that headlight is kinda 'meh' for me like the rear light tho.. but why not showing the engine bay?? and why not open all the door?? i wanna see everything
I saw the Top Gear video on this and you can't see the engine at all. It's like the Porche Cayman on that it has a rear trunk despite being mod-engined.

Well...it's a McLaren that you can actually daily drive and is somewhat practical. It has more trunk space than a Giulia (without the bench folded over)
I didn't expect McLaren to build a GT car at all and quite frankly they didn't. It basically a more comfortable, practical and fancy mid-engined supercar, so i think that's a good thing. They are staying true to themselves. I think it would have been pretty weird if McLaren would have built a front engined car that's well over 2 tons. This isn't the typical heavy luxury boat you usually get.
As much as I like the McLaren brand, why would you buy this over a Continental GT? Beverly Hills will be full of these, it will be a success especially at 164,000
@@A01009aaron I hope you're right!
Oh, and I agree with an earlier post. Had I the money, the Bentley wins by a large margin.
I would be tempted by an S Class coupe, or perhaps a 911.
The duct tail and the broader back is really really awesome.. Just like the Aston Martin. This should be a four seater varient.
they should made this car shootingbrake design
Absolutely that would be such a gtc4lusso killer
Have there been mid-engined Shooting Brakes before?
@@raghavsundar8253 Not GTC 4 Lusso but the GTC with the V8 maybe.
@@joshuanishanthchristian5217 Now's a good time to start. 🤣
Bruce Kim then it wouldn’t be this car
The new mid engine C8 Corvette looks a bit like this..but side air intake is much better on the Corvette..plus front look of the Corvette looks better. Wheels better on Corvette. You can get 2 golf bags in a Corvette and bags in the front. Door cards and seats better looking in the Corvette. 8 speed dual clutch in Corvette ( not 7). 0-60 mph in UNDER 3 seconds for the Corvette for base price $60,000 ( compared to £160,000 for the mclaren)..oh dear..mclaren you have been embarrassed.
Those wheels look like they come from cheap turkish wheel manufacturer... I know/assume they are up to date with them in terms of quality but they look cheap.
Beautiful camera, lens, and editing work evidenced by the quality of the shot at 7:08.
Does it come with "adaptive cruise control" & massaging seats? A bit more "ride quality" doesn't make a proper GT car.
That's Rolls Royce territory. Only Rolls Royce is allowed to do that.
@@hexaflux9486 acc is found on almost everything now
okumonux define gt car then
@@SteelRoninTT Unfortunately it isn't; you can't get a DB11 (which is supposed to be the "ultimate GT car" with ACC...
ACC in America is a joke, just pay attention and time your overtakes. It also helps keep you alert not having the car do everything. I’m not sure how well ACC works abroad.
Would be hard to ignore that Bentley interior.
It's majestic piece of Art which is heart melting when you lay your eyes on it!
1:09 : So this refined luxury GT car accelerates as fast to 62mph as the legendary bare bones McLaren F1! Think about that for a moment!....
We have luxury sedans that can do the same, even the fast SUVs are not that far..
Times have changed... you have 7 seater minivans that will smoke this and the F1 in 0-60 (Model X P100D 0-60 in 2.8, for example). This car isn’t about 0-60 now is it though?
What about up to 240? Lots of clever engineering these days to get cars off the line quickly, from hatchbacks to supercars. Remember the F1 did it all without turbos, too.
You may hate me: but isn't it the same car again and again?
Did you watch the video lol
I believe it is the same monocoque. Am i right?

Mclaren is straight trash on repeat.
@@Bombast-A-Blasta Nah nah. I'm not sure about the trash part. I think its beauty - but on repeat, yes. I'd take the medal though, my friend. :D
It's really nice, they did a great job on it.
Those back lights are absolutely stunning! Best part of the car in my opinion.
that headlight is kinda 'meh' for me
like the rear light tho..
but why not showing the engine bay?? and why not open all the door?? i wanna see everything
It's likely that the engine and interior haven't been fully developed yet.
i dont think you can see the engine bay since it’s replaced as cargo space
I saw the Top Gear video on this and you can't see the engine at all. It's like the Porche Cayman on that it has a rear trunk despite being mod-engined.
I'm very happy to see a new GT car, it's a brilliant concept and I'm interested to see how it will be met by customers. Best of luck to McLaren!

