IT'S A SALAD TIM! 😤 The more I see this car (in the show rooms) the more I fall in love with it. Maybe I'm getting old but I'm finding it more appealing, I'd still probably pick the 600LT given the chance! I hope in the future McLaren will make a proper GT car with it's own unique monocoque, the way they've reused the current one for the GT and Speedtail is rather ridiculous in my opinion.
I like everything about it except the front. The front looks like an mx5 or any other budget sports car rather than a high end GT car, plus its leading edge is way too high off the ground
@@stephenw5628 I see what you mean but with the day light running lights on it looks much better, and also the GT seems to be the most colour sensitive McLaren of them all, paint choice can really make it or break it (actually the Speedtail fits this category as well). This is actually my favorite McLaren, if only because it looks less like an insect than their other cars. But obviously, McLaren has released far too many “different” but very similar models in too short a time. Almost all McLarens could be just different trim levels of the same model.

As one of the few who owned one, I put 4000 miles on mine in the space of 8 months. It went wrong after the first month, McLaren fixed it quickly, and it was then absolutely perfect. Yes it's not a proper GT but I drove it to the airport every week and it took my luggage. I did a track day and it was great, although the seat isnt the most supportive for being flung around. All in all, it was excellent and didnt lose me money (thanks to a heavy discount on purchase)
I am so happy to support your channel. Everything about every episode is just so objective and entertaining whether it’s the McLaren GT, or a 25 year old Lexus RX300. But you have a humility about yourself that is unfortunately lost in many other RUclips car channels. I appreciate it a lot. I’ll be a long time fan.
I'm left with the suspicion that McLaren are simply building yet more slight tweaks of the same basic car, simply so that rich people will have more vehicles to store in their underground air conditioned vaults. They have, er, *how* many models in their range now? Which are basically indistinguishable in terms of performance, with the possible exception of the manic (and hideously expensive) McLaren Senna? At least if you collect Matchbox toys, you end up with manifestly different vehicles ...
@@william_SMMA ... given that several of McLaren's models are under £200k to buy new, a £750K price tag for the Senna *is* hideously expensive to those outside of a rarefied financial stratum. Factor into the equation that in some markets, the car is now changing hands for MORE than its list price, and the comparison with McLaren's less expensive models puts things neatly into perspective. Admittedly this price tag pales in comparison with the likes of Koenigsegg and Bugatti, but those two companies are already operating on a different plane.
A fancy burger! Fun surprise review by JayEmm. Completely forgotten about this car. Entertaining, spot-on review video and what a good idea to refresh our memories. Thank you.
My Top 3 Requirements for a Grand Touring Automobile. 1) Do the seats fully recline into a sleeping position, for scenic intoxicated napping, no motel value, and for long drives relaxing back. 2) Can the suspension handle the roughest of gravel/dirt roads getting to any destination on the map, while also with quick/fun sporty handling. 3) Is the cargo capacity large enough for a bicycle, camping gear, golf clubs, etc. Because that is what my $3500 Integra delivers, so anything less would be a downgrade.
Hi Jay, Just to share my respect to you with everyone reading the comments. Respect to the work and efforts you are putting in to this YTB channel. Best regards from Serbia!
I think the most enticing/charming thing to me about McLarens is the leanness and focus on performance that is similar proportionally to a superbike. In the sense that if you translate a Bentley CGT to a motorcycle it would fall closer to a K1600 where as this is more like a S1000RR.
It's true from your point of view that the marketing speak about the suspension wasn't quite accurate. The spec changed a bit during development so it might have started with the kinetic (side to side interconnect), but in reality the roll stiffness pressure control wasn't required (the 570GT doesn't have it either). The 12C and 720S have a Z-bar, whereas the cars without Kinetic have a more traditional setup which makes them a bit more 'sincere' in their handling for some drivers. The reason for the GT using dampers and software related to 720S was due to the ability of its algorithm to cope well with damping in roll pitch and diagonal directions in a relatively independent way, which is useful for things like pot-holes, speed humps etc. So the car definitely benefits from that compared to some other brands. Good review overall. It's better than many others. It does annoy engineers when some influencer just slams down a car because it's not as good as some other brand they've been fortunate to test, particularly when they have no idea of the equations involved in most of the ESP and stuff that saves them when their driving is sub-par. I refer readers to a quote from Freddy Mercury (a modestly successful singer/musician) in answer to music critics: " F**k em, what do they know about playing music anyway." Keep up the good work! Look fwd to further drives and reviews.
