    Shame the main story hasn't moved on, but there's lots of side missions to pick up. I found a destroyed zirax space station, which had some nice loot, so it's well worth searching the space around planets.

    I was looking at the new assets added with the latest update and they have a whole lot of new armor. One is AI assisted and is a "mission item", best guess is a mission reward for saving IDA?. Others are UCH EVA suit, Battle armor, and Polaris armor. I transferred my game files into a new game and restarted and found a gold deposit on a starter planet. Also found a lot more neo, zasc and erest in space wreck loot boxes.

      Sounds interesting. it is possible the missions are being reworked for the full RE2 update with the armour being mission rewards. These may replace the epic armours of the base game, although it would be fun have some original looking armour to wear. Really need to get into space to check out the wrecks.

    When you assign buildings to a specific workplace and use the other buldings button, you will have a 50/50 split of workers. One half will try to work at the workplace you assigned, and the other half will work other jobs. I watched bbaljo, and he said that when you assign a building to work that way, you should change the priority to where 100% will work at the building you want and 0% should work at other buildings. In that way the game will try and push all the workers to work at your assigned building first, and if there are no jobs it will but the excess workers to work at other workplaces even if the percentage is 0. You should change your powerplant housing to have that configuration, and all wokers will try to work at the powerplant and not only half of the workers with the 50/50 configuration.

      Normally do not use the option as it can have unpredictable results due to the way the game allocates jobs to workers. When populating a new town is one of few times I do use it to force workers into key buildings, e.g. power, the shop and the kindergarten, as no workers in these buildings can cause problems leading to an early decline in happiness. Once the workers have settled down I remove the restrictions.

    I'm not sure what you mean by the MT 'cannon': it has the mortar or grenades as its secondary, else there's the standard boltcaster, the pulse spitter (SMG) or the blaze javelin (sniper) in addition to the scatter blaster (shotgun) you have already It's a waste to refine salvaged data into nanites IMO, as you only get 15 nanites per data. Far better to sell them for units or use them for research; pick up caches, nanite dispensers, damaged machinery & save point beacons etc for nanites Likewise, there's no point in storing excess modules you've previously installed & decided you don't like: any 'used' modules only sell for 16 nanites each, so they're much more useful as resources & wiring looms The storm effects on water take a little while to kick in, but once they do, they scale with the wind power: in high wind events they can be really huge (& lightning striking water is quite dramatic too). Also, take a look at the surf turning into foam as the waves/swells reach their borderline with the shore

      I was thinking of the Plasma Launcher, its not my favourite weapons, but could be useful against the big bugs. Will just need to remember to not kill myself. Planned to sell off the modules as at the moment it is a case of every little helps. However, it does make sense to turn them into wiring looms. Will need to find a water planet to get a good look at the waves,

      @@StephenSilverbeard You don't need the grenade launcher, but the other 2 outrange the shotgun & would be useful even with only the Anomaly upgrades (esp the DoT from the Pulse Spitter). The Paralysis Mortar may be more useful, but you'll have to remember to (a) use it & (b) keep ammo for it :) ; the stun effect for the BJ may be more useful than the Mortar here. Ofc any wep will benefit from dmg upgrades from a space station.. :) You won't be able to gain race rep with keys, only guild rep; however, while you're at the space station you can pick up some missions for race rep, & 'practice language' for the chance of gaining race rep there While you're hunting down that uranium etc, remember to use the drop pod chart you were given (& maybe the other chart for a successful monolith interaction, gaining more race rep)

      Had not considered the Paralysis Mortar, hopefully the Expedition will give an opportunity to practice taking down the 'boss' bug. The plan is to improve the two levels by exploring the current system as this will give an opportunity to explore the recent changes. Although finding a either dissonant planet or some uranium would be useful.

    Trading cards can be traded to some traders[lol] as mission items. Should be a POL trade station on the moon that has a trader on second level that has a mission for a card for 5000 credit plus 4000 bonus to keep it secret.

    Completed this a couple of weeks ago, if i remember correctly, there's not a lot more to do. One feature that i like in re2 is the specialised crew members that give bonuses to shields and warp etc. They also give cpu . Nice change.

    When using the scatter blaster (shotgun) MT weapon, you really should be up close to do dmg: you were too far away most of the time

      Have to admit was not expecting a 'boss' fight, thought it would be like the taking on the worm spawn, make note to read release notes more carefully. During the edit was able to check the damage, taking down a vile queen is going to take an upgraded MT, maybe it is time to reconsider my dislike for cannons.