GT should be front engined and preferably powered by a turbine like V12.
Why? Because that's how they did it before?
Says who? The current crop of GT cars are all front-mid engined anyway. So there's nothing wrong with having it rear-mid mounted and a V8 twin turbo is perfectly fine and can provide the same or even better performance.
Park this up next to a Continental GT and ask your (none car loving) partner which one they'd rather go on a long trip in. It won't be the noisy, low, wide sill, little storage space car and road trips without women are what motorbikes were invented for.
@@ChocolateFrog Yeah, because of course you have already done a back to back comparison between this, the Bentley and the Aston and found out those things about it? Nah I didn't think so.
i really cannot understand why this channel doesn't have 2m subs. Amazing video again!!!
Yeah right.
McLaren needs to work on reliability.
Yeah, but you know almost all cars won't last a lifetime; factor in that luxury cars are planned to be obsolete.
Especially if it's made in "Britain".
Ace ricafort
You're ignoring the fact that McLarens have a habit of breaking even on reviewers. Matt Pharah states that every time he gets one, the car neglects to recognize the key. Every. Single. Time.
British engineering at it best.
No worse then ferrari ..lambo
I get the feeling that there are a lot of “hold my beer” moments internally when it comes to designing a McLaren XD it’s like they pride themselves in constantly outdoing not just their competitors, but even outdoing themselves...stunning really...
Wow! If I had the money I'd buy this in a heartbeat.
Daniel van den Berg wow I could say that for anything
@OneAboveAll yeah cos all old peoples cars go have 600 bhp can go over 200 mph abd 0 62 in 3.2
Feels good. Much slower than before. Amazing.

Carfection, always the best material.

Well they did say themselves that this car was not going to follow the typical GT rules...
They also launched it in a bright colour again😂 this would look so sleek and classy in grey or silver
M RO no McLaren would go under the radar. Neither would a Bentley or Aston Martin.
Lmao compare this design to a 720 or 570/600 and it's very lowkey design
I agree with you. I know they are trying to be different but I am not all that impressed with their take on it.
It’s demeanour reminds me of the Miura somehow. There is something so cool about supercars that don’t shout about how powerful they are. Thumbs up from me, McLaren!
One of the best looking McLaren's in my opinion. I love that paint job too
Pushing and pulling focus during an interview? Give that man a medal.

Yep the car is perfect for a bank.. nothing to see here Mr police officer..
One word beautiful. That's not a car but a piece of art.But to be a true practical GT car we must know more about cockpit's niches and places for phones sunglasses and small bags. That info will be interesting too.
this is all wonderful and all buy i think they should take it slow with car releases, the 650s is still insane, and count how many models are out since then
BEAUTIFUL CAR! it's the British answer to Ferrari's 812 and such a refreshing take on the whole GT concept.
Bentley Continental GT anyday
Excellent video and extremely interesting interview. Spot on
This is quickly replacing the 12C as my favourite McLaren. Hopefully it's a great daily driver. Maybe one day...
I had the opportunity to drive the 12C for a 24hr period. That car was so good! Beautiful, fast, and a head turner. I used to wonder why anyone would spend the amount of money for these cars. After driving the 12C, I understood why.
@@JacesOwnWorld Lots of people don't really like the 12C, but I don't get it. In my eyes it looks great, and from everything I've read and watched its a joy to drive. Its also a very original car, with lots of new ideas and unique solutions.
Bruno most of the people who don’t like it have never driven it. It’s a head turner on the road. The one I drove was orange. Beautiful
@@JacesOwnWorld Seeing a car in the flesh definitely changes a lot, many cars that looked meh on screen were amazing IRL. A third dimension and a better sense of scale help a lot.
Although people will call it boring anyway, with many new cars trending away from an elegant design and relying on badly thought out vents and edges instead (the new Ferraris for example)
I've never driven one but it is definitely something I'd love to do some day. At least since noone seems to like them they are depreciating beautifully so I might be able to afford it some bit into the future. Maybe.
Beautiful GT inside and out, can't wait to see a driving and performance review
Best looking McLaren since the F1, by far.
I really like it too, but many others look so nice, like the 600lt, so idk if it's my favorite or not
The intake plenum is the make or break, in how low an engine sits. McLaren did a fabulous job on this GT. The design is one that Bruce McLaren would approve of, if he was alive today.
looks like an F430
A commercial jetliner looks like a commercial jetliner, too... but there's a difference between a Boeing and an Airbus...
Salivating profusely right now!
I LOVE McLaren. Every model, every trim. Simply the sexiest car on earth.
Catchpole looks like the kind of guy who needs to ask his wife's boyfriend's permission to make a car video
Thats the best looking new McLaren. Not too complicated but not too simple. I like it.
7:50 - pause here, for the first ever rear 3/4 view from Mclaren that officially rivals (if not beats) the aesthetics of some Ferraris. observe how from this angle you don't see the traditional "Shark Nose".