*In my opinion, it's the best sports car currently on the market:* - It is light in weight at around 1500 kg, which means it is fast around corners. - It has a very nice interior. - It's not overly harsh to drive with comfort. - It has a nice sound system (Bowers & Wilkins) and good noise isolation inside. - It has tons of power, grip, and a superb acceleration (0-60 in 3 seconds). - It has a lot of trunk space for a sports car. - It has a proper steering wheel with paddle shifters rotating with the wheel - the proper way! - It is not too low in terms of ground clearance, and hassle-free on public roads with. - It doesn't have open slits (holes) on the rear windshield, and you can drive it when raining. - It has superb seats which are better than on most sports cars. - It is the car that means business unlike some exotics ($1-3 millions) that only sit in collections. The Ferrari Roma is almost as good as the McLaren GT but it would be a tiny tad heavier and less aerodynamic/less stable = a tad slower around the corners. It also has improper paddle shifters that don't rotate with the steering wheel. On the whole there's little difference between this GT and Roma. Both are superb but the McLaren GT is more appealing to me. Call me crazy but the Ferrari Roma has less comfort than the Jaguar F-type in my opinion. *And I would choose the F-type SVR over the Roma no matter how crazy I may sound!!!*
A GT (especially from a niche manufacturer) needs to have a beautiful CLASSIC design in my opinion. Not many manage to do that. I'm also one of these people who wants a GT to have a front engine and a proper trunk. Calling it a salad might have actually worked better. You're approaching it from a different perspective. A more comfortable supercar is something many people could use, if you wanna have a McLaren but the 720S is too hardcore.
Its a Dogs Dinner Tim ! Seriously though, if I wanted a GT it would probably need a more luxurious and *quiet* cabin, with a load of poke, and preferably AWD. Which is why I bought a Bentley Continental GT over this. Nothing much wrong with this Mclaren except I don't think it should be marketed as a GT, and should have been promoted as a softer edged daily supercar .. or something else, just not a GT !! Personal taste and all that.
Normal people are not excited by McLaren anymore because they have one styling language so the don't look that different from one another and the same mid engine twin turbo v8 layout and too many models to remember.
I live in Southern California near Dana point, and it goes without saying that I see an exorbitant amount of supercars all the time; I have NEVER seen a Mclaren GT, even parked. I have literally seen a Mclaren p1 *DRIVING* in Irvine, at least a couple LFAs, 488 pistas, and a parked Veyron (no, not at cars and coffee) - it really shows me how much of a failure this car is when I can count more Aventador SV/SVJs and 765 LTs that I've seen than it.
Three things any high end Grand Tourer needs. 1: They need to look expensive, classy and elegant. To my eyes, the McLaren GT does not look expensive, classy or elegant. 2: They need to be very smooth, refined and able to do long journeys without being taxing to drive. You just don't want an engine right behind you on any long motorway journey. Instead of going for convenience, just do what all the other manufacturers of grand tourers do and make it front engined. 3: Space and comfort. They've elongated the body of a 570 GT, yet you would still have more space and comfort in an Aston Vanquish, an 812 SF, a Roma, any Bentley Continental or a Panamera Turbo S. What McLaren did here, was to produce yet another supercar, but one that will appeal to a more mature customer. People like genuine variety, not the same thing but with a reworked body. A proper grand tourer should drive and feel a million miles away from any supercar.
The thing is.........I really like it! More usable because its not 1 inch off the floor. I like the air inlets at the side. In fact if you look at the back of the new MC20 they look like they came from the same designer!
The GT looks great imo but with Mclaren’s reliability issues and being told by a dealer recently it had improved when they had three cars with corrosion for sale I don’t know if I’d trust it and be wanting to spend that much for it.
You're my favorite (and I hope you know there are alot of us out here who value you for your honesty, intellect and your dry humor). Please remember that. Anyway... BIG NEWS (old and new). Based on your review, I decided NOT to order the GT several years back when I had the opportunity (biding my time with my 2020 Aston Martin GT and then a 2023 911 Carrerra 4GTS cabriolet). However, last year, I decided that SALAD or NOT, I am going to and indeed ordered the 1st 2025 McLaren GTS in the United States (which landed in Baltimore last week). I will be picking it up in Dallas this week. I am hoping that McLaren addressed all of the issues that were problematic with the GT as I do love the look and specs of this car over all of the other McLarens. In fact, it will be first McLaren ever. Look forward to your review of the GTS soon and if you find yourself in the Dallas Texas area you are more than welcome to drive this one for your review. Cheers.