    If you've been watching Jeff Randell's Anvil series, the Makar will 'fly' (and warp with a warp drive) on 8 medium Ion Lift thrusters, 8 medium Ion Rear thrusters, 2 medium Ion forward thrusters, 2 medium Ion down thrusters, and 1 medium Ion down thrusters on each side. His biggest issue with spawning it in was the carbon substrate, but he moved 'early' with Xcal to Beta 3 (from Roggery) which is a desert planet and doesn't have graphite deposits. You'll need Aluminium (should be available on the moon) and Neo (should be available on one of the other planets in system) for the thrusters. Might also be worth checking if there is an 'Destroyed Habitat' in orbit.. Given you don't have a shield on the MX5 you probably could have removed one of the generators..

      Currently considering using the Makar as a starter CV, at the least it will be useful as first base, It will be an interesting exercise to see how efficient the new thrusters setup is. Unfortunately no CPU for shield, need to find some more small optronic bridges to get an upgrade.

    I suggest you crouch a bit as you try to make your way to the entrance or risk the turrets getting you. Also a few drones might be flying around too. Enemies on both sides outside that building. I built my SV and put a turret on top. I had no other weapons mounted on my SV. I parked my SV in a crater to partially hide it from drones. The drones still got too close to my SV. The SV took it out without me worrying about it.

      Think it stems from players taking down the Titans before they reached the relevant step in the mission. Giving them admin cores protects them from accidental destruction,

      @@StephenSilverbeard They appear to have 'Admin' cored loads of POIs and other things to deliberately stop players using 'exploits' to shortcut the POI (and or make faster progress).. no more short cutting the Abandoned Bunker (almost makes it not worth doing, as you get better rewards from the other 'Abandoned' POIs without the 'death' grind of getting through them.. might now come down to just doing the above ground element of the Bunker, and not doing the rest). With no 'dead' planet in the Alpha system, all the Alpha system starts are now a complete waste of time. If you want to do the story mission it now looks like the Roggery start is about the only viable option.

      Have a bias towards the harder starts with a loop back to the main missions after getting a CV. Roggery will be near the top of my list of starts when RF2 full update drops. Have no problem with the use of admin cores, although would like to see a way to destroy the admin core when that step in the mission is complete. For example, some code locked switches that have to be flipped to destroy the core.

      @StephenSilverbeard You should really get an advanced radar, because there are a lot of wrecks in orbit and some of them will have neo ingots and neo ore as lot. To say nothing about credits and 10 platinum cards I found.

    Yes, you missed several loot boxes. Where you got your first key, at 13:45 you're going across the roof. On the center spine of that there is a hole at 1 end to go through. There is another in a room in the crew quarters, but since they've adminned it you cannot get the door open to get in. At the hangar section, the middle of the floor has a hatch , open it. On the top of the middle section , there are some grating at 1 end. Again admin cored and you can't remove the grating to get it anymore. On the bridge section, by a large shield generator piece is one. On the same end, behind some pipeworks, up a level or 2.

      As far as I can tell the biomes in the DLC vary according to overall conditions. The jungle and desert biome start date is the 1st January, would guess this is due to these biomes not having a winter cycle. The Siberian biomes winter runs from early October to early May, so the start date is the 4th May to let players start at the beginning of the short summer.

    There was at least 1 broken slot on the ship that required pure ferrite; better fix those before you turn it all into magnetised.. A new (or used) MT /always/ has a standard scanner, visor & mining beam; anything but the mining beam can be scrapped or relocated as you wish Shame you spent the nanites on the phase beam, as it (followed by the rocket launcher) is the worst ship weapon in the game IMO - even if upgraded :(

      Like to have the phase beam for mining, and as a backup for when the primary weapon overheats or damaged (something that is more common recently). Started to run low on carbon (a new experience) so returned to the cold starter planet to stock up and finish some of the repairs. Seems the hype train is out of the station again with the possibility of a major update. Considering going back to the survival series to check out the new features, but will wait to see what is in the update before making a final decision. Although will come back to this series once the dust is settled.

      @@StephenSilverbeard The phase beam isn't any better than the plasma blaster for mining, despite its description; neither does it recharge shields significantly :( It overheats too quickly to be of any serious use in combat IMO, so I never use it even if it's installed; seriously, pick any other weapon than this! :(

      @@snafu2350 Plan to put on a secondary weapon, preferably on a sentinel ship, Just checked the Steam library it seems the new update has dropped. Have not watched the trailer, but the title seems to hint that it is water related. Just watched the trailer, the update is called Worlds Part 1, looks like a big one with major to the planetary surfaces including the addition of weather and new creatures. Seems we will be able to land on water, which should be interesting.

