This update is the worst in android history I'm going back to 11.
so true I like Android 11 so much better 12 looks so bad
How to go back 😭😭😭😭🙏pls tell me
@Master Minds heh
@Master Minds ha bro sahi kaha
@Master Minds ha bhai 😭
Android 12 is genuinely the worst os update i've ever seen. Not only does it look ugly but it just makes everything HARDER for no reason. Why google?????
My biggest gripe is the huge 4 digits of the clock on the lock screen as it covers my screensaver photo, and there's no way to change this on Android 12.
@@urbanfireblade and the worst thing about Android 12 is the battery drain issue. I just downgraded today just for that problem
android 12 is ghastly
@@urbanfireblade the huge 4 digit clock thing drives me insane
It drains my battery even AFTER turning on Battery Saver and turning off the "always on" screen. It also makes my phone crash a lot; opening apps, making phone calls, texting, etc... It has essentially bricked my Google Pixel 3. I will be attempting this roll back ASAP.
The title is wrong it should say how to upgrade from 12 to 11
Just had 12 pushed on my Pixel 5 and it completely ruined the experience. So glad I can go back to 11 using this method.
Did it work out?
@@kw2183 Yes, it does wipe your device, so back everything up. But, I was unable to use this method!! Maybe 4a is different??
@@bynkro It did not work for you? I have a 4a.
@@mrlobolobo9063 when I enter bootloader mode on 4a, it says "device state: locked", and doesn't give the option to run the bootloader or flash the device. :/
@@bynkro Same for me, thanks.
I wanna cry, why did I do this update.... oh my god
@@kw2183 You won't if you backup using Google.
@@mattcleary85 bro can you tell me how?
You're not alone, android 12 fudged up my phone
Mee tooo broo
Me bro its so lagging 😥
I hate android 12 with a passion. It's completely ruined the experience of my Pixel 4a. They didn't even bother to detail the UI changes in the menu that pops up before update. Had I known the UI was going to change so drastically, I would've stayed on 11
I feel the same, Wish it was simple to get back
@@viniciusgonzaga9743 do know how to go back?
@@comradeicez2863 Watch the video
Kind of important: At 3:55 you mention re entering 'fastboot flashing unlock' for the final time to lock the bootloader, but I believe you meant to say 'fastboot flashing lock'. I guess it's obvious, but it had me puzzled for a bit haha
Oh god I followed what he said and continued to find no unlock gdi
Lifesaver my man, thanks so much. Android 11 was reasonably clean, 12 was an absolute mess. Make sure to turn off 'automatic updates' in developer tools as well...
@@MsRocksa click on build number for 6 times and you'll unlock developer tools
@@MsRocksa you're welcome!
Android 12 is such a UI piece of trash. Why are the icons SO HUGE? I'm not 80 yrs old. I don't need these quarter size icons. What Android 11 had worked just fine and was far more efficient.
agree. horrible ui
Yeah. I don't need it to say Bluetooth next to the Bluetooth icon or internet next to the WIFI icon.... I know what they mean. I also don't need the giant letters popping up when I type on the keyboard... I know what I am typing and how to proof read
And why do I not have just a quick button to able or enable my data? Why can't I tell on the top of the screen if my phone is on loud or on vibrate? All my apps keep crashing but I mean basic things like messenger.. I literally just couldn't go on the emoji tab yesterday without restarting, then I have to restart the phone when I turn on the flash because I can't turn it off in any other way?? I have my alarm on for my boyfriend's epilepsy tablets and the alarm didn't go off in the morning so he missed it by a whole hour.. what the fuck is this unreliable trash?
Thanks for the tutorial. I did manage - eventually - to revert back to 11 on my beloved Pixel 3a 🖤But not without some glitches along the way. As quite a few people mentioned below, not having the Google USB Driver was a blocker in getting the bootloader unlocked.
Ever since Android 12 arrived, I've been experiencing charging issues, whereby charging would switch on and off on a loop (well, I hope it was due to 12, we'll see) and yesterday out of nowhere it just shut down, citing inability to load Android system due to possibly "corrupt data" and requiring factory data reset. And then again. Not to mention its atrocious outlook.
Since then I've gone back to 11. And disabled automatic system updates via Developer options. Would that be enough to prevent Android 12 from sneaking up on my Pixel again?
