I am a former Navy Chief Petty Officer and I grew up in and now live in Grand Junction. I still stop what I’m doing and look up and watch the planes as they transition through the valley and I still never get tired of it! GoNavy!
My uncle was master chief petty officer for the coast guard. I'm not familiar with ranks and what not but from what I understand that's a pretty high rank ?

Soothing. I imagine air to air fight going on and hearing “turn left, a little more, see him off the nose. Vanquished, Fly Navy!” All in the soothing narration.
Another home run! I enjoyed the airline humor. True story, I recently was working on one of my jets, and got to talking with a new hire first officer. He was a former F-18 driver, just left the Navy. He still had the navy spirit, referred to me as a "Maintainer." And, the icing on the cake was, he called me "Sir!" First time an officer called me sir, lol. Didn't get a salute however but still a good chuckle. Fly Navy!

Ok..one more. Our flight demo team is going to perform at the Grand Junction airshow. (Featuring the Thunderbirds). Its Friday practice day and the Canadian Super Hornet demo team as well as the USN Super Hornet are scheduled to perform on Saturday. After practice ( the USN team had not arrived yet) the commander of the Canadian team was the featured speaker at the performers cook out dinner on the ramp. When it was his turn to speak, he got about 5 words out when the USN 2 ship came roaring into the overhead, pitched out and made about 4 or 5 low approaches. The speaker just gave up and said.."Ladies and Gentlemen, your United States Navy" The timing was too perfect to be a coincidence..
You forgot to mention that Grand Junction has some awesome dirt biking right under your approach around the airport. Plus, proximity to Moab is awesome.

My daughter is obsessed with becoming a a fixed wing naval aviator. Maybe talk about your career path someday? I'm a medically retired Marine ground pounder and my father was an F-15C pilot but neither of us have useful Navy advice for her

Awesome video...I play DCS World and fly the F18. Your videos help me to try to be as realistic as possible. Although I am sure nothing beats real life, but for those of us who will probably never get to fly a F18 in real life, flight sims give us a taste. A little jealous not going to lie 😃. Yeah I fly f18 on Sim too, it's awesome that he talks thru the maneuvers, I actually live in junction and practice landing at this airport ALL THE TIME, so it was awesome to see him do it and give a verbal walk thru to boot, super cool!!
Fun video.. A few years ago as captain of a BIG jet flying westbound dodging storms and doing about mach .82, we notice we are passing an F18 a few thoundsand feet below us. The FO keys the mic and asks ATC if the F18 pilot knows he is getting passed by the mighty B757. Suddenly the F18 speeds up and passes us by. Just then the stewardess calls to tell us our grilled salmon is ready..;) Got a couple other fun F18 stories at Grand Junction.

Back in the '70s, here in the UK, we used to have car stickers coloured dark blue, brown and light blue with the phrases "Fly Navy", "Sail Army" and "Walk Sideways" on the relevant coloured patch! The RAF is referred to as Crab Air by the other British services.
Wish we had signature move handles for long drives on bumpy roads. I appreciate the need for an occasional butt adjustment myself. Dig your videos and appreciate all you and your fellow servicemen and women do for us. Stay frosty!

Great video Man. I was in the Marine Corps in the 90s. I was a combat engineer. I did some time on an expeditionary airfield in North Carolina. I had the honor to stand at the arresting pit to watch F-18s and EA6Bs trap. Great respect to all Marine and Navy pilots. Also I worked it the Navy in an F-14 crash investigation out of Oceana. Much respect and love you Navy Pilots great guys. Thank you

Great videos. This was perfect for me. I was VP-40’s flight surgeon from ‘97-‘99 at Whidbey, and I finished my medical career at the Grand Junction VA Med Center. Used to love hearing you guys fly around the Grand Valley! Go Navy!
Marine pilot here (of 50 years ago) who never flew jets. Been flying FSX for years now. A few years back taught myself to fly the VRS F/A-18E 'Superbug'. Learned to carqual using NATOPS. Have learned how to use all the various weapons systems. I study all your videos for details I may have missed (not many). Nothing like doing it for real, though. Hope you're not getting too much grief from the brass for making yourself a movie star. Payback: this is a great recruiting tool. I would've LOVED to have videos like this to watch when I was a kid. Keep 'em coming.

I've flown into GJT and to runway 11 many times over the last 25 years as an airline pilot. I've always loved military aviation and have seen F18s many times at GJT. So this was a great video to see! Thank you for your service and for sharing this.

Great videos. This was perfect for me. I was VP-40’s flight surgeon from ‘97-‘99 at Whidbey, and I finished my medical career at the Grand Junction VA Med Center. Used to love hearing you guys fly around the Grand Valley! Go Navy!

Marine pilot here (of 50 years ago) who never flew jets. Been flying FSX for years now. A few years back taught myself to fly the VRS F/A-18E 'Superbug'. Learned to carqual using NATOPS. Have learned how to use all the various weapons systems. I study all your videos for details I may have missed (not many). Nothing like doing it for real, though. Hope you're not getting too much grief from the brass for making yourself a movie star. Payback: this is a great recruiting tool. I would've LOVED to have videos like this to watch when I was a kid. Keep 'em coming.

I've flown into GJT and to runway 11 many times over the last 25 years as an airline pilot. I've always loved military aviation and have seen F18s many times at GJT. So this was a great video to see! Thank you for your service and for sharing this.