      Have never had much luck with student halls, so generally do not build them. The only exception being when a university does not have many students due to a lack of nearby accommodation.

    I'm currently parked up in the beta starter system. Using one of the many buildings on the dead planet as a base. There is a system 6 ly away. Has a barren metal and alien planet in it. Hoping for platinum. Already mined some zarcosium and erestrium but its risky cos of a sunat patrol ship keeps bugging me. Gearing up to take it out, hopefully!

    Been getting into NMS VR pretty heavy the last few days. Nice to find a channel doing a current playthrough, and a permadeath one at that! The game finally clicked for me today, and it's starting to snowball a bit. I'm still trying to take it slow and organically. It helps that I get sidetracked easily, and this game seems to encourage that. Even then, 40% of my time is just me putting my Frigate in an interesting spot, jetpacking outside and just staring at everything.

      Seems you have the right approach, the game is about exploring, seeing planets that no other player has seen. There is a degree of satisfaction knowing that each players discoveries leave a permanent mark on the game. One of my game highlights was finding a planet that I had discovered three years before.

      When NMS was first released it had a 1970's comic book art work, which was a bit over the top for me. Over time it has been toned down, find now the artwork that gives oddly realistic alien feeling. If that makes sense.

    Taking a break from the game myself. I largely accomplished my goal which was ro check out the new solo UCH mission. I expect you to get to a one video a week to show off bits of Reforged Eden after you finish the UCH mission. Its critical to finish this mission for the loot of course. And all the tech yiu will get your dirty hands on. I hope you can give me a guide on what I am supposed to be doing after the solo UCH mission. I find myself taking a small ship to other systems to see what I can get my grubby hands on. I need neo bad. I have around 500 so far put towards a ship on the workshop.

      After completing the main mission, where the game goes depends on the player. The main direction for me tends to continue exploring as this results in tougher confrontation, needing bigger and better ships. Then comes the problem of how to get those ships, so this leads a visit to progenitor space to get quantum tech. Although my plans are often wrecked by the arrival of a new update.

      If you are playing with auto purchase enabled the message indicates there is no road connection between the tram depot and the customs office. This can be a problem when trying to buy a tram using dollars, In realistic mode trams can only be purchased at the border. Once the tram has been purchased, click on the tram in the customs info pane, this will open the vehicle info window. At the top look for an icon with a blue '?' over a truck, clicking on that will list the open hull that can carry the tram. Set up a manual route to pick up the trams and transport it to the tram depot. When the trams have been moved remember to send the open hull back to the depot.

    Consider putting down a planetary base when you can (1 per system visited when you change systems) purely so you can use the storage containers for stuff you're going to want to keep for later but don't want to take up your current limited space, eg freighter tech, a couple of Vykeen daggers etc If you're trying to conserve launch fuel, do /not/ pick up a fighter ship to use: they're the worst WRT launch fuel usage, while Explorers are the best. Incidentally, new haulers will always be out of your price range, but a scrap hauler can be a good money-maker even if you only fix it up a little Take a look at that last planet in the system; perhaps it has some mag ferrite you can dig up for free without going thru the tedious refining process?

      Putting down a base will be useful, although will wait for the next system as the current system not much used. A system with a source of Uranium would be nice. Not a fan of haulers, would be good to find a A class explorer as I really like the cockpit visibility. Will have to spend some time searching for crashed ships.

      @@StephenSilverbeard You miss my point WRT haulers, which was that they're worth more as scrap than the other types Most Sentinel ships have good visibility, & none need to be fixed up after claiming. Now you have your Adv Mining you could consider that as your next system stop

      @@StephenSilverbeard You're currently in a Korvax system, so MTs are available for free from some Monoliths; if you fly to a Vykeen system you can get broken ones from some NPC interactions/quests from eg minor settlements (so look for beacon antennae). Otherwise you'll have to pay from eg space station or minor settlement boxes.. but it'll prolly only cost you 1 or maybe 2 scrapped ship's worth for a decent one

    I feel you gain XP way too quickly for where you actually are in your progress in the game. I have completed the solo UCH mission so I completed all I wanted to do. The end game completion for this beta is to get neo to build and complete a starter capital ship. I am not sure how far I want to go further into the game as eventually they will do a reset or wipe as the scenario gets updated. I think I want to do an Akua start next time. The Omicron was interesting and a bit more difficult as a start. I had to build an HV on Omicron to keep from over heating during the day. Water is more important in Omnicron starter. You can get cactus that provide hydration like water. On Akua start or a more temperate start then an SV would be better to start off with. I brought in the Scarab SCM to handle mining and to have an SV to go into space.