I upgraded my phone to the public release of 12 and wow what a let down. Massive battery drain, my games freeze up while I play them, and many subtle features that I liked in 11 were changed for the worse. I don't want to wipe my phone to downgrade. Very disappointed.
i was on the same boat and months later i can't stand it anymore and i'm rolling back to 11. 12 is just so bad
Same. My phone too when i play game it get frezze
I wouldn't mind wiping it, if only I could just be freed from this hell, it's so damn infuriating
when try to run fastboot flashing unlock, i got message waiting for any device. what should i do?
also on my phone i got fastboot mode screen with option start, restart bootloader and etc
Beta has been an absolute mess for me on my Pixel 5. I'd say the majority of my apps crash on launch.
Yep, on pixel 4 as well
Same on the pixel 4a, even youtube isn't optimised.
same :( unfortunate bc i like the UI changes its just half of my apps dont work lol...
Same for me (pixel 3)
Yeah, it was horrible
Pixel just forced this on me so thanks for posting this video but A.Y.F.K.?! Does anyone else think there should be a class action suit against Google to stop them dictating how our lives look?
If they shove this ugly UI on us in the long-term, just leave. Vote with your dollars
And the Google clock, it was so much more aesthetically pleasing and they just turned it into such trash...
@@epicisdan With zero customization or ways to change it.. because as their tagline says, this is all about YOU.
Thank you for this. Android 12, with regards to the user experience and aesthetics, has taken a step back in the wrong direction. Android 11 was as polished as it could get and 12 absolutely ruined that progress.
I was so excited to install Android 12 on my Pixel 3 immediately without doing homework on how it would actually perform or look. What a huge mistake. Thankfully this method allowed me to roll back.
Did it work? You have already unlocked bootloader before this video?
Same. I hate Android 12 it's just laggy and horrible in literally every aspect. I'm having lots of problems and random freezes which they were not existing in Android 11 on my Pixel 4a.
Screw Google for this
Hey look! It’s people who feel like me and found this video! 12 sucks big donkey d on pixel 4a 5G
Please share the experience if you've downgraded to 11 from 12
the only reason i installed android 12 is cuz i was under the impression that each software update helps with bugs and overall performance but it's literally did nothing.. the only purpose of android 12 seemed like it was to completely change all the visuals, for some reason and now im stuck with it cuz i dont have a computer or any of the things to change it back to android 11
I've learned never to accept an update to a new OS without thoroughly reviewing it first. Usually I do but I guess I got comfortable. What a mistake. Android 12 is so bad in so many ways. I've tried but I am tired of the issues. Going back to 11 where life was better. Thanks for this guide!
I didn't even accept it, it did it last night when my phone died snd I'm fuming bc I wouldn't have accepted and have been rejecting it for months!
@@analeasejac4703 same thing here
I feel you, apps are crashing, some customization features are unavailable and it's just slowwwwwww
@@His_Weirdness true. my phone that is completely have no issues starting to have issues when i upgraded to android 12
Dude same. I almost always review first but somehow for Android 12 I just got complacent and said "surely it'll be fine". And of course on this particular time it was by far the worst system "upgrade" I've ever seen. The design, the bugs, the performance, literally everything is affected.
This really helped, thanks.
Something not mentioned, in case anyone else gets stuck like I did, if the bootloader says locked type "fastboot flashing unlock" to unlock it and proceed.
If any of you wondering about going back from stable android 12 to 11, yes it works like a charm.
Thank God
Hello, how about restoring data from Google One after downgrading? Did you restore it successfully? In one page I found this note: "Important: You can't restore a backup from a higher Android version onto a phone running a lower Android version."
I am thinking about downgrading to 11 as 12 is just rubbish, but I'm affraid I won't be able to restore app data etc.
@@modestap PLEASE SOMEONE ANSWER THIS QUESTION
@@audreyrenedigenova so?
Maybe a stupid question, but if you revert to 11 from 12, can you still get the latest security updates and other updates without going to 12? I have a Pixel 3 XL and 12 is the last version of Android that the phone will support, but there are some security updates that came out after 12 was pushed, and I'd like to still get those while on 11 if possible. On a related note, will Google keep trying to push me 12 if I revert to 11?