You will love it. Also -all of the huge cost maintenence issues with the hydraulic suspension, cracking glass etc. of the 720 have been removed. The limits of this car can't be reached on regular roads.
I bought one of these recently, identical to your review car actually. It's a very impressive cruiser, comfortable (to a degree) and good fun when the road situation allows. To be honest you have to be a tad dim to listen to and believe any marketing babble from any company. Go and look at one, test drive it and figure it out yourself if it's where your money should go.
I recall when I rented a 2019 570S Spider that there was an occasional knocking sound coming from the right side of the car. It was almost like a seatbelt buckle banging around but I did look in that area and found nothing. Perhaps it was part of the suspension.
When I rented a nearly new 570S Spider, I too noticed a bit of knocking coming from the rear of the passenger seat. At first I thought it was the seatbelt but it seemed to be coming from behind the rear corner panel.
I really wanted to like this but the front and in particular the valance is just too high. If they reworked the bottoms front end, to me it would look so much better
None of the mclaren range really interests me apart from this one ! I think it’s their best look g car by far . I know it’s not a proper GT bit I find it very appealing only problem I have with it is it’s totally unaffordable 😡
Two things that REALLY stood out to me when I drove it: 1. The steering was absolutely spot on. In this segment (Ferrari, Aston, etc), the others aren't even close. Even when you start talking about the "sportier" versions like the F8 they don't have the same combination of feel and "pointability." They are venturing into Lotus territory with this one. 2. Jay was it just me, or are they pedals incredibly close together? For whatever reason, on the day I was driving this car, I was wearing flip-flops (I know, I know). I actually had to take them off and drive in bare feet because my foot would cover both pedals otherwise and it was scaring the shit out of me. Otherwise, I thought it was a really, really fun car to drive. An absolutely gorgeous car to look at. The boot "space" is nice but the numbers they give you are somewhat irrelevant as it is basically linear space that is essentially on a display rack once you place it in there. Although there are anchors for tie-downs, anything one places in the bootspace (as you mentioned) simply becomes a projectile in any sort of sudden stop and would also scare the shit out of me...especially one of the golf clubs they advertise as fitting in said space!!!! Also, although admittedly it's not the most practical as an "everyday driver", I for one LOVE that McLaren kept its distinctive butterfly doors. To me, it wouldn't be a McLaren without them. Maybe they get to be a bit of a pain, but I think they make the experience unique and remarkable every time you get in and out of one. Perhaps it grows tiresome, but it put a smile on my face on the test drive.
You really know the Maclaren models well! Great review. When one of my projects yields fruit, I will get one of these as my first super/GT car, althouth a Huracan looks sooo much sexier!! The "GT car" category for motorcycles is called "sport tourer". Some with more sport and others better for touring. Since I travel quickly and attack the mountain roads once I get there, I chose the Kawasaki. The performance of my CBR1000RR and Daytona Moto2 is superior, but they'd be pure torture for a trip. As I consider a very long trip, the BMW R 1250 RT is more comfy, but less powerful. All 4 motos will 'only' set you back less than $80,000. I know fellows with over a dozen motos, but the few people I know with supercars have but one. Sure, there are folks who own more than one supercar or GT car, but not many. That's got to be a marketing and engineering nightmare! How many buyers in each category will want one? I wonder how many of these are in garages with versus without other super or GT cars.
I think you hit the nail on the head really. Nobody buys this who's looking at Aston Martin or Bentley. It's for someone who would have been looking at a highly specified 911 turbo. For a very similar price, this would be a lot more special, even if it isn't really a practical GT.
Saw one a couple of weeks ago with a set of golf clubs in it. None poking through the windscreen though!!🤣 I like the idea but if I had the funds I would probably pass the mclaren garage and get a conti gt. Since I am a metal worker without the funds, my ds3 with the rear seat down will have to do!! 🤣
Take ground beef, season with garlic salt, shred and cook for 20 minutes. Shred the slice of cheese and lettuce into a bowl. Slice tomato into small pieces and add to bowl. Cut bun into square pieces and put into oven for 5 minutes until golden brown crouton. Add cooked ground beef, crouton, and salsa into bowl. Voila! A lovely salad that’s delicious and nutritious.
