STOL Demo with the SibWings Cessna L-19/O-1 Bird Dog

This is a short video of me landing a Cessna O-1 Bird Dog ( www.sibwings.com ) with full flaps at the Strom airfield in Washington. I know I didn't hit the center line but I think this shows pretty well that the Bird Dog is capable of very short landings. The scenery is the FTX Pacific Northwest scenery by orbx ( www.fullterrain... ) with over 450 enhanced default airfields, due for release on February 28th.

Indeed, shedding all the lift created by the wings really plants the aircraft down. Nice! Haven't done STOL yet in my PPL.

Yeah, in the cockpit view it's accurate. But in FSX it is just as loud in the external view a 100 feet away from the aircraft. ;)

Hehe, yeah. That's the electical flap motor which is way too loud in FSX. But retracting the flaps immediately after touchdown is part of a good STOL landing so I couldn't help it. ;)

Are you aware that there is snow in the mountains even in summer? Or do you expect people to attach the skis midflight after taking off from a snow free airport with the intention to land on snow? ;)
