The taxi close to the edge on a dark night is the worst. That is why you stay completely strapped in with the ejection seat armed. I am damn proud of these wonderful men and women. And very grateful for their service, many times in very demanding conditions.

As an Air Force guy, I was lucky enough to spend a week on the mighty TR back in Aug 2001. Right before the world changed. I got two Traps and a Cat Shot. What a ride. Deck operations is the most dangerous work environment I have ever seen...and that was in the Day time!
I was on that very ship in ‘97 with VFA-37 Bulls. Where they parked the Growler is where they used to park the Tomcats back in the days. That voiceover was epic. Thank you, shipmates for your sacrifice.

Watching these vids has me amazed at the complexity of coordination and management that has to go into running operations on the deck. Really makes me curious how crazy that setting would get in a true combat situation or even (god forbid) while under fire.

Yeah that will never ever happen in Canada. Don't have Aircraft carries only itty bitty little boats. that Canada won't hesitate to deploy all 3 of them if need be.

Did the exact same job mid to late 80's. One of the most dangerous jobs on the planet--- working & flying on/off a carrier at sea. I always liked it best at night in darkness. Orchestrated, controlled chaos! Love it, miss it. You all stay safe!

This makes my heart swell with pride seeing how our fighting forces go about their routines in such a relaxed and confident manner. You make this look so easy when we know it's not. The years of behind the scenes training it takes to do this would never be known if it wasn't for RUclips and channels like this giving us landlubbers a peek into a world we will never set foot into.Growler Jams has just shot into my all time favorites list along with cat videos. Trust and skill, skill and trust. The temptation to look at where you think you should be going, and not where the director knows you should be going must be overwhelming. My only experience of something similar was seeing trucks being loaded onto a stern only loading ferry in Italy. The deck crew knew exactly what they were doing, but first time drivers who kept checking their mirrors got a whistle blown at them, but if they kept doing it the greatest ignominy was to have the deck crew jump on the step and steer the truck themselves. I'd like to see one of your deck crew do the same!
There were several moments that made me hold my breath, and I just love how confident I feel that I too could land on a carrier after he talks me through it!

Only 50 years ago if you were piloting an RA5C your cockpit would be waaaaay in front of the nose gear and you could have a special fun time as following director you would be over the flight deck edge as you turn to park, even on a nice sunny day it was scary, ahhhh to good old days. Airline pilot here. Sooooo envious of your massive sky view, and SINGLE PILOT. Don't get me wrong, two crew for airliners is the way to go, and I don't begrudge the guy/girl with me at all. But I could really do with a little blast of 'just flying' as opposed to endless threat briefs, challenge/response, 'shared mental model', and all that stuff. Sometimes you just need a little break from routine, these videos are just.....awesome. Sky, sun, sea, jets......I can just about smell the sea air, the grease and exhaust fumes.......golden. Thanks.

Every time I park my jet right on centreline in a taxi out position it feels a little bit like this … minus the ocean all around me and a literal drop off beside my gear 😅 hats off to you, you make it look quite easy while I’m sure it’s not!

That is a part of naval aviation that the vast majority of people never think about. Taxiing an aircraft on a flight deck. And they never show that in the movies!

I REALLY liked this video. So many times all we see is the jet landing from the POV of the deck. But this taxiing video shows how it's really a TEAM effort, and the choreography of the deck crews shows how well trained our sailors are. It really is a team effort! Thanks.
I'm amazed how stable these aircraft are when flying. The pilot said it was relativity nice out. I'm a mariner... have been for 48 years in the north pacific. That was probably 25+ kts of wind at sea level. Incredible how they can perform so well in these conditions!

Wow this is such a great set of videos. As a lay person, it's fascinating to see and hear all that these great pilots go through, how they are constantly making decisions, following orders and flying the jet. We are so lucky as US citizens to have such accomplished and dedicated men and women flying these Navy jets.

That is a part of naval aviation that the vast majority of people never think about. Taxiing an aircraft on a flight deck. And they never show that in the movies!

So, I'm an avid golfer. I have always had my signature move...two quick practice strokes, spin the club 360°, addresss the ball. I will never be able to do that again without saying to myself, "signature move, no big deal."

I REALLY liked this video. So many times all we see is the jet landing from the POV of the deck. But this taxiing video shows how it's really a TEAM effort, and the choreography of the deck crews shows how well trained our sailors are. It really is a team effort! Thanks.
I'm amazed how stable these aircraft are when flying. The pilot said it was relativity nice out. I'm a mariner... have been for 48 years in the north pacific. That was probably 25+ kts of wind at sea level. Incredible how they can perform so well in these conditions!

Wow this is such a great set of videos. As a lay person, it's fascinating to see and hear all that these great pilots go through, how they are constantly making decisions, following orders and flying the jet. We are so lucky as US citizens to have such accomplished and dedicated men and women flying these Navy jets.