I think this hits a unique market of car buyers. People who like to daily a Turbo S for example, will appreciate this vehicle a lot more than someone who's look at Astons or Bentleys. A Bentley in itself is a boat, you're going to miss the super sport car feel. Astons are meh, in North America they depreciate like hell you can get a v8 vantage for 80k. I don't give them much pedigree and are certainly not head turners like any McLaren, even this one. This car is the perfect compromise of having the striking appeal and sportiness of a McLaren in a daily drivable version. I had a 570s spyder and it was a terrible daily drive in the summer. Short trips and a few rips around and I was done with it for the day. I haven't driven a GT yet, but I would consider one as it seems to perform like a McLaren while giving you the ability to drive it comfortably around town for the day.
God, this has to be the best looking car Mclaren has made. If it were optioned with the good stereo and a sunroof, i could force myself to drive it every day
It's a compromise of a car, but one that I find appealing. I think it actually lives up to it's name quite well, its a McLaren in GT flavour. A full on GT would have lost everything that makes McLaren unique. It is a shame it isn't quite as easy to live with as marketed though.
Here in canada, sometimes people order burgers without the bread. What we do in that case is plop the salad, the sauce, the tomatoes and the pickles in a poutine container, and the meat on top. It's a salad.
Aside from Tim's Salad, the prices on these have come down pretty dramatically when compared to 720S. You get a really impressive performance for 30% cheaper on the secondhand market (at least in the US)
IT'S A SALAD TIM!!!!! Completely agree, they missed the mark by saying it's a GT, not a GT-ed version of a supercar. You just have to see the numbers when compared to the 570GT, which additionally, also looks better IMO
Wonderful car, for me observing the front of this car, the lights seem to be sitting on the car rather than being in the car, the depth of the front bumper makes the balance out of sink, it’s not quite right, much prefer the lighter brighter interior and the press vehicle which was in a Bronze colour with black roof was by far the best colour combination ……. Would I turn this car down …… NOT A CHANCE …….
As always, great video and a gorgeous shirt. Yet, considering that they ofer this in retina burning Orange (saw one from the bus yesterday), it's definitely a burger Tim!
I think the car is fine, but the segment McLaren tried to squeeze it into is the trouble,as James says it's no grand tourer. McLaren should have no worries about weight as such and added a bespoke interior with all the bells and whistles, the chromatic roof self opening and closing doors , thick carpets , bespoke luggage etc and marketed it as the " luxury McLaren" You can still go as fast as many a super/ sports car if you wish, or engage waft mode and add it to your stable of 765 Lt or senna for your every day McLaren.
Not sure it was an Edsel but just another of too many variants within their product line. They build too many variants and production is higher than demand. That hurts value.
iam not going to lie you have a point , ive just bought one and get it on Saturday , this is what I did , I changed its name its now called no es un GT . now I have an amazing car . was going to buy the 600lt but this is amazing car .its 0.3 seconds slower over 0-60 I can live with that and because most are still stuck with the name I got a bargain 😁😁😁
1:49 issue is that these already exist; they're called Lotus. people don't go to Mclaren for a mid-engine miata, they go there to get something stupid like a 720s or a 675lt. there's nothing that this car has that you can't find in a Aston Martin DBS or (if you're the odd one out) a Ferrari GTC4 Lusso
Oh man that looks fabulous in that colour... I've always liked the looks of the GT, but haven't seen one in a colour that really suits it. Needs tan leather though.
Was on the configurator, last night, and I came to the same conclusion; That shade of blue suits it best. The tan leather also looks great but you'd need to keep it off the dash.
Hasn't McLaren basically been making the same car over and over again in slightly different specs for years and calling it different models? At this one looks different I guess.
Same as the Porsche 911 then , the different Mclaren models drive totally differently to each other and to people who know there are quite a few differences to each model.
@@brentpowell7889 Well I can't say I have driven many McLarens but from people's reviews of them I don't exactly get the notion that they "drive totally differently to each other". They all drive like well sorted mid engined, well dampened supercars, they're all more or less in the same ballpark in terms of power (again they all have basically the same engine), they're all about the same size and weight and they all look pretty similar inside and out, and by most accounts they're all really really fast capable cars but also a bit numb and artificial to drive. And yes it is exactly like the 911, a dozen different specs of the same car.
