My starter CV is Ente’s M2A miner. I have NMS and I’ve put some time into it but it’s never captured me as much as RE has. In NMS once you seen one solar system, you’ve seen most of what the game is. Empyrion feels more diverse even more so with RE. I also like that POI’s never respawn. I like the idea that I can win a war and the galaxy changes as a result.

For a starter, how small do you want? The SSW Rockhopper 3 is a micro CV and very cheap to get you off the starter planets. Neo is less than 800, cobalt is just over 400, titanium is just under 400 and sathium is 60. Get out of the starters then recycle when you have the resources for something better. If you want something cheaper the Carbon Warp Rescue CV is what you want. I keep one made in my factory for when things go bad. If you find 65 each of zascosium and erestrum the Ochnat starter CV is another good one. It was featured in J Randell’s EGS community blueprint roundup last year. Believe it or not there are a some very nice ships of all 3 classes under the F2 stock tab. All are from J Randell and other top creators, some need cpu extensions to work in RE.

Looking for a small CV that will act as a starter mobile base to make ammunition. Have a feeling it will be quicker to take over a starter POI.

I start with a miner that has a warp drive. Then I go for CV. I am trying Wayfarer ST this time and I like it. If you go to planet Alpha 4 in in the starter miner, it is a dead planet with massive amount of POI and no enemies. One great POI is an abandoned rocket ship on pad, and usually 2-4 smaller ones nearby, along with many poi as well. This will give you massive jump on resources to pump into factory and if you use temp core, you can upgrade your new CV Wayfarer by adding the thrusters to existing package. He put a note on wall in cargo bay explaining upgrading. After CV, also nab all the steel and concrete planters and then go sell them. Your in the money now!

Good suggestion, had forgotten the Wayfarer ST, it makes an ideal starting ship. the ability to upgrade ships is a key feature of Jrandalls ships,. it the reason I still use the MX5 SV.
Have made several starts on the Dead planet, keep forgetting about it when using other starts. Visiting it this will give a big boost to the objective of this series.

Tallador has great POIs . Lots of loot. Problem is as always, weapons. Nice if you could find an upgraded one before the scary decent into doom!

Agree, taking down the POIs is going to be a tough proposition, plan to explore the planet, hopefully find some tier 2 weapons, then move onto the tougher POIs.

@@StephenSilverbeard Burial Chambers are very good for loot in RE. I think there are 3 rare and 1 ultra rare. One can only be accessed by digging up into the right hand corner behind the snake statue. Elders Tombs are another one that has some good loot, depending if its a updated one or not depends if there are a few more loot containers. Blocks can be removed with a multi-tool and the core can be destroyed (if you know where it is) so you can use a salvage core to get all the primitive furniture to sell for good credits.

The lower levels of the burial chamber where you didn’t go has an ultra rare and 2 rare loot containers. Plus when you break through the wall and go up the stairs and through the hole above the statue you find another rare or ultra rare one, OR you can dip down. From the entrance go to the left around the corner, at the next corner dig down along the wall to the rare/ultra rare container. Some burial chambers have a Talon mission container (crypt for dead ancestor) where you need to retrieve parts for plasma crossbows.

I always wondered if using ships for mining gives you more ore per vein then manual mining.
Cause you can get a personal mining laser quite easily and that is faster then the mechanical drills on an SV. But it does feel like you get less ores per vein using that. But that can just be a misconception.
Comparing Empyrion to NMS always makes me think it would be so amazing of those two games had a child.

Have not noticed any substantial difference in the amount of resources recovered by the different mining options. In the early game tend to use ships to avoid the tedium of using the mechanical drill.
In the late game tend to shift the focus towards looing POIs and mining asteroids, although still use the personal mining laser for rare ore deposits.