Surprised you guys weren't part of the first Supra reviews - looking forward to it
F430 + DB11 + Continental GT = This beautiful McLaren GT
I love the way this sounds, always thought a deeper tone would suit a McLaren more

Well...it's a McLaren that you can actually daily drive and is somewhat practical. It has more trunk space than a Giulia (without the bench folded over)

top kek
The best Carfection presenter by far.
So, you really wanna put your luggage above a 4.0 V8?😭😭
No ice cream I suppose...
Burn me daddy
There's luggage space in the front for heat sensitive items.
The proportions are all sooo wrong 😭 and that colour 🤢

Don’t forget the wheels and mirrors.

wonderful car wonderful video thanks carfection and mclaren
Another gorgeous design. Too bad about the reliability!!
I was definitely in a state of euphoria while watching this video. 😍
As much as I like the McLaren brand, why would you buy this over a Continental GT? It has nowhere near the boot space, two seats less and it has the same spartan McLaren interior just made from better materials. It also looks like a generic Lotus model from the 90ies.
Hell I’d even have the 8 series or S Coupe over this shit.
I really enjoyed the camera work, especially, the selective focus that was used in the in car interview.
Ford GT front meets Lambo Huracan rear/silhouette ....too much copy-paste, not elegant enough for a GT
I wonder if there is a luggage blocker to prevent those golf clubs or anything from flying forward into the windshield.
Cant compete with a Bentley Cont GT on inteior. Mclaren interior still its weakest point.
Sodubo Njapha youve been in one?
@@BehradDavoudi You don't need to sit in a car to be capable of viewing it's interior and listening to reviewers talk about them. take a look at the Bentley's interior: it looks positively bespoke compared to the very plain interior of this mclaren.
@@baller7387Why are people even talking about a sport gt needing to have limousine-class interior when this interior is sufficiently luxury for the purpose it's meant to serve? It's a sport gt/supercar coming from a supercar manufacturer, not a limousine coming from a luxury sedan manufacturer. The Continental and gt both have their compromises so the decision is for those who can afford it, just my opinions.
@@kitkat8986 Here's the thing: they're marketing it as a luxury gt, not a sports gt. So I would argue no, that interior is not anywhere near luxurious enough to compete with the bentley, and it is competing with the bentley. to the guy saying the bentley weighs more: you are missing the entire point of what a gt is and does. gts are not meant to be super agile sports cars, they are supposed to be luxurious cruisers. As such, the Bentley is doing a much better job at being a gt, which the mclaren is supposed to be, than the mclaren.
@@baller7387 I would say for the first McLaren gt car they did a good job now yes they don't compare to the Bentley they should of marketed it as a sport gt instead of a luxury car but you have to give it credit I feel like this car will sell and do good for the brand. in a way this is luxury defined by McLaren they have been known to be simplistic so these materials are luxury far more then what you will find in an average car. think of it as simple luxury and I think that is what McLaren wants to bring to the luxury department.