Okay I keep getting stuck at adb reboot bootloader doing absolutely NOTHING for the pixel. Nothing happens
This video is amazing!! My Pixel 3 is having the bootloop/call 911 issue with Android 12, so I've been trying to use the android dev pages to roll back to Android 11 for hours... Your video got it done in about 10 minutes 😄
Help! Accidentally "upgraded" to Android 12 and trying to roll back now. All steps are good until we actually load the bootloader screen on the Pixel 4a. It doesn't show what it shows on the video - instead of "unlock the bootloader" it only says "restart the bootloader", "rescue mode", etc. At the bottom it says "Device state: locked" despite doing all steps in developer mode. Therefore unable to flash the device. Anyone else stuck here?

Did you ever find a solution to this?

@Brett Kho @Day Light I just solved it doing it myself. You need to install google usb driver. Either search how to unlock bootloader or this video explained it for me ruclips.net/video/Px_vJZH5oKU/видео.html
Would be nice if you include in your titles that these are Google Pixel specific guides...
You say first thing "You've installed the android 12 developer preview" but.. I didn't install a "preview", I got the actual Android 12 installed. Does that count too?
Like I just installed the new update on my phone and I hate it with a passion. This video applies to me too..?
Most of my apps don't work, keeps telling me app stopped working.....
My Google pixel 4a 5G seems to drain battery quicker on Android 12... And some of the features like simply turning your media volume up and down when using a web browser with the side buttons don't work like that anymore.. I also used to hold power button to get Google pay up, now I have to lock my phone, wake it then click the card symbol on the bottom right. Android 11 was better imo.
You missed the part about to install the Google Driver which is very IMPORTANT.
thank you so much for this guide. I upgraded my pixel 5a to 12 and hated it. now I have my 11 back!!
I've done this all the way up to the last step, where when I try to start the phone it goes to a screen with the android logo laying down and the words "no command" written underneath. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Great tuturial. Left my P5 with 12 but downgarded my 4XL to 11. Hopefully battery life will be better...
I'm getting that my pixel can't even recognize my battery on this update. I have the Pixel 4 XL
I tried the same method on my Pixel 3. After `flash-all` command, I again booted into a fresh Android 12. Why and how can I fix ?
"waiting for any device" cant find my pixel any help?
I dont have a Unlock the bootloader option. Once i put in the second command it states waiting for device. Pixel 3xl Everything else has been done the same
I can't get his to work. Once the process gets to sending sparse package 1/9 the phone reboots into fastbootd mode and then after it sends the rest of the sparse packages 9/9 i get a "failed" message. And when i restart the phone it directly goes back into fastboot mode.
Where is the 'Developer Options'? I tapped the system build thing several times and got the pop up like the video, but I do not have 'Developer Options' anywhere in my settings!
I am either really smart or really dumb. I backued up, opted out of the beta, system>check for updates and installed Android 11. Then restored the backup. No need for PC at all.
Can you elaborate? I want to do the same but this PC stuff is so confusing. Do i go to the website and opt out of beta then check for updates? That quickly?
@@TheStarlight6705 correct. Don't forget to backup your phone via the backup settings and "backup now" to drive.
Go to the beta site, opt out, give it a few minutes and check for updates. You will literally be starting new as you would a new device but the backup will restore all apps etc however, you will have to log back in to all of them.
Also keep in mind, if you have pictures in your text messages you want to keep, sync your messages folder with photos as all of them will be gone after restore. You will have your texts but no media.
Hope this helps.

After opening CMD and type the first command, nothing happens. My phone is connected via USB and developer option setting should be correct. What should I do?
Hello!! I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to this so I have a couple of questions. I can't find anything factory images for Google Pixel 5a 5G which was an exclusive of T-Mobile along with 4a I think. What i did find was for 5a so would that one work? I'm currently heavily thinking of moving back to my Google Pixel 3a because i HATE HATE this new Android version and it hurts my eyes as I have problems with my vision.
Q1: I am having a Pixel 3 runing under A12. If I want to downgrade to A10, should I downgrade to A11 firstly, then downgrade to A10? Or I can directly downgrade to A10?
Q2: In this A10, can you root and activate the eSim ? Because that is what I really wants. 😎
Thank you for your time and patience to make this GREAT video, it helped me a lot.
