeseng6488 I see, yeah you are right on this, but I always patron the market stall, its $2.20 for 1 meat 2 veg and sometime the auntie is generous in giving more portion
I think what some Singaporeans dont understand is that SG is the most expensive in SEA in terms of currency, but definitely not in terms of cost of living to salary ratio. I lived in Johor before, for my peers, their average uni graduate salary is stagnant at RM2K+ while the inflation is increasing more than Singapore. Within a few years i live there, the cheap Nasi Lemak shot up grom RM5 to atleast RM10. This is due to 2 factors: Singaporeans coming over to spend in JB prior to Covid which results in increase in prices due to higher demand and the other is Johoreans working in Singapore and having a higher purchasing power when they come back to JB which once again contribute to the inflation rate. But i mean ofc Singaporeans will still complain abt not being able to afford unnecessary stuff as such as their dream Mercedez. If there's no complain, it isnt Singapore.
Ghib u inspire me (a Singaporean) to visit so much new interesting place, is there one specific favourite place you have??? I love your videos so so much🤗
I get your point that Singapore can be cheap if you choose wisely what to eat etc, but lets be realistic, if you spent an entire day outside in 30'C+ heat and probably walked in excess of 20kms, there is no way you can survive on 1 milo and 1 can of 100 plus. You need to keep hydrated at all times and that requires buying more fluids. P.S. Instead of walking 8kms to Toa Payoh you could have purchased 2 x roti prata (koseong) and 1 cup of tea/kopi for around $2.60 in many places close to MBS/City area.
Get Singapore Tourist Pass for unlimited public transport travel. Probably best option is SGD20 for 3 days. Should be able to see most of SG in 3 days. Consider camping at NPark for free but bring your own tent.

According to goggles map navigation, MBS to TPY only 7.4Km and take only 1 hrs 34 mins by walking, so it's possible & he's not lying!!!
for the mixed rice, you can actually request for their curry/herbal gravy to be poured over the rice. It’s free!
Fun to see you do this challenge again! Shouldn’t have bought the 100 plus so you could’ve had more money for dinner 😂😂
Oh man I’m craving for tau so pia now! Ur videos are so insightful, subscribed!

for a start add in monthly billing (scc, pub fiber, mobile plan, housing loan etc....) i would like to see with those add it

not really
2 veg = $1
1 meat = $1
rice = $0.5