      Would like to see the main mission extended to include the late game elements, such as Finding the legacy. The problem is the late game challenges are not connected to the main story, so many players (me included are not aware of the options), Have to watch Spanj to get hints about what is out there.

      Feel Vermillion is expanding the role of trading, such as adding the ability to buy heavy armour, optronic bridges, etc. This gives a reason to both trade and complete minor missions.

      Unfortunately not enough CPU for a turret, due to a piece of luck plan to spend the next part preparing for the trip to the moon, Just been watching Jason Plays speculating at the possibility of an update for NMS. Seems Sean Murry has sent out a planet emoj, Jason seems to be torn between a NMS update and a trailed for 'Light No Fires'. Hoping for a trailer as do not have the time for another update, let alone a new expedition. :))

    Don’t forget about the constructor down the ramp from OK medical. The merchant that stands beside it sells upgrades for weapons. Also don’t forget if you have Zirax weapons you want to sell there is a Zirax merchant up the stairs in the hanger bay, through the door and down the elevator 1 level.

    Zero G combat is fun. I have to say the person making these missions did a great job. Made the mission interesting for sure. Then the suspense and such build up stuff to getting a visit by the enemy in a spaceship while you are in just a suit.

      The new version is a big improvement on the older one, where the pirates would suddenly spawn behind the player. Reducing the distance between the satellites makes a big difference as well. Looking forward to playing the mission.

      Finding optronix bridges in loot often come down to luck, although they can be obtained as part of the mission rewards. Another good source is from base CPU extenders found in some POIs.

    Are you planing on using horse wagons? I know they are not as effective, but from a roleplay perspective, steam trucks were a very rare sight. I know that they are more effective and make it easier, but I would apriciate a few horses :) Nonetheless I very much appreciate the series, and look forward to more episodes

    You just scrapped an intact S-class shield module in that Explorer :( Use the Dioxite & buy some Pyrite for your suit & ship fuel respectively: it takes less of those to fill your tanks than if you use Oxygen & Tritium Consider buying a heat protection module (if available ofc) before you visit the Activated Copper planet, to help with the extreme storms you'll find there

    I think I won't play DLC Siberian map. The colour gamut is absolutely dreadful and depressing. On top of that 7 months winter would make me hate this game after an hour. I do like the challenge of harsh weather but I will stay away from this DLC, I don't want to end up hating my favourite city builder of all times.

      Have to admit having a few seconds thoughts, the problem is the long winters coupled with the day/night cycle does make it feel depressing. In addition the short summers is making recording t difficult when it comes to planning. At the moment planning to skip recording the winters as it consists of watching slow moving wagons going up and down roads. Plan to keep going for the moment, but if things go wrong will restart using the Grand Designs (1900) map as this was the original map for the series.

    Just a slight reminder that footpaths do not affect road building anymore. This has been in place since the 0.9 path. Even if the road has multiple path connections, it will be upgraded as one piece. But you need to select the whole piece to be upgraded and not piece by piece.

    Vermilion made a comment in one of Spanj's livestreams that all mission POI's are now admin cored to keep them from getting screwed up. Meaning you can't salvage them. But the Zirax com station (mission) on the moon has a lot of highend salvage who can't get. Its not a super tough POI other than getting into it as they teach you about Zirax spawners once in. That being said you don't get to salvage 6 base cores, a small fusion reactor and a host of other stuff.

      Makes sense to give missions POIs admin cores, have messed up a mission a couple times due to getting ahead of the curve. Will push forward with the missions to check out the com station, will be interesting what type of loot is available.

    Headshots are much easier with the shotgun at short range.. and if you get it right you can kill 8 infesters in a row.. Salvaging the 'loot containers' gives electronics, mechanical components, and steel plates (unless its changed). If you've followed Jeff Randall's series he has an 'ultra cheap' base, which is basically a 'square' formed by windows(on the outside of the base square) and Industrial containers(12 in the slight redesign - see his workshop updates video), and designed to be dug into a mining hole. The better demo for it is on the 'Anvil' playthrough where he dig it into the side of a mountain. Should be really easy to recreate in creative and then spawn in - might solve, at least temporarily, your storage issues.

    I had to work up the nerve to enter that creepy abandoned scary poi. I used the drone to scout a lot. Still I got poisoned by something. Most likely it was a blue spider that got me. I tell you I had to lay off these creepy places foe a couple days before I could work the nerve to enter another. These places are not like the vanilla game. They are much more creepy.

      In a container at the end of the solo UCH mission it has a bunch of small bridges and four large bridges. So it's totally worth doing the solo UCH mission. Tons of loot between the Titan and the enemy base you attack.