@@BigUriel sorry you are ill informed, very very wrong, there are issues with McLaren’s I have owned them over the last 4 years and still do, they drive totally different from each other, you only have to see the initial reviews of the 600 LT all the motoring journalists tell how different they are to each other. You can’t compare a Carrera S to GT3 RS, same as you can’t compare a 570S to a 600 LT. As for for being dull to drive 🤦♂️, McLaren’s are the most driver focused cars on the market that is a well known fact , you might not like the look etc that’s fine, however they are sensational to drive 👍.
@@brentpowell7889 Like I said I haven't driven them, only going by other people's reviews. I've read/watched quite a few of those about McLarens where they are compared to other supercars and although they may be faster they are often said to be less fun and engaging to drive. I gotta say between a Carrera S and a GT3RS, it's not exactly the same comparison because they have very different engines (unlike McLarens which are all revvy boost heavy turbocharged V8s circa 4 liters). When it comes to the chassis, I would see the GT3 as a highly tuned CS rather than a new car, after all you could realistically take a CS and spend some money of performance chassis mods and make it pretty damn similar to the GT3. It's like saying an M3 Comp is a different car from a regular 3 series. I mean is it really though, or just a higher spec/performance version of the same?
Its definitely a salad, Tim. I haven't driven the car but I like how it looks and I tend to gravitate towards GTs more, the interior is very pretty compared to the rest of the line up. The 720s would be my other contender, but apart from it, this is over any other (not limited) McLaren for me
Why do they make you distracted by having to use a tablet to change the temperature? It’s madness that should be outlawed, rather than promoted as advancement. Also, that interior looks like a specced-out Mazda. I suppose, vanity and stupidity has a price.
I think the biggest problem with this car was their own marketing of the car, it’s a nice looking car and if they marketed it differently than they did it probably would’ve done better
James, you make excellent content and your videos are packed with so much information. I really like this car and together with the 720s, the GT is my favourite looking car they make. I could imagine living with it. It’s so sleek and unfussy. I also like the fact that no-one wants one because it will mean whoever buys one will have a secret gem.
Think about it. Koenigsegg is releasing a hybrid 4-seater before McLaren. Viking approved rear seats. And even with empty battery it will be really efficient and long drive capable. "Yeah but it won't sound like a sympthony of 8 cylinders and you can't fiddle around with gears you select."
I love cars like this, but understand why they don’t sell well. When people are buying a sports/supercar, they want something out there and exciting. Even though a slightly more practical car would be better to own. Some of my favourite cars are sports cars with a hint of GT/daily ability, like the Evora, SW20 MR2, BMW Clownshoe etc
I think it's definitely a salad, Tim;)....still love the McLaren GT though...right what I am looking for, a slightly more daily Supercar, just like the Audi R8!
Not sure why anyone would think a McLaren GT isn’t a proper GT , what about a Ford GT, Porsche Carrera GT,Dino 206 GT, F50 GT, 250 GT, R35 Nissan GT. I could go on like this forever. Best looking McLaren besides the speedtail. I own one and love it!it’s the perfect daily driver super car plus I am getting 24 mpg with my foot in it. With nose lift I can get in and out most places . I have put about 3500 miles in it and I have only lightly scraped the bottom a few times. The power curve is perfect for the street and the ESC will keep you out of a ditch . There are minor quirky electronic things but nothing too wacky . My Tesla has just as many in not more. That shirt makes me think of a fruit salad though,LOL!

This is quickly becoming my fav channel.. interesting, informative and quality selection of vehicles
More info on getting that discount aswell
How much was it?
I am so happy to support your channel. Everything about every episode is just so objective and entertaining whether it’s the McLaren GT, or a 25 year old Lexus RX300. But you have a humility about yourself that is unfortunately lost in many other RUclips car channels. I appreciate it a lot. I’ll be a long time fan.
Good video. Personally this would be my choice of McLaren, to me it’s the cohesive looking model. Love it.
Not hideously expensive though
@@william_SMMA ... given that several of McLaren's models are under £200k to buy new, a £750K price tag for the Senna *is* hideously expensive to those outside of a rarefied financial stratum. Factor into the equation that in some markets, the car is now changing hands for MORE than its list price, and the comparison with McLaren's less expensive models puts things neatly into perspective.
Admittedly this price tag pales in comparison with the likes of Koenigsegg and Bugatti, but those two companies are already operating on a different plane.
also hideous imo
A fancy burger! Fun surprise review by JayEmm. Completely forgotten about this car. Entertaining, spot-on review video and what a good idea to refresh our memories. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching
Hi Jay,
Just to share my respect to you with everyone reading the comments. Respect to the work and efforts you are putting in to this YTB channel. Best regards from Serbia!
100% with you, James. I never got the gt as well. It’s just a softened mclaren, i.e. a mid engined sports/supercar.
And I don’t like how it looks
I never brought one either. Not because it's too soft, but because the most I could afford was a Honda jazz
@@harrisr1018 *bought
I think the most enticing/charming thing to me about McLarens is the leanness and focus on performance that is similar proportionally to a superbike.
In the sense that if you translate a Bentley CGT to a motorcycle it would fall closer to a K1600 where as this is more like a S1000RR.
Am I the only one who prefers leather over alcantara , not sure when or how alcantara became so popular
15:00 - That bit about the orange Mini owners coroner's report is so funny!
Regarding the golf club bag issue, that’s easily solved …. Put the golf bag the opposite direction ?? Golf clubs facing the rear ? Solved ?
I refer readers to a quote from Freddy Mercury (a modestly successful singer/musician) in answer to music critics: " F**k em, what do they know about playing music anyway."
Keep up the good work! Look fwd to further drives and reviews.
*In my opinion, it's the best sports car currently on the market:*
- It is light in weight at around 1500 kg, which means it is fast around corners.
Also the problem with the 720s is your paying almost 150k more for performance you will never reach on the road
Only intellectually-challenged people cannot work it out.
It looks like a car where a child has tried to draw a McLaren from memory. And went to Halfords for the wheels. Awful.
Seems like the same thing that happened with the Lotus Europa S. Trying to turn a hardcore car into a GT doesn’t seem to work well usually.
I actually love it, seen them several times, it's the McLaren I would buy over all the others really.
Really like the GT. Harry Metcalf does an excellent review, thoughtful and very thorough.
Could we get a follow up on ownership with your friends mclarens
The GT looks great imo but with Mclaren’s reliability issues and being told by a dealer recently it had improved when they had three cars with corrosion for sale I don’t know if I’d trust it and be wanting to spend that much for it.
Real supercar has a carbon fibre tub like a McLaren.. others without carbon tub its just a sportscar i guess
And here I thought I knew a few things or two. Thanks for sharing your review and perspective. Right on!🔥
Am I the only person who thinks that looks great?
@Carl Gunderson It could be.
Ya idk why its called a GT
Two things that REALLY stood out to me when I drove it:
I'd certainly take it over a 911 Turbo
I always thought the GT looks very unbalanced from the side. It didn't deserve to fail as much as it did though.
Saw one a couple of weeks ago with a set of golf clubs in it. None poking through the windscreen though!!🤣
I like the idea but if I had the funds I would probably pass the mclaren garage and get a conti gt.
Ive had my GT for 4 months now, daily driver. Fast, and yet pretty comfortable for what it is. Only complaint is electronic glitches.
It’s a stew Tim, not what you want when thinking of a burger but surprisingly nice on a cold winters day
God, this has to be the best looking car Mclaren has made. If it were optioned with the good stereo and a sunroof, i could force myself to drive it every day
Me too, but sadly, because of those reasons, I’m gonna have to pass.
No outro music? I always wait to the end to get those 80s good vibes.
It's a compromise of a car, but one that I find appealing. I think it actually lives up to it's name quite well, its a McLaren in GT flavour. A full on GT would have lost everything that makes McLaren unique. It is a shame it isn't quite as easy to live with as marketed though.
Then again people would just bought the 720S instead. McLaren's lineup at the time is one of the problem on why it doesn't sell well
great vid....can you please start introducing a walk round of the cars. we never get a chance to see your opinion and really look at it.
It's a veggie burger, Tim.
Nice use of vernacular ‘froot’, rather than ‘frunk’ 💪🏼 🇬🇧
Here in canada, sometimes people order burgers without the bread. What we do in that case is plop the salad, the sauce, the tomatoes and the pickles in a poutine container, and the meat on top. It's a salad.