      The problem with early starts is the speed of the vehicles, this both limits the distance the can travel both to construct buildings and supply goods. Everything happens much slower, so need to present a challenge, but at the same time avoiding excess building times. On my first early start map it took 15 years to build a viable first town, which proved frustrating and eventually I gave up as there was no fun in having a small town after 25 year of gameplay. When planning an early start map need to strike a balance between presenting a challenge and not frustrating the player while they wait several months while a single truck delivers a load of steel to construction site. For this reason I place 'core' villages within 1 km of a border post and near water, e.g. a coast line, to deal with sewage disposal. Once the starter villages are placed I plan the map by trying to estimate the progress against time, for example, places for new towns when the date reaches 1960. Tip: when considering map features look at it from both a design and player perspective. The border can be changed in cheat mode by enabling the terrain editor. Although based on my experience editing borders in the terrain editor would not recommend it. The border has to remain a 'loop' with no crossing points and accidently clicking on the map when in the border edit tool can produce unexpected results. Moving the border even slightly away from customs posts will invalidate them, so will need to check they are still working after the edit. The edit tool can be temperamental when trying to move points over high mountains and deep water. When planning a map, rough out the terrain, then put in the border before doing the terrain detail. Only when this is finished are the customs offices placed. When creating an early map I find it helps to regularly step back and ask how I would play the map. Hope this gives an overview of the process.

      This is possible by using the 'make default' option, this reverts the border back to the default square, the downside is all the current custom offices will have to be removed and replaced. One potential problem is the top border may slice through the village, so will need to drag the border out to move it into the play area. If that works it would make the top left hand corner an interesting ship only start. Hope it works out well and makes an interesting challenge.

    Just got the game, very much a beginner :). I found the tutorials very vague. I found it impossible to reach my 50 day of self-sufficiency. I only got up to 1. I gave up in the end I was not too sure what was going on

      The self sufficiency requirement is an odd one, what it means is the food, clothes and alcohol have to be produced by the factories, then supplied to shop for distribution to the shop and pub. To do this need to get enough workforce in the factories to produce the items, then set up a distribution system to deliver them. The first problem is reducing the auto purchase in the shop and pub to a minimum, keep just enough to keep the population happy if something goes wrong. Then set up a distribution office to deliver the food, alcohol and clothes from the factory to the shops, when doing this set the delivery requirement to 90% as this will fill the storage in the shop and pub overriding the auto purchase . Let the game run, monitor the factories to see if they are producing enough to fulfil the needs, Will need a regular workforce in each factory, e.g. 10 - 20 workers, if there are not enough workers consider building extra residential buildings and bringing in more more workers. If the days keep resetting check the economy tab to see if the any clothes, food and alcohol are being purchased. It may take some time for things to settle down, so give the game time to run. Hope this helps.

Can I ask , In this campaign tutorial, as you know I have a farm (10 small fields). I believe this setup only produces crops at a particular time of year. So in turn, my Food factory can not produce food at a constant rate for trucks to distribute. Am I right in thinking in this tutorial that I have to have my farm auto purchase crops at a certain amount from outside as well for a constant supply for factories?. In actual gameplay, is it the intention of the player to build enough farms that you produce enough surplus to supply your stores until the farms to produce crops again next year?       Crops have many uses in the game beyond making food and alcohol, so building farms and more importantly moving crops to the factory is a key challenge of the game. To keep the factories busy while waiting for the next harvest it may be necessary to import crops from the customs office by train.

    Too late now, but IMO you should have scrapped the damaged C-class ship shield, which would've given you a wiring loom to allow you to build the teleport receiver :( Also, wandering around a cold planet with run-down cold protection & dioxite in your pocket is a waste of sodium/cobalt! :(

      Habits can be hard to break, tend to use ion batteries when I have a stockpile, use the dioxite for quick top ups. In the next part will need to stock up on doxite to repair the ship, :))

      Keep forgetting to pick it up, the trap I keep falling into is when wifi to using temporary storage on the crashed ship. When the core is picked up it is placed there, not in the personal inventory.

    Very cool. Something for me to look forward to..meeting the UCH fleet. Finding your people. That is a cool UCH science expedition ship. I am getting to the point where I can get a CV now. If I try to build one myself it ends up requiring large bridges and such. I still haven't found any neo. None on the starter planet and none on the moon. I am looking at salvaging wrecks now to get neo from and engines I find. RE2 is very different from vanilla...it's much harder.. rare resources are more difficult to find.

      Neo is always in short supply the best early sources are loot boxes and traders. This makes retrieving complete thrusters the key to building a CV, although that seems to have changed in Reforged Eden 2.