Aside from Tim's Salad, the prices on these have come down pretty dramatically when compared to 720S. You get a really impressive performance for 30% cheaper on the secondhand market (at least in the US)
It looks absolutely horrendous
IT'S A SALAD TIM!!!!!
Completely agree, they missed the mark by saying it's a GT, not a GT-ed version of a supercar. You just have to see the numbers when compared to the 570GT, which additionally, also looks better IMO
Of all (modern) McLaren models this one is most pleasant to look at, i really like more subtle design on this model.
the 765lt is my favorite. Love the wire mesh : )
"out of sync"
@@KevZJ haha cheers …. I just read back what I had written …… perhaps I should have said the front of the car looks like a kitchen sync ! 👍
As always, great video and a gorgeous shirt. Yet, considering that they ofer this in retina burning Orange (saw one from the bus yesterday), it's definitely a burger Tim!
Thank you for this review. Interesting to watch, very informative.
I think the car is fine, but the segment McLaren tried to squeeze it into is the trouble,as James says it's no grand tourer.
McLaren should have no worries about weight as such and added a bespoke interior with all the bells and whistles, the chromatic roof self opening and closing doors , thick carpets , bespoke luggage etc and marketed it as the " luxury McLaren"
You can still go as fast as many a super/ sports car if you wish, or engage waft mode and add it to your stable of 765 Lt or senna for your every day McLaren.
the rear reminds me of the Hurracan
You're on yer own there Tim
Not sure it was an Edsel but just another of too many variants within their product line. They build too many variants and production is higher than demand. That hurts value.
iam not going to lie you have a point , ive just bought one and get it on Saturday , this is what I did , I changed its name its now called no es un GT . now I have an amazing car . was going to buy the 600lt but this is amazing car .its 0.3 seconds slower over 0-60 I can live with that and because most are still stuck with the name I got a bargain 😁😁😁
This is my first time watching this guy but he is such a great journalist .
This one will have the quicker lap times, comfortably quicker.
James...from far away or up close squinting that shirt looks like the album cover for UFO's incredible "Strangers in the Night" release🤘
My biggest complaint with the GT is the vertical infotainment screen, it completely ruins the entire car.
Good grief.
Originally came here for the Lotus content
Stuck around for the honest opinions
Keep at it Jay
It's the same thing I was asking myself earlier this week why isn't there more footage, coverage or praise about the GT
I’ve seen a couple on the road and it’s a definite neck cranker. I think the GT badge put people off
Hasn't McLaren basically been making the same car over and over again in slightly different specs for years and calling it different models?
15:07 that, somehow, has never occurred to me. Quite a bit of boxes will need to be ticked when filling out insurance claims.
Its definitely a salad, Tim. I haven't driven the car but I like how it looks and I tend to gravitate towards GTs more, the interior is very pretty compared to the rest of the line up. The 720s would be my other contender, but apart from it, this is over any other (not limited) McLaren for me
Tim ? Did you think you were on Shmee’s channel
@@charlie1832 watch the full video
@@comeberza I was just coming to comment that , I commented a little too soon
Why do they make you distracted by having to use a tablet to change the temperature? It’s madness that should be outlawed, rather than promoted as advancement. Also, that interior looks like a specced-out Mazda. I suppose, vanity and stupidity has a price.
Tim, it's clearly a small off-duty Czechoslovakian traffic warden.
Sick shirt..my fav Mac is the 570s..if i want a gt car I'd buy a bentley GT
That is an amazing shirt. Video & shirt combo = very entertaining.
I think the biggest problem with this car was their own marketing of the car, it’s a nice looking car and if they marketed it differently than they did it probably would’ve done better
4000 miles!!!! Quite the Passat. I loathe McLarens but I do like this man's vids. Great stuff.
Looks great from behind, but you can keep the “f430 hit with the ugly-stick” front though…..
Yknow I'd never heard anything about McLaren reliability until I found this channel, never would have even thought about it.
IT'S A SALAD TIM!
And I'm in love with that wheel design.
Yep, I also have a tendancy to drift towards the unloved
Nothing wrong with this car
Older people like me this is top drawer and in time will become very popular
Get ready to eat your words
A very understated design for a McLaren but quite good looking. A shame they missed the mark with this though.
Yeah I mean you could say it's a salad Tim
